Photo pandemonium because of iPhone / iPhoto / MobileMe / iTunes

Ok, let me get this straight:
Albums are created in iPhoto, but will only show up on your iPhone if you sync them via iTunes.
Albums can be viewed on the iPhone by tapping the Photos icon.
MobileMe Gallery(s) are created in iPhoto, but cannot be synced with your iPhone.
MobileMe Gallery(s) can be viewed on the iPhone by using Safari on the iPhone.
Albums and a MobileMe Gallery in iPhoto do not sync with each other.
(That is, if I click on an existing album in iPhoto and then click on "MobileMe" a new MobileMe Gallery will be created. This gallery, however, is not in sync with the original album. If for example, I add a picture to the Album, it will not show up in the MobileMe Gallery unless I add it to the MobileMe Gallery manually as well; presumably at the same time I added it to the album.)
Album's cannot have any pictures added to them via the iPhone. Need to use iPhoto.
MobileMe Gallery(s) can have pictures uploaded to them (via email) from your iPhone.
Is this just way too complicated or is it just me?
(Assuming you subscribe to MobileMe)
1. Why not sync the galleries I create in iPhoto, with the Photos app on the iPhone? Why do I have to use Safari which is often slow (and with AT&T unreliable)
2. Why aren't albums and MMe galleries able to be synced? That way, after I go through the whole iTunes sync thing, I can have the same pictures on my phone, that others see in my MMe Gallery.
(Assuming you don't subscribe to MobileMe)
1. Why can't I add pictures to an Album that is synced to my phone and the next time I sync with iTunes, iPhoto gets updated?
I don't know, this just seems clunky to me.

  • Managing photo storage on my iPhone/iPhoto/Pictures/External Hard-drive

Hello, I need some help with managing photo storage on my iPhone/iPhoto/Pictures/External Hard-drive.
    Background:
I have 1,200 photos/videos on my iPhone 4S on the camera roll and need to delete them to save space. Most are photos/videos of my new baby which I would be devastated to lose, so I want to be 110% sure that I have them backed up properly and accessible.
I frequently hook my iPhone up to iPhoto to download all of the latest photos to iPhoto.
I have done Time Machine back ups and just did a latest one yesterday.
I would like to save my camera roll into a folder on my hard-drive so that all of these photos are in one place in case I need to access them (and not spread across different folders like in iPhoto).
My Mac (Macbook Pro - circa 2009) is now telling me that my 'Starter Disc is nearly full' and won't save all of the photos from my camera roll.
    My questions;
Are photos stored both in iPhoto and Pictures folder, and if so are they duplicates?
I've heard that Time Machine only backs up full libraries and so cannot be used to access individual photos - is this true? If so, how do you access individual photos/files from my external hard-drive?
How and where should I delete older photos from to save space on my Mac - iPhoto or Pictures? (once I know how to access them from my external drive if needed).
How do I delete all of my photos from my iPhone camera roll in one go? - I can only see a way to delete the 1,200 of them individually.
Going forward where is the best place for me to synch/upload my photos for medium term storage/access on my Mac?
I would consider myself quite intelligent but when it comes to this topic, I'm happy to be spoken to in very simplistic terms!
    Thank you.

Import the photos to iPhoto - then select the photos in iPhoto and export (file menu ==> export) to the desired location

  • How to get photo albums off of iphone 4s with itunes

My computer has a virus so I hooked my iphone 4s to another computer with itunes. I need to get some photo albums off the iphone that I synced with the other computer but the only thing that comes up are the photo stream photos. My question is how can I get them off it is taking up space on icloud and I just don't want them anymore. please help.

Please explain to me what kind of photos end up outside the sandbox. Photos taken or saved with the phone are in the Camera Roll. Other photos on the iPhone would be synced via iTunes from the computer. Those pictures are already on the computer and can be removed from the phone via another sync. Importing the photos with import utility on the computer, like a digital camera is how to get the pictures. I'm not sure what these other photos are that you are referring to, or where they are coming from.

  • HT204478 Photos for Mac and iTunes create significantly larger "iPod Photo Cache" folder compared to iPhoto and iTunes combo

When I used iPhoto, my iPod Photo Cache folder was like 4-5 GBs. After cleaning my library once upgrading to Photos (deleting about 1200 pics, yes I should have done this before..) my new iPod Photos Cache folder was 13 GBs!!! I am already low on disk space as it is and I haven't synced videos or anything. Any ideas? Bug?
I am going to try deleting the folder and resyncing.
    Some info:
    iPhoto 9.6.1
    Photos 1.0 on 10.10.3

This is not okay... I've never had the iPod Photo Cache folder go over 5 GBs with iPhoto.

  • Photo sync issues with iPhone 3GS

My wife is having two problems with photos on the iPhone.
The first problem she is having is some photos that she wants on the iPhone will not sync because "The iPhone cannot display them". The photos are in JPG format, and she has several other JPGs on the iPhone.
Which leads us to the second problem. When she syncs the iPhone with iTunes she gets duplicate photos on the iPhone. Also, they cannot be deleted as there is no trash icon when she browses them.
Her phone is a 1 day old 16 GB 3GS, using a Win XP machine (iTunes 8.2.1.6)
Any help is appreciated as she is very frustrated by this.
    Thanks,
    -Seth

Photos transferred from the computer to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process are selected under the Photos tab for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Photos transferred via the iTunes sync process is a one way transfer process only - from the computer to the iPhone, and are removed from the iPhone in the same way - via the iTunes sync process - the same for music and video. Photos transferred to the iPhone via the iTunes sync process cannot be deleted by the iPhone. Photos captured by the iPhone - photos in the iPhone's camera roll can be deleted by the iPhone.
Not sure about the photos that will not transfer problem - I've never had a problem transferring any photos from my Mac, which are all jpeg format.

  • How do iPhoto and iTunes libraries connect to iMovie?

I'm still having trouble with iMovie '08 being unable to "see" or show still photos or sounds from the iPhoto and iTune libraries. It does not seem to even know those libraries exist.
Can someone at least tell me how iMovie normally connects to those libraries? What file tells it where to look?

In iMovie 11, there is a Preferences file called com.Apple.iApps.plist. If you move this preferences file to the trash, it will reset the links to iTunes and iPhoto. I haven't had iMovie 08 for several years, but I assume there is a similar preferences file for iMovie 08.
In general, the steps would be...
    Close iMovie, iPhoto, and iTunes.
In the Finder, find this file and move it to the trash. Empty the Trash.
    Restart iTunes. Restart iPhoto.
    Restart iMovie.
It should be in the Home/Library/Preferences folder.  (Macintosh HD/<Your user name>/Library/Preferences/)

  • Photo preview on the iphone 4 camera lockscreen problem

i had a problem with the camera on my iphone 4 lockscreen when i tried to preview the picture all the picture was zoomed in and when i tried to pinch it to its original size it got zoomed. help please??????????

    No.
The Camera Roll is for photos and videos that are captured by your iPhone and for photos saved from a received email, from a received MMS or iMessage, or from a website.
The Photo Library is for photos that were transferred from your computer.
The Camera Roll is for temporary storage as with any other digital camera, and photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. You can leave the import by your computer on the Camera Roll or delete the import from the Camera Roll after the import is complete.
If you want the imported photos/videos available on your iPhone that were deleted from the Camera Roll when imported, you can transfer the photos/videos to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process - making seperate photo albums/folders by event, etc. on your computer which will be reflected on your iPhone when transferred.

  • How do I load photos & Music to my iPhone 3G from iPhoto /iTunes?

How do I load photos & Music to my iPhone 3G from iPhoto /iTunes?
If I want to use photos as wallpaper on the phone do they have to be resized or can I just load them?

With your iphone plugged into itunes go to the tables for music, photos, etc and set to sync with the album, playlist you want.
Sounds like you might need to read the owners manual:

Try updating to iPhoto 9.4.1. If it's not appearing in your Software Update yet, try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the following page on the Apple website:
    iPhoto 9.4.1
From the release notes for the new version:
    What's New in Version 9.4.1
Improves the reliability of syncing to iOS devices via iTunes
Fixes an issue that could cause iPhoto to quit unexpectedly when using the Export command

Correct. You don't use iTunes to get photos off the iPhone.

    Hello
After upgrading iPhoto 9.1.2 when you synchronize the iphone / iphoto ipad events are not copied correctly (this option checked all the photos on itunes).

I found this other thread discussing this topic, no fix, I will revert to 9.1.1 from Time Machine and wait for a new update.

  • Only some of my photo's are syncing from iPhoto to my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV.

Only some of my photo's are syncing from iPhoto to my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV.
It may be my own fault due to learning Aperture and playing around with the locations of the Master Files.
The thing I don't understand is that when in iPhoto all thumbnails of all photo's are able to be enlarged / edited etc. When a thumbnail is clicked on there is no gray triangle with an exclamation mark indicating that the link to the original photo can't be found. I would have thought this was ok for syncing to take place.
When trying to sync through iTunes to my iPad for example (after some photo's have been synced) a window comes up saying "Some of your photos, including the photo “_MG_3820.jpg”, were not copied to the iPad “Mark Harlen’s iPad” because they cannot be displayed on your iPad".
I thought this may be due to lack of memory space but my Apple TV (which has the same issue but not the same warning window) has over over 100 free GB's so that can't be it.
When I did a test and re imported one photo that wasn't being synced to my other devices, that photo consequently was then synced so maybe it has something to do with the path through iPhoto to the original files.
Is there any way I can re establish these links with out having to create an entire new iPhoto library from the originals (I have a lot of albums and have done a lot of editing etc and don't and want to have to do it all again).
I look forward to you help and advice
    Mark

Thanks for the advice but it didn't seem to work
I've decided to try ditching iPhoto and orgainising, syncing my photo's to all devices from Aperture
I have so far imported over 1200 photo's (relocating and renaming the master files as well) and find that when syncing through iTunes only 209 photo's are listed. The Projects/Albums are there but some indicate that there are 0 photo's in them when I know other wise (at least according to whats happing in Aperture)
I'm starting to suspect it may be a computer problem
    Any thoughts?
    Regards
    Mark
PS: Just after posting this I restarted my computer, went into iTunes and my Apple TV started to sync. It was now syncing 854 photo's not 209 as before.

  • How to explain.  OK 1st all photos are visible in my iPhoto library; however, some are stored on hard drive and some are stored on external.  All can be viewed in itunes, but none on the external will sync to my iPad.  What's up with that.

How to explain.  OK 1st all photos are visible in my iPhoto library; however, some are stored on hard drive and some are stored on external.  All can be marked or unmarked in itunes, but none of the photos stored on the external drive will sync to my iPad.  Anybody know what's up with that?

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.
