Photo showing up as black

It has happened a couple of times before
Seems like its when I copy a part of another project into a project.
Basically I drag a new jpg in and it shows up as black.
This is so frustrating right now - Apple please fix this bug
It is slowing down my work capacity - What do you need me to do so you can fix this bug?

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Photo shows up blank/black

For the first time an occasional image is showing up blank in the thumbnails. it's black w/number, rating, alteration arrows, just no image. when i scroll through different views -- 'v' -- the proper image is there: full screen, above the list, etc., but not in the thumbnails.
when i exported with a group, the blank image exported. when i exported by itself, the image exported properly.

Have a read of these ideas and see if any help, this is a good starting point.

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.

Photos in iPhoto from my photostream are showing up as black images (not pictures).

I have been experiencing issues with my iPhoto in the past few weeks and photostream. My photostream on my phone has all of my photos intact, however, on my macbook pro about 90% of the photos in my photostream show up as black images/boxes. Included below is a picture of what my "photos" from my photostream look like on my computer. I have also experienced issues with iPhoto running very slowly/almost being unresponsive. I have iPhoto v9.3 and OS 10.7.4. Any help is appreciated!

If I click on one of the black boxes it opens a larger view of the box as if it is a photo and gives you all of the editing options that are usually displayed. I've included a screenshot of how this appears in case the visual explanation is clearer than my verbal one. If you look at the bottom of it too you will notice that there are maybe three or four photos along the bottom reel that are intact but the rest are black boxes. I have also included another screen shot of my photo stream that shows these black boxes with a normal photo.

(On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. I had to erase my hard drive and then reinstall everything back from my passport external hard drive. Now my iPhoto edit is not working. I get a blank screen when I want to edit. The photos show up in the library but I cannot edit them. Help?

How to get photos show up in a video project?

Hi! I'm trying to import photos from a Canon Powershot SX210 IS into a movie project. I first imported the photos into iPhoto library and photos show up in the project, then I drag and drop then into the project timeline but once I play the video project it only shows black instead of the videos. What do I have to do? Do the photos have to be in certain file format / certain size? Now the photos are raw 14 megapixel monsters. Thanks for help!

I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option.
Assuming you don't want to redistribute your photos into a greater number of folders or subfolders so there would be fewer in each folder to process, you could try a workaround. Try moving your currently-assigned folder to your desktop temporarily, before opening the Screen Saver preference pane. If the preference pane can't find the old folder, it may immediately ask you to choose a new one. You could hopefully then do so, close the preference pane, and then put back the old folder.
It's my understanding that there will be no future updates to Tiger, only security fixes.

Black and White Photo's with a black background

I am doing a video with all black and white photo's with a black background. The black background does not show up black when projected on a screen. I used a black border on the photo's and the border shows up black. How do I get the background to show up black?

Faces in Photos showed up blank after the upgrades

Faces in Photos showed up blank after the upgrades (no labeled faces at all) with the suggested faces mostly full of 100's of blank white circles. I used to have about 50 faces labeled with about 2500 photos. Now I have no labeled faces on top of page (completely blank) and only 9 face suggestions on the bottom. Photos also runs very slowly compared to iPhoto. I tried re-installing and re-upgrading and have gotten the same results. I'm using a Mac Pro (2009), OS 10.10.3, 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC, 7 GB storage. Any help will be appreciated and even if I have to delete the Face's database and start all over, where do I find that database or file to delete?

1. Copy and paste is a very good way of moving chunks of text around, however, it's not really good for moving a Library containing many thousands of files. Drag and Drop is rather more reliable.

2. The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

My newest events show up as black squares

The newest events I've imported show up as black key photos and no images show when I roll my mouse over the event. When I am in photos view all the pictures show up and can be opened. It looks like this:
When I change the size of the events by using the bottom right slider I can see the event key photos, but as soon as I release the slider the events return back to black squares, as shown below:

Not sure what you meant by "missing till" but all of the photos and movies are there. I concluded that searching for several photos by their file name and then opening them with Preview.
I'm pretty certain that I only used the Picasa desktop app to test using the Picasa web service for some family photos. I don't think I used it to edit any photos in the iPhoto library but I suppose it's possible that I did without really thinking about it.
Why to I have tiffs? - As far as I know I don't. They are all jpg or mov files. I can't imagine why that error dialog said I was missing a tiff.
I just noticed based upon your suggestion to review the package contents. I have folders for Modified and Originals which I've seen before. But I also have folders for Photos - Modified and Photos - Original. I haven't seen those last two before. Moreover, all but 6 of my latest photos are in those last two folders. iPhoto can show me their thumbnails but can't open them. iPhoto can open the 6 photos in the "Original" folder. I didn't notice that before because they represent a very small portion of my library and I didn't select the right photos.
iPhoto Library Manager could see only those 6 photos in the Original folder. There are none in "Modified". So iPLM obviously can't see the photos in Photos - Modified or in Photos - Original. Looking at the Info for these two folders, I see they were created on January 7, well more than a month before I downloaded Picasa. Somehow all but 6 of my photos got moved to these new folders. I must have done something to cause this but I have no clue what.
Sorry this is so long but usually details are important. Do you recommend that I use the Merge Libraries function in iPLM?
