Photo stream all go to iphoto not other ios

Hello,
We have a few iDevices in our family, tied to a single Apple ID/iCloud account, and also an iMac at home. What I would like to be able to do is have all the photos taken with any of our iDevices 'flow' via the Photo Stream to iPhoto on our Mac. However, I don't really need/want to have those same pic's copied to our other iOS devices. It makes for a neat demo trick, but we simply don't have the free space on them to hold duplicate photos. So, metaphotically speaking, we'd like have the iOS Photo 'Streams' meet at the iMac iPhoto River at home.
Seems like simple concept, but I haven't been able to see exactly to do this. All the FAQ's continue to tout the photo copies flowing to 'all my devices'.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Chris,
If you have iCloud signed on on your Mac, and Photo Stream turned on, then the Photo Stream will be in iPhoto under the Web section. If in iPhoto go to Preferences>Photo Stream, and click on the "Automatic Import" option, it will automatically import your monthly photo stream into your iPhoto library.
You must have Photo Stream turned on on all of your devices to make this happen, however. But having the Photo Stream on the device does not take up any room. The photos are housed in iCloud, so having them in both your Camera Roll and Photo Stream is not taking up more room.
Cheers,
GB

When I connected my iPhone and iPad via iCloud not all photos in my photo stream copied over. Why not and how do I fix it?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Only the last 30 days of photos are kept in photo stream in the cloud for syncing. Devices that have been syncing with photo stream for some time may retain older photographs that newer devices do not receive from photo stream.

  • Photo Stream and MobileMe in iPhoto: I don't get it!

    Hi
Photo Stream is on for iPhoto on my iMac, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch.
I'm somewhat confused about how to handle this feature - aside from the basic understanding that it syncs photos I take, say, on my iPhone, to all other devices without the need to manually sync.
    Could someone please confirm / suggest answers to the following;
    1) photos I take on my iPhone are shown in my camera roll and under a separate photo stream roll.  I understand that photo stream on iOS devices holds the last 1000 images taken (unless you delete some following iOS 5.1).  Correct?
    2) my iPhoto library on my iMac stores 100% of the photo stream photos thereby negating the need to manually sync my iPhone (which I use to take photos) with iMac. Correct again?
    3) Under 'Events' on iPhoto (iMac) it seems to create a new 'event' every month (and christens it, say, as 'March 2012 photo stream' for example) which holds that months images taken.
    a) the folders appear in the top left hand corner of the 'Events' page which I don't like as all other events are shown in chronological order (i.e. the latest 'event' being in the bottom right corner of the page). Can I do anything about this, as in set it so that the photo stream folders create themselves at the bottom of the screen after the previous last event?
    b) These monthly 'events' are just that; events that have happened within that last month which could comprise of several different events.  I categorise by actual event rather than everything that has happened within a particular time frame.  This therefore immediately conflicts with photo stream.  I presume I am perhaps meant to select certain 'events' within the month's photo stream and then create a new 'event' from that but I don't know how to do this?  Could anyone advise how / what they do?
    4) I had a MobileMe account which expired last year.  Instead of resurrecting the email address for my iCloud account I chose a slightly different one.  This seems to pose a problem as under 'Albums' I have several MobileMe albums which generate a pop-up box asking me to log in.  As my MobileMe account is expired, the password prompt is not accepted.  I therefore can't share my photos as I previously did.  Is there a work-around?
    Thanks!

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. a: View Menu -> Sort Events
    3. b Flag the photos you want to move and go Events -> Create Event from Flagged Photos

  • HT4906 How can I get Photo Stream to work in iPhoto on my iMac?

Photo Stream folder acts as if it has never been used. Yellow box shows directions on how to get started. Even though I have had it working successfully in the past, I tried each of the methods. No luck.
I have gone through the process of verifying that photo stream is turned on properly on all devices (iPhone 5, iPad (original), and iMac (2011). If I download from my camera, all pictures show up on iPhone and iPad, but not in Photo Stream folder on iMac iPhoto. The date after the title "Photo Stream" shows December 5, 2011. (That's probably when I started using this iMac).

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Then check the iPhoto/Photo Stream preference pane to make sure the necessary checkboxes are checked.

  • Delete photos from photo stream but keep in iphoto?

I want to delete the pictures in my photostream on my phone, but I know once I do this they will be deleted from all other devices. How can I save all my photostream pictures that are already in iphoto and then remove them from my phone without them disappearing on my computer?

As long as they are in the iPhoto library and not just in the iCloud category on the Side Bar then you will be good.
It will delete them from iCloud in the Shared section on the Side Bar and on all devices but they will remain in the iPhoto if you imported them.
If you are really unsure, drag them all from your Photo Stream into a folder on your desktop. That way if they weren'y imported you will still have them after you delete your Photo Stream photos.
Photo Stream will only keep 1000 photos on an iOS device deleting the oldest to keep you at 1000. You can just let Photo Stream manage itself. Apple does not count Photo Stream against your iCloud storage.

You are posting in the "icloud on my mac" forum, but your profile mentions Windows.  If using a mac, you need to have iphoto or aperture installed in order to receive new photos via photo stream.  If using windows, try posting in the iCloud on a PC forum.  You'll get better help there.

iCloud.com does not have a photos tab.  You would access these pictures on your computer via iPhoto, or on another iOS device.

  • My iPad camera photos will wirelessly sync with my iMac and iCLoud photo stream, but the videos do not, is USB connection the only way to transfer videos or is there also a wireless method?

My iPad camera photos will wirelessly sync with my iMac and iCLoud photo stream, but the videos do not, is USB connection the only way to transfer videos or is there also a wireless method?

Videos are not included with the Photo Stream. Photo Stream is for photos only.
There is not a wireless method for importing videos from the iPad's Camera Roll.

  • How come when you delete a photo in photo stream folder (PC), it is not deleted in the photo stream (iPhone)?

If you upload a photo in the 'Photo Stream Uploads' folder (PC), it is automatically imported to iPhone (via Wi-Fi). How come when you delete a photo from the Photo Stream folder (PC), it is not deleted in the Photo Stream (iPhone)?? I mean doesn't iCloud automatically update the changes? thanks.

You cannot delete photos from the photo stream.  You can only log into icloud and in your account, you can delete photo stream and start fresh.  It is rumored that the next upgrade to iOS will allow deletions of single photos from the stream, but not yet.

  • HT201317 Some of my photos in my Photo  Stream on my iPhone are not going over automatically to my computer.  How do I fix this?

Some of my photos in my Photo Stream on my iPhone are not going over to my laptop.  I can't figure  out why, and I use them for scrapbooking.  My laptop is a PC NOT a MAC.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
For the avoidance of doubt, are the photos actually in photo stream on your iPhone or just in your camera roll?
If they are in photo stream, then you might try turning photo stream off and on again on both devices, restarting both devices before enabling photo stream once again.

  • My photo stream on my iPhone does not copy to my ipad

my photo stream on my iPhone does not copy to my ipad

Make sure they are signed into the same iCloud account with my photo stream enabled.  If you are only missing older photos in your iPad's photo stream, it may be because when you first enble it you only get photos from the last 30 days.  If you enabled photo stream on your iPad later than you did on your phone, you may have older photo stream photos on your phone that did not stream to your iPad.

  • Photo Stream no longer working on PC after iOS 8

Photo Stream has always worked well for me, automatically uploading all photos taken with my iPhone to my Windows 7 PC.  However, since I updated to iOS 8, Photo Stream no longer uploads to the PC.  It works on all my iOS devices, but no longer uploads new photos to the PC.  I have re-installed iCloud for Windows, but this has not made a difference.  Am I overlooking something or is this a common problem iOS 8 users are having?
    Thanks for your help!

After upgrading to iOS 8.1, upgrading to the latest iTunes and re-installing iCloud for Windows, Photo Stream is working again!
