Photo Stream deletion and iOS 5.1...

I recently upgraded to iOS 5.1 because I can now delete pictures in my Photo Stream.  A great new featuer I would say!  I went into my iPhoto 9.2.2 and then to Photo Stream and delete a lot of pictures from the stream.  However, when I check on my iPad and iPhone, both with 5.1 upgrades, those deleted pictures are still there.  I also see from a quick Google search which someone said, for picture deletions to be reflected across all devices (iPad, iPhone, etc…), the deletions must be from pictures taken with iOS 5.1.  Older pictures taken with iOS 5 will not work.  Can someone chime in if this is true or not?
Thanks!

Ok just verified that older pictures taken before 5.1 will not delete on all devices. I took a picture on my iphone and verified it showed up on my macbook air and ipad then I deleted it on my iphone and it deleted on all devices. When trying to delete anything taken prior to 5.1 it will only delete on only that device. I guess deleting the whole stream is the only way to fix it and start over. Still kinda ***** you can't delete them all from one device and it propagates to all devices.

  • Deleted Photos from iPhone still show up in Photo Stream on iPad: iOS 6

Okay, I've done a lot of searching and can't find any solution for this.  I'm on iOS 6 on all devices, so none of the iOS 5.x article / discussions apply.
I have my iPhone 5, my wife has an iPhone 4, we have an iMac, and an iPad 2.  Here's the situation.  We use iCloud and Photo Stream is enabled on all four devices, and all share a single Apple ID.
I have many photos (let's say 100) I've taken on my iPhone 5 over the last several months, and with Photo Stream enabled, they were automatically copied to all of my other devices.  Great.  Now, I'd like to delete let's say 20 of those photos.  On my iPhone 5, I go to "My Photo Stream" and mark all 20 of them and delete them.  I get the pop-up confirmation that they will be deleted from the Photo Stream on all my devices. Great, exactly what I want.
The photos delete from my iPhone 5, my wife's iPhone 4, and my iMac.  However, they still appear on my iPad under Photos, Photo Stream, and under Events (September 2012 Photo Stream, October 2012 Photo Stream, November 2012 Photo Stream events).  I can not delete them from my iPad.
    I have tried:
    1. Selecting each photo, there is no option to delete
    2. Selecting edit, and then selecting a photo, the delete button is disabled
    3. Disabling Photo Stream on my iPad, and rebooting.  All photos in "My Photo Stream" on iPad are deleted, but not the photos that were sourced by other devices, they still appear under Photos, Photo Stream, and the monthly Photo Stream events
So... How do I delete these photos from my iPad?
    Cheers,
    Gouda

Okay, finally figured out what was going on.  Positng the solution here in case it might help someone else with a similar problem.
    Here's what was happening:
    1. iPhone5/iPhone4/iPad/iMac all had iCloud + Photo Stream so Photos were shared
    2. iMac was setup with iPhoto to automatically import and save Photo Stream photos
    3. iPad was setup to wirelessly sync all albums from iPhoto
So, when photos were shared using Photo Stream to iMac, it would backup to an album in iPhoto, and sync to the iPad.  Deleting the original photo on the iPhone would delete the photo from the Photo Stream on all devices, but it had already been added to a permanent album in iPhoto (e.g., "September 2012 Photo Stream").  This album was then automatically synced to the iPad.  So, deleteing the photo from Photo Stream would clear it from the iPhones, but not the iPad.
    To delete the photos:
    1. Delete the photo from "My Photo Stream" in the source device (the device used to take the picture), this will delete it from the active Photo Stream on all devices
    2. On the iMac, go into the automatically created monthly Photo Stream events, and delete the photos from there
    3. In iTunes, initiate a Sync with the iPad, which will update the syncronized albums/events there, removing the photos on the iPad as well
Hope that's able to help someone in the future...
    Cheers,
    Gouda

  • How can iTune-synched photos be deleted from iOS devices if the iTunes computer is no longer available?

How can iTunes-synched photos be deleted from iOS devices if the iTunes computer is no longer available?
This can happen because the iOS device is on travels distant from the iTunes computer, because the iTunes computer is on travels distant from the iOS device, because the iTunes computer has failed permanently, because the iTunes computer has been stolen, etc.

    KRDHarris-
The only possibility I can think of, is to consult with an Apple Store Genius.  See if there is some kind of Apple proprietary software or diagnostic tool that can do it.
I do not think you want to, but you could go to Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings.  If you decided to do that, you might be able to restore from a previous backup when you get home.

    mlvov,
I did as you said and went to the icloud control panel on my Windows 8 Laptop to be sure I was looking at the correct folder for my photo stream.  All my "shared" albulms pushed to my Laptop and are up-to-date with the exception of the "photostream" album. If I create a "shared stream album" and place photo's in it on the phone; I can see the photos on my laptop. I dont get it. I had a iphone 4s and had zero isues and now with my new nifty iPhone 5s it doesent work.
What am I not doing correctly.
    Thanks,

The photos in my photo stream removed and it says you don't have enough storage and your device why I am receiving this message and why my photos erased from photo stream

    Try deleting the old backup.
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the device name and on the resulting screen, scroll down and tap on Delete Backup.

  • Why did my iPhone photos get deleted and can I recover them?

An entire album's worth of photos were deleted and I want to know why and if I can recover them.
I have an iPhone 4S on iOS 6, iTunes 10, PC user.  Under "photo albums" I created a new album called "job photos" which I've been moving photos to as needed.  Today I took a bunch of picutures at work with my iPhone, and before I got to my computer I moved them over from the "camera roll" to the "job photos" album, then deleted the originals in "camera roll".  Everything worked fine until I synced the phone to iTunes.
Up until today I've been syncing a folder on my PC with a bunch of photos to my iPhone.  In order to save space on the phone I unchecked the "sync" box to stop syncing those photos.  After the phone was done syncing not only was my PC album gone but all the photos in my "job photos" album were gone too.  ***?
Why did this happen and is there a way to recover the photos I just lost?  My iPhone wasn't backed up so I wouldn't be able to do a backup recovery.  Please help.

You lost the photos because the actual data is in Camera Roll.  When you see pix in albums, it is by virtue of pointers to the actual storage in Camera Roll.  Otherwise, you would be using up storage by creating albums.  SO, do not delete from Camera Roll until you have copied to your PC.

  • Can't find My Photo Stream album after iOS 8 update

Can't find My Photo Stream album after iOS 8 update. Is anyone else having this problem.

That album, My Photo Stream, is no longer used.
Instead, look in "Recently Added" within Albums, and also within Photos in the various timescale views. Both places should contain photos taken by any of your devices.

  • HT4858 with photo stream on and importing pictures from your camera into your Ipad - after 30 days the pictures will be removed from photo stream, but will the pictures still be in your Ipad ? andy

with photo stream on and importing pictures from your camera into your Ipad - after 30 days the pictures will be removed from photo stream, but will the pictures still be in your Ipad ? andy

To my knowledge, pictures in photo stream stay there untill there is more than 1000 of them, then after that the oldest ones are removed from photo stream.  If your photos have synced to your devices via photo stream or manual syncing they will be there until you elect to delete them.

I have photo stream on and took photos recently and cant find them on my computer. I tried restarting the computer but still nothing. How do I get them on photo stream?

Try the following on your MBP:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • HT201317 I had my photo stream on and my icloud all set up, i just had the screen replaced and they somehow lost all the photos off my phone, but why wont the photo's reload back on to my iphone now that im connected to wifi again, where are all my photos

I had my photo stream on and my icloud all set up, i just had the screen replaced and they somehow lost all the photos off my phone, but why wont the photo's reload back on to my iphone now that im connected to wifi again, where are all my photos???

When photos are added to the photo stream album on a device (either due to a new photo having been taken or having been synced from another device using the stream) they remain in the album.  However, the syncing process involves copying the photos to the photo stream server where they are kept for a maximum of 30 days, up to 1000 photos.  If a device is reset or the stream is turned off or turned back on again (or in your case, the device was repaired), the photos that were on the device's photo stream album are gone and the only ones to appear are those that are currently on the servers (recall the 30 day limit).
If some of your photos are older than 30 days, then they are no longer stored on the cloud and hence are not synced down to the iphone.
Recall, photo stream is just a syncing service, it is not designed as a storage service for photos.  Always sync photos to a computer for archiving.

  • Can I remove a Photo Stream from my iOS device and keep it on my iMac?

Is there a way to save a Photo Stream on your computer (comments and all) and remove it from your iOS devices?  Going back to read the comments from time to time is nice, but don't want to have a list of Photo Streams as long as my arm on my iPhone and iPad.

If you're referring to Shared Photos Streams the answer would be no.  If you're the owner of the stream and all you devices are logged into the same Apple ID if you delete the photos in a shared stream on one device they get deleted on all devices.

  • Sync-problem with 'my photo stream' between iPhone (IOS) and PC (Win7)

    Hi all,
I have a problem with the automatic sync of "my photo stream".
My photo steam on my IOS device contains 52 photos.
On my Windows computer there are only 43 photos available.
There is no logic behind the missing photos.
I took 2 more photos to test the stream. After I took the photos I've 54 photos in my album. 2 min later the upload seems to be completed because on my IOS device I've 54 photos.
I've waited for over 2 hours now and on my Windows computer there are still 43 photos. So the new ones are missing beside some missing photos in between!
    What I've already done:
    # re-install iCould on Windows computer
    # reset iPhone to factory defaults
    # several shutdown and reboots of all devices
maybe someone can help me with that problem!
    thanks in advance!
    cheers
    max

I tried the sign-out/reboot/sign-in and now it's stranger than before.
On my iPhone I have 79 pictures in 'my photo stream'.
On my PC I have 24 randomly picked photos in 'my photo stream'.

  • What happened to camera roll and photo stream with newest IOS upgrade?

I have upgraded my iPad 3 to the newest IOS release, but not my iPhone so far.  I noticed that Camera Roll and Photo Stream are still available on my iPhone but not on the iPad.  What happened?

the he firet versions of iOS 8 replaced the PhotoStream and Camera Roll albums with the Recently Added album. The Recently Added album contains photos for thirty days then moves them to the Photo Collections area. This definitely caught many people by surprise. Apple announced on October 16th that the next update of iOS 8 which will be 8.1 will bring back the Camera Roll. 8.1 is scheduled to be available October 20 according to Apple.

  • Shared photo stream gone from iOS but still on laptop

I own a shared photo stream that was created on my iPhone. Sometime in the past few hours it disappeared from my phone, iPad and the other iPhone under my Apple ID. However it still shows on my laptop and is up to date. How can I get it back on my iOS devices?

If these photos are precious, it's worth considering purchasing a file recovery program. I accidently deleted a whole batch of emails and I bought online and used an application called FileSalvage (about £50) which recovers all types of files. You can select it to just look for image files and then just recover those.
If so, limit your use of your Mac as of now, as you will be writing data to your hard disk all the time when saving and potentially write over picture data that's sitting on your hard disk.
Although Mail's .emix file format is not a common file type, it did the job, so image files will be easy.
