Photo smart folders not populated

I've gone through the pain of syncing 10,000 photos from 1 MacBook Air and 2 iPhones into 1 icloud Photo library. All good.
Then I went through the pain of converting events into keyword based smart folders. All good on the MacBook.
Not the folders and the photo stream appear on the iphones, but the folders are not populated.
Any ideas?

Smart folders not working...

I've got some smart folders that just stopped working... I haven't changed the definitions and they were working fine, but all of a sudden they are not.
The one that is not working is defined with 3 things, one of them is another smart filter. This has always worked in the past.
I booted the machine, and inso doing went in and out of mail. Is there anything to reset?

I found a work around... but I'm still curious why this stopped working...
The original logic was to have a sort of pre-filter Smart Mailbox with tons of conditions with "Any" selected. Then the second folder had "All" selected with "In the pre-filter mailbox" and "in the inbox selected". This stopped working and I had to then change it to "In the pre-filter mailbox" and "not in the specific folder I later sort into" This isn't quite as useful since sometimes I sort into different folders, but it did work.
I'm on 10.4.10 on a PPC iMac G5 1GB DDR2 SDRAM... I've done all the updates Apple can put out here except the iPod stuff since I'm not in that world... yet.

Upgrade from Tiger makes smart folders not work any more.

I tag certain categories of applications with Spotlight comments, and create a smart folder to find those files with that Spotlight comment. This way I can have a folder for 'games', for example.
Those smart folders don't work any more in Snow Leopard.
The Spotlight comments are still there, tho.
Here is what is stranger. If I recreate the smart folder, it still does not work.

Ug! I have to reenter all the Spotlight comments on each Application. That fixes it.
Not sure if recreating smart folders was necessary, tho.

Smart Folders not displaying emails

I have a few smart folders set up that I use on a daily basis in Mail. One displays all the mail that came in Today, one for Yesterday etc.
After upgrading to Yosemite, the folders are no longer displaying the messages (in the Unread folder it says 3 but in the Inbox there are 72 unread). Even the badge on the Mail icon says I have 3 messages which is false.
I use iCloud and 2 Gmail accounts

Never mind. Looks like it just needed time to sort itself out - seems to be correctly reading all the mail again.

Smart Folders not working in Addressbook

When i use the smart group function of my addressbook it doesn't mather what rules i specify ... i always get everyone in my addressbook.
How can i make this work ?
I have r/w rights on the addressbook folder so that shouldn't be a problem.

Photos in Folders not displaying picture!?

I’m having a strange problem that keeps getting worse.
Currently I’m transferring thousands of photos from an external hard drive to Iphoto. However, the photos on my external hard drive, in folders, only show the “JPEG” logo and not the actual picture, making it impossible to organize anything. If I log out or restart my computer, the photos will again, for a while, be visible, but eventually (sometimes just a few minutes) all the photos will again only show the JPEG logo. This seems to be happening more and more frequently and is extremely aggravating. Could someone please help me fix this issue??

Nobody else has ever had this problem?

Smart Folders not editable?

Hi all.
I just created an smart folder with the only critera that the kind should be an application. Thought I could stick this in my dock so I get an stack of all the applications I have so I can easily find the ones I don't use that often. Now, my problem is that it doesn't show up as an stack and I can't set the sort order for this folder and I also can't find an option to edit this folder.

Home folders not populating correctly

I have my OD Master server bound to Active Directory and I am hosting my mac users ( who are in Active Directory) home folder on the the OD Master. When I create the home folder and log in with one of the users for the first time, the only folders that get created are Desktop, Downloads, and Library. How can I get the the rest of them to created like they are suppose to.

I see you are looking into your scan options. I would like to try and help.
Due to the age of the printer, there is no HP software for this printer on Mavericks. You can, however, utilize the Mac in-OS basic print and scan drivers. I am including a document on Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac that should help resolve this, specifically the section of the document entitled "How do I scan with the driver from Apple Software Update?"

Smart folders seems not to work with star rating. Is there a fix?

I Rate photos with a five star rating either on iPhoto or Adobe Bridge CS5. When I create a smart folder setting the search attribute to "Rating equals 5" nothing appears on the search.

I think I misunderstood your question. You were talking about smart folders in the Finder and not about smart albums in iPhoto, right? "Rating equals 5" does not work on any of my machines, neither in Snow leopard nor in Lion. The problem seems to be how to represent the rating in the search string. If I search for "Rating is not 5" the smart folder contains plenty of pictures, also those with a rating of five. Does anyone know how the rating is coded to be used in a search string in the Finder?

HT204487 iPhoto Event Driven Smart Folders Destroyed in Photos

I have 10 smart albums based on named events in iPhoto that don't even show up in Photos. I have 20 more smart albums that came across but not one folder have the correct pictures. I know that I can use iPhoto but the last update of that app no longer puts the photos in the correct order so that's broken also! Is there any way to reconstruct event driven smart folders in Photos? This is a two year project with hundreds of photos that for the most part is ruined.

Are you sure that the "On My Mac" folders weren't empty? If all your mail accounts are IMAP, they may have been.

Let's see if we can square this away for you. With backing up your iPhone, it will back everything you have using iTunes and if you use iCloud, by default, backs up everything. After you have made a backup you can restore that to put the contents of the backup on your replacement iPhone. If you want to put certain things back on, you will at least need to export the content to your computer, like your photos and videos. If you only want to put certain things back on, then you will need to sync that over with iTunes. All the information you will need are in the articles below.

View photo folders not files in CS5 Bridge

How do I get back to the view of my photo folders? I can only see individual photo files, and not all of them now. Don't know what I did to make this happen. I have a 2009 iMac and CS5 Bridge (Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium).

Go to the folder panel (if it is not in view go to menu window and select
folders panel) and inhere choose the main folder where your images are
nested in subfolders.
If you select a main folder with only subfolders it shows you only folder
icons, if there are also images in that main folder itself it shows you both
the files and folders.
Using the command 'show items from subfolders' (menu view) you get both
folder and all the files from that main folder.

Sidebar Places Folders NOT working as a Smart Folder

I have three sidebar Places Folders that I originally made, but now they do not work as an expected Smart Folder. The additional problem is I cannot remove these sidebar folders by simply dragging them OFF the side bar. If I right click on these three problem sidebar folders I am only allowed to "Open Sidebar Preferences" and further more the sidebar folder cannot be highlighted. What can I do to remove these folders from the sidebar?
