  • Change Printer Default Page size to A4 from Letter in Firefox

Firefox overides printer default page size every time I print. I need Firefox to print to A4 but it automatically sets the Page size to Letter. I have to manualy change the size each time I print.
There are no options in Firefox to change this setting permanently. I am running the latest version of Firefox on Windows XP.
In control panel the default page size is set to A4 which Internet Explorer and other applications use correctly.
    Thanks,

I solved it! For anyone having a similar problem try this.
Change the default printer, choose another one.
Change something in that printer and close firefox.
Reopen firefox and choose yet another printer (not the first one).
Change something in that printer and close firefox again.
Reopen firefox and choose the first printer. Select A4 as default paper and close firefox one last time.
Reopen firefox and the problem should be gone. Weird, innit?

  • Problems printing multiple page sizes in a single document

I print loan documents. When my documents are emailed, they are mixed page size documents of letter and letter. I cannot get the printer to switch page sizes automatically. I have to switch them manually. I am using MAC book pro with OS version 10.9.1 and acrobat reader 11.0.04. This is on a Brother Laser printer model HL5470DW

The documents are emailed to me as a PDF file with formatting set in the documents.  We do not get a screen that allows us to tell the driver to use the Adobe document page settings.

  • Default print settings - Print by page size

    Hello,
I use Acrobat to print odd size documents (odd, meaning other than 8 1/2 x 11, and 11 x 17). I was wondering if there was a setting to default Acrobat to print to a certain page size everytime no matter what dimensions the PDF is?
    Thanks!

  • Mac Mini envelopes printing full page size from contacts

    Good day.
    So here’s my story.
In early summer I printed out enveoples form "Address Book" for our wedding invitations from a Macbook pro 2.16 GHz running 10.6.8. Everything worked out perfectly.
I then got a Mac Mini 2.7 GHz Core i7  for a wedding gift and I did a data migration from my Macbook Pro to the mac Mini. It was running 10.8.5 and is now running the latest version or Maverics. The printer I used for both envelope printing jobs, an HP CM1415fnw color MPF has also been updated to the latest software version.
The problem I am having is that the Mac mini will NOT print envelopes in the custom envelope size, it always prints full page. It has done this since the data migration form the Macbook Pro running "Address Book" to the Mac Mini 10.8 running "Contacts". I thought is was an operating system issue so I waited for the new OS Maverics.  I did another print out from both computers tonight to see if the issue had resoleved it's self. NOPE. I even do a print preview on the mini which loads up Preview and it shows the custom size, though it prints out full page
All settings on both computers are the same for the custom envelope size.
Anyone know how I can fix the paper size issue?
    Thanks for anyhelp I get

    Hi Rodger_
Thank you for the additional information, it was helpful.
I was speaking with one of my colleagues and we would like you to try the following steps. Once you have completed the steps please try printing again.
    1)    Please reset your printing system, I have included a document on how to do this. Please be aware that this reset deletes all print settings and pending print jobs from your Mac.
    2)    In the "Printers & Scanners" please click on the '+' and choose "Add another printer or scanner from the options (see screen shot)
    3)    Choose your Laserjet CM1415fnw and at the bottom where it says "USE" please change it to the HP Laserjet (see screen shot) instead of AirPrint

  • Printing a page size not in the printer's pull down menu

Hi!  I have a Photsmart C6180, which I'm running on Windows 7.  I'm trying to print out invitations on 5.5 x 8.5 cards, but I don't see that size in the pull down menu on the print screen.  I have printed that size on that printer before, but that was with my old computer which ran XP.  What gives?  Does anyone have any idea how to create a custom page size for the printer?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi there @shirleywas
    Welcome to the Community
I read about how you are trying to print on 13 x 6 paper size, and are not finding the options to select this size within your options.
After checking out the printers Specifications, I see that the printer does not support the size you are looking for specifically however, you can check out the links below to see if you are able to create a custom size to get the size you want. This may not work but could be worth a shot to try it out.
I am unsure of which operating system you're running so I have included links that will include:
Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X here: Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X
Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 here: Re: printing on 5.5x8.0 paper

  • Improvement request - duplex printing different page sizes

I have scanned sheet music to PDF and then trimmed the margins for best display on my tablet. This means some pages are different sizes (but all are smaller than 8.5 x 11).
I combined one such PDF into a larger PDF of all 8.5 x 11 pages. When I print duplex, the pages that are less than 8.5 x 11 print out single sided instead of duplexed. It does this regardless of the size option (fit, actual size, or shrink) that I choose.
I consider this to be a bug. It is already properly centering the less than 8.5x11 pages on the output paper, so it should be able to duplex them even though they are different sizes in the PDF. I would like to see this fixed.

  • How can I get my Pro-100 to print 12x12 page size? It won't let me set that size.

I use 12x12 paper for scrapbooking.  Every time I set the paper size for 12x12, the printer says to choose the A3 size (11 x 16).  But then there's a wide margin of white left over.  How can I get the printer to print edge to edge?

You need to buy a paper trimer.  Office Depot has several to choose from.  Believe me and save your self a lot of headache and just get the trimmer.  Print what you want on a larger size paper that the Pro-100 accepts and trim away.
Are you using a post editor like Photoshop Elements?  If not I highly recommend you buy it, too.  There are others, some are even free, but PSE is the best.

Digital files don't have sizes in centimeters or inches, meters or yards. They have only pixels. If LR is not changing the number of pixels, it is not changing the digital image. When the image is printed, the number of pixels packed into every inch has a large effect on the quality of the print. This is the pixels per inch number, or "ppi". For a smooth print paper it is generally accepted that 300 ppi produces optimum quality, but for canvas a lower ppi, as low as 150 even, will do. Unfortunately, your camera puts a tag on the digital file which sets a default ppi of only 72. The reason is very anachronistic and silly and is a hangover from 30 years ago when Apple monitors had a resolution of 72 dpi, a measure long ago abandoned. That tag is misleading because it gives the impression that a very large print can be made from the pixels just as they come from the camera (the smaller the ppi, the larger the print) and some beginners think that is the only size print that can be made. But that not true. It is only a default tag, a suggestion, and it can be disregarded or changed (LR changes it to 240 ppi) and any sized print made. The real, operative, ppi will be the pixel dimensions divided by the print dimensions. Your image with all its pixels (uncropped other than to the 1:1.4 paper ratio) will have an operative 93 ppi on b0 paper which is a bit low. I would suggest using LR's resize function to double it to 7296 pixels on the short side.

  • Can Reader pick up the Default Page Size of a printer that is not the Windows Default Printer?

We have a web based application that generates PDF documents via Crystal Reports.
We are using Adobe Reader 8
The PDF pages are displayed within an Internet Explorer window where the the users then print the document.
The application is designed so the user only gets one chance to print the document (ie they cant come back and change printer settings if they happen to print the document out incorrectly)
The document needs to be printed on A3 paper, full duplex.
We have a printer set-up decidated to the printing of the documents generated by this application.  The default page size of this printer is set of A3.
If we set this dedicated printer as the Windows Default Printer we have no problems at all.  The default page size (A3) is picked up and the document is printed correctly.
If any other printer is set as the Windows Default Printer (eg one that has a default page size of A4), the users must obviously select the correct printer from the Print Dialogue Box -however when the user selects the dedicated A3 printer, the page size remains as A4 (page size of the Windows Default Printer).  This means the user must remember to change the paper size to A3 each time.
Out users find IT a struggle at the best of times - anything that makes the process simpler is very welcomed!
Is there a way to ensure the default page size of the printer is respected when that printer is not the Windows Default Printer?
    Thanks!

    No.

  • Print booklet still only recognises 'consistent' page sizes

Why is one still not able to print multiple page sizes through print booklet in Indesign? One would think that since I can work with multiple pages sizes, I can output theme correctly - without a work around!

Calling it a convenience feature is not helping it, as it is more of an inconvenience now. I was not asking for a 'full-blown professional imposition engine', but merely for the Adobe to make all considerations when making new features available. This 'convenience feature' is used much more extensively than you may know. My request is not an unreasonable one.

  • Custom Page Size Issues

I just got a new computer (10.5.8) with the Adobe CS4 Suite and I'm having troubles printing custom page sizes from Illustrator to my Epson Stylus Photo 1280 (can handle oversized prints).
When I was using my old system (AI 10) I could specify a custom page (say, 12"x12") and it would set the print margins according to my printer as well as print out exactly as it looked in the Print Dialog box. No problems.
With CS4, I am unable to select "Custom" under the Media section in the Print Dialog box, and I can only get to my 12x12 page by selecting "Page Setup" and choosing my custom under the Paper Size drop down. When I build my custom pages, it gives me the option to put in "user defined" margins or to choose my printer. When I choose my printer, it sets all the margins to .00" instead of knowing the Epson's defaults like it used to. Regardless of what I type in, my prints are getting cut off even when they look centered and perfectly fine in the Print Dialog box.
I'm at a loss. I recently updated my printer driver just to make sure it wasn't that, but I'm still having problems with the margins and the custom page sizes.
I did have PowerRIP X when I was using my old programs, but I thought that was an issue that was resolved since 10.2. Is anyone familiar with these issues? Do I need to buy PowerRIP X again? I sure hope not (it's pricey!)
    Please help.

I would copy and paste your entrie post and e-mail it to Epson.com/support/, adobe.com/support/, and apple.com/support/; there should be an easy answer to your problem.  That said, I wonder if the RIP would be the answer.  It shouldn't be.  From what I hear, Epson drivers are pretty robust.  Don't be surprised if they tell you to get a new printer.  I mean, come on, how many years do you expect to get outa that thing?  Chuckle, chuckle.

  • Print Odd Page Dimensions

I went through a lot of trouble trying to figure out why this wasn't working, so I would like to post my notes for anyone who needs to do this.
I needed to print on page sizes that could vary from short, wide pages to tall, narrow pages. I was trying to do this by implemeting the Printable interface, but that doesn't work, because the page size would be automatically changed from my settings. I found this blog that gave me the hint that I needed to implement the Pageable interface instead, and that worked perfectly. Fortunately, the Printable implementation was just what I used to learn Java printing, and Pageable is what I was heading towards.
I'm not sure why Pageable worked and Printable did not, because for Pageables essentially point to a collection of Printables, each having their own PageFormat. In any case, if you are having trouble with printing, especially with wide pages, this may help.
    Best!

in iPhoto edit the photo and crop to a square - since cropping is just a ratio, not a dimension and square would work - select the cropped photo and click print - select the printer and paper size and set a custom print size - 12cm x 12cm in your case - and print

  • Custom PDF page size errors

When printing to PDF to a custom size of 36x85 or 85x36 the adobe PDF writer doesnt do anything. THis happens from any program I try. If I Select a size of 82x36 the PDF creator with create the file. I can even print 92 x 92 with no issues, just not anything that is 36 x anything greater then 82 inches. This is being done in Windows 7 64 and I cant duplicate this issue 100% of the time in versions 9 and X standard on multiple machines.
The interesting thing is that if i try to print a PDF from within Acrobat 9 or X, it will print 32 x 82 fine, but when printing 85x36 or anything 36 x 82 or greater, it gives me the following errors:
"The document could not be printed"
"There were no pages selected to print"
So my question is, why cant i print to this size? Is there a ratio limitaiton to printing custom page sizes using the Adobe PDF printer?
Any assistance anyone can give me with thsi would be very much appreciated.
    --Update--
If I try this same size on a windows XP 32bit machine with Acrobat X Standard it works fine. Not sure what the issue is with Windows 7 64 and Acrobat 9/X in regards to custom page sizes.

Not sure if you ever found a cause to this but I wanted to post my solution here because I've seen may people posting about the same issue and the solution/workaround that you came up with is the exact configuration that causes the  error for me.
After looking through several forums, nothing worked. I'm running XP 32-bit with both Acrobat X Pro AcroReader X trying to plot to an HP DesignJet 800ps. I had never had any problems printing with Acrobat X until our IT dept. upgraded the print server from Win2003 server to 2008R2. I don't believe there were any new drivers installed for the plotter as it's an older model but the hardware/OS upgrade changed how we installed drivers. The technical details are beyond me.
So suddenly, for whatever reason, I'm now getting this no pages selected error. After unsuccessfuly trying several solutions that others reported to work for them I was determined to figure out why it wouldn't work for me.
What I found is probably just another in the handful of workarounds but I'm posting it here just in case it also works for you. In the print dialogue, click the Advanced (print setup) button. In the Output tab(?)/window(?)/area there is a check box default checked on for Use Maximum Available JPEG2000 Image Resolution. I uncheck this box. Back in the main print dialogue at the bottom right there is a Page Setup... button. In there I changed the page orientation to Landscape to match the orientation of my document. I had already specified this in the printer properties window, and in the main print dialogue it was set to Auto Portrait/Landscape (which oddly if I select just landscape it crowds the job to the top left of the page).
Like I said, these were the only two things I changed and it worked so if you're still reading this hopefully it will solve your problem too.
