  • "Edit photo - Using Full Screen"

Am I missing something? This hot tip seems to be nonsense:
"Automatically open photos full screen on double click
To make it easier to view your photos in glorious full screen, go the General area of the iPhoto preferences. There you can choose to "Edit photo - Using Full Screen". This will allow you to view any photo in full screen simply by double clicking its thumbnail in the organize view."
There is no such Using Full Screen option when I go to the General area of Preferences....
    Any hints?

For no apparent reason, my laptop starting opening my photos, when I double clicked on them, in my printer editing program. For the past couple of years, it always opened up in the iPhoto large screen editing option. Don't know why it suddenly changed. (I had not yet upgraded to iPhoto6). Thank you for telling me where to make the change. It works. I like the option of the two large black arrows below the main photo, so that I can go from one to another while the photos are still large and also stay in the iPhoto program.
I hope "caliban" found that option and corrected his problem.

  • Adjusted photos in full screen mode show digital garble over image

Since installing iPhoto08 viewing photos in full screen mode is very disappointing and frustrating. Some images will appear with this (for lack of a better term) digital garble over half or the full photo. Sometimes by switching to the next or previous image it will correct itself. It seems to happen only with photos I've adjusted. This never happened with iPhoto6 that I upgraded from. These photos are all 8 mpix, my mac is a G5 2.0 with 2 GB RAM. I've also noticed that the over all perfomance of adjusting the photos is very slow as well. I posted the image here www.capacitornetwork.com/iPhotoDigitalGarble.jpg. Compare the left and right halves (The photo was originally shot B&W). Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you checked the HD with Disk Utility to see if it needs repairs? Not disk permissions but the disk itself. Also delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. A corrupt preference file has been known to cause some strange problems. It's worth a try.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I get the contact photo to full screen size when receiving a call after iOs 7.1 update..?

how do Iget the contact photo to full screen size when receiving a call after iOs 7.1 update..?

I went to the link. I selected iPHONE.  There was a big iPhone icon above the comment box -- so I was absolutely, positively on the right page.  I spent five minutes or so crafting a constructive comment as to why I wanted the full photo feature back on incoming calls on iOS7.  Then...i noticed the box below the comment area asked 'What operating system are you on?'.  And the drop down selection list included every operating system since Job's garage days -- but not one single iOS entry.  No iOS entries on an iphone page.  Unless I'm missing something, I think anyone writing a feedback comment is wasting his/her time.

  • Can´t view photos in full screen after loading photos to dropbox? what to do?, can´t view photos in full screen after loading photos to dropbox? what to do?

after loading photos to dropbox i can´t view them in full screen in iphoto ... i can only view them small ... when i click on them this sign "!" appears... do you know how to fix this????

If you're loading photos to drop box why do you expect to see them in iPhoto?
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • How do I get aperture to automatically insert a .png overlay onto incoming photos from a tethered camera and constantly view the incoming photos in full-screen without retreating back into gallery?

As per the discussion title, I would like to be able to shoot with a tethered camera that will input images and display right away on my Mac on full screen, with each incoming photo display as such without ever going back to gallery view, and in each instance a .png graphics template is automatically overlayed on each photo that enters aperture such that when I print every photo the graphic template will appear on print.
Is aperture able to do this on its on? If so, how?
If not, is Apple script the only way to make this possible?

Would it then be possible to direct aperture tethered shoots to a folder where aperture will hot import, from which I can use action after import via the scrip as you mention?
I've seen it being done with my own eyes but I wasn't able to inquire more...

  • View photos in full screen

I'm sure this must have been answered before but I cannot find any references to it so here goes...
I want to look at my photos...in full screen. Just click *somewhere* and it fills the screen, and then just use arrows to see the next photo. Click again *somewhere* to go back to library mode. Where is that *somewhere*? I thought this was one of the most basic functions but I can't find it

"How do you get your photos from card to these nicely organized folders of which you speak?"
I copy files from my card into folders...if I need to make any sort of changes ACDSee handles that very smoothly (although ACDSee has its own frustrating weaknesses, at least the mac version). All my photos are arranged in Year - Place order (eg 2011 - Tasmania) occasionally with subfolders although I tend to avoid that. That works very well for me. They are tagged with Country, State, City, location, keywords and GPS coordinates. Thats all I need to find anything (with LR or other software)
"The point is that if you can change your thought processes, and put your past experience out of your mind while you learn a new (and potentially better) way of doing things"
That's all good as long as they are better or at least not worse. There are many ways of doing similar things but there is absolutely no reason to justify complicated and convoluted ways of doing simple things. You would thinks that developers would pick up some hints if there are other software doing things in a better way. All I want is the option to click on a simple button as I don't like to have to remember half a dozen keyboard maneuvers to do a simple and basic thing.

  • Iphoto 09 8.1.2 stopped showing photos in full screen

I have the above-mentioned version on both my MAC and my MACBookPro.  I have never had a problem with either.  Suddenly, the version on my MACBookPro (which is using OS X 10.6.8) stopped showing my pics in the full screen mode.  All I get, when double clicking a thumbnail, all of which show up great, is a black screen.  I can see the thumbnails above the black screen, and I can even play the pics in a slide-show.
I have tried everything from rebuilding the library to creating a new library, to completely deleting both IPhoto Application and Library, going to my MAC, copying that version of IPhoto and it's library onto a disc and loading that onto my Pro.  NOTHING WORKS!  I have tried everything I've seen on the web, You-Tube, and of course the Apple Support, which is usually the worst of the lot in terms of supplying information.  I have searched Google to no avail.  Apple seems to all but have foresaken this version, in favor of it's new ILife program, IPhoto 11, which I see is also having major difficulties.
Is there no one out there who has the slightest idea why this program, only on my Pro, is doing this?  I just looked at my pics again on my MAC and that sucker is working like a charm.  I don't even see a good IPhoto alternative out there to download.
    HELP!

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Problem viewing photo in full screen in PSE10

Hi.  Since I bough my new equipment for photo ( Canon 5D Mark III ) it is impossible to view full screen photo in the organizer of version 10 of Elements.  All the update are done.
I can see 1 ou 2, and the it shows like a scratch picture.  This is very important, because it is the only way I can choose between 2 or 3 pictures.
It is not my graphic card the problem, since in Adobe Lightroom 4, I dont have this problem.
What can I do, to correct this ?

  • Hidden photos in full screen mode.

Hey guyz, I think I need a little help here. When I see a photo in the full screen mode and try to navigate through the photos of a specific event using the arrows left n' right I notice that many photos are not shown and are skipped.I can't figure out what's going on.Searched on the web for any possible answers but found nothing.Am I the only one that's happening to?It's really annoying.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are the photos just skipped or is there a blank screen of some sort when you get to those photos? What do you see or not see?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Trouble viewing photos in full screen and editting

I'm pretty sure that I uploaded some corrupted files into iPhoto. This action rendered all of my photos useless. I can't view them in full screen mode, and I can't edit them. I can see them as thumbnails though. I have them all backed up (uploaded in Picassa). I tried a whole bunch of things, including many of the things listed here (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1425139&tstart=225), but to no avail. I figured if I got rid of the corrupted files it would work, but that didn't fly either. So I took a random picture and uploaded it to a now empty iPhoto and the same problem happened. I have not had any problems with my macbook until now. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Uploading "some corrupted files" into iPhoto will not "render all of (your) photos useless".
This sounds like you have a damaged database file.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

anyone know any short key for this? my old nokia 6630 can zoom photo with pressing key #5. full screen photo with key *key, video full screen with pressing key #2. does E71 have these short key?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In E71 photo viewer you can zoom in with 5, zoom out with 0 and toggle fullscreen with #. 2, 4, 6 and 8 scroll the image when zoomed in.
However, you need to press the function key simultaneously in order to access the numbers, which makes these shortcuts a little less handy

  • Is this possible? View photos in full screen and navigate using cursor

Recent convert from PC. Love the mac thus far but this is driving me crazy. What I am trying to do is to view pictures (in a folder) in full screen and be able to navigate either using the left-right cursor or some kind of buttons on the screen. Here's what I did:
    1) Intuitively, I double clicked on one of pics. It brings up Preview. So far so good. Able to view full screen but wait! There's no way to go the the next or previous pics. Ok I get it Preview is supposed to 'simply preview' a doc/pic. It is not a full fledge image viewing application.
    2) Few Googles later, I learned about quicklook. Easy enough, I pressed the spacebar and can see the pictures. Left-right cursor works! But wait! It stops when you view the last picture in the row (i.e. it doesn't go the next row). Huh?
    3) Few Googles later. I learned about using the 'tab' instead. Very nice...I can now browse pics on the next rows...BUT...how do I go back?
    4) Few Googles later. I learned about using the 'shift tab' to go back (now this is getting annoying). Fine, now that I've nailed navigation 101, how do I view the pics in full screen? Quicklook only utilize like 50% of the screen. I don't think it is possible....so back to square one.
    5) More Googles later. I learned about "command a" to select all pictures and then "enter". This will open Preview with all the pictures and presto the left-right cursor works, a left-right icon appears and voila the "full screen" icon is available.
Can some expert/genius please tell me if I am too stupid to use a Mac or that Windows 7 is indeed a more superior os.

Thomas thanks. I think we (mostly I) are beating on a dead horse here. I guess I had figured out the answer from the get-go but is simply ranting. Windows may be a crappy os but when it comes to picture viewing, it is more intuitive.
Now that I've figured out that the "solution" is to select all and then open in preview. Another question came up...what if I want to start viewing and navigating from the middle of the pack? Assuming I have a 100 pics, and I "open" pic 50. Using preview on a single pic wont' let me navigate as you had mentioned. Quicklook allows tab/shift tab but not full screen. The "select all then open in preview" won't cut it since it will start from pic 1. Selecting just pic 50 to 100 then preview works but won't allow you to view pic 49 and before.
