Photo Settings box

When I import a photo from the library, the Photo Settings box pops up momentarily before disappearing. Then, when I do a right click and select Edit Photo Settings, nothing happens. I am trying to remove the Ken Burns effect, but I can't seem to get to the Photo Settings box.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Wait.... just saw the box marked "show photo settings"

  • Photo Settings not showing up; cannot remove Ken Burns effect

    Hello,
Earlier today, I selected the photo setting button and a little box showed up with the Ken Burns effect options in it, however now when I select photo settings, the only thing that shows up is the preview of the of photo zooming/panning. Please help... how do I get back to that little box so I can remove the Ken Burns effect from my photos! Thanking you!

Also having the same problem. When going to show photo settings, it shows black screen. Un checking Ken Burns and updating does nothing. All photos in slide show have same super zoom of Ken Burns with no way to remove it or alter it.
iMovie HD broken, iMovie 08 ***... The only reason I purchased Mac was for handling media and I end up doing projects on my old pc using photoshop elements.

  • "show photo settings" and ken burns glitch? please help :(

    hi, i'm having a problem,
my software is the latest version, so is quicktime, all my updates are up to date, i'm not using an external hardrive.
i was creating a music video composed of all still pictures and everything was going fine untill today.
the "show photo settings" display box has a glitch or something.
the slide bars for the ken burns effect have disappeared.
a checkmark on the imovie display is now visible and the apply and reverse buttons have disappeared.
i can no longer exit out the photo settings window the same way as before.
when pictures are added to the timeline they are much too long.
i'm unable to keep the ken burns affect box checked, it keeps unchecking itself and it wont allow me to change any photo settings on certain pictures and on the ones it will allow me to when i press "apply" or the checkmark it stalls and wont render the file (the red line doesn't fill and just stays there)
when changing the length or display time of the picture it will delete itself and replace it with the next picture in line.
can anyone help me? i've spent a massive amount of time on this video and would like to finish it. i dont know what the problem is. maybe i clicked something i shouldn't have?
    thanks in advance

i'm estimating around _1000 pictures_ ... they are all being stored on the desktop ...
    WOW!
... how long does your poor Mac need for booting??
The >40y old Xerox metaphor of a Desktop/Folders/trashbin had the concept of simulating reallife.. would you store ~1000 pics on your desk while glueing them into an album (ever glued 1k pics into an album?) ...?
I assume, your System is 'cluttered'. totally cluttered.
try to clean up ... in Finder, clean your File 'System'... create folders (many folders...), use the pre-installed structure your Mac came with (how about storing pictures in... ehm, Pictures?), why not using iLife as intended (import into iM from iPhoto), why not using the integrated 'File Management' of iPhoto to create albums, to give your mass of pics some structure, finally consider to use approbiate apps (if you try to create a stopmotion-like movie, QTpro or Boinx' istopmotion are better tools) ...
keep in mind, a Mac needs at last 10-15GB free on internal drive to act normal.
export as much as you can to external drives (firewire connected, 'MacOsExtended' formatted), don't forget to give these harddrives structure too .. you know how to create Folders in Finder?
after all is set and done, your desktop is clean, everything is in its place, use Disk Utility to check&repair... finally, reboot your Mac, give it a chance to 'recreate' itself in better shape
... and there's still a high chance, that the fragile file management of the 20$ consumer app iMovie is still overwhelmed by >1000 stills in one single project...

  • Ken Burns Effect window not there when I click on "Show Photo Settings"

    Hi
I am using IMovie HD v 6.0.3 on my mac book pro v 10.4.11. When I press "Show Photo Settings" in imovie, all I see is a large preview window with the photo panning and zooming. There is no window box with a small preview window, zoom, speed controls, and Ken Burns check box, etc. on the interface. So, as a result, the only control I have is a stop, and grab.
Where is my Ken Burns window with all the controls? Is there a download or a fix for this? What am I missing? I have a project loaded with photos and a deadline, so I figured if I used imovie instead of final cut pro, it would be much quicker and easier.
    Please help....
    Thanks,
    Anneita

Thanks for your reply! Your suggestion makes perfect sense.
However, just before I received your reply, I made an appointment with a Mac Genius at the local Apple store, and guess what! The transparent box was hiding way down the bottom of the screen, and that's why it couldn't be seen. He found it! Duhhhhh......
    Thanks again.

  • ACR 6.7: Get photos settings

    This is bugging me
I recent upgraded to 6.6 and now 6.7
WHen I pop in my camera's memory card the Get Photos dialog box pops open (as it should) but in the past it would remember the settings I used previously
Folder to save to (I always save to the same folder)
    Which metadata template to use
Whether or not to Delete the files when done
and that I always use the Advanced Dialog box
now each time, I have to go thru and tell it again and again. This is really slowing down my workflow
    Windows 7 64 bit

I prefer the Windows feature for auto copying image files into the system myself.  It can be set up via the AutoPlay control panel function (e.g., click Start, type AutoPlay into the search box...).

  • Unable to drag a photo into imovie 08 no photo settings available

Hi - any help appreciated - I'm unable for some reason to drag a photo into my project. It's the first time I've used iMovie 08 but am quite a proficient mac user. Photo Library is visible and I can select photos no problem. The photo settings dialog box doesn't appear and if I drag over to the editing window it doesn't appear (but there is a green plus).
Photos are on an external drive, don;t know if this is anything to do with it.
    Thanks in advance
    Hayley

My photos are on an external drive too and have no issues. That doesn't rule out the external drive as a problem for you but hopefully confirms for you that you should be able to get it to work.
What happens if you drag the photo or a photo from either your desktop or from the iphoto application itself.
Have you tried closing imovie and re-launching it.

Unfortunately, there aren't any XSL-FO gurus tracking this forum. You might have better luck posting to a forum dedicated to that type of discussion.

  • IMovie 6.0.4 - photo settings window - gone!

The photo settings window in iMovie 6 does not appear, nor can I figure out how to activate it. So I'm stuck with the Ken Burns settings of some now forgotten project.
Would re-installation of iMovie 6 help? If so, where do I get the re-install?
I'm stuck with iMovie 6 due to G4 Mac.
Appreciate any and all help with this. Thanks, Steve

I am having the same problem.
I am using iMovie 6.0.3 and I can't see the photo when I click on photo settings. It was working earlier. Very frustrating.

  • Photo Settings in iMovie HD

When I click on "Photo Settings" to change the Ken Burns settings...the current photo that I am trying to change goes black which prevents any change to photo settings.
I downloaded iMovie HD since iMovie 08 does not allow many alterations.
    Any advise?
    Thanks.

Hi amf62 - there are lots of topics in this forum related to creating slideshows. There is much debate about what is the best method - using iphoto, or imovie, or one of the third-party apps. like Photo-to-Movie, Still Life, or Foto Magic.
And synchronising with music has its own set of topics!
A search through the forum's search facility will be helpful, but here's one to sart you off:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=460692&tstart=0
Karl Petersen is perhaps the best forum helper to give you advice on this.
One of the most important issues has to do with maintaining the best possible picture quality. If you import with the KB function turned on, then a serious bug is avoided. If you import with it off, then when you send your imovie to iDVD via the imovie DVD button, you will be asked if you want the project to render. DON'T choose that option, as it badly affects picture quality.
Also note that the quality you see on screen is usually not as good as the final quality.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photos do not Appear in "Photo Settings" Preview

I am currently creating a "photo essay" (just a fancy name for slideshow) using iMovie. As this project contains no video, it is important that I use the "Ken Burns Effect"to make the slideshow interesting. However, after selecting a clip to edit, choosing "photos" from the media tab, and clicking "show photo settings," a black screen appears in the preview. This is odd because when I tried it in class, on this same machine, it worked just fine. Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    David.

Your description suggests you're working in iMovie 6, but you've posted in the iMovie '08 forum. For iMovie 6 questions, search for answers here:

iMovie 6 has quite a few bugs. One bug causes the preview of a previouslyimported photo to show black after emptying the iMovie Trash.

  • Photo Settings not working

Hi - when I try to edit clip length or Ken Burns effect in the Photo Settings pane, my Preview screen is black, and the changes I try to make don't seem to be applied to the clip. I have tried different clips and tried adding a new clip to the project, but no success. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

If this problem is restricted to photos that you have added KB effects to, it has been long noted here as a problem. What you are describing usually happens if you empty iMovie's trash after you have placed KB effects on a photo. Because the original photo is now in the trash, iMovie cannot find it to modify the KB settings.
You will have to reimport the photo, and refrain from emptying the trash.
If you have added a title to the photo, that also changes it into a clip, and you cannot modify Photo Settings on a clip.
If you have imported new photos, not emptied the trash and are still encountering the problem, you should trash iMovie's preference file.
Close iMovie. Go to your Home file (YourUseName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
Drag this plist file to the trash. Don't worry; iMovie will create a new fresh one when you relaunch it.
Reopen iMovie and see if it works properly now.
If none of this helps, please post back with more information.

  • I have an older version of imovie.  After I change the photos using the Ken Burns effect and save them, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' to change the zoom, the picture appears black and I can't change the zoom?

I have a five year old version of imovie that generally works fine.  However, when I add a photo using the 'Ken Burns' effect then save the movie, the next time I open the file and click 'show photo settings' the picture appears black and I cannot change the zoom.  Any suggestions?

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.
    See here:
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
Let us know how that works for you.

The RAW files I just downloaded on new MacBook Pro are designated as JPEG in the photo info box. Why??

How did you download? Have you been using the Import panel?
How is the pop-up selector for the "Raw+Jpeg" set?
If you are importing raw+jpeg pairs, and you set this to (Use Jpeg as original), then you will see a little J on the thumbnail, otherwise a R.
Or did ou import with Jpeg only?

How do I turn off or get rid of that %$$#$@! little "i" in the corner of the thumbnail? Half the time when I try to open the photo I hit it and open the "Photo Place" box instead, and have to waste time closing it.

You don't. Click elsewhere on the thumbnail. That's what everyone else manages to do. If that's difficult, you know that you can make the thumbnails bigger? Use the slider lower right of the iPhoto Window.
