Photo storage space

so guys, today i was looking in my itunes and it says i got like 6GB of photos, i erased all the ones that sync with the computer, but still got 2.9GB of pictures.... i have about 200 photos in my camera roll.... how is this possible??
i just want to keep my messages in case i have to restore again.... and maybe the folders for my 108 applications....
suggestions?

You can't delete Photo Library because the actual photos are all in Photo Library. The other albums only contain links to the photos, not duplicates. They act like playlists, allowing you a choice to either view all you synced photos (by viewing Photo Library) or to view a subsets of your synced photos (by viewing individual albums). IPhone 4 - photo storage space not being freed after deletion

Wondering if anyone could help me with this - I'd be incredibly grateful!
I've got an iPhone 4 (32GB) and I ended up taking so many photos and videos that they were taking up over 16gig in total (I have well over 3,000 including lots of videos).
Anyhow, they were only on the camera roll, I hadnt synced any photos through folders etc., literally just had my camera roll. Anyhow, I have deleted all of these photos but for some reason they are still being recognised as taking up over 16 gig of space on the storage bar when I connect it to itunes. I've also gone into 'settings' and 'about' and whilst its acknowledging that the photos arent there in numbers, its still saying I have only 9gig left which is ridiculous as I only have like 12 songs on there!
Any suggestions on what to do - I've tried doing a restore from backup, a soft reset etc. etc. I really don't want to do a factor reset as I will lose all my notes etc which would really irritate me.

Here's a Solution which works 99%.
After giving up on studying various sources on this topics and trying to delete it from my iPhone 3GS, I gave a last chance and Vualá!
A quick tip: simply clean your DCIM folder it via iFunBox. If not familiar with this keyword, read below:
Step by step Solution:
download latest iFunBox;
install it on your PC, run it, connect your iPhone via USB;
Click on GENERAL STORAGE, then get back to Media folder:
Open DCIM folder:
Select ALL folders in DCIM, right-click for sub-menu, choose DELETE:
Wait until is done, disconnect you iPhone, go to Settings ... Usage, scroll down until you'll find Photos and tap on it.
At last, you must see a 0 bytes of taken space:
Enjoy.

Photo storage/space problem

Hi. I have around 6.5k photos in my pictures of my computer. so i decided to import all of them into my phone. I notice how it synced all the photos in the folders within the my pictures folder. So all the subfolders show up as albums and have the photos in them.
There are 2 other albums. Photo Library and My Pictures. Photo Library has every single photo i have in my pictures. including photos inside the subfolders. so basically there are 2 of each photo on my phone. one in the actual folder it is in and one in the photo library. the "my pictures" album on my phone has all the photos in the "my pictures" folder on my laptop that arent in any subfolders. so those are also repeated twice in the photo library album. is there anyway i can remove the photo library album so it doesnt repeat every photo and take more space? or does it not take extra space?

I ran out of photo storage space while traveling, so I don't have my laptop. How to make more room (besides deletion)?

There's no more room on my iphone, and I won't have a laptop for another month. I thought turning on icloud on my phone would do the trick, but nothing is happening. I don't want to delete my summer-long trip photos! Any solutions are appreciated.

i use dropbox when on the go. you can upload straight from your iPhone.

To add to Nick's comments, "Other" is typically approximately 1 gigabyte. Occasionally for some users, it gets much (many times) bigger because they have some corrupt files. If that's the case, it's best to restore the iPhone.
Plug the iPhone into (current) iTunes, let it sync, then choose "Restore" on the right. If restoring from the iPhone backup does not help, then restore (again) as new and then manaully sync the iPhone.

ICloud photo library and iPhone/iPad storage space

Hi,
I use iCloud photo library beta for some time and it's a great feature for apple product. However, I'm a bit worried about what happend after some time. Now I have 20Gb of storage in iCLoud and 16Gb iPhone 6 and iPad air 2. On both of them is the "optimize iPhone/iPad storage" checked. What will happen after I would put 20Gb of photos to the iCloud and the iPhone and iPad wouldn't have enough storage to handle them (even when the photos are optimize)?

Hi jakudo,
"optimize iPad/iPhone storage" means that photos don't have to take any storage capacity of your devices, if you are using your devices storage capacity e.g. for other content like music, apps etc. Your photos will be stored in the cloud and only a some of them are stored locally as long as you have storage space available. The only thing you have to do, is upgrading for more storage as soon as your passing the 20 GB.

Exporting photos from iPhoto - storage space

This might be a silly question, but I'm not very familiar with how iPhoto works.
If I export a photo from iPhoto and save it to a folder in Finder, am I doubling up on storage space?
I do this because I prefer to arrange my photos/albums in folders like I use to on a windows computer, and I don't really like how iPhoto groups and organizes my photos.

Yes, you will be doubling the amount of disk space used. iPhoto is based on a SQUL database like Aperture and uses virtual folders, albums, keywords, descriptions, titles to group and keep track of photos. It's not a file based system like you would have in the Finder. In iPhoto a photo can be grouped in multiple albums, slideshows, books, etc. and not take up any additional space on the hard drive.
Read Terence Devlin's post in this topic as he details how to manage photos in iPhoto more succinctly that I could: Better way to organize my images?: Apple Support Communities.
If you want to keep using a file system then iPhoto is not the application for you. Maybe look into Picasa for Mac or one of the professional DAM (digital asset management) apps like Media Pro 1.

Does photo stream use storage space on iPhone?

Mine came with 13.5 GB, am down to 6.2 available, also, if i transfered all of my iphone photos to my photo library on my mac,it should be safe to delete them on phone's camera roll and steam,right? Yes. Both iPhoto and Image Capture include an option to delete photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll after the import process is complete as with any other digital camera.
If you don't have another iOS device and you aren't interested in making use of the iPhoto option on your Mac to automatically import photos from your Photo Stream so you don't have to do this manually, you don't need Photo Stream enabled. Be sure to import from the Camera Roll often and/or back up your iPhone regularly without having Photo Stream enabled.

I have a 20gb u2 photo iPod. I'm using an ipod photo connector and it seems to only let me store about 2gb of photos when this is still like 12gb of free space on the ipod. What is the go with that?

Do you mean that you want to create a two way mirror storage space with 6TB space?
Based on my test, I create three VHD, two 4GB VHD and one 8 GB VHD.
And then try to create a two way mirror storage space. Please take a look at the following screenshot.
The total pool capacity is only 13.7 GB, so I can create a 8GB storage space with fault tolerant.

The "iCloud Photo Library" is still in beta right now and is not operational. it will probably be operational when the new Mac OS is released. When it is operational, both your iPad and iPhone will have the same "iCloud Photo Library".

Icloud Photo Library is not an Archive. If you delete photos from your device they will also be deleted from the iCloud Photo library.

Right now, there is no way to upload and access photos in iCloud. You need to import them to a computer if you want to be able to retrieve them later:
