Photo's App OS X Yosemite
I upgraded to the OS X Yosemite new Photos app a few weeks ago. Ever since I updated, I've had nothing but problems. Every time I try to import pictures from my iPhone to Photos on the Mac, it freezes. I am forced to force close the Photos app. I have been having this problem for weeks now and it never imports my pictures to the hard disk on my Mac. I have tried restarting my computer and everything is updated from the Mac App Store and nothing is working. I am importing from an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.3, to a Macbook Pro Retina (Late 2013) running Yosemite 10.3.3.
backup your Photos library and then hold down the option and command keys and Launch Photos 0 rebuild your database

I seem to have lost most of my 9000 photos when I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3. iPhoto won't work now and says it needs an upgrade not available in the UK. Only a few of the 9000 photos appear on Photos! HELP?
Move the incompatible iPhoto version to the Trash, before you try to reinstall from the AppStore, but don't empty the Trash.

The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore Purchases tab with ⌘R, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it. -
Chrome Access Limits to iCloud Photos Beta App?
I wonder if anyone has found that there are limits to accessing the iCloud Photos Beta app when viewed in the Chrome browser.
Here's what happened for me today.
On my 2012 iMac: No problem viewing the iCloud Photos Beta app in either Safari (naturally) or in Chrome.
On my 2010 MacBookPro: No problem viewing the photos in the iCloud Photos Beta app in Safari ... but no sign anywhere of the Photos Beta app when viewing iCloud.com in Chrome.

And does anyone know of up-to-date speculation about the timing and features for a release of a true native iCloud Photos app for OSX Yosemite?"they have to stay on my phone forever": yes, though there is an option to reduce the quality of the iPhone copies in Settings (which you seem to be aware already). This might change though, as Apple has a tendency to change their Cloud services often. They had .Mac sync, then MobileMe, then iCloud Photo Streams, now iCloud Photo Library; who knows what they'll come up with next !

Ok, I have deleted EVERYTHING off my 16gb ipad. Photos, music, apps. All I have are the standard apps. It says I have used 11gb and only have 1.6 left. When I first bought it I had up to 4 movies and lots of apps, no problems. What's going on please!?

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

There is no camera roll download pop up after connected to iTune, to solve that I used Photo Transfer App to download the Photos, but how can I delete the photos in the camera rolls, as there are 9000 photos in the camera roll

I've updated the software on my Macbook to the most recent version; regretting it now; and iPhoto has now become the Photo's app.
The problem is I can no longer back up my photo and video files taken on my phone, saved to my mac, by copying them and saving them on a USB stick or other external hard drive.
I could easily do this with iPhoto, but now Photos app does not let me copy the files when I select them.
Does anyone know if there's a way to save, copy or back-up my photo's and video files: prefreably one that doesn't involve iCloud, as I don't feel like paying for more storage; there must be some way to access those photos/videos from my iPhone to save on another source?The problem is I can no longer back up my photo and video files taken on my phone, saved to my mac, by copying them and saving them on a USB stick or other external hard drive.
Select the photos and videos in Photos and use the command "File > Export" and select a folder on your USB stick to save the photos to. -
Photo editor app now available but doesn't work, after latest What's New update

odd experience what I wanted to highlight with you all.
I've just had an updated (this morning) to What's New build 3.0.A.0.2
After installing this patch / update, I was then told that "Photo Editor" was available to download. Build is 5.0.A.0.12
As far as I'm concerned I've not had this app on my phone before - checking in system apps reveals this is a fresh install, rather than an update to an existing app.
Also, I've not worked out how to run it, as there's no app shortcut on my homescreen. The app is not visible in the app picklist (when adding new items to my homescreens) either. Nor is the app in the main app list (accessed with the 6 dots button in the middle of the permanent shortcut panel on the homescreen).
I've even tried using a very useful app "quick shortcut maker" and although I can find photo editor in its activity list, when i test the generated shortcut, I get "unfortunately, photo editor has stopped".
Any ideas?
I do have some apps disabled, so does photo editor have any known dependencies?
EDIT: I've tried clearing photo editor data and restarting - no change.

Photo Editor is a system app only, it is available for use when editing photo's through your Album or Photo's app. For example, if you go into Album > tap on a photo > tap the icon at the bottom that looks like a pencil on paper > tap Photo editor.

I have an ipad I used with a computer which's now broken. I bought a new Macbook Pro and signed into iTunes with my usual Apple id and pw. I connected my ipad to the new Macbook but it won't back up my photos or Apps from the ipad to the new macbook. Help
What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -
I had to format the C drive recently. I have reinstalled iTunes but I am unable to add anything other than music, TV shows and movies to the iTunes library. It is not showing any option to add podcasts, books, photos or apps. These things are available on my iPhone but are no longer there in the iTunes library. Please help.
In iTunes go to general preferences and check the boxes for those you wish to see in the library.

When I open my "fotos" (Photo) standard app in Iphone4 the the bar "Album is above the row with access to my photos taken - how do I solve this?
Not that I have a solution... I'm just sympathizing as I have the same issue... can't select the frist album because the title bar... and strangely it's only happening in iphone4 not in 3GS... currently I am syncing my photo from Aperture... to reoslve this I just created dummy event with one meaningless photo inside. I think it's a big bug!!!

Is there a way to import photos to the iPad and put in an album without having the photo also in the Camera Roll? I have a photo transfer app but when I import the album and photos they are also shown in the CR. When you delete them from CR they are deleted from the album too.
You can sync photos from your computer via iTunes, and each folder that you sync will get its own album : syncing photos. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next sync.
In terms of albums that you create directly on the iPad no, effectively you are just creating pointers to the photos in those new albums, so if you delete the original photo you will therefore also be deleting all pointers to it.
You could consider a third-party photo management app instead e.g. Photo Manager Pro
