Photo shop elements 12 won't stay open

I.m using Vista. I had enstalled photoshop 12 successfully then when using it, my laptop battery went dead. The next time I tried to open it, the orrganizer would stay on the screen for a few seconds, then go away. I tried to open it from program files, as one of you suggested...same problem. The I uninstalled it and reinstalled using my serial number...again as one of you suggested. Still no luck. It installed but would not stay open. Then I thought that maybe my anti virus protector was the problem. Disabled program shield for a few minutes and still does not work. Now I can't even get it to open at all....please help!!

Can you create a new profile (or username in everyday language) on your machine to see if you can use the program from that user.
I suspect it is your profile that is corrupted and if by creating new profile everything starts working then you can continue using that new account and delete the corrupted one. Of course, if you have any documents, photos, emails etc in the old profile needs to be copies to the new profile but this is a send stage of the exercise. First create a profile and try it before doing anything.

Now launch PSE and check if it works.
Alternatively,
Try resetting the PSE preferences by
   1. Close Elements.
   2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Edit.
   3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
- Disable any anti-virus software just to confirm if it is not blocking PSE Editor.
In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall.

Elements 9 won't stay open!

When we select the organizer after successfully starting the program, the organizer page opens, but never finishes loading. After 1-2 minutes, the window disappears. We tried reloading the program from our original program CD to no avail.
Any ideas?

If you are not getting any any error messages then your best chance to get it work is to first uninstall the product from Control Panel (Windows System) and then reboot the system.
After reboot try installing again to see if miraculously starts to work. Make sure you are logged in as Administrator or a user with Administrator privileges when installing the product for the second time.

Your solution worked when applied to a administrative user account but did work with a student account.
I'm not sure why that is happening.
If you're on Vista or Windows 7, you could try setting the program to run permanently as Administrator, as described here:

Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - It won't stay open

My Adoble Photoshop Elements 11 will not stay open when I open it. A window pops up saying that Adobe Photoshop has stopped working and needs to close. I don't know why it's closing. Windows checks for a solution, then says that a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. It will close the program and notify me if they come up with a solution for the problem. I don't know why it does that or what's wrong. I don't want to have to restart my computer to open Photoshop everytime. What is wrong?

Try making a direct shortcut for the Organizer and Editor. You can then launch the programs directly from the desktop bypassing the welcome screen. This is generally better as the welcome screen leaves background processes running.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
Then make a direct shortcut for the Editor in a similar manner.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:

Help! Photo Shop Elements 12

Why does photo shop elements 12 sometimes say edit in process and locks my photo when an edit is no longer in process? I exited the image from the edit workplace and it's still saying edit in process in my organizer. How can I unlock this photo?

Are you sure? If you still see a thumbnail in the photo bin, it's still open, even if it's not visible in the workspace. You need to click the close button to close an image.

Book won`t stay open in media overdrive after ios 7 install

In Media Overdrive my book won`t stay open after ios7 install. Please help!

I got the same problem with my iphone 5 rear camera and tried the solutions suggested here but it did not work.
The camera application which came with ios7 is frozen as soon as it opens. I does not take photos or switch between cameras.
I have been able to use the front camera with Snapseed, QR reader . however no application is able to open my rear camera.
I am not sure but it can related with the application updates either ios7 or the camera applications already installed on our iphone. Uninstalling those apps which has access to camera and rebooting may solve the problem. This is just an idea !

IPhoto, Adobe Photo Shop Elements, & Photo Files

Just noticed that Photo Shop Elements is on sale this week. If I purchase/download it, will I lose my iPhoto library? I have version '09, 8.1.2 (424). I've never upgraded to a newer version of iPhoto for fear of losing my library, based on some of the comments from other forums. I do have my computer backed up via a LaCie drive and have had to reload my library once before. (It's very scary when you think you've lose 30K photos!)

Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:

Note 1: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Note 2: editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library.

i have tried installing photo shop elements 11 onto my imac and the disk just spins up a bit then ejects. all other disks and dvds work fine even the elements windows install disc stays in the drive and allows me to see the contents of the folders just the elements ll mac install disk wont stay in . anything i can do?

Go to adobe's website, download the trial version, and enter your serial number into that.

Sorry for the trouble.
If you are working on Windows
Please follow these steps:
Try to rename SLCache to Slcache.old in the following location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
and
SLStore to Slstore.old
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
and Right Click on the Photoshop Elements 12 icon and run as administrator.
Let us know if this works.

I bought a new V500 epson scanner from Staples about a week ago. When I tried to install photo shop elements 6 the install got down to 38 seconds left and froze up. I turned the computer off and then on again. I found that the photo shop was not completely installed and it won't allow me to uninstall either. Iwould like to install and then reinstall. How can I uninstall photo shop? Thank you for you help.

You have corrupted the system registry
You need to manually delete the program folder, and then buy a registry repair program

You also need software to make a full hard drive backup to an external USB drive
Hardware crashes or virus infections happen, so you should buy software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)

Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.
