What format are they? Tiif? Jpeg? You can compress them with a lot of apps - including Preivew and just about any graphics editor out there. I'm not sure that 45mb would crash iPhoto thogh, are yo sure that's the cause? I know that some folks have mentioned pixel dimensions causing issues, as can color profiles.

  • Printing to Stylus Photo 2200 At High Resolution Causes Color Shift

I recently upgraded to InDesign CS3, and I'm having color issues when printing to my Epson Stylus Photo 2200 using higher resolution settings.
From the Print dialog box I click the Printer button and choose Print Settings from the pull down menu. For Media Type I choose Enhanced Matte Paper and set the Print Quality to Photo - 1440.
When I print the file (a document I've printed successfully many times before) the grey process color in my logo come out burgundy, and the other colors are all off.
If I don't adjust any of the Printer settings, the colors appear fine, but the quality is poor.
How can I fix this issue?

Sorry for being but I was just brought in to solve the same problem as Nobody Special and now searching forums! Both Apple Cinema monitor and Epson 2200 were calibrated with a Greytag MacBeth Eye1Photo.
The problem is a color shift and a greater saturation of color. When the image was printed with the same system using InDesign and Photoshop CS2, it printed accurately. With CS3, the problem noted above developed.

  • Extract photo stills in high resolution

I need some stills of the work i've finished, but I only know the appleshift4 trick.
Is there a way to export a photo still from FCP to somewhere else in high resolution? (I have recorded in 24P MiniDV)
    Thank you.

export quicktime conversion, still image and choose the parameters. They will not be high resolution. they will be 720x480 (which you will need to resize in photoshop (or whatever) to 720 x 534 to adjust for rectangular pixels (video) vs. square pixels (computer and print) 72dpi.
I suggest that you read the manual. This is pretty basic stuff.

  • How do you get iMovie 11 to save imported photos at a higher resolution

When you import a picture into iMovie 11 from Aperture or iPhoto, iMovie creates an copy of the picture at a lower resolution and uses that picture in the video. It is often blurry and of worse quality than the original and looks bad in HD. Some of the copies (reveal in Finder) are only 200k.
You can fix this by dragging a higher quality photo from Finder on top of the same photo in iMovie and choose "replace". Thereafter iMovie looks to the photo you dragged in for the source of the image. I'm finding that the difference is often dramatic in terms of the finished video. It's hard to tell how iMovie is making its decisions because some of the pictures it creates are okay and can be close to 1mb in size. There's no indication of what it's going to do with a photo or why and no apparent way to configure it.
Does anyone know how to get iMovie to take pictures from Aperture and iPhoto and not degrade them? In other words, to control the quality (e.g. image size, compression, whatever the heck it's doing) of imported photos?
    Thanks.

I'm having a similiar problem and I'm sure it didn't happen with the previous version of iMovie.  I'm importing images from Aperture and building both SD & HD slideshows (for iDVD & and a stand-alone MP4/MOV video) and adding the images & HD video to the DVD assets manually.
For me, the issue isn't the preview quality as revealed in the finder (I cleared the Aperture previews and reset them to unlimited so the file sizes are several MBs at full resolution) but iMovie seems to degrade the quality on both it's full-screen playback and any exported HD video.
I can't seem to find any setting in iMovie that explains the degradation so I'm assuming it's just poor downscaling but any help would be gratefully appreciated.

  • My Aperture 3 library menu shows me that some photos, which are high resolution professional pictures, are less than One Mb file size. Are the full size masters held elsewhere, and if so how do I get to them ? You've guessed I,m a newbie - please help.

In Aperture 3 and using File>Get Info, I'm told that many photos, which are 7+ Mb's are only One Mb or less. Are the full-sized masters held elsewhere, and if so how can I get to them. You've guessed I'm a newbie - just 2 months with Apple and I'm very confused - any advice would be gratefully received.

You should probably have this thread moved to the Aperture Discussion group and you’ll find lots of useful tips in the threads there:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/aperture
Are you looking at these sizes within Aperture using the metadata view or inspecting them outside using the Finder and Show Package Contents?
I am wondering how you are importing the pictures from your camera?  When you import from your camera, the right side of your display window will have a lot of options that you can select to grab your images from the camera.
Does your camera shoot RAW+JPEG?  If so, you may not be importing them correctly and only picking up the JPEGS.  You can import them so they stay together or separate them.  The master images are all at the Project Level whereas the views you see in Albums for example are aliases that point back to your Project.
Here’s a good Aperture web site (I have no financial or other interest in this site) to help you using Aperture:
    http://aperture.maccreate.com/
This article talks about RAW and JPEG images:

  • Is it possible to add high resolution photos to an ipad2 without synchronising it?

    Hi,
I'm looking in to offering potential clients an ipad with all their wedding photos pre loaded, but is it possible to add photos without synchronising each ipad to my mac? When I first got my ipad2, I couldn't use it for anything until I had connnected and registered it with Apple........I have got the camera connection kit, but haven't found a workaround for adding photos without synchronising yet?
I haven't been able to find much info on the subject so far? There must be a workaround?
    Cheers,
    MacSlates

The first thing that currently needs to be done with a new iPad is to activate it by connecting it to a computer that is running iTunes - it can't currently be used 'properly' until after that is done. After iOS 5 is released and is pre-installed on iPads then I think that should change and you will no longer need to first connect to a computer.
The camera connection kit can be used to add high-resolution photos to the iPad, unlike syncing via iTunes where the photos get 'optimised' by the transfer process. If adding the photos to the SD card yourself then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them
Otherwise there are third-party apps such as Simple Transfer which can copy photos to/from the iPad from your computer via your wifi network. But photos transferred this way will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album in the Photos app, not into a 'proper' album - and until iOS 5 is released and installed you won't be able to move the photos between albums on the iPad : from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums - right on your device
Also a problem with syncing photos to the iPad via iTunes is that they then need to be on the other person's computer when they then connect to it - otherwise the photos are likely to be removed from the device. Photos copied via the connection kit or copied via third-party apps shouldn't have that problem.

  • How do I get high resolution on my jpg photo

I have a photo in iphoto that I need to change to high resolution and email it.  HOw do I do that?

You can not "change" an image to High Resolution - what ever resolution it was created at it the maximum resolution it can be
the most general way to use the max is to select the photos in iPhoto and export it to the desktop using the highest resolution and quality settings (see the user tip on exporting for details on the options)  and email from there

  • Whenever i burn photos to a cd from iphoto it does it in a low resolution - how do i make it high resolution?

I need to print photos in a high quality resolution - my camera resolution can enlarge up to 16X20 in good quality but when i burn from iphoto to cd it burns in low res....how do I fix that? I don't see an option anywhere to indicate resolution...

As you don't tell us what version of iPhoto you have or how you're burning to disk, I'll guess you're using the Share -> Burn command to make the CD?
This makes a mini-library on the disk and is designed for sharing with other iPhoto users.
If you are doing this then I'll also guess that you're printing the Thumbnails from the Data folder.
Try using the File -> Export command to export the photos from the Library to a folder on the desktop. Then burn that with the Finder.
If I've guessed wrong post back

  • Replace photos with higher resolution versions?

A professional photographer sent me a DVD with about 1,000 photos on it from an event I hosted.  I imported them all into iPhoto and made a couple of photo books out of them (but didn't yet get them printed).  I noticed the resolution wasn't what I expected, so the photographer sent me a new DVD with higher resolution versions.  Same filenames.  Is there any way to import the new versions into iPhoto, replacing the old ones?  Ideally they would appear in the photo books, too!  I'd hate to have to spend hours recreating what I did.
    Thanks!

I don't think so, iPhoto is designed to prevent "collisions" between similar file names, so you can't just import them. You would have to do major surgery to the iPhoto Library, which is not a good idea. And still might not work.
I think you should just re-import and start over.

    Hi Stefan,
High-resolution user photos are displayed in Lync 2013 meetings when an active speaker does not have video enabled. Also, moving the mouse over thumbnail photo in the gallery will display the
    high-resolution photo.
Looks like the configurations are correct. Can you reproduce this issue by using Lync 2013 client ?
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Photo feeds do not download high resolution photo's: why???

    Hi,
I'm using iPhoto '09 to subscribe to photo feeds, unfortunately iPhoto only downloads the low res thumbnails and not the high resolution images that are also included in the feeds. This makes it pretty much worthless, since the low res images are really bad in iPhoto.
Is there a way to convince iPhoto that it should download the picture identified by the URL in the <media:content> tag and not the <media:thumbnail> tag?
    Regards,
    Gero

  • High resolution photos. How to?

I need to e-mail high resolution photos. What is the best way to do this from an iMac, iPad, iPhone?
    thanks!

If for business, uploading to an FTP site rather than e-mailing is the most efficient if teh recipient has one. My editor's email limits him to a small total size fo attachments that is almost always less than my copy and images, but the magazine has an ftp (file transfer protocol) site that is not picky about file size.
You normally use a separate ftp client program on your computer. I use CyberDuck because the publisher recommended it, but I don't think current versions will run on the pre-2006 iMac this forum covers.
If you MUST e-mail, you have to find out ahead of time whether your ISP or the recipient's have limits on file size.
If you elaborate on which iMac variant you have and what Mac OS version you run, we may come up with more targeted recommendation. Right now we're all guessing.

  • Exporting Final Cut Movie Frame as High Resolution Photo

    Hello everyone,
Is there a way to take a frame in a final cut movie and export it as a high resolution photo? My supervisor has taken some great video footage and would like to use parts of it to make a calendar. I've tried exporting in quicktime, but the highest resolution I get is 72 dpi.
Even if there's a 3rd party program that will do this if Final Cut won't, please let me know. Thank you!

There are any number of up-rez tools for Photoshop that do a pretty good job of creating pixels where none exist. Simply resampling at a larger size/pixel count often creates acceptable results. But, as stated, there are only a limited number of pixels available: whatever you shot with. If you shot with a fabulous high def (not HDV) camera, you might have as many as 1080x760 some odd pixels.
