Photo's Taking up Space

I recently uploaded all of the pictures and videos on my camera roll to my computer to make more room on my phone. However, whenever I go to take a picture it says there's no room to take one. If I go to settings>general>usage>manage it says I have 7.7 GB of "photos and camera" even though I have no pictures. Help I want to take pictures again!!

Click on the photos app.  Click the albums tab.  Look for recently deleted.  All of your pictures are probably still there.  delete all of them.  Now look at the storage.

  • Why is Photo Stream taking up space on my iPhone? I don't even use Photo Stream?

I was just going through my pictures, seeing how much room they're taking up on my phone, ect. when I notice Photo Stream is taking up space on my phone. I don't use Photo Stream... As far as I know. It says it using 3.9 KB, but I have no idea where that number is coming from. How can I view what's taking up that space, if it's possible?

This is what I mean. I'm seeing the 3.9 KB usage for Photo Stream under General>UIsage>Photos and Camera, nothing to do with the storage on iCloud and I have Photo Stream and everything to do with iCloud and photo sharing off. However, I may have had Photo Stream on before for a few weeks before I turned it off long ago. Could that data/used space just be a few photos that were once in Photo Stream before I turned it off if I've had it on before?

  • How to fix photos from taking up space when there are no photos

So I have an Iphone 6 16g. It says storage full and my photos are taking up the most space with 2.4gb. The thing is I have around 7 photos on my phone. I am not sure what the problem is. Could the photos be from an old iphone through icloud or something? Not sure.

With CS5 and above, there are two main avenues of decreasing export times.  One, get a faster CPU.  Two, get an nVidia graphics card with CUDA capabilities.
Note that the first will speed up all exports, while the second will only speed up exporting under certain conditions.

  • Why is my shared photo stream taking up space on my iPhone when I have turned off photo sharing?

I have an iPhone 5c with iOS 8.3. It's only an 8GB iPhone, so I only have about 5.2GB of space to use. So I have to be very picky about what stays and what goes on my iPhone. Photos is one of those things that don't stay on my phone long. I have deleted all of my pictures out of my albums (both camera roll and recently deleted) and there can be no photos found in my library. In settings, I turned off all photo sharing capabilities, so I shouldn't be getting shared photos from family members on my phone and stuff. So why does my storage say that shared photo stream is taking up 54.6MB? I would like it to say 0MB. Am I missing something? I've included a couple screenshots to help clarify things. Thanks for your help!

  • Photos are taking up space on my iPhone, but I have no photos.

When I sync my 16GB iPhone 4 to my MacBook Pro, the bar at the bottom shows that it is currently holding over 5GB of photos. I have only a few hundred from the camera, and none from iPhoto on my Mac. This is preventing me from syncing music and other files to my device, and it's becoming extremely inconvenient... Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue or ideas about why this might be happening? Thanks in advance.

Do you have any lengthy videos in your Camera Roll that could be causing your problem?
If not, the issue may be a software glitch that could be resolved by updating your software to the newest version, 4.2.8.
    I hope this helps.

I've heard that it can be done and then something about syncing...no idea how to sync either....only that when I hook up the cord to the computer, my iPhone 4 dings...
i need basic step by step...and alot of patience! thanks
I have iO7 something, which I'm really not fond of either....any way after the photo/album deleting...I'd like to find out how to get rid of this update

Assuming you are using iTunes 11.1:
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
In iTunes towards the upper right of your screen you will see the name of your iPhone. Click on it (not the eject symbol.
This will open a series of windows with tabs.
    Select the tab for photos.
Untick the ones you do not want on your iPhone and at the bottom right click on Apply.
    They will be removed.

  • I should have said in my previous message that the iphoto program I am using is for an ipad 2.  I simply want to know how to delete an edited album which contains one photo that I do not want taking up space.

I should have said in my previous message that the iphoto program I am using is for an ipad 2.  I simply want to know how to delete an edited album which contains one photo that I do not want taking up space.

OK....I'm stumped.  The message you are seeing is typically there to protect someone from syncing with a different computer/iTunes account.  Is there any way anyone else has used your iPad and possibly connected it to their computer?

  • Photos on my iPad 3 are taking up space without any photos on it

Photos on my iPad 3 are taking up space without any photos on it. Photo Stream has been off for months, I deleted every photo on it and it still says I have 735 megs of photos. Anyone know what to do? iPad 3, Wifi, iOS 6.1.2

Follow this closely if you really want to sync with computer. Otherwise you may lose all your data.

  • Removing Photos but still taking up space on Storage!?

So I have a question not sure if I am doing this right or if its a bug. So I have a 6 Plus and it says that my photos are taking up a total of 1.8 gigs of space. The issue I am having is that I am removing photos from from the phone but it still is saying 1.8 gigs being occupied. I haven't removed all of the yet, but enough to where it should have dropped to 1.7 or 1.6 gigs? Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help will be appreciated.

No I did not but it says on storage that I have 14 GB left and that I have no video data and the games only take up 4 GB. it is not coincidence that the other 8 GB that are used on the device happen to be the size of the two films I have. It says I don't have them and without internet they don't show up on the device (e.g. Because they are on the cloud) so why are they still taking up storage?

  • Photos taking up space after being deleted?

I have the iPhone 5c and I plug my phone in and delete all of my pictures about once every 2 months. I went to do it today and after I deleted my all my photos it said that I had 1884 photos, or 3 GB of space being taken up by them. I went on my phone and there are no photos whatsoever in my camera roll or in my recently deleted folder. Why on iTunes and in my Usage in Settings does it say that my photos are taking up so much space?

    Hello gabbylara11,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
This article should help in clearing out space taken up after you have deleted your photos.

  • I have a shared photo stream, are those shared photos taking up space on the i devices of the people I am sharing with?

I am getting conflicting answers about this question, which to me it seems like a simple no since these photos sit on another server. Now if the person I am sharing with decides to download some photos then yeah it's taking up space on their i device. But if they dont and are simply viewing my shared photo stream my though is that those photos do no eat up space on their i device.

How much space depends on the size of the photos and how many there are.
Settings > general > usage > photos & camera. The shared albums will be included along with other photos.

  • Photos taking up space on IPhone when I don't have any photos

I deleted all the photos off my IPhone 4s and put them on my iphoto to clear up some space. However, under my 'Usage' it says my photos are taking up 114mb (77mb for my camera roll and 35 for my photo library), but I don't have any photos on my phone at all and I also don't have my photo stream or cloud sharing. Why is it saying it's taking up space? And what can I do to clear this 114mb?

Are you using iCloud photo library beta.
Are any of your photos actually video.

  • I deleted some of my text message histories to get rid of 'other' space (6.33 gb). They were gone from iMessage, but they still showed up in search, so they were still taking up space on my phone. I synced my iPhone (4s) but the messages are still there.

I deleted some of my text message histories to get rid of 'other' space (6.33 gb). They were gone from iMessage, but they still showed up in search, so they were still taking up space on my phone. I synced my iPhone (4s) with iTunes but the messages are still there. How can I get rid of these texts for good and have more space on my phone? 6.33 gb of other space is way too much, thats almost half of my overall available space (13.5 gb.) I don't want to reset my phone and lose all my other texts/ app progress/ photos. I do have backups, but when I restore from the backup the other space comes back along with everything else. What can I do to get rid of this other space and the 'deleted' text messages? (I'm running iOS 6.1.3 if that helps)

But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync.

  • I understand that many versions of any pictures are still on my computer (Masters???).  If I have a final I like, how do I delete all the others that are taking up space?

I understand that many versions of any pictures are still on my computer (Masters???).  If I have a final I like, how do I delete all the others that are taking up space?  I have already put the originals into albums, edited them, and renamed them.  Can I/should I delete all other versions located in Masters, I think?  If I want to keep events, but want them to include the newly edited albums, can I delete the specific event and somehow bring the photos used in the album into a new event.  Understand iPhoto just keeps space or manages photos, so how can I have events that include the edited pix and clean up disk space.  Thanks.
    iPhoto 11 v9.4.2
using Lion, updated, on iMac Pro.

It's very simple. If you want to use iPhoto, just let it manage things as it does. Other than that: Export from iPhoto and delete the image from iPhoto. That will remove the master and all versions.
If space is an issue... use an external disk.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.

  • I cannot figure out what the "other" is that is taking up space on my iPOD.

Please help! I am in the process of burning my songs to my iPOD and I noticed when I synced it up that I had alot of orange, "other" stuff taking up space. I have a few television shows and am building up my music files. I cannot figure out what the "other" is. When I clicked the tab for photos, it had 23 photos that it pulled from My Pictures. However, I played around with the settings and it said under "photos," (0). However, it still has space that it is taking up.
I have alot of music to download and I don't want to have 5.38 bytes of used up space for which I don't know what it is.
    Thanks!
    -Josh

Other can be album artwork, contacts, notes etc. If you feel that the Other is being incorrectly reported you could try restoring your iPod. Just be aware that restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7
