Photo Printing

I have a new computer and an older printer (Photosmart C7180).  Now photos I print are too dark, even though they look fine on my notebook monitor.  Print quality was very good before I ungraded the driver to work with Windows 7..  Is there some way to make them print lighter?  The Photo Solution software no longer works with my new system.  Should I just give in and buy a new printer?

  • How to print with a Canon Compact Photo Printer CP-330?

never found a so hard issue, I'm used to plug&play hardware...
can anyone help me printing from iPhoto or Photoshop to a Canon Compact Photo Printer CP-330?
I tried with Canon's drivers, with Gimp 5, anything... one time the printer started working, then stopped after the first pass (yellow color)... frustrating...
    thanks

    Hi there,
If you have had no luck with the Canon or Gutenprint drivers then you may have a printer problem. Have you been able to print from it using your memory card directly connected?
If you think/know the printer is okay then I would look at the cups error log to determine why the spool is failing. This log is located in the Console application.

  • Photo printing slow one line at a time

My first time printing phots on my Officejet 4620 and it is taking 20 minutes per picture one line at a time. Very frustrated. Call the help line and was told tht how this printer works.....

Many things can affect printing photos. Wireless connectivity (if applicable), paper size, print quality, software used to print the photo, printer design optimization (photo printer vs. office printer), security software used on your computer,  etc.....
That being said, this photo printing document may offer some information of benefit:

HP Live Photo Printing for Android and iOS
    Android
How do I print a Live Photo from an Android device?
Printing from HP Live Photo on Android is currently supported via the HP ePrint mobile app.  Most HP printers are supported.
You can also print to printers not supported by the HP ePrint app or non-HP printers using other Android print options.  See below for more information.
How do I use the HP ePrint Mobile app to print to HP Printers?
Install the HP ePrint mobile app.  Google Play store link.
Launch the HP ePrint app.  You will be prompted to Activate the app.  You can skip this – Activation is not required to print HP Live Photos.
Return to the Live Photo app and select the Live Photo you want to print and select Print.
The HP ePrint app will launch and allow you to print the photo to supported HP printers on your network.  If your printer does not appear it is not supported by the HP ePrint mobile app.
More on HP ePrint mobile Activation: HP ePrint app Activation is only required if you wish to print to an HP web-connected printer that has been added to your HP Connected or HP ePrintCenter account over the internet using a mobile phone data connection (e.g., 3G, 4G).  You do not need to Activate to print to HP printers over wireless.
How can I print from my Android device to non-HP printers and HP printers that the HP ePrint app does not support?
You can use any third-party photo printing app that is available in the Google Play store:
Send the photo to yourself via the Share via email option from Live Photo
Select the photo in the email on your phone to download it
While viewing the downloaded image, select Menu > Share

Long-press on the image in the email and select “Save Image” from the pop-up list of options and select the Save option.
Go to your Camera Roll and open the image.
Ensure you have 4x6 or 5x7 photo paper in your printer’s photo paper tray, or main tray if you do not have a separate photo paper tray, select the Action icon and choose the Print option.
Airprint supports a range of printers from HP and other companies. If you need help with Airprint, see this FAQ.

Can I print Live Photos from my computer?
Yes. Simply share your photo via email from the Live Photo app to your own email address and then open the email and print the live photo as you normally do from your computer.
Can I print Live Photos on plain paper?
Always print Live Photos on photo paper to provide the necessary color, saturation, and depth for the best Live Photo experience.  Results on plain paper will be less predictable.

  • The photo print quality from my Mac to my Epson Artisan 810 is poor.  When I take the same photo files (JPEGs) to my PC to print to the same printer without even uploading them to the PC, they print brighter and crisper from my PC.

The photo print quality from my Mac to my Epson Artisan 810 is poor.  I just purchased my iMac for my photography business in Jan. (this is my first Mac).  When I first tried printing, I noticed the quality wasn't as good as I expected it to be.  Then, I had to print 4-3.5x5s on a sheet, so I e-mailed the image to myself and opened it on my PC to print it (much easier to print that way on PC in Windows Photo Gallery - I think it's impossible to print that way in iPhoto).  That's when I first noticed that when I take the same photo files (JPEGs) to my PC to print to the same printer without even uploading them to the PC, they print brighter and crisper from my PC.
I've already been on the phone and e-mail w/Applecare many times over this issue. We've tried creating a test user and printing from there, and we've tried reinstalling the OS.  I've tried printing from iPhoto, ImageCapture, and Preview apps/utilities, all w/the same result - no comparison to the PC-printed versions (no enhancements have been performed on the PC).
I'm out of ideas, and so is Applecare.  They say it's most likely a driver issue b/c the printer is outdated, and that the only solution is to buy a new printer.  BUT it is a pain for me to purchase a new printer - it takes days of research due to the nature of my business and the fact that I need a printer that can print directly onto a disc.  I love this printer and don't want to have to buy a new one if I don't have to.

    englishfreak2004 wrote:
Yes.  I've checked for updates, and the driver I installed is the same as the one on Epson's website.  I also spoke with Epson Customer Service, which was a dead end.  Apple says the problem is due to an Epson driver issue (blaming Epson), but Epson says that with the older printers, it's actually Apple who creates the driver, so the problem is actually with Apple.  Typical he-said, she-said...

  • HP z6100 Photo prints are too dark and magenta density is too high, etc...

    Hi,
Here's the problem. I am having digital portrait photos printed at 20" by 26" in. for wall displays on an HP Z6100 designjet using universal adhesive vinyl. The test prints came back dark and with strongly pronounced magenta and red in the skin tones.  I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with:
    1. Is universal vinyl really the best print medium for this or would some photographic paper like luster or matte yield better results?
    2. I am not in control of the printing process itself, but would providing the ICC profile for the printer/paper combination make a difference in correcting this issue?
    3. The images are jpegs and the color space is sRGB. Should I convert them to CMYK for better results?
    4. Any other suggestions please.
    Thanks for any help.

  • How do I set up my iPad to print using my canon pixma ip100 photo printer?

How do I get my canon pixma ip100 photo printer to print  two pages from my iPad mini? Iam new with the computer terms & stuff, can any one please help me hook it up in easy terms...thankyou

You would have to either use an app from Canon if they have one or use a 3rd party program such as Printopia, Print Central, Fingerprint, etc. That printer is not Airprint compatible.

  • Lack of EZ Photo Print PRO on the PRO-100 ONLY

I've been using Canon printers for fifteen years, I think, so this is not so overly picky newbie observation.  For the last five years, iP4300 and 4500's, and a 9000 MK II.  All come with the Easy Photo Print EX, as does the PRO-100 printer.  Way too "EZ" for me, I can just use the built in printer dialogue boxes, thank you very much.
Not so long ago I discovered the Easy Photo Print PRO, which requires either an Adobe product, or Canon's Digital Photo Professional.   Not having a Canon digital camera, I did find a source to download the original DPP 1.0, then upgraded straight off of an EOS Canon page.
Very nice!  All of the dialogue boxes into one, or almost one screen.  And what is really worth the price of admission, the "Pattern Print."   What we old wet darkroom types called a "ring around."  Wow!  Fine tune your color profile w/o expensive profiling equipment.
So yesterday I got a new PRO-100 which added the Print Studio Pro to the DPP.  Of course I check it out.  HORRIBLE!   First, I just HATE this trend of gray text on black backgrounds.  Who thought this *&*^$% up?  Form did not follow function.  Then, all the choices, which seem to be pretty much the same as the EZPP PRO, are packed into a long slider box on the right.  Said sliders are very narrow, very hard to grab and move.
OK, I'll just no use this and continue with the EZPP PRO, right?  Wrong!  The latter recognizes both the iP4500 and the 9000, but not the PRO-100, while the new PSP sees all three printers.  Upon looking at all the current PRO printers, ONLY the PRo-100 does not list the EZPP PRO as compatible!
What's up with that, Canon?  This is illogical and really frustrating, especially for a long time Canon fan leading the charge against the Epson lemmings.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the various print programs, nothing changes.
So at this point, with my PRO-100 I'm forced to either wade through dialogue boxes or find my anger rising with PSP.   The bit of good news is that one can get a "Pattern Print" from Manual Color adjustment, "Print a pattern for color adjustment."
Rant done.  Awaiting immediate resolution from Canon.  Yeah, right.

Well, I didn't get into the Adobe, pro/con, did I? I'm such a gentleman. The only way I could hurt myself is to pay a lot of money (which I don't have to spare) for programs that just aren't intuitive to me, to look at those damnable gray print on black backgrounds eyeball breakers, and have the use and control of programs so locked down I can't make a transfer to another machine without a call to Adobe.
I'm a hobbyist, not in the graphics business, so I have lots of options. Nor do I do things because "everyone" does it, or it was the first program out there (Photoshop.)
For quick looks at files and simple things, Irfanview. For complete digital asset management, digiKam. Open source, designed by Linux users, is ported to Windows, with maybe 95% good results. If I ever started working with layers and photoshop type manipulations, there's always The Gimp.
For a po' boy like me, these are all I need and all are free.

  • Unable to print from a Mac using Maverick 10.9.2 on an Epson Photo printer with Photoshop CS4. Can you help?

I am trying to print in Photoshop CS4 on an Epson Photo printer (3880) from my Mac. I just upgraded to Maverick 10.9.2 when the problem started. Can you help.

I have the answer. It took quite a while but I know why the 3880 won't print from Photoshop 4 with Maverick. It is due to the Epson .icc page description files. The way to solve the problem is to make your own .icc. OK, so you don't know how to do it. This is what I did so now I get the quality prints I expect from an expensive printer.
You need to go to www.datacolor.com/spyderprint and purchase the Spyderprint hardware and software. It comes as a package for $300 to $350 depending on if you get a sale. The software will print on the 3880 test sheets of color blocks. With the hardware reader you then read the colors on the test sheets printed. What this does is match the monitor image with the printer, ink and paper you used. It makes an .icc page description file for you to select instead of the Epson .icc file. When you print again select the new .icc file and also choose "Printer Manages Colors" instead of "Photoshop Manages Colors" I know this is usual but it works. When you are done you will be smiling too with your beautiful results.
One other thing. If you want, it is optional, also purchase the Spider 4 Pro for $150. It calibrates your monitor and helps make excellent prints.
I understand it is more money and you already probably have a good computer, expensive camera to go with the 3880 so spend the extra money so it all works together.
    I hope this helps.

  • Colormunkie Photo printer profile (*.ICM and *.ICC ) are not seen by LR4.2 in the Print Job section

Colormunkie Photo printer profile (*.ICM and *.ICC ) are not seen by LR4.2 in the Print Job section
I used Colormunkie Photo to create an .ICM file for printer calibration.   When that failed I tried changing the suffix to .ICC.  Under neither circumstance did LR4.2 display the file in the menu to select printer profile.  There were several display files with both suffixes but no printer files at all.  I tried three times with no success and cannot think of what else to try. The first two were the same.  I varied the file creation name suffix in the third.  Help will be appreciated. My OS is Win 7 ultimate SP1  Printer is HP 2550L laserjet.

    Tillman
Glad you found your answer, Colormunki is smart enough to figure out the color space for the printer as I found out - But for quality work the latest generation of inkjet printers from Epson and Canon are hard to beat, and compared to a laserjet the quality is like night and day. The other benefit of changing up to an inkjet printer is the choice of papers available which you could not put through a laserjet.
I had a colleague that tried printing on Photoglossy paper through his color laser and it fried the fuser, and HP, while they replaced the fuser unit under warranty, made it very clear that that was a daft thing to do.
So if I were in your position I would go with an inkjet and you will then enjoy the benefits of better quality output, better paper choices and with your Colormunki be able to make custom profiles that will work in LR
    Cheers

  • Epson Stylus Photo RX680 with Bluetooth Photo Print Adapter 2 won't pair

This post describes my problem, but I couldn't reply since it has been archived:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7882399&#7882399
I am having the same issue with an Epson Stylus Photo RX680 and their Bluetooth Photo Print Adapter 2. I go to System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Set Up New Device, click Continue, select Printer, and click Continue. At this point, the Bluetooth Setup Assistant sends me to the Print & Fax System Preferences window. I can add the printer under the Bluetooth heading. It finds the drivers and adds the printer to my printers list, but a test page (or anything else) won't print. The job is added to the queue, but it stops trying to print after a few seconds. If I go to the Bluetooth System Preferences, I can see the printer listed (for a while), and I notice that it is connected but not paired.
If I run the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and select Any Device instead of Printer, I see the printer in the list and can view the Passkey options. It is set to "Use a specific passkey", which is what I need. I have tried changing it to a different option and then changing it back, but it does not seem like this has an effect on how the printer is paired. I have never been asked for a passkey when attempting to add this printer, and I suspect that this is why I cannot print to it.
I have also tried enabling and disabling Bluetooth sharing, and this does not seem to have an effect, whether "require pairing" is checked or not. Isn't there some place where I can choose "Pair this device" once it has been discovered? I find it strange that I can connect to it but have no option to pair afterward (at least that I can find). To make the matter more complicated, the printer disappears from the device list in the Bluetooth System Preferences after about 30 seconds, so I have to remove the printer and reinstall it in order to see the it in the list again.
I am able to print to this printer using bluetooth from a Windows XP machine, so I don't think that there is a problem with the adapter. I am also able to print to this printer using USB, so I don't think that there is a driver problem. I believe (though I certainly could be wrong) that the issue is that the device is not paired. Can anybody help?
    Thank you.
    -Kyle

I was trying to find a way to use the Epson drivers because the Gutenprint drivers don't support duplexing or feeding out of the front tray on this printer, but at least this got bluetooth printing working. I downloaded the latest Gutenprint drivers (5.2.2), ran the uninstall program first to get rid of the old drivers, and then installed the new ones. I added the printer through the bluetooth heading in the Add Printer dialog, and I selected the RX680 Gutenprint driver (which was not available with the default OS X 10.5.5 installation). Once again, the printer showed up as connected but not paired in the Bluetooth System Preferences, and it disappeared from the device list after a few seconds, but printing works now. The print quality for this printer is much improved by the new drivers as well.
Bluetooth setup is mentioned in the user documentation. It's kind of a joke:
Macintosh computer: Double-click Bluetooth File Exchange in your Utilities folder and follow the on-screen instructions.
That's it. I have been disappointed with this printer on a number of occasions. If you are going to connect directly through USB, then it's probably fine. If you want to use any form of network connectivity, you had better be running Windows on any machine involved.
I'll talk with Epson support to see if I can get any further with their drivers. Since it's supposed to work, I'd like to see if I can get it to happen. Otherwise, I'll return the adapter and share the printer through a spare desktop.

  • Good photo printer???

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good photo printer? I was using a Kodak Easyshare Printer dock plus, but since upgrading to iPhoto6, it's seems that it's no longer supported. I'm only using it for personal use, not a professional photographer, but I want pictures of my son to look good and not fade. Some from a compact HP photo printer have faded after only 2 years. I'm not too concerned about cost at this point, just need some advice I can run with. Any suggestions?? Thanks.
iMac (intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I too have the Epson R200 and it works great for the average user who wants photo quality photos. I use mine for presentations with photo glossy paper (I highly suggest because everyone goes "Oooo Ahhhh"). I believe they don't sell the R200 anymore but the Epson R220 is the updated version. I love my Epson so much that I bought my parents one for Christmas. They needed a all in one so I bought them the Epson Stylus Photo RX700. They really love it because they scan in old wedding pictures or pictures when my brothers and I were kids. Then they print them out and show them off to friends. It is a little pricey, but it is an all around good choice. Now my brother came to me recently and asked which printer company I liked. As you probably have guessed, I told him Epson. So since he is getting his second major in Photography he went out and bought the Epson Stylus Pro 4800 Professional Edition. He wasn't on iChat so I don't know anything about it, but it looks really nice. It is extremely expensive though, over two grand. That is some comparison that I though you might be interested in. I have used Epson since I bought the original iMac (I believe) and have always enjoyed them. They have yet to fail me, yet to fail, and best of all, they make wonderful pictures even around 4 years later.
    I hope that helps,
    Jon
PS I think anything really from Cannon or Epson will suit your needs. Those are the only two companies that I trust for good quality.
