Photo Sequence in an Album

Just imported into my iPhoto 6 library 1,300 photos from my daughter's wedding. I created an album titled "Mary's Wedding" and moved the 1,300 photos from the library into this album. Within "Mary's Wedding" album, I spent hours rearranging the sequence of the photos, and now it is just right. I want to send the photos via DVD to a couple of friends, and must burn the photos on to two DVDs, because they are too large for one DVD. Thus I created two new albums, "Mary 1" and Mary 2", and moved the first half of "Mary's Wedding" into "Mary 1", and the second half into "Mary 2". The problem is the photo sequence from "Mary's Wedding" (where I invested all my time) is lost in "Mary 1" and "Mary 2", and the photo sequence in these latter two albums reverted back to the sequence from the Library. How can I maintain the same sequence I created in "Mary's Wedding" as I transfer the photos from "Mary's Wedding" into "Mary 1" and "Mary 2"? Thank you - buster

Thank you. I resolved the sequence issue by following your suggestion, Photo > Batch Change > and then went to Set Date > and I set the time on the first photo to 12:00 am and then adjusted the time sequence to 1 min between photos. This seems to work. Too bad Apple doesn't have a better approach for letting the sequence of photos in albums to remain the same, once established.
Thanks,
Buster

  • Will Iphoto retain old photo sequence order in albums if I upgrade to newest IOS 5?

I have delayed updating IOS because of previous postings suggesting problems with retaining photo sequence order after the upgrade. Present order does not follow time/date, but has been manually developed in Itunes. Albums will be of little use to me unless I can manually choose the sort order. Ipad 1; I touch.

Only if something goes astray, which happens some times.
    - Backup the iTunes
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Make sure that all synced media like apps and music are in your iTunes library and any photos synced to the iPod are also on your computer. Synced media is not included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes
    Then update vai Tunes
iOS 4: Updating your device to iOS 5 or later
You need iTunes 10.5 or later on the computer.

  • Maintaining Photo Sequence from An Album To A Memory Stick (Flash Drive)

In iPhoto '11, Mac OS x 10.6.7, I want to copy the precise photo sequence I have in an album to a memory stick, for input into a photo frame (so the photos will play in proper sequence in the photo frame slideshow mode). Problem is the photos exported from the album to the stick lose the sequence I arranged in the album. Within the album I did a batch change and separated the photos by 1 minute, which I thought would "cement" the sequence of the photos from the album to the stick.  Wrong.  The photos exported to the stick kept their original date / time imported (also called modified) and thus did not keep the sequence I established in the album.  FYI, all these photos were originally hard photos and were scanned into iPhoto library and later put into an album - thus the sequence within the album was manually arranged because the original input scanning was random.  So, now that I have nicely sequenced photos within an album, how do I export and maintain the sequence from an album onto a stick?
    Thanks,
    H

The photos exported to the stick kept their original date / time imported (also called modified) and thus did not keep the sequence I established in the album.
When you modify the date of the Photos in iPhoto you change the Exif metadata of the shot. This is standard photo metadata and how every photo app tracks the date and time of the photograph.
When you export to the Finder (as you do when you send them to the memory stick) it uses File metatada to sort. This is not the same as Exif and the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So this trick won't work for you. You need to use something that the Finder understands and will sort on
Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Set your photos in the order you want
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • Photo sequence on the ipod touch

    Hello,
I have a small problem with my new iPod touch. I will use him as electrical photo album, but unfortunately I can not determine under what criterion the iPod images sorted and where to set these criteria. ..
If I upload pictures to the iPod the photo sequence on the iPod Touch is completely without patterns and agrees not coincide with the sequence of images in windows ... The photos are in windows properly named (001 to 250) ...
The "shuffle" preferences, has nothing to do ... its off ... so what can i do???
maybe someone knows where i can adjust according to what criteria the images are sorted, or maybe I need another program?
    Thank you
    Fabian

Perhaps ypu could elaborate on your file naming convention. Is the 001 at the beginning or end of the file name?
On my iPod touch syncing from WinXP I see the images in file name sequence.

  • Maintain photo sequence importing to LR2?

A new LR2 user, I need to import 3000+  already edited bird photos from  Apple IPhoto albums, in which I had over several years painstakingly put the photos in each album in a sequence very different from date-based filenames. IPhoto allows me to export each album photo in my sequence to a folder on my computer, using a prefix and sequential numbers to replace the date-based filenames. When I import to LR2 from that folder by the "Add photos to catalog without moving" method in the LR2 import dialog box (and only that method) the photos DO come into the "current import"/ "previous import" section in LR2's Library/Catalog. But the moment I try to convert these photos, now sequenced properly for me in LR2, into an LR2 "Collection", LR 2 automatically converts all the photos back into a sequence by their original date-based filenames, a disaster for me. I cannot believe that LR2 does not contemplate the need for some photographers to import photos into LR2 in an already established non date-based sequence, and to keep them that way in LR2 Collections. I would greatly appreciate assistance on what I'm doing wrong and how to do it right to keep my original photo sequence.  Many thanks!

  • How can I organize my photos in icloud by album as on my Mac? And, not just Collections/Events/Year?

How can I organize my photos in icloud by album as they are on my Mac in iphoto? I want to see more than just a sort by Collection/Event/year.

You'll need to wait for all these things to come out to beta testing for that kind if detailed help. But at the moment it seems that you make the Albums in your  Photos.app on the Mac or iOS device and these then turn up on the Library in the Cloud. I can see no way to create albums in a web browser, and iPhoto doesn't communicate with the Library.

How do I import or move multiple selected photos to an existing album in iPhoto 9.6? In previous versions I could select and drag multiple photos into an album. Now I can only move one photo at a time. Help!

    Try this general troubleshooting procedure:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Is there a way to display the number of pictures or photos in a smart album

when I look at my project view on the left, all of the projects or folders show the number of photos that are in them at a glance. However, on my smart albums, it just shows the looking glass which you can click on to edit the properties. Is there any way for aperture to show the number of photos in a smart album without having to open the smart album and count? Thanks!

No. But when you click on them, the number of images they contain will be at the bottom of the Browser screen and in Split View just above the bar separating the Viewer from the thumbnails.

  • How do I move a photo into an existing album on my Mac in 'Photos"?

"Photos" just got dumped on me with the OSX upgrade. I cannot find out how to move a photo into an existing album after importing it into "Photos" It is NOT intuitive on how to create and manipulate albums.

  • In iOS 5, how do I move photos to an existing album?

On my iPhone 4 with iOS 5, I see how I can select several pictures in my camera roll and move them all to a new album. But how can I move them to an album that already exists?

If the photo is in an Album then it's in the Library, and if it's in the Library then it's in an Event, somewhere
Right Click on one of these photos and select 'Show Event' from the resultin menu. It'll bring you to the Event that contains the photo.

I have 2 photo albums on my iPhone that i want to delete. One is called "Photo Library" the other is called "iPhonePics". I cannot delete any of the photos in either album. How do I delete the photos and/or the albums?

You can uncheck multiple songs by selecting all the songs you want to uncheck, then right-click and choose "uncheck selection".  Also, make sure that you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings or the sync process will ignore your selections.
You can remove all the photos from your camera roll using Preview on your Mac.  Connect your phone to your Mac, open Preview, go to File>Import from iPhone.  When your photos appear in Preview, select the photos you want to delete, then click on the icon at the bottom showing the red circle with the diagonal line through it (see image below), then click Delete.
To remove photos from the Photo Stream album on your phone you'll have to either reset Photo Stream (deleting all the photos from iCloud) or turn off Photo Stream on your phone.

I am working in photshop elements 13 organizer, album view, and would like to resequence (rearrange) the photos shown in the album but am unable to do so.  My understanding is that you can click on the phots that you want to move and drag it to a new location within the same album.  After i select the photo that I want to move and click on the photo, I get a cirlcle with a diagonal throught it and am unable to drag the photo to its new location.  What am I doing wrong?  I know this should be a simple thing to do.  Thanks

    In the Elements Organizer 13
The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.
