Photo Preview

When looking at photos on my iMac, it will open the photo that I selected but it will also open another photo that I did not. It happens to be the same photo every time.  I've tried force quit but it still continues to happen.  Is there something that I am missing?

I've never reinstalled a previous version of iMovie over a current version so I can't help there. But I routinely have multiple versions of iMovie installed to work with whichever I want. (When installing a NEW version, I simply rename the old version so the installer leaves it alone.)
I don't know for sure what problems might occur running iMovie 5 with iPhoto 6 and iDVD 6. Here, iMovie 5 fails to load the photos list from iPhoto 6, so certainly problems might occur. They may be fixable, however. iMovie 5 seems able to communicate with iDVD 6.
iMovie 5 and 6 use the same preference file, which may be the cause of the iPhoto problem.
And iPhoto 6 projects are NOT backwards-compatible with iMovie 5. Project clips like rendered Themes are ignored. All versions of iMovie I've used behave the same way. If the project file has features the old version doesn't recognize, it just ignores them.

  • How to create a photo preview album DVD in DVDStudio Pro ?

    Hi,
How can i create a DVD still image ( Photo ) preview with DVDStudio Pro ? The preview should allow the viewer to go back and forth between images in addition to pause and go back to index gallery with the remote control. The final result should be something like a Flash or HTML web image gallery created by LightRoom ( sorry for the F word in APPLE space ). It will be used by elderly users that are not computer saavy but need to proof / preview still photography sessions.
If DVDStudio Pro is not the tool for this, could you recommand a Mac application for this.

iPhoto doesn't run on the iPad. Other than that you'd need to ask your question on the iPad forum.

  • Deleted picture keeps showing up in photo preview of camera

Okay so I took a picture on my phone with the camera from the lock screen. When I tried to view it it gave me a message that said that there were no photos or videos. So even when I unlocked my phone and checked my albums the picture isn't in any of the albums, but it still shows up in the photo preview in the bottom left hand corner. I've deleted all the pictures that I've taken today and it still shows up in the preview How do I get rid of that picture so it doesn't keep showing up?

    Hi charlbi,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you took a photo from the lock screen that shows in the lower left preview window, but that picture doesn’t show up in any albums in Photos. In this situation, I would suggest resetting your iPhone and checking again. Please let me know if you still see the preview of that picture after the reset.
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

  • An Aperture 3 "Photo Preview" explanation appreciated.

As I have plenty of free disk storage I would like to set “Photo Preview” to yield the best possible quality and size. (The resolution of my monitor is 1260 X 1440)
I would appreciate an explanation of the choices of the Fit Within figures such as “Don’t limit”, “Fit within 2560 X 2560”, Fit within 1920 X 1920” etc.
My aim is to show my photos onscreen to their best advantage as well as sometimes using them for emailing to friends or creating slide shows for emailing to friends.
Are my current settings right for my purposes?

Hi Cliff.  Sounds like you got this figured out already  .
The Preview file that Aperture creates and keeps is a JPG rendering of the Image.  In general it is a big thumbnail.   The Preview is used:
    - as a placeholder while the Original+Version is rendered (this is done "live" -- Aperture does not keep these files from session to session).
    - when in in Quick Preview mode (the Preview is used in place of the fully-rendered Image in order to speed processing when culling or working with metadata).
    - when you drag an Image from Aperture to another program.
    - when the Originals are off-line (e.g.: if you have put your Image's Originals on an external drive and that drive is not mounted).
    - in Slideshows (but if you create a Slideshow and the Previews don't exist, Aperture will create them).
    - and probably a few I forgot.
The Preview can also be used as a some insurance against total loss:  if you lose your Image's Originals but still have the full Library, the Library will have the Previews.
You should set your Preview size (and existence) based on your needs.  I keep Previews of every Image, at the resolution of my monitor, at compression level 10.  If you truly want "best quality" and maximum size, you should set yours to "Don't limit" and "12".  The difference between 12 and 10 is going to be a lot of bytes, and probably no perceptible change in quality.  The size you select is straight-forward, with a direct relationship between size and storage requirements.
Note that you can delete and re-render Previews at any time.  I have found it much easier to "set it and forget it" -- but I am willing to provide the storage space needed and prefer the performance of a Library with a full set of Previews.
I suspect you've see it, but the User Manual page on Previews is here.

  • Photo preview icon

ok, here's my problem, some of the photo previews in finder window doesnt display properly, it just shows a black icon, where as others display normally. is there's n e settings i can change? or do i have to delete some sorta preference list files?
    thanks

I would try rebooting your computer, and then make sure the system files for displaying thumnail images have not been mvoed or accidently deleted. (it is very easy to delete something or move something in the system folders by accident)

  • How to restore photo previews

When I upgraded to iLife11, my photo previews disappeared.  How do I restore them?

The dialog box you mentioned does not appear.
Then you're not holding both of those two keys completely down before launching iPhoto.  Once it's done correctly you'll get this window:

  • Photo Preview Pages

I am looking for a way to make spiral bound photo preview albums and thought Pages might be a suitable application.
A test run has shown it can be done manually without too much effort thanks to image placeholders and modifying templates. There is one snag and that is getting the photo caption/number to appear either within the image or below it. I cannot see a way that Pages can handle that.
Can anyone offer a solution either within or without of Pages.
Of course contact sheets are easy enough from Photoshop/Elements, but I need a much more attractive layout and a black or dark blue background. Text therefore needs to be white. Files will be made into wet processed photo prints so no danger of wasting gallons of ink or toner.
17 and 24 Intel iMacs   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   And an old white iBook still giving service

My photos reside mainly in iPhoto and some in Aperture.
When making a slideshow in iDVD I notice that images can be made to contain the caption. I was looking for a similar facility in Pages but do not think this is available.
I note your comment regarding manually typing but this is somewhat laborious with several hundred images per album. Any typos made would have a knock on effect that might harm customer relationships, so I would prefer automatic captioning.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Lightroom 3.2 catalog export failure "Photo previews could not be found"

I just attempted to use  File > Export as Catalog... on my notebook. After the export completed a message was generated that reported Photo previews could not be found. (997) and listed all of the missing previews. I reviewed a random sample of the listed file names and the previews clearly exist. The LR catalog on the notebook contains 1596 photos in 17 folders.
I would really like to move these photos to my desktop's LR catalog without having to recreating the previews.
Can anyone help me with this issue?
    Bain Lothian

Lr occasionally does this when it determines that there is an issue with the original previews. Typically, this would be were the previews had been created in a version prior to Lr3.
Have you tried opening the exported catalog? If not, do so as the previews may well have exported. If if they haven't it may be best to recreate them from scratch. If nothing else it will give you some reassurance that there's been no corruption.

  • Photo Preview Not Working

I am having the same problem that several others have reported. I get a blank preview screen when looking at a photo. I have made many movies using iPhoto/iMovie and this is the first time I have had this problem. I am using an iMac G5 1.8 MHz. I am running OSX.4.5 and iMovie HD 6.0.1. This is also the first time that I have tried to make a movie using photos from my (8 megapixel) Digital SLR. These are the only photos in my library that seem to be a problem. All my old (3 megapixel) photos seem to preview perfectly. In fact, recent pictures taken with my daughter's 3 megapixel camera seem to work fine as well. It is only the large 8 megapixel photos taken with my digital SLR that seem to be a problem. I had not seen anyone mention this before. I'm not sure what this means, but it would seem to indicate that my GeeThree plug-ins are not the culprit. I would be grateful for any help on this.

I've never reinstalled a previous version of iMovie over a current version so I can't help there. But I routinely have multiple versions of iMovie installed to work with whichever I want. (When installing a NEW version, I simply rename the old version so the installer leaves it alone.)

  • Nokia n86 camera photos preview problem

hey, i have a problem with my nokia n86
when i go to Photos > Captured photos
and i "travel" by the months that the pictures were taken,
for some pictures, the preview image is completely different than the actual image!
for example, i browse the phone for some the pictures taken in september 2011. then, when i choose one and try to use it, or even if i enlarge the picture i chose, i find out that the preview is plain wrong!
this bug is for most of the pictures i took.
this is really annoying -  i can't find pics i took and use them. i must move them all to the computer
    also restart wont fix it.
and i tried to update the software but it is the latest.

    Hi MS23,
Welcome to the Nokia Forum and thank you for your post.
Please reinstall the phone's current software using Nokia Suite. Click on the green arrow, where the option to reinstall the current software will be displayed in blue.
This will clear up the bug that's causing the preview of the image to be incorrect.
Please get back to me to let me know if you manage to resolve your issue, otherwise I can provide further support.

  • No thumbnail photo preview in Filter CS4

    Howdy:
Started using CS4 Extended but have a problem with the Filter function.  When I used CS2 and went to Filter/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask I got a thumbnail image of the photo that would preview the changes the feature would make before clicking OK.  Now, when I go to the same feature in CS4 there is no representative image in the thumbnail, just a checkerboard pattern.  As I make changes the checkerboard pattern never differs.
    Can you help?

You probably have the wrong layer active.
    Happens all the time!

  • Photo previews in finder

    hi there
so i have a picture in my "Pictures" folder but when i click on it and the preview icon in the finder window shows up on the right with all the info below it it isn't the photo that i get when i click to view in Preview. Is there a folder or something i can go to to see the preview thumbnails so i can figure out what it is?
    thank you
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    rileyman...
I was thinking along that line but the confusing part was putting it all into words. But the unfortunate thing there has to be some stripped data for it not to be seen there properly. Perhaps EXIF data, of which stands for Exchangeable Image File Format, that I am a bit clueless on any fixes. What I do know is that Preview.app is the worse for stripping that out on an export. Then the preview icon gets tagged into the picture rather than seeing the true picture from within the "Finder Preview Window"
What I do is to coral them up into single folder for opening within another application. iPhoto is ok at times, but I have more luck with Photoshop - Elements.
If you are photo application deprived, check over any camera, printer or scanner software that you have that may contain some freebies. Or feel free to see this website. There is a few image browsers there.

  • Photo preview on iPhone

What is the heart that appears in the bottom middle of the screen after a photo is taken (when you preview a photo) - On a 5s with the latest iOS version installed.

    Hello there, Falce.
The following link to the online iOS 8 iPhone User Guide explains the new feature you've discoverd in Photos, called Favorites:
Organize photos and videos - iPhone
Mark your favorites. While viewing a photo or video, tap to automatically add it to the Favorites album. A photo can be part of another album as well as Favorites.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Photo names but no photo preview....

All of the sudden, when I click on the Photos tab in iMovie, I can see all the photo names, but only some of the photos actually preview. Also, I can't click on the photos that don't also preview.
I've done nothing to my iPhotos that I can think of... I can boot to my external drive which is a mirror (cloned copy) of my internal and they all show up.
Any ideas on what is causing this? I've done the Cocktail, Diskwarrior and TechTool Pro stuff to no avail.
I grabbed a picture in case anyone would like to know what I'm talking about.
    http://homepage.mac.com/bmyers2/FileSharing31.html
    File name is iMoviePhotos_NoShow

Thanks! That worked! Two things to note: I didn't have grayed out photos in iPhotos, just all the sudden viewing photos from within iMovie; launching iMovie immediately after apply the rebuild did not resolve the problem. I was thinking the fix didn't work but the next time I opened iMovie, there were all the photos.
    Thanks again for helping me!

  • Photo preview on the iphone 4 camera lockscreen problem

i had a problem with the camera on my iphone 4 lockscreen when i tried to preview the picture all the picture was zoomed in and when i tried to pinch it to its original size it got zoomed. help please??????????

    No.
The Camera Roll is for photos and videos that are captured by your iPhone and for photos saved from a received email, from a received MMS or iMessage, or from a website.
The Photo Library is for photos that were transferred from your computer.
The Camera Roll is for temporary storage as with any other digital camera, and photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. You can leave the import by your computer on the Camera Roll or delete the import from the Camera Roll after the import is complete.
If you want the imported photos/videos available on your iPhone that were deleted from the Camera Roll when imported, you can transfer the photos/videos to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process - making seperate photo albums/folders by event, etc. on your computer which will be reflected on your iPhone when transferred.

  • Photo preview blank when browsing Aperture Library from iPhoto

    Hello to everyone,
I need to import in iPhoto some photo of my Aperture's Library, but when I open it from iPhoto I can see all the pictures exept the lastest that I've imported in the Aperture Library (that have been taken with a Canon EOS 550D with RAW format): I see a blank icon (that can I select and import in my iPhoto library) instead its preview.
In Aperture the Canon EOS 550D RAW format works correctly, but I can't see the preview of the image in the browser under iPhoto.
Can anyone help me solving this problem?
I have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (with all the updates) and the lastest versione of both iPhoto and Aperture.
    Thanks.
    Andrea

    Hi Terence,
thanks for the reply, but I've already regenerated all my previous (the entire library), but with no success.. I still continue to see a blank icon browsing the Aperture Library from iPhoto.
But I see that each time I enter in Aperture, it alway restart processing library (but only for some photos).. when it finish that process, I close Aperture and when I enter in it again, it restart processing the same photos.. again and again and again
    Any other suggestion?
    Regards.
