Photo Orientation - Sending to PC Users

Is there a way to correct the orientation of a photo I'm sending to a PC user from my Mac?  I've tried rotating what appears to be portrait 90 degrees clockwise on my Mac but the recipient still gets it in landscape mode, just 180 degrees from the previous landscape mode.  I understand this is a shortcoming of Windows that doesn't automatically correct to portrait when appropriate.  Any way of overcoming this?
Thanks in advance.

If you used Preview to rotate, you would have been given the option to "save."  Did you click on the "save" button?  If so, send the "saved" picture to the PC user.

  • Photo Orientation Incorrect When Viewing MobileMe

I've tried to find a solution to this by searching other posts. What I've found is this is not a new problem. I have two AppleTVs and I have the same problem on both units.
But this is the real oddity. The photos not only display correctly orientated when viewed through a browser on both a Mac and iPhone (as well as the MyGallary app), but they also display correctly on AppleTV when previewing (as they carousel) while in the applicable onscreen navigation menus, and when they are displayed as a screen saver set to "Floating". However, if directly viewing in slideshow or when the screen saver is set to "Slideshow" the orientation is all messed up. And the current photos I'm view where also all taken with an iPhone and uploaded directly to the users MobileMe account.
And on top of all that, when I viewed the first 4-5 photos on AppleTV (now up to 15 photos) they displayed in the correct orientation. Now some of those that did display correctly are messed up.
How can the preview and floating screensaver correctly display the photos, they have a wrong orientation when in slide show. Again, this is on two aTVs. Seriously, there have only been Apple devices and Apple services used - this is should not be happening.
I've have this problem in the past on both aTVs, but the pictures where taken with a Canon and uploaded to mobileme from an iMac. I figured it was a minor inconvenience and that Apple would resolve this in subsequent updates - this was over a year ago.
The only thing I've tried to do so far is to delete the user's MobileMe account and then re-added - nothing corrected.
Oh, and the software is up to date on both units.

Updating the information regarding photo orientation with AppleTV screen saver.
Clear instructions: Click on photo in iPhoto, then go to File, choose 'Reveal in Finder', select 'Original File'. A window opens up where the original photo file is held. Open the photo in Preview. Rotate photo as needed. Close and save. You are done. Restart your AppleTV and turn your photos on and off to share in iTunes. Ta Da, it all works and it's very easy.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Changing photo orientation

The photo orientation on the CHAPTERS THEME main page is vertical. How do I change it to horizontal?
    thank you

Unlike the books, calendars do not change the orientation of a frame depending on the orientation of the photo dropped into it.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request] - ...

Had this problem now for a very long time, and recently came back in touch with it after I was forced to use my HH5 as my TPLINK ADSL router got bricked.
The problem only persists when using any BT issues router whether it be a HH3-5.
The event log is filled with firewall packet loss and blocked entries which I understand that is the firewall doing it's job which is fine. The line that keeps popping up is the one in the title of this thread (PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]) this pops up every time the connection drops.

    this was raised before  https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/PPP-LCP-Send-Termination-Request-User-reque...

  • Using the same photos and music between two user accounts in the same Mac

    Hi,
I think this question might have already been asked in the forum.
    1. I have one MacBook Pro and two user accounts (One for me and one for my wife)
    2. We are having two seperate iPhones with seperate AppleIDs
    3. We want to maintain the apps / calendar / mail / reminders / contacts as seperate - Through iCloud (Seperate Apple ID approach) - All this is fine
    4. All we want to have it shared is the Music files and the Photo library without duplicating
I have tried the shared folder approach for the music and having the iTunes point to that directory for the libary location in the preferences but unfortunately if she adds a folder to the library mine does not get updated unless I do a add folder to library and vice versa.
Whats the best way to deal with the Photos / Music sharing between two user accounts on the same mac
    Thanks
    Shas

To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
To give others selective access to your iPhoto library, you have the option of using iCloud Photo Sharing, if the privacy implications don't bother you. The images will be stored temporarily on Apple servers.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support articles linked below.
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users
There is a way to share the library without moving it to a secondary volume. If you really need to do that, ask for instructions.

How do I share photos and music between different user accounts on the same Macbook? i.e. I want all to be able to access family photos when logged into their respective accounts. Same goes for the iTunes library. Hope this is possible...

The problem is with the new operating system  and sending photo via email when used in my iPad.
From photo I selected 3 photos to send via email. I choose the upload key and choose to send by email. Typing text on the email is very slow. This is solved by saving the email as a draft and opening the email again from mail.
Can you amend he system to allow emails to be sent from photo as previously.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

If you only want to share a few selected albums with your favourite photos, consider to use Shared Photo Streams / Shared Albums, if your Mac OS X version supports iCloud.

  • Workflow API which can be used to avoid sending notification to user

    Hi Folks,
We want Workflow API which can be used to avoid sending notification to user for particular type of error.
Say we are using following API which are used to send notification to mailbox as soon as program run into error.
    wf_core.context(c_v_package_name
    ,c_v_func_name2
    ,p_event.getEventName()
    ,c_v_task_id_prompt||l_n_task_id
    ,l_v_msg_data);
    wf_event.seterrorinfo(p_event, c_v_result_error);
Now we want to restrict certain type of error to send as a notification however we want to keep this record in wf_notifications table for further investigation.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Matt,
It looks like another person had a similar question before, see the following thread:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/9697836/can-use-axl-or-other-api-get-calls-progress
Also, according to the comments seen on that post, I was able to find the JTAPI developers guide, see more information below:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/jtapi_dev/8_6_1/jtapidevguide/overview.html
If this still does not satisfy your question then, the best you can do is post this inquiry on the Cisco Developer Network on the following link:

  • Photo orientation with AppleTV

    Hello all
I have been having some problems with photo orientation in AppleTV screen saver and in viewing the iPhoto library on AppleTV. I did all the usual things, restarted the Apple TV, restarted computer, etc. What was really strange was the photos I had changed rotation in iPhoto were all good. It was AppleTV which wasn't seeing them as 'corrected' images. What AppleTV was doing, was seeing the original photos, rather than the edited versions (the correctly oriented photos).
What I had to do was go to the original source of the photo. So I had to click on the photo, then go to File, see original file. The original file was still in the incorrect position. Once I opened this in preview and corrected it, it seemed to work. Will keep you posted. What is also interesting to note is that AppleTV was having problems with the original picture files of photos taken with a camera, rather than with the iPhone. There seems to be a bug here about how the AppleTV sees original and corrected files when the photos are taken with a digital camera.
Keen to know what others have found.
    Happy AppleTV travels everyone.

  • Photo orientation in i-pad

When I try to send photos from my i-pad in an e-mail, they always appear upside-down to the recipient.  Is there a way to either prevent this or
rotate the photo before sending it?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just discovered this problem too (in landscape) and found that by flipping iPad with start button on right they email correctly.

  • Photo orientation in Ipad

Hi I'm having problems with the photo orientation in Ipad. In my pictures, I have photos both in portraint and landscape mode. When I sync in Ipad, they are all landscape, the ones in portrait are orientated in landscape. How do I fix this. In my pc picture folder they are at the right orientation, but not in the ipad. Has anyone have this problem? and how do I fix it?

    Which OS are you using?
I believe that old versions of Windows (XP and earlier) did not understand the orientation flag that is stored in the EXIF data. Most modern cameras have orientation sensors, and the save the orientation when the photo was taken in the EXIF data for the photo (the EXIF data is metadata that is stored along with the photo data in a jpg file).
Any decent photo browser will understand the EXIF data and will display the photo properly without having to manually rotate the photo. However, if you manually rotate the photo in Windows, the photo data will be rotated, but the orientation flag will not be changed. When the photo is loaded into the iPad, it interprets the marker in the EXIF metadata and rotates the photo a second time.
I'm not sure that this is your problem, but if it is your problem, then the photo is being displayed incorrectly on the PC, and the iPad is displaying it "correctly".
If you think this might be the problem, try installing a program called irfanview on your PC. You can download it at: http://www.irfanview.com
It is a great public domain image viewer program. If you install it, try looking at your photos in irfanview and see if it also rotates your photos like the iPad does.
    Ron
p.s. I can understand how what is happening must be annoying. The photo will be displayed incorrectly, and as you instinctively rotate the iPad to fix it, it auto-rotates again leaving the photo always in the wrong orientation.
My OS is windows 7. So to fix it, I should rotate my pictures in my pc folder in landscape mode so that in the ipad it will be in portrait? As of right now in my pc folder my landscape pictures is in landscape in ipad but my portrait pictures is also in landscape in ipad. And no matter what I do, the portrait ones are always landscape. I've deleted the ipod photo cache and resynced. And no changed.

  • Need to send notification to user when salary added or updated on Salary form (11.5.10.2)

We do not have AME so workflows are not available to us, but I need to find a way to send notifications to users/managers of salary changes.  When a user adds or updates a salary, it needs to go to a second user for approval.  The second user is not going to know to approve without a notification that one is ready to approve.  Can someone help me set this up?  I don't see anywhere in the form where it can be personalized. Is there a simple way to do this?  I see from blogs that some used an alert which fired when the salary admin record is inserted and sent a message to the manager. The manager could then go back into the salary admin form with the salary admin:approve profile on and approve it.  Or if that wouldn't work, then to use a trigger.  Where would these be done at using the Salary form?
    Any help would be appreciated!
