"photo share" option (to imbed photos in an email)

PSE12 had an email feature "photo mail" option (to imbed photos in an email) in addition to an email attachment option. This option is missing in PSE13. Is there any way to imbed photos in the body of an email in PSE13 like there was in PSE12?

With PSE12 there was an option pictured below "Photo Mail". This option would embed the photo in the email (2nd picture below). PSE13 does not have the "Photo Mail" option in the pull down menu.So my question... Is there any way to imbed photos in the body of an email in PSE13 like there was in PSE12?

• IPhones using photo share not sharing all photos

I have an iPhone 5 and my friend has an iPhone 5S. We use different Apple accounts so we do not share an Apple ID. We both are using photo sharing through iCloud but she is not getting all the photos that I have posted via iCloud. We are using the same IOS, and I receive the photos she posts through photo sharing, but she only receives some of them. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello again. I think I have figured out the problem. We removed my friend as a subscriber and I set up a new stream. It was then that I realized that when selecting phots to share with iCloud that I had more than one photo stream. The photos I sent her yesterday and this morning were defaulting to another stream which she was was not invited to. With the new stream, she is able to see the new photos I am sharing with her. Thank you!

• Unable to share slideshows in iPhoto, share option all greyed out except for email and iCloud

iPhoto version 9.6
OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
Completed a slideshow share 11/28 via iPhoto to Facebook
Created a new slideshow to upload to fb msg users however all fields in Share were greyed out except for email.
While working with Apple support and waiting on them I went into iCloud preferences and unchecked a share with selected users and found then that under share iCloud now appears along with email however all other options for sharing are still greyed out.
Please help as support is saying that is the way iPhoto now works
Thank You, Theresa

Export the slideshow and that makes a movie of it.
Upload that to Facebook.

• Using "Photo Stream" option with "Photo Library" enabled

Hello,
Since iOS 8.1, I enabled the "photo library" option, but the "photo stream" option is still there in the settings app.
What's the use of this option now that the library is enabled ? I'm not understanding why the two options can co-exist.
Thanks
Phil

Hey pcarrier80,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to know how both features would work together. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ
After you enable iCloud Photo Library, all your original photos and videos are organized in one library. My Photo Stream will upload recent photos to share with your other devices, but iCloud Photo Library stores your originals.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Have a great day,
Mario

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Did you fail to back up your pics?
The photo sync is one way - comptuer to ipod.
You can e-mail them to yourself (instructions in the manual), but they will not be of the original quality.

• I have the original ipad. I can't delete my photos from the ipad, and the new itunes update does not give me the option to sync photos. What do I do?

I have the orignal ipad. I synced all my photos from my computer onto. Now I don't have enough storage on my ipad so I want to delete these photos. When I try from my ipad it only gives me the option to share or copy, NOT DELETE. I went to resync my ipad to itunes, after I downloaded the new version and now it doesn't give me an option to sync photos. How do I get rid of them?

Wow. That's weird.
Is your iPad jailbroke? If it is, all bets are off. If it is not jailbroke, keep reading.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

• Photo sharing option non existent in iTunes

Hi Guys
Bit of a weird one, a customer of ours cannot get photo sharing to work between his Mac (13" Macbook Pro) and 2nd generation Apple TV, music, video sharing etc all work absolutely fine but his iTunes (version 10.0.1) does not have "Choose Photos to share..." under the advanced menu in iTunes, its just not there at all.
Any ideas? Can this be turned on anywhere or is it an automatic feature?
Thanks in advance.
(PS posted in this part of the forum as its to do with home sharing)

• I imported 635 images into an iPhoto album so that I can share them via a photo-stream. However, iPhoto says there are only 600. When I try to add the missing images it says they are already there. Why can i not see these images in iPhoto?

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go.

• Photo share in group conversations doesn't work.

I can view uploaded images just fine, and share my own to single contacts. However, when I try to upload using the + in a group conversation, all I see under chat options is Add Participants.

This is still an issue with the current Android skype. It's just the android version that is missing photo share.

• Can't Publish / share slide show i-photo '08 v.7.1.3 menu greyed out

I have a slide show created in I Photo '08 v7.1.3 and want to publish to .mac slides, however when I click on "share" the ".mac slides" is grey and will not let me select. In fact the only options that are not grey are "email" and "send to I-DVD" Can anyone Help?

acw3148:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can only share photos to a .Mac slideshow and not a slideshow itself. So put the same photos that are in the slideshow into an album, select the album and use the Share->.Mac Slides menu option.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

• My photo stream options are greyed out

and i cant select them to edit options im on a new laptop had icloud eworking on last laptop de-authoried it before switching to this one how do i get photo stream working again?
iphone 4s and windows vista laptop

You didn't do anything wrong. It appears that either your phone or your Mac are not connecting to your photo stream properly. Otherwise when you deleted the photo stream photos from your phone they would have been deleted from your Mac.
Photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, allowing sufficient time for them to download to your devices. After 30 days they are removed. Turn photo stream back on on your phone. You should only get back photo stream photos from the last 30 days, not all 900. If you get more than you want, you can delete them. If you get less, you can add them back using iPhoto (discussed below).
Then take a new photo on your phone while connected to wifi, close the camera app, open the My Photo Stream album on your phone and confirm that the photo appears after a few seconds. Assuming it does, open iPhoto on your Mac and see if the new photo appears in the My Photo Steam album on your Mac. (If you are already viewing the album on your Mac, you may need to click you events, then re-open your My Photo Stream album for new new photo to appear.) Assuming it does, delete the new photo from your My Photo Stream album on your phone and see if it deletes from your Mac after a few seconds. If it does, then things are working properly now and you'll just have to manually delete any photos on your Mac that you don't want. If things aren't working, reply back with your results and we'll take it from there.
Any missing photo stream photos that you still want on your phone can be added back to your photo stream from iPhoto, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/mac/9.5/#pht7aaade98.

• Share more than one photo library to apple tv

Is it possible to share more tha one photo library to my 3rd gen AppleTV from my MacPro running Lion? Today I loaded iPhoto with a different library, but my AppleTV can't access it - it only shows the current one.
I want to stream all of my three iphoto libraries to my apple tv, though one at a time of course. Any ideas would be welcome. I hate to think I would have combine all three into one honking huge photo library

So I think we are saying:
1.The AppleTV is only able to display the currently loaded library in iPhoto
2. When a different library is loaded in iPhoto, the AppleTV setup will have to be completely redone to display the photos
Is that correct? And thanks for your help.

• I have deleted my photos but have icloud. when i log into icloud it doesnt give me an option to view these photos at all. my photo stream is only showing photos from another iphone in the house. i am unsure if i do a restore from back up if this will work

I have deleted my photos but have icloud. when i log into icloud it doesnt give me an option to view these photos at all. my photo stream is only showing photos from another iphone in the house. i am unsure if i do a restore from back up if this will work. i really dont want to lose these photos but i am very unsure of what to do to resolve. can anyone please help?
thank you

If you had Photo Stream enabled with your iCloud account settings on the iPhone, photos in the Camera Roll should have been transferred to your photo steam automatically when the iPhone was connected to an available wi-fi network.
Your photo stream is not available when logging in with your iCloud account with a browser on a computer.
Why were the photos in the Camera Roll deleted?
Photos/videos in the camera roll are included with your iPhones backup. If your iPhone's backup has not been updated since the photos were deleted from the camera roll, you can try restoring your iPhone from the backup.

• Photos got deleted from roll after accepting icloud photo share, How do I recover?

Photos got deleted from roll after accepting icloud photo share. How could I recover them?

Hi JapArun,
The resource below explains what happens when you enable the iCloud Photo Library feature. I've highlighted the key information here for you. Click on the article for complete details.
Get help with your iCloud Photo Library - Apple Support

What happened to the Camera Roll album on my iOS device?
When you turn on iCloud Photo Library, The Camera Roll album is replaced with an All Photos album. The All Photos album gives you the same compact scroll view, now with all your photos and videos organized by the date you add them.

• Option to "copy photos to a new location" not available

LR 2.7, Mac
I regularly use the import from catalog command to merge catalogs. Most of the time I want to move the images, so I usually select the option to “copy photos to a new location” going e.g. from laptop to desktop.
Occasionally though that option does not appear on the drop-down menu. If it was selected previously upon importing from a catalog, the menu will show a blank entry. If one goes ahead with it looking like that, the computer will hang until one cancels the operation; no images will have been copied.
It just happened again this morning. I had started up the laptop in target disk mode, but LR woudn't let me select to copy the new images. A copy of this particular catalog on an ext. HD wouldn't work either. A copy on any of the internal HDs did work fine though. (I've ruled out permission problems.)
As a workaround I then usually export the catalog from the laptop onto one of the internal HDs and import the catalog from there.
What puzzles me is that most of the time it works fine and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.
Anyone seeing this or having any ideas?

You can reset the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page via the right-click context menu to the default value.
You can open the about:config page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
