Photo resolution on iweb

Does anyone know how to improve the photo resolution
on iweb? Can i upload pics from iphoto to iweb with
original file size?
Yes, you can. Not sure why you would want to do this. Web images tend to have to balance image quality with download speed. But sure, you can have your original photo used in iWeb. Just drag it from iPhoto directly into iWeb. Then open up the Inspector and click on the Rulers tab. The click "Use original size". That will be your original photo.
If you make any other changes to your photo like shrinking it down to a little square or rotating it or putting a frame around it, then iWeb will convert your photo to a PNG file and subsequently recompress the image for the PNG file. That will again lower your resolution.

  • Photo Resolution in iWeb

Hello all, completely new to this and have only been using my Mac for about a month, but thought I'd give it a try. My question relates to when you are building your website in iweb and bringing in pics from Aperture. What I am wondering is this, when you drag your pics from the Aperture tab in the media column in iweb, does it place the photos on your page at full resolution or is it reducing it for you? I know the ideal resolution for web photos is 72 dpi (prevents copying at full res. for printing) but the photos I have stored in Aperture are usually full resolution unless I export them with an export preset where I have chosen the resolution. I hope that makes sense, thank you to anyone that may be able to help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Actually iWeb does a pretty good job of optimizing photos when added to a web page if its preferences are set to optimize upon import.
I added a 3.3 MB, 3264 x 2448 pixel JPEG photo to a page, resized it to 300 x 225 pixels and published. The resulting jpg file was reduced to 41KB.
I ran some other tests on this demo page: Photo Import and Download File Size Test.
For photos added to photo pages or album pages it's a different story and depends on what size you select for downloading.

  • Send to iWeb - Photo Resolution

When I send photos to iWeb to make a Web Album, I've found that the software lower the photo's resolution to 800*600.
What can I do to increase the resolution to something like 1600*1200 (at least it's bigger).
    Thanks alot!

    2. Create photo page in iWeb and just drag and drop converted photos from the desktop into the page.
When you drag a full sized image file into an iWeb photo page it automatically gets resized down to an 800 pixel x 600 pixel x 72 dpi resolution that is a very good quality level and small file size. Unless you want a different pixel dimension, it's extra work to convert prior to using in an iWeb photo page.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Homepage resolution vs. iweb resolution +slideshow complaints

Why is homepage so much better w/ resolution and iweb so crappy?
Why isn't anybody complaining about this?
I want homepage resolution + the homepage slideshow on iWeb, which is way
cooler with the faux steel, without the dumb shadows.
    v. 2.0?

Granted that iPhoto 6 has done away with the direct link to HomePage, but it still includes the Export option, which you can use to re-size your images, upload them directly to your iDisk, maintain the photo order from your iPhoto album and then use as the source for your HomePage photo album. OK, it's two steps rather than one, but it's not a bad deal to my mind if you want to stick with HomePage.
Mind you, the description of your experience while arranging your photos in HomePage is as good an argument as you'll find for using iWeb instead in the first place. The fundamental difference, of course, is between using a web-based solution and using dedicated software on your own machine. There's no contest when it comes to speed and ease of use.

  • How to get MobileMe photo galleries into iWeb or from Aperture?

I currenlty use MobileMe for an iWeb  published site, on which I have a link to a several dozen photo galleries, all pub;ished from Aperture.  iPhoto has an iWeb "button", but Aperture does not so far as I can see.  I am trying to find the easiest way to keep all of my stuff intact once MM dies next year.  How can I migrate, not link, my MM photo galleries into iWeb, and/or publish them from Aperture into iWeb?  Once I have the photo galleries as part of iWeb, then I'll be able to use it to publish to another web hosting service.  Thanks!

Do you have the original image files used to make up those MMe Galleries?  If so you can group them into albums in iPhoto and use the iWeb Album page or Photos page and ignore the MMe galleries.
If the files are in Aperture and there's no Aperture section in iWeb's Media Browser you will have to export those files out of Aperture as originals and drag them either into iPhoto or into an iWeb photos page.  I don't use Aperture so an unsure of what can be done between Aperture and iWeb.
If those galleries are the only copy of the photos you have you'll need to download the file (if the gallery allows it) and import into iPhoto before going into iWeb.

  • Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08

    Hello,
I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?

I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on?

  • Photos in iPhoto / iWeb

If I've used a photo in iWeb from iPhoto and then delete the photo from iPhoto, does the photo remain in iWeb or does it become a blank space?

iWeb will "remember" it. The info is stored in the domain.sites2 file.

  • Multiple photo albums in iWeb?

How can I create multiple photo albums in iWeb? When I simply pull albums from iPhoto to iWeb, the photos appear individually.

Updated to Firefox 3.6. My Photo Albums display properly on an iWeb site in Safari; they also previously did with the Firefox version I had updated from. However, the photo albums have disappeared now from my Photo Album page.
    http://www.singingstring.org/JM/PhotoAlbums/PhotoAlbums.html
Apparently many people are having this problem but it isn't resolved for anyone. Is it Apple's problem or is it Firefoxe's -- and is this happening in IE too (we don't have IE here on our computers btw)
Since these are professionally-related photo albums it sure would be nice if this could be fixed pronto.

  • I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error.

I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error. All was fine with my site until I added the photo album page. The software doesnt say what the error is exactly, only that it is a publishing error to my ftp
Exact message "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider."
If I reduce the albums inside to 1 then it seems to work but that takes away from the usefullness of multiple albums.
my iWeb version is 3.0.4 (601)

Publish your site to a folder on your hard drive to see if the publication will proceed successfully and open the site locally with your browser to confirm all of the alums are there and work.  If they do try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If you're still not able to publish from iWeb to your server download and use the free  Cyberduck to upload your website files to the server. Users have found that CD has been successful when iWeb had problems.

  • Lumia 820 Photo Resolution Problem

    Hi,
Can anyone help me solve why i cannot change the photo resolution on my Lumia 820?
When i check them on a PC they always come out at either 800x600 on 4:3 ratio or 800x450 on 16:9 ratio.
It's driving me mad there is no option in the photo settings or anywhere else in the phone to change this.
I read on another post that it can be related to skydrive uploading, although I have skydrive disabled and this problem still persists.
    Please Help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

How did you download the photos to your pc? Photos uploaded to Skydrive are reduced in resolution by default unless you change the setting to Best Quality which requires wifi. To change this, goto Settings>Applications>photos+camera>Skydrive>Photos> Best quality
Other option to download high res is to connect phone to pc using USB.

  • Nokia Lumia 820 change photo resolution

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me why can't I change the resolution in the photo camera? If I choose video I can select resolution, but on photo I cannot, there is no option. This is not ok, my phone took the last photos both in landscape and portrait at 1280x720 / 720x1280 resolution. If it has 8mpx why can't I benefit from this res?? who from Nokia had this brilliant idea of taking out the option to select the photo resolution???

I presume you are uploading your photos to Skydrive. The phone automatically reduces the resolution before photos are uploaded. To dwnload your photos at full resolution you need to either connect to pc via usb or change the auto upload settings as follows. Goto settings>backup>photos>best quality (needs wifi)

  • Photo resolution & movies?!

So, I'm confused. I can create a very nice page, but there are a couple things that I can't figure out:
    1. Photo resolution. My photos seem to automatically downsample (the large version) to 800x600. That's great if I want them to, but what if I don't?!
-related: is it possible to link a file? ie "add link to download"?
    2. Movies cannot be put on a photo grid. That *****. I take pictures and movies with my digital camera, and I want to show both in a gallery.
    3. It's unclear to me how updating works. That is, if I publish to a folder, and I update a page or add a new one, do I have to do everything again? ie publish to folder and upload the entire thing? That seems like quite a waste of bandwidth!

  • Photo resolution on new computer

I have noticed that the photo resolution on my new system is much smaller than on my old G4 iBook. The original size of the photos was in 1-2 meg size with great resolution. Now they are 40-50K. When I export them to a digital photo frame they are really poor. What have I done wrong?

    Yes
Quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library to the desktop (after completing everything successfully you will delete this library) and connect the two computers (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library form the pictures folder form the old machine to the same place in the new machine (a single drag - do not move pieces of the library) and launch iPhoto on the new machine - you should be fine - and once you are trash the bad iPhoto library from the desktop

  • IDVD slideshow photo resolution

    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)
From previous posts, it seems that iDVD photo resolution is always less than viewing a iPhoto slideshow while in that application.
    So here is my question:
When I use the option of sharing the photos, iDVD creates a "slideshow" folder with the photos in .JPG,on the DVD. If I copy the folder to my desktop, open, then the resolution is great when viewing on my G5. So if the iDVD app and my verbatim media can create/support these images, why is the iDVD slideshow resolution so poopy?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

OK, but why so lousy even when viewing the DVD using
    my G5?
An NTSC TV set has less than 640x480 pixel
    resolution
    - you computer monitor has more than 4 times this
    resolution.
You are looking at an image with less than 640x480 pixel quality displayed on a much larger pixel count monitor.
Sorry, but what you see is what you get.
DVDs produced by iDVD are best viewed on a TV set. If you are viewing them on a computer - DO NOT set the playback display to 'Full Screen' - use 'Normal' size (which will display the video in a 640x480 window).
