Photo Stream Folders

I think I already know the answer since I'm not able to get it to work but just wanted to confirm that Photo Stream will only sync individual files and not folders, correct?  I have set my sync folder to My Pictures on my PC but when I import my photos, I have them imported into a sub-folder of My Pictures hoping they would appear on my iPad as an album under the Photo Stream tab but no luck.
I haven't found anyone else commenting on this so it leads me to believe that I'm doing something wrong or I'm the only person who categorizes their photos in their PC.  That, or it's common knowledge that it doesn't support folders/albums and I missed the memo.
Any help or confirmation would be appreciated!

Not sure if I quite understand your problem since I'm not using Photostream on a PC (using Mac). However, just for your information... everything in the Photostream is only VIEWABLE on any iOS device or PC that has iCloud enabled. To keep the photo (and not just view it) you have to move it out of Photostream and into an album (iPhoto) or folder (I'm guessing for PCs). The Photostream is just that - a stream. On your iPhone or iPad your last 1000 photos will be there for you to view. There is no limit to the number of photos in the Photostream on your PC because of the much larger storage capacity.
If a photo has lived in the stream for more than 30 days it gets deleted. In order to make it a permanent part of your PC or iOS device you have to move it out of the stream - see above. From there you can move it wherever.
Does that help?
Thanks,
JWB

  • Need Camera Roll and Photo Stream folders back

I don't understand why apple removed Cameral Roll and Photo Stream folders in Photo App. I used to move all photos in Camera Roll to my computer periodically. and I still can access last 1000 photos from Photo Stream folder if I want to access them, maybe I would upload some photos from Photo Stream folder to some apps like FB, Instagram etc.
But after I updated to iOS 8, app can never access that Photo Stream folder now, even it's still there and occupied lots of space ( if you go to usage menu you can see that).
How do I access photos in Photo Stream folder now??? I want it back. it's so inconvenience for me. anyone else would agree this??
Have done a lot of google, but nothing can help this.

This is the way Photo Stream has always worked:
Does using My Photo Stream substitute for using iCloud Backup or iTunes to back up the photos in my Camera Roll?
No. Photos in My Photo Stream are saved on the iCloud server for 30 days. To save or back up these photos, you must copy them from My Photo Stream to your Camera Roll on your iOS device. You can then back up your Camera Roll using iCloud or iTunes.
How long are My Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud?
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them.
How many photos are stored in My Photo Stream on my devices and computers?
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.
Your iOS devices keep a rolling collection of your last 1000 photos in the My Photo Stream album. From there, you can browse your recent photos or move the ones you like to your Camera Roll or another album to keep them on your device forever.
Because your Mac and PC have more storage than your iOS devices, you can choose to download all of your My Photo Stream photos automatically.
In iPhoto or Aperture preferences on your Mac, select Photos (or Photo Stream) > My Photo Stream > Automatic Import. All of your photo stream photos will import into your Events, Projects, Photos, Faces, and Places folders in iPhoto or Aperture.
On your PC with My Photo Stream on in the Control Panel, all of your photos will import into C:\\Users\<user name>\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream If you're using iCloud Control Panel 2.1 to 2.1.3, the path is C:\\Users\<user name>\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream
Due to storage limitations, your Apple TV might display only your most recent photos.

  • Can photo stream folders be on a network drive?

Just trying to understand why I cannot select the photo stream folders I created on a networked external hard drive.

  • How do you remove photo stream folders

i have 3 photo stream folders on my IPHONE 4, how do i remove 2 of them?

There is no way to do so.
PhotoStream is temporary - a maximum of 1,000 photos and 30 days.

  • 2 Photo Stream Folders on iPhone - Why do I have 2 photo stream folders on my iPhone? One is accurate and the other is empty. How do I delete the empty one? The empty folder doesn't allow my photos to be synced with my ipad2.

I tried disabling the iCloud on my iPhone and ipad2 and re-enabling in hopes elimnating the extra empty folder on my iphone.  Despite disabling the iCloud on my iPhone, the empty Photo Stream folder remained on my iPhone and the other Photo Stream folder with my pictures was removed.  I think because of this empty folder, my iPad isn't being prayed with my photos. Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else?

You can uncheck multiple songs by selecting all the songs you want to uncheck, then right-click and choose "uncheck selection".  Also, make sure that you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings or the sync process will ignore your selections.
You can remove all the photos from your camera roll using Preview on your Mac.  Connect your phone to your Mac, open Preview, go to File>Import from iPhone.  When your photos appear in Preview, select the photos you want to delete, then click on the icon at the bottom showing the red circle with the diagonal line through it (see image below), then click Delete.
To remove photos from the Photo Stream album on your phone you'll have to either reset Photo Stream (deleting all the photos from iCloud) or turn off Photo Stream on your phone.

  • HT201317 My photos are not uploading manually from my desktop to my photo stream folders on my iphone ... How do I fix this ?

Can anyone walk me thru how to fix or get the photos in my uploads folders for icloud to push out to my iphone?

You currently have 2 separate accounts - Apple doesn't allow you to alter the IDs or merge them currently.  If you share purchased music with your family then multiple accounts may make sense.  You can have a separate ID for yourself that is associated with your devices.  Then you have the "family account" that you make purchases on.  In your specific case the @me.com ID would be your account and the @hotmail.com would be the iTunes "family account".  The only thing you need to do is to sign into iTunes on your iphone with the @hotmail.com ID.  Future purchases will then be linked to your family account and will be transfered to your Dell when you sync.  If you purchased free apps on your iPhone under the other account, I would simply delete them and redownload under the @hotmail.com ID.  If you made signifcant purchases under the new account, then you can open iTunes on your Dell, sign in with the @me.com account, and authorize that computer.  The new purchases will transfer to the Dell, but it makes your iTunes library a little messier...especially when you start buying new computers.
Option 2 is to restore the iPhone and set it up with the old @hotmail account.  This is useful if you do not have a family and don't need the hassle of 2 IDs.  I don't know what will happen when you try to set up the phone with a new ID however, since the sim card is already associated with an account.  I would visit an Apple store or Verizon to do this so you don't run into any problems activating the phone.
My final caveat is I have not started using iCloud yet so I don't know all the ramifications of having multiple IDs.  I'm sure you can search the forums some more to dig up those answers.  Good Luck.

  • My iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 8.1 laptop or my Windows 7 PC.

I have been going through the forums for the last few weeks and nothing has helped.  Both computers are x64 bit.
    Problems I am experiencing
    A. Windows 7 PC has not synced photo stream since September 25
    B. Windows 8.1 laptop has not synced since a little before that.
    C. I can't upload any photos (.jpegs) to the photo stream.  An error pops up saying that they cann't be uploaded as they are not in a format supported by iCloud, even though they are jpegs.
    D. Photos are syncing ti my ipad 3 perfectly fine, so clearly there is a problem with my computers but I am totally stumped.
I have un-installed, deleted all icloud photo stream folders, restarted and then re-installed the iCloud control panel on both computers, and it has created new folders and re-synced maybe 30 photos before it stopped again.
I have uninstalled every single Apple program on my Windows 8.1 laptop and reinstalled iTunes, iCloud and Quicktime and that didn't help.
I have toggled the Photo Stream on/off button in setting on my iphone, and that seemed to kick start the sync on my Windows 7 PC this morning, so far I've got 70 photos on my Windows 7 PC and that's where it has stopped but its a really random selection, and doesn't include the photos I took yesterday or today.
Two of my colleagues at work where my Windows 7 PC is located - their photo streams are working fine, both using ios7 and icloud control panel, however their computers are x32 bit.
I have also simply logged out and signed in again multiple times, however that doesn't do anything.
I have unticked the "read-Only" permissions on my photo icloud stream folder, but that didn't help either.
I have followed the troubleshooting from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989 - however that also did not help.
I have tried changing the folder path for iCloud photo stream, however that did not help either.
I tried the steps from someone who said they spoke to an Apple rep (steps copied from forum and I put them in italic) on this forum: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5381738
Anyway, the Apple rep had me sign out of iCloud CC on my PC.
Then on each iOS devices Settings/iCloud/Delete Account.
    Confirmed all the warnings.
Then re-entered my iCloud id and password on the iOS device.
Things restarted and the iOS Photo Streams got loaded with the number of photos that
    iCloud has.
Signed in on iCloud on the PC. It synced the same way.
Tried taking pictures on the iPhone and iPad. They synced everywhere.
    So I'm back in business.
I just deleted everything on my iOS devices when I exited iCloud.
My interest is the PC syncing when I take a photo on my iPhone.
ME: Okay so these steps again refreshed the photostream on my iPhone 5.  I can see that the photos I took yesterday and today have been uploaded to the photo stream as I can see them there on my device.  I have also now signed back into iCloud on my Windows 7 PC and it is slowly syncing again, but just recognising the same photos it downloaded previously as per Step 3 which I did just earlier this morning.
I have also just tried uploading photos via the upload folder from my windows 7 PC, and they uploaded perfectly.
This is really, really frustrating.  I've tried everything I can find on these forums but nothing has helped fix the issue 100%.
Can anyone offer something else I can try to reslove this issue?

Hi all.  I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
    Good luck…

  • How do I delete a 2 photo stream folder from my Iphone 4 device

I followe the instructions on resetting my photo stream. It deleted all the pics from one Photo Stream Folder but not the other. I dont even know how I got 2 photo stream folders. Can someone tell me how to get rid of the pics in the second folder and or how to completely delete the 2nd photo stream folder.  Please help.... Thanks all...

    Depends on which photos.
Camera Roll pics ( taken with the iphone) can be deleted one at a time from the iphone, or when you import them to your computer as with any digital camera.
Pics synced to your iphone from your computer are deleted the sam way - the sync process.  Open itunes, select what you want on your iphone, sync.

  • Multiple copies in Aperture Photo Stream

I use one photostream for two iPhone 4Ss, an iPad 2, Apple TV, and on two MacBooks (both running Lion, one using Aperture 3 and one using iPhoto '11).
I have Aperture running on my Late 2009 13" Unibody MacBook Pro automatically import photostream photos taken on my iPhones into the usual "month year Photo Stream" folders.
Here is my issue: when I click on the Photo Stream "Library" on the in Aperture, I find MULTIPLE copies of each photo.  The older the photo in photo stream, the more copies (my oldest photo from almost 5 months ago has almost 80 copies!).  The most recent photos only have a single copy with number of copies increasing as the photos get older.  The first most recent duplicate is from 2 weeks ago with 2 copies.  This applies to both photos taken on my iDevices directly to the stream and also photos uploaded to the stream from a DSLR via Aperture.  I'm concerned that having 80 copies of older photos (already copied to another folder in my Aperture library) will take up unnecessary space in my Aperture library.  I am also afraid to delete any of the copies for fear that they will be removed from the photo stream of any of my multiple devices (some still displaying photos older than 30 days, eg. Apple TV).
Any idea why this is occurring?  Any thoughts on preventing it?

I'm having the same problem.  I deleted all the photos in the photostream then tried to drag a couple new ones in to see if they'd synch.  Nothing is happening.  I recently installed aperture (have about 125 gb in the library).  If anyone has an idea what to do, i'm open to try something.

  • Photo Stream and MobileMe in iPhoto: I don't get it!

    Hi
Photo Stream is on for iPhoto on my iMac, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch.
I'm somewhat confused about how to handle this feature - aside from the basic understanding that it syncs photos I take, say, on my iPhone, to all other devices without the need to manually sync.
    Could someone please confirm / suggest answers to the following;
    1) photos I take on my iPhone are shown in my camera roll and under a separate photo stream roll.  I understand that photo stream on iOS devices holds the last 1000 images taken (unless you delete some following iOS 5.1).  Correct?
    2) my iPhoto library on my iMac stores 100% of the photo stream photos thereby negating the need to manually sync my iPhone (which I use to take photos) with iMac. Correct again?
    3) Under 'Events' on iPhoto (iMac) it seems to create a new 'event' every month (and christens it, say, as 'March 2012 photo stream' for example) which holds that months images taken.
    a) the folders appear in the top left hand corner of the 'Events' page which I don't like as all other events are shown in chronological order (i.e. the latest 'event' being in the bottom right corner of the page). Can I do anything about this, as in set it so that the photo stream folders create themselves at the bottom of the screen after the previous last event?
    b) These monthly 'events' are just that; events that have happened within that last month which could comprise of several different events.  I categorise by actual event rather than everything that has happened within a particular time frame.  This therefore immediately conflicts with photo stream.  I presume I am perhaps meant to select certain 'events' within the month's photo stream and then create a new 'event' from that but I don't know how to do this?  Could anyone advise how / what they do?
    4) I had a MobileMe account which expired last year.  Instead of resurrecting the email address for my iCloud account I chose a slightly different one.  This seems to pose a problem as under 'Albums' I have several MobileMe albums which generate a pop-up box asking me to log in.  As my MobileMe account is expired, the password prompt is not accepted.  I therefore can't share my photos as I previously did.  Is there a work-around?
    Thanks!

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. a: View Menu -> Sort Events
    3. b Flag the photos you want to move and go Events -> Create Event from Flagged Photos

  • Shared Photo Streams not appearing in iPhoto.

I have a few Photo Streams that were recently shared with me. I can access them fine on my iPhone. When I am on my MacBook Air however, these Photo Stream folders are no where to be found.
I followed this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3989 and more specifically double checked these instructions:
I don't see any photos or shared photo streams in the Photo Stream view of iPhoto or Aperture.
    Check the following:
From your Mac, choose System Preferences > iCloud, and make sure the Photo Stream checkbox is enabled.
Open iPhoto or Aperture, choose Preferences > Photo Stream.
If you are using iPhoto 9.4 or later, or Aperture 3.4 or later, make sure that both the My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams checkboxes are selected. If you'd like all new photos that you've uploaded to your iPhoto or Aperture library to be uploaded to My Photo Stream, make sure that the Automatic Upload checkbox is selected as well.
If you are using iPhoto 9.2.2 through 9.3.2, or Aperture 3.2.3 through 3.3.2, make sure that Enable Photo Stream and Automatic Import are selected.
Make sure your Mac has an an active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection.
Everything was set up as suggested above.
My Macbook is on iPhoto 9.2.3, with OS 10.7.5
    My iPhone is on 6.1.3
Additionally, when i view photos from a shared photo stream folder on my phone and then select to save one of the photos to my Camera roll, the photo is still not syncing to my Photo stream on the Mac.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Larry,
Having a similar issue as the one described by kmacd...  I'm trying to set up Shared Photo Streams between my MacBook Pro (Late 2009 13") and my iPhone 4, to essentially use them as streaming albums.  Both devices are set up with iCloud with the same account, and both have all settings enabled for Shared Photo Streams, as I can create and modify streams in both.  The problem is that when I create a new stream on one, it never shows up on the other!  I never receive an invite, which I assume I wouldn't since it's all the same account.  Just not sure why the Shared Streams don't sync over multiple devices when the normal My Photo Stream works perfectly fine.  Any thoughts??  Thanks!
    Hardware/Software Specs:
    MacBook Pro 5,5 (Late 2009 13")
    OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
    iPhoto v9.5.1 (902.17)
    Aperture 3.5.1
    iPhone 4iOS 7.0.4
Note:  I am currently in the process of downloading iPhoto 2.0 for iOS to see if there's any way to access the streams through that.  Figured it's worth a shot!!

Has anyone else upgraded to iOS 5 and found when they go into photo's there are 2 photo stream folders. One seems to work the other is just an extra album not required. Tried re-syncing etc, but still there. Everything else works on my 3GS so no major issues. Thanks

  • Does photo stream save onto my computer or stream?

when i have photo stream turned on on iphoto, i think it's actually saving the files on my computer. i checked this by going to File Reveal in Finder.
I thought this was suppose to be streaming? why else would it have the little wifi type icon on the bottom left of the photos in iphoto?
this seems redundent on my computer. basically, every photo i take on my photo or even import to iphoto, gets doubled.
so now i have a photo album that i made on iphoto after importing pictures from my nikon. so it saved it on iphoto, then updated it to photo stream. so now i have a copy of each of those photos twice now on my computer. this is taking up a lot of space.
is this right? or am i completely wrong?

I share your frustrations with Photo Stream. While it is great for quickly accessing random photos on other devices, it makes proper photo management a pain. The same photo easily ends up in both the Camera Roll and Photo Stream iOS folders, as well as in the Photo Stream section of iPhoto, AS WELL as in an iPhoto event called [month] Photo Stream".
Deleting the photo from the Camera Roll does not delete the photo and vice versa, so deleting a photo is troublesome. And by creating monthly photo stream folders it makes it hard to maintain a nice event-sorted photo album.
The alternative I employ is to have migrated to Google's Picasa (not just to fix this issue but also from general annoyances with iPhoto and lack of online features). It does the same role as iPhoto (I.e. offline store of all photos and management/organising of them), and I sync all my photos with Picasa Web Albums which I can easily upload to from my phone/iPad/etc. Not only is my photo management sorted but I have a permanent online backup of all my photos. It also let's me share any album/photo with people which is handy. I therefore disable photo stream and upload any photos to any album I want from my phone, instantly accessible online anywhere.
This has been quite an undertaking for the last few days so I thought I'd share!

  • I can't close Photo Stream in my iphone4

Even if the icloud is closed but photos application will still exist photo stream folder

I'm not new to iCloud myself, but I too would like the opportunity to manage my photos online, and also perform rudimentary editing such as rotation, cropping and other activities, as I cannot perform these with the Windows Photo Gallery once the photos are downloaded to my computer (I get the error message: "This photo can't be saved because of a problem with the file's properties." And, I often get photos with incorrect rotation because of how I or others hold my chosen iDevice and would sure like to edit these before they're locked on my computer. I share them to Facebook often, and admittedly can definitely use THEIR rotation tool, but I would like the flexibility of doing it to the photos in Photo Stream, too.
