Photo Sizing in Lightroom 3

When exporting from lightroom 3 I want to export the largest possible photo my camera will allow.  I am using a Sony Nex 3, 14 megapixel camera.  I am shooting in raw format.  In the photo sizing section I choose 1200 pixels, thinking this will create a large photo but when I open the file in photoshop after exporting it as a .tiff, the file is only 2"x3"  Can anyone tell me what settings I should choose to get a larger photo with good quality?

Try exporting without specifying  pixel dimensions (see image below). Set the resolution to 300 for best quality printing. Your export should be at the native resolution. My 21mp photos open in PS at about 18 x 12 inches. If I need to print lager I can adjust the resolution down to 240.

I have been trying to get help from Adobe for 3 days. I have sent a message through "Get Support", 2 days ago, but no one has contacted me. I have tried by phone, but no one will help me. When I purchased Lightroom in May, 2014, I was able to receive phone help. I am now told that I don't qualify because I am not a Creative Cloud customer.   I have been assigned a case number  186291729.
PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM

I, too, have this problem. I see no one is responding with a solution? Hello? Can someone please advise?
Oh, and, yes, I have manually verified repeatedly that the information I gave to Lightroom is correct, and I still get the same error message when I try to validate.

  • I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. Plug-in camera raw is missing

I can not open my photo, opened in lightroom, in photoshop CS4. a plug-in camera raw  xx is missing. Advice to update does not work. There is no plug-in in the map photoshop plug-ins.

This is expected. CS4 will never be able to open files from a current version of LR and a modern camera.

  • How do I transfer my photo's to lightroom from my iPhone?

How do I transfer my photo's to lightroom from my iPhone?

Welcome to the Apple community Brooke31.
Turn on photo stream on both devices, settings > iCloud on the phone, system preferences > iCloud on the Mac.
Photostream when enabled will only add photos from the camera roll that were taken post photostream activation. (Photostream does not currently share video)
You should connect your device to your computer with a USB cable and import any photos taken pre-activation manually.

  • Want to create photo strip in lightroom 4

So i can create a photo strip in Lightroom and i have (just adding 2x2.5" cells and dragging pictures over) but after trying to add an additional picture it changes all the cells to the new picture.  After researching it seems that Lightroom wont let you add/print different pictures on the same sheet.  So i have two questions:
    1.  Can you not add mutiple pictures in terms of a photo strip and print out in Lightroom 4?
    2.  What adobe software (or even apple aperture) can you create a custome photo strip and add text for the event at the bottom and print?  Preferrably something that is simple for like when my Canon 7D takes pictures and you can drag and drop into the cells, determine # of prints and print, on the spot.  I am starting a photo booth company where person #2 will manually move pics on my Macbook Pro (if need be) to the photo strip template and determine # of prints (not automated).
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Ad1:
Choose custom package in the upper right corner in print module.
Then you are free to put any cells on the print paper and drag any images in.
    Just no text.
Contact sheet or picture package do some unwanted automatism.
    Ad2:
It would help if you defined the term "film strip" precisely.
If you think e.g. of a pdf with one image per page and text underneath, I'd recommend the slideshow module in LR, as it can export to pdf.
Print module also works in contact sheet mode if 1 image per page e.g. with a caption or title underneath. Should also work for 2 images per page.
So tell what you want to achieve in unambiguous terms and we can suggest our trial results or alternative software.
Preferably you would continue your thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1024159?tstart=0 rather than starting a new one.

  • Deleting Photo Files in Lightroom 4

I use Aperture 3 and am thinking of switching to Lightroom 4.  I do not store my photos in the Aperture 3 library. Instead I store my photos in my own folder system on an external hard drive and I reference the files in Aperture.  This works well for most functions, but when I delete a photo from Aperture, it simply removes the thumbnail and all versions from Aperture, but does not delete the actual photo file on my hard drive.  If I want to delete the actual photo file I must click "show file in finder" and manually delete it from the finder window.
Is the process of organizing photos in your own folder system, and deleting unwanted photos, more seemlessly integrated in Lightroom 4?
    Thanks!

    Yes
When you start the delete, Lightroom will give the option to delete or simply remove the photo from the Lightroom catalog. Remove retains the file on disk whereas delete will delete the file.

  • Photo sizing for optimum use of space and quality viewing and downloading

    Greetings!
I am curious about photo sizing in iWeb.
I understand that if I drag a photo into a media placeholder (such as the blog pages), that the photo is automatically re-sized for that drop zone. (Is that correct?)
If I drag a picture to a spot on a blank page, and then drag corners to make the picture appear the size I want it to be, is the picture condensed to the necessary size digitally so that download and storage is appropriate?
Any knowledge shared will be so appreciated! My site will eventually be pretty bulky, so I need to start this out right, and not have 5 MB pictures on there if I only need KB pictures.

Silly me. I answered my own question--I tried it, and then right clicked on the pictures from the browser, and it resized my 5 MB pictures down to 35 KB and they look great.
    How freakin' easy!
    I love this mac!

  • Where should I store the collatoral files that are associated with photos stored in lightroom?

Where should I store the collatoral files that are associated with photos stored in lightroom? Items such as pdf files, word documents, etc. How should I connect them to each other so I can find both the photo and the related data?

Lightroom itself will not help you with pdf, word, etc.
However, there is a plugin you can use called AnyFile which will allow you to manage these documents in Lightroom (by assigning keywords and other metadata) so that you can search for all documents (photos, pdf, word, music, powerpoint, etc.) with given metadata.
Because you do this via metadata, it doesn't matter where you put these files. Put them anywhere you want.

  • All photos displayed in Lightroom are very dark

This has just started in the last few days. Now all my imports into Lightroom 1.4.1 appear very dark compared to shots on camera display or same photo displayed outside Lightroom. This applies to dng, raw, or jpeg. Old libraries now all appear dark. If you adjust in Lightroom to look right they appear washed out in every image viewer outside Lightroom. Import a jpeg that was previously exported from Lightroom and looked fine now looks very dark when imported back into Lightroom. I have reinstalled program and tried every setting I could think of and all photos still look very dark.

Hope this fixes it. Deleting the default profile will make windows (and therefore Lightroom) assume your display is exactly sRGB. This is a good first approximation, but to get correct color you need to actually calibrate. Note that after calibration, Lightroom and unmanaged apps will not exactly correspond to each other, but they should be close. Most importantly, the contrast should be the same as long as you calibrate to the standard gamma of 2.2. You should see tiny differences in color saturation and in shadow colors - this is normal.

  • Can I filter a liked photo from a lightroom mobile public link?

New to Lightroom so maybe I'm missing it but when someone likes a photo from a lightroom mobile public link how can I have a smart collection filter it? I understand how to if they add a comment but that is time consuming for them, liking a photo and filtering the result would be great. Thanks.

  • I try to drag a photo folder into lightroom 4 on my MAC, lightroom fails to open and a 'Corrupt Catalog Detected' screen pops up.  Clicking on 'repair catalog' does not work either.  Any suggestions?

I try to drag a photo folder into lightroom 4 on my MAC, lightroom fails to open and a 'Corrupt Catalog Detected' screen pops up.  Clicking on 'repair catalog' does not work either.  Any suggestions?

I'll have to get a better instructor on deleting the preferences since when I've doen it in the past nothing is there when I open LR the catalog is gone. I assumed that was what was supposed to happen so I start importing all over again.  But that is a different issue...
The problem has been happening since at least the beta of 3 came out and I saw other posts back then saying they had similar issues but I assume it was a beta thing...  But since the full version came out and through each incremental change I haven't seen an improvement. If anything it has gotten a little worse with time.
I have to try to be careful to not be in a hurry and start clicking around in the catalog as it seems fragile until it has cataloged all the photos in the library. When starting you will see the numbers populate the folders very slowly and I try not to click on a folder that hasn't had the number of photos pop up yet. Also draging the slider down to see more of the cataloge can have the same affect and crash the system.
I wish I had more to go on.. I believe it may be a resources issue but as I went from 3-4 Gig I thought it would get better. I don't have big programs running but did have outlook and word running in the background along with firefox and chrome.
And yes it only happens on this HP desktop (it's 2+ yrs old) and may be showing it's age a bit. My laptop which has less resources doesn't have the issue.. I have them sharing the catalog. (not at the same time) just when I'm working in other places in the house.

  • How do I import photos from a Lightroom Catolog into Elements 7.0?

Am trying to import my photos from a Lightroom catolog and cannot. I find the Lightroom folder, but the files wont import to Elements 7.0.

Do you want to  import the photos to the organizer? Then the previous poster gave you the right answer. However, it's not necessary to use the organizer if you already have your photos catalogued in lightroom. Instead, you can set PSE as your external editor and send the photos directly from LR. Lightroom preferences>external editor tab>browse to PSE. Then when you're in the editor or library modules, right click and choose to send the photo to elements.

  • Laptop monitor choice for photo editing with lightroom and photoshop

    Hi,
i'm going to buy a laptop, mostly for photo editing with lightroom and photoshop use.
I'm in trouble with the display choice.
One laptop has LG LP156WF4 or AUO B156HAN01 display, that should be very similar matte ips display with 55%-60% coverage of AdobeRGB. You can find a review in the "Display" section of these link : http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Clevo-W650SJ-Schenker-M504-Barebones-Notebook.114329.0 .html
The other laptop hasAU Optronics B156HW01 V.4 Matte 95%, that is a TN matte display with  95% coverage of AdobeRGB. You can find a review in these link (the display should be the green bar): http://www.anandtech.com/show/4649/mythlogic-pollux-1400-clevos-w150hr-tested/6
My question is: which one is better for photo editing with photoshop and lightroom?
Someone says that ips is better because of the fidelity of color reproduction, view angles and contrast.
Someone, on the other side, says that the TN 95% is better because of the gamut%.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Marco Grechi

Macbook pro is out of budget
Hp assistance said that in italy they don't sell laptop with dreamcolor (i'll call again tomorrow to be sure ) but i think that it would be out of budget (max 2000 euro).
They said that the best solution for me is the zbook 15 g2 (2300 euro), but they DON'T know brand and model of the display and if i can have SSD + HD inside the zbook 15 g2.
The laptop with the lg panel costs 1500 euro. the question is; "i know that the lg display is not the best, but is it almost sufficient for my use?". In this way i may save 500/800 to buy a separated display later.
I have read that dell xps 15 and dell precision m3800 have great display, but they are glossy and very reflective. Is it a big handicap?
    Do you know the 3k 15,6" display Panasonic VVX16T020G00 ? It should be a 8-bit display with 72%NTSC gamut ( http://www.panelook.com/VVX16T020G00_Panasonic_15.5_LCM_parameter_22014.html )
Do you sugget me a 3k display for photo editing?
    Thanks

  • Can I use the new Photos app with Lightroom?

I have been a user of Aperture but with the new Photos app I can no longer do that.  Will Lightroom work with the new Photos app?  I want better editing tools than Photos offers.

No, Lightroom and Photos cannot share a Library. They are both Photo Managers (neither is actually an editor) with non-destructive processing. The only way to get from one to another is to export to the Finder then import to the second app. It's hard to see a workflow that encompasses both apps.
Really you need to decide which app you want to use to manage your Photos: Photos is a free app geared at the consumer with a phone or point and shoot. Lightroom is geared for the serious hobbyist or Pro with a DSLR, Which photographer are you? Best to pick one horse and ride it.

I'm not a "Cloud" member. I just upgraded to Lightroom 6 from Lightroom 5. All was working well yesterday. Today Lightroom will not open (Windows 7). I see the logo photo over my Lightroom platform but nothing loads and I see "Lightroom not responding." I checked the catalogs and see that lrcat-Journal and lrcat-Lock have been created every time I try to open. I have a backup from the first day I upgraded, but Lightroom doesn't want to access it. Should I reinstall?

Well, is the catalogue (and the folder it is in) writable? Have you actually checked the permissions? Lightroom won't be spitting out the error just to tick you off, and - computer wizard or not - this sounds very much like something you'll have to fix at the OS level: it's probably nothing to do with Lightroom or those funny lads at Adobe.
