Photo Stream Behavior Win 7/iCloud

I have 2 iPhones setup exactly the same (pretty sure), one with my iCloud account, the other with my wife's iCloud account.
I've got iCloud/photo stream setup on a windows 7 system, and everything has been working well, but....
Just today i noticed when i cleaned off all the photots from my wife's iPhone (photo stream and camera roll), that all her photo just vanished from the "My Photo Stream" directory on windows.....
This is new behavior as it has never happened before, further more, when i do the same with my phone, the photos stay.
Logged in and out of both of our iCloud accounts on the PC several times, and it always deletes my wife's photos, and never mine.
Is there some sort of setup option that I am missing here?
Odd!

I think I have found the reason for our problems?  Photo Stream will only upload photos with a "Date Taken" date higher than the date when you initialised or when you last reset your Photo Stream.  So if you are trying to upload older photos it won't work,  They should be fresh out of the oven to be Photo Streamed.
I have managed to Photo Stream older pictures by using windows to copy and remove all Properties and Personal Information then setting the Date Taken to todays date before mobing the photo into the Upload folder.  Still, it seems a little hit and miss so there's probably something else being checked to validate photos can be Photo Streamed.
So iCloud will move photos between your Windows 7 machine and your iOS5 device but it's a little picky about which ones it will allow. If you can figure out what exactly are the parameters please do tell.

  • Will turning off My Photo Stream also turn off iCloud Photo Sharing?

I don't like the new Photos app in iOS 8.  I was a frequent user of the iPhoto app and am sad to see it go.  It was the best app I found for quick white balance fixes (you could point to skin on a picture and it set the white balance appropriately).  It was also great for seeing EXIF data, location data, and for sending photos to other editing apps.  The Photos app has limited support for sending to other editing apps, actually it doesn't send photos to any of the editing apps.  It also does not readily display photo informations.  The edits in the Photo app leave something to be desired (since it meant the demise of iPhoto).  I am also not a fan of how camera roll and Photo Stream are meshed together.  My family uses the iPhoto desktop app which is tied to my Photo Steam.  In iOS 7 it was easy to just ignore the Photo Stream since it would include everyone's photos and work on my camera roll, but now it's a cluttered mess.
Since I have a subscription to Adobe Lightroom there is no need for the Photo Stream backup, so I am tempted to turn My Photo Stream off.  As indicated in the title, I would like to know if turning off My Photo Stream will also delete photos I've shared in iCloud with other users.  I would like those photos to stay and the ability to share photos going forward.  Since My Photo Stream and sharing on iCloud are two different options in Setting, I assume that turning one off won't affect the other.  Can anyone verify?

Save your photo stream photos to your camera roll by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  Then you can delete them from photo stream and the copies in the camera roll will remain on your phone.  Note: deleting them from photo stream will delete them from iCloud and all your devices.

I don't see a photo stream choice in my iCloud on my iPad. How do I restore it

Insufficient information. A few questions that may help somebody here help you:
Does your use of the term "restore" indicate it used to be there and now is missing, or have you not tried it before?
What model iPad do you have?
What version of iOS does it run?

How long do shared photo stream albums stay in iCloud?

I actually found the FAQ for Shared Photo Streams and the answer is:
    Do shared streams ever expire?
No. Shared streams are removed from iCloud only if you delete the photo stream.

I had my photo stream on and my icloud all set up, i just had the screen replaced and they somehow lost all the photos off my phone, but why wont the photo's reload back on to my iphone now that im connected to wifi again, where are all my photos???

When photos are added to the photo stream album on a device (either due to a new photo having been taken or having been synced from another device using the stream) they remain in the album.  However, the syncing process involves copying the photos to the photo stream server where they are kept for a maximum of 30 days, up to 1000 photos.  If a device is reset or the stream is turned off or turned back on again (or in your case, the device was repaired), the photos that were on the device's photo stream album are gone and the only ones to appear are those that are currently on the servers (recall the 30 day limit).
If some of your photos are older than 30 days, then they are no longer stored on the cloud and hence are not synced down to the iphone.
Recall, photo stream is just a syncing service, it is not designed as a storage service for photos.  Always sync photos to a computer for archiving.

I have added photos from iPhoto into Photo Stream and enabled my iCloud but I can't see any uploaded photos. Does this sound right?

Enable PhotoStream in iCloud first, then add the photos to PhotoStream in iCloud. Of course, you will need PhotoStream also enabled on your other devices also in order to view them.

  • HT4890 why doesn't a photo stream icon appear on iCloud although it's enabled

    Because it isn't supposed to.
Photostream is for sharing photos across your devices.

  • My photos are not going automatically to my laptop in photo stream.  I have iCloud

My photos are not going automatically to my laptop in photo stream.  I have icloud.

As for iCloud Settings, make sure, that in Settings > iCloud "Photo Stream" is turned on, on both the phone, and the iPad. If that is the case, make sure you are in the right photo-folder on the iPad (in your case). You might be in the "Saved Photos" folder, into which the new photos are NOT automatically downloaded. If that is the case, know the following: It make take a while though for photos to be uploaded to iCloud and then downloaded again by the other device, depending on the network. Give it some time, say 10-15 minutes (check your internet connection before that). If it still doesn't work, try an iCloud backup (Settings > iCloud > Backup to iCloud) on both your devices.

  • How do I delete Photo Stream from Win XP PC

I have turned off Photo Steam on one of my 2 iPads, and both iphones, and should only have 30 pics in Photo Stream from the 1st iPad. However, when I look at photo stream on Apple TV, I have all of the photos that were ever in photo stream (hundreds). I have reset my iCloud photo stream online to empty, but I can't get rid of all those phoptos that I don't want. I can't install iCloud control panel, as I only have an XP, and I don't find the photos in the C dive/Users.
Where would I find the photos?

  • HT4847 Photo Stream Backing Up To iCloud as Camera Roll

I have photostream enabled on my iPhone and iPad plus my Macbook.
I'm showing all the photos I took on my phone in photo stream and the camera roll on my ipad under the camera and in photo stream under photos. I curious if backups to icloud are including those photos to icloud.
As i have the same number of programs on the ipad and iphone but i have a 1.1 GB back up from iphone but a 2.4 GB back up from ipad.

I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
    Good luck…

  • Why did Photo stream not sync in iCloud

Why didn't photo stream sync with iCloud on? I turned it on for both devices.

Photo stream only adds photos taken on your device after turning it on.  Earlier photos aren't added.  New photos are added when the camera is closed, the device is connected to wifi and it has at least 20% battery life remaining.  Both devices also have to be sharing the same iCloud account to receive photos from your photo stream.  (If they aren't sharing the same iCloud account you would have to create a shared photo stream album and share this with your other device.  This article discusses how to do this: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99.)
Try taking a new photo on one of your devices, close the camera app, then be sure you are connected to wifi.  Then see if it streams to your other device (assuming it is signed into the same iCloud account).

  • Why isn't my photo stream backing up to iCloud anymore?

I have all the boxes ticked for my phone to automatically back up and it has been backing up photos until Nov 19th. I've tried manually backing up and also exiting out of the camera ap on my phone, but I just can't get my photos I've taken since Nov 19th into my iCloud, I have plenty of storage too.

  • Can I have 2 My Photo Stream Album on my iCloud Account?

    Hi!
We have 3 Apple TV's set-up in our space in different locations and using 1 icloud account, just want to know if it's possible to have 3 different My Photo Stream Album so we have 3 different sets of photos on each apple tv. If YES, how? If no, is there any way to do that?
    Thanks

No you can't. But what you can do is when you want to see your sons account just sign out of yours and sign in to his. Then when you want to use yours just sign in with yours. It will only take a minuet or so to do this. And you can save usage capacity by only having one

  • Windows 7 Photo Stream not syncing after iCloud 3.0

HELP!  I am a relatively new to the IPhone community.  My husband bought me one for Christmas 2013.  I have the IPhone 5s .  Like many users, I want to be able to back up the pictures I take and or receive on my phone to my computer.  I have a Dell laptop running on Windows 7.  I downloaded iCloud 3.0 and have the checked off the box next to Photos.  I also have Photos turned on in the ICloud settings on my phone.  I experienced this problem back in April, where my photos were not syncing to my computer. I contacted Apple Support, and he ran several tests.  I took a couple of pictures, and they started syncing.  While I was not able to get all of my photos, I had the majority of them and I figured the problem was solved and would continue to sync from there on out.
I just checked this past weekend and saw none of my recent photos were there.  I proceeded to google the subject, tried deleting the ICloud control panel and redownloaded it, and then forced a backup on my phone.  It only backed up 87 of the 517 photos I have in my Photo Stream.  I tried these trouble shooting options below but once again, only have 90 of the 517 photos I have:
    1. Open Task Manager (ctrl, alt and delete) and end ApplePhotoStream.exe and AppltPhotoStreamDownloader.exe if they’re running.
    2. Go to your Users folder and navigate to the following path: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MediaStream\
    3. Delete everything in that folder.
These files are a local cache of what has already been synced but it appears to get stuck so deleting these files forces it to resync again from scratch.
    4. Open iCloud Control Panel and make sure “Photos” are checked.
The above steps force re-downloading of images after any stuck point. It should make sure that your newer images are downloaded.
My husband has an IPhone as well, and his photos sync no problem to his IPad.  I am assuming this works better since they are both Apple Products.  Can someone please help me resolve this issue as I would like to be able to get my photos on my computer so I can delete some of them off my phone?

If the missing photos were added to photo stream more than 30 days ago they are no longer in iCloud (although they may still be on your your phone).  In that case, to get the older photos to stream to your computer you can add them to a shared stream on your phone (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99).  (Note: when creating the shared stream, you don't have to invite any subscribers.  As the owner of the shared stream you are automatically subscribed to it; just skip that step.)  Another option is to save them to the camera roll on the phone and import them to your computer using your usb cable, as explained here: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer.
