Photo's exported to DVD, won't import just partially

iPhoto seems to make his own selection of my pictures...
I imported pictures in iPhoto 6 (on a iMac 1,83 GHz, Intel Cure), made a selection, put them in albums and exported them on a DVD.
Of the 2102 photo's exported, iPhoto 6 (on a iBook G4) leaves out 770, randomly distributed over the different albums.
I can't see a pattern and had it with three different DVD's now. Both Macs use Mac OS 10.4.9
I'm curious if anybody nows a solution

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Download BatchMod from
http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iPhoto Library Folder using the settings found here:

(Credit to Old Toad for this one).
If that doesn't work, select one or two of the affected pics and then try and open them fpr editing? Does this work orkay? Or right click in the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and select 'Show File': Does it open a finder window? Is the file selected?

  • Ckk: photos made on nikon d3200 won't import, Cck: photos made on nikon d3200 won't import

    Hello,
Ik bought the Camera Connection Kit. I tried to import my photo's taken with my Nikon D3200 camera.
When I plug-in the sd-card I can see the thumbnails of the photo's.
But when i'm trying to import I get a red exclamation mark in the thumbnail as a result. No import is made.
When I use the same sd-card, and put a photo on it with my Canon Ixus camera, e import function works just fine.
I tired different Sd-cards and to connect the camera with the usb kit.
    Getting quit frustrating.
Hope someone van help me out.
    Regards,
    Jaap

    * Thank you for the suggestion.
Additional info: I can not get the images onto my MacBook Pro via Image Capture either. Same situation, the images appear in thumbnail but after I click import nothing happens. However, I am able to get the pictures onto a separate MacBook via Image Capture indicating that there is something wrong with my system or it's settings. Both computers are running OS X Yosemite.

  • Photos on the harddrive that won't import

    Hello, hello!
I was in the process of importing 180 photos from my digital camera to iPhoto. During the process, iPhoto imported many photos, but froze 120 pictures in. I reopened iPhoto and to my horror, I noticed that these 120 photos had been deleted from my camera but were not in the iPhoto library. I then imported the other sixty odd photos without problems.
Since I couldn't find these 120 pictures, I went to the Finder and located them within an Originals folder. I tried to drag the folder/pictures into my iPhoto library and received a message indicating that iPhoto didn't want to accept them into the library. I have successfully opened the .jpg pictures in the Viewer, but iPhoto doesn't like them.
Is there a way to convert the files or trick iPhoto into accepting these pictures?
    Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Yes, simply move the pics you want to import to the desktop and import them from there.

  • IPhoto '09 CD/DVD won't import

I made a CD from iPhoto '09 (8.04) and gave it to a friend running the same version. The CD appeared on his iPhoto as it should and all the data was contained on the CD (original images, modified images, faces and places, titles and descriptions, even keywords & star ratings). Great so far!
But we could not get all this data into his iPhoto. In previous versions of iPhoto all you had to do was drag the pictures from the CD to the Library>Photos in the left column to import ALL data. Now all that did was import the modified images sans titles, descriptions, places, original, etcetera. Same with using the "Import to Library" feature under the File menu.
    Any ideas?

Here's a procedure that should work in getting the photos and their metadata from the library on the disk into the working library. It will require using the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager.
1 - copy the disk library to the Desktop.
2 - launch iPhoto and open the disc library to make sure it's the right version, working, etc.
3 - launch iPLM and add both libraries to the list on the left.
4 - set iPLM's preferences to get the the events and albums as you'd like. There are a lot of options so look at them carefully. Not positive but I think the default settings will get everything you want.
5 - select File->Merge Libraries... menu option and then select the two libraries.
6 - select the name and destination for the new, merged library and go from there.

My camera takes full HD movies. It has worked by importing in imovie so I've done that and then the format is quick time movie?

  • DV-format won't import, just HDV - why?

I have a 2 year old Sony HDR-HC7 which record and play hd-video fine. It also import hd into iMovie 09 just fine.
If I try to switch tape to a DV (SD) format I just get a blue import screen. The same happens if I change the menu settings on the camera to HDV>DV - a setting that will import from HDV to standard DV. Same as playing DV tapes.
I can ses that the camera-option in the import window says (HDV) at the bottom when I try to import HD-video, and it says (DV) when i try to import DV. Still the screen is blue.

Yes that actually helped for me too. It seems that you have to change settings and turn on equipment in an certain order to make this work.
What I don't get to work though is the HDV>DV iLink converting on the camera. That still give me a blue screen, but its not that important anyway.

  • Captivate 5 Won't Import My Font From PPT

I'm working with Captivate 5 and PPT 2007.  I'm importing a PPT presentation into Captivate and it will not pull my fonts through.  It changes everything to the Captivate default font.  The strangest thing is that I imported the exact same PPT presentation yesterday and it kept my fonts.  I've tried it several times today and it won't do it. The font is an option to select in Captivate so I just can't image why it's doing this. Any idea earthly idea why this is happening?? I need help quick!

Copying my PPT slides into a new file and importing the new file into Captivate worked! Thank you SO much!

Subject: [Import/Export] Captivate 5 Won't Import My Font From PPT
Have you tried importing a small PPT with the same required font into a new Captivate project?
I'm wondering if the issue is due to some corruption in your current project.  Sometimes trying the same task in a brand new project file works, where doing it in another existing project doesn't.
Perhaps you could also take a screenshot of the font issue and show us what it looks like and what it should look like?

  • How to export photos from 3.5.1 library and import into 3.4 library and retain faces and location info

i foolishly upgraded my imac to mavericks.  then a few days later when i opened my aperture libraries it asked me if i wanted to update them and that i wouldnt be able to read them in an older version of aperture. i foolishly didnt think much of it because i presumed that i would be able to upgrade my aperture application on my macbook pro. so now my mac book pro is virtually obsolete because it can no longer work on my photo files.
I have since decided that i dont like mavericks because my imac continuously crashes, which it never did before i did the upgrade. so i have decided to
revert back using an old time machine back up. the problem is that the back up that i need to use is over 3 months old because ive been away for 3 months
taking photos and i did the upgrade when i got back home. i have now got 3 months of photos on the new 3.5.1 library that have all been processed, faces locations, edits and filed.
so i now need to export them out then re import them into an old library but i cant seem to export the faces info.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Aperture "Preferences > Export" pane has an option "Include Faces Information in exported photos".
    Have you enabled this option?
If enabling this option does not suffice, you could tag the photos in each "Faces" stack with a unique keyword. Keywords will be exported, and this would help to restore the Faces tags quicker, because you could create smart albums based on the keywords.

  • IPhoto'09 won't import photos correctly

Settings: All photos and iPhoto library are on an external HD (I use a NAS); importing worked fine (okay much too slow but I axperienced if you don't do things the Apple way it is always like this) since yesterday.
The issue is now. When I import photos from a directory on the external HD, it does so but in the preview mode of iPhoto shows for all images the same thumbnail. If I click on the thumbnail it shows the correct pictures and also I can work with the photos etc. But I can't mark any foto as key photo nor export the pictures to MobileMe (it the only exports one photo as it says there is only one photo within that event). It doesn't matter wich photos I try to import it is always the same.
Furthermore with faces I can try and mark many faces as I want or accept the suggested faces (that are already in the faces database) but it seems not to save them, because when I quit iPhoto and start it again all is back to where it was before....
Any idea other then flushing the whole thing down the toilet and start over again?

Simply, the Library needs to sit on an appropriately formatted disk. iPhoto has no cross platform ability, nor does it claim any.
You can run a Referenced Library where the Original Photos can be stored where you want, and the Library can be on your internal HD, for instance.
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.

  • Can't import photos into iPhoto-- it sees them but won't import

I've been using iPhoto with my Mac Mini for almost a year now without a single issue (that's the main reason I bought a mac). I believe I have iPhoto 08 (I bought the computer 1 year ago). I have a newer Canon point-and-shoot that I've been using. About 1 month ago I did a software update to iPhoto, so it's pretty much up to date.
Everything has been fine for almost a year, then all the sudden, iPhoto hangs when I try to import my latest batch of photos. It will pull them into the import preview window (I can see all of them), but when I try to "Import All" it just hangs. I have to turn off the camera just to get the program to unfreeze (after patiently waiting a few minutes). For some odd reason, just 1 of the 70 photos makes it in (there are a few videos, but they won't import either).
    Here's the error message:
    Unreadable Files: 69
The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data).
    MVI_2498.AVI
    IMG_2501.JPG

    MVI_2603.AVI
    MVI_2604.AVI
    MVI_2610.AVI
Any ideas? I'm desperate because there's some wonderful picks of our kids on there that I don't want to lose.
    Thanks a bunch

It’s part of the basic install of OS X. So unless you deleted it then it’s there in your apps folder. If you have deleted it, it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. You will be able to extract the installation package using Pacifist.
Alternatively, if you’re using almost any camera +apart from a Canon+ then the camera card is visible on the desktop and you can drag the movie to the desktop using the Finder and import from there.
No matter what camera you use, if you pop the card from it into a USB Card Reader then it will be accessible via the Finder. Card Readers are inexpensive and all round a better idea.
    Why use a Card Reader?
Because it’s safer: Less risk of your images being lost if your camera shuts down during transfer.
Because it saves the battery on your camera
Because it saves wear and tear on your camera ports
    Because it’s almost always faster.
