Photo stream is annoying me

I have an ipad 2 and an iPod touch A1367 model, and everything is brilliant, except that if I save GIFs to my camera roll on the ipad, they do not sync to the iPod! This is really frustrating me, as I have at least 300 gifs and do not want to have to send them all individually via iMessage to save them again! Is there some way round this or can it be changed? IT'S SO ANNOYING

This says that gifs are not supported.

I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
    On iPhone:
    Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
    On Mac:
    Open "Messages" application
    Click "Messages menu > Preferences
    Click "Accounts"
    Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble.  If it's green then you are using SMS.

  • I have two different iCloud accounts. I can't sign into photo stream with my personal account and have tried deleting from my iPhone first, then the MacBook Pro. Still won't let me sign in with the personal account. Please help.

I have two different iCloud accounts - business and personal. I can't sign into Photo Stream with my personal account because it says my business account is my primary account. They are separate but equal accounts. I have tried deleting the iCloud account from my iPhone, then my MacBook Pro and signing in again on both devices. The iPhone says that my primary account ismy personal account (which is good) but my MacBook Pro still will not sign into that account so I can use Photo Stream.
Any suggestions? This iCloud stuff is getting annoying.

  • Is there any way to have photo stream to sync to my pictures folder like it did before installing iLife 11?

    Hi,
Before installing iLife 11, my photo stream synced to the (Finder)Pictures- Photo Stream - which I very much liked.
Now I have installed iLife 11, iPhoto has taken over and the photos syncthere, not in the original Photo Stream folder.
Is there any way for me to revert syncing to the pictures folder ratherthan with iPhoto?
    2 reasons why:
1 - I have to copy the photos out of iPhoto which is annoying, there’sno point in having a auto sync if I have to copy out of iPhoto, I might aswell becopying off my phone.
2 - photos only sync when iPhoto is open so I have to wait for them todownload whereas before they synced as I took them and when I got in, they were'just there' and now I have to wait.
If anyone can suggest a solution for me that would be great, I don’twant to remove iPhoto from my system so that’s not an option.
If there isn’t a solution, what’s Apple playing at? Surely this isfrustrating for users other than me?
    Thanks in advance.

Is there a way I can stop
    this ?
No, Photo Stream is syncing with iCloud. The most recent 1000 photos in iCloud will be buffered on your mac, even if you do not import them to your photo library, if you enable My Photo Stream.
See this link:   iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.

  • I still can't get rid of the photo stream!!!

Okay so it's almost 2014 and I'm still figure it out how to get rid of this so annoying thing called photo stream, why is even evented ****! So I'm running ios 7, I've turn it off the photo stream from every device a half a year ago, I said to that thing delete them all, and they were still here but I hoped that for 30 days waiting will be gone but nothing happened even 6 months later. I think I gave it enough time to disappear! Why is still here?? Gosh, why?!! I can't delete it by myself using no matter what device, I've resetted icloud, I've tried every possible way, it's so frustrating! It says Photo Stream from My Computer, but there is not such a thing on windows, because I've deleted it like I said!
Somebody please have mercy on me!

Understood, and that's my biggest complaint with apple, the lack of configuration in many places where it would be beneficial.
They should have added the switch when they added the feature, in the exact same way that they added the switches for both the calendar and the Notes application, and the archive messages feature. They rarely if ever admit mistakes, and even if they saw this lack of ability to disable the inboxes as a mistake, I don't imagine they will ever fix it. But I can still ask, and I can still raise it as an issue.

  • Photo Stream Albums Reappear in Aperture

So at the start of each month I move the contents of the previous month's Photo Stream project into a main project for the year and then I delete the empty Photo Stream project. Everything is working fine at that point. But the next time I open Aperture June and July empty Photo Stream project are created again. I just delete those projects and everything is fine, but it's really annoying to have to delete those projects each and every time I open Aperture. Any suggestions?

Here's some suggestions that may or may not satisfy what you want.
    1. Turn off the automatic photo stream import setting in Aperture's preferences. Import the new photos manually from the photo stream to your yearly project. This should stop Aperture from automatically creating those projects.
    2. Instead of creating a single yearly project to copy to, create a yearly folder and place all the photo stream projects inside the folder. When you select the folder in the library pane you will see all images for the year that are in the enclosed projects. If you collapse the folder it will act just like your yearly project when selected.
    - Did you know? - You can rename the automatically created photo stream projects to anything you desire. Aperture will remember that they are the photo stream projects regardless of the name.
    3. Place all the empty photo stream projects in a single folder and collapse the folder structure. That way you'll only need to see a single entry for those unwanted projects that keep coming back after deleting them.
    4. Delete the photos from the photo stream for that month that have already been imported so Aperture doesn't find anything in the photo stream for that particular month. (I'm not sure about this one so if you try it please leave feedback on the results)
Everyone's workflow can be slightly different so I'm sure there could be reasons why none of my suggestions will be acceptable for you. But I hope at least one of them is.

  • Pictures missing in photo stream after empty-battery + work around

I recently had a situation where synchronizing photos between my iOS7 and MacOS 10.9 devices failed and/or showed strange effects (individual pictures missing).
After a day of annoying experiences I realised that the problems started after the iPhone (that I use for taking photos) had switched itself off due to an empty battery (there's just too much to see at the Carneval in Venice ;-) After fully charging the iPhone I took more photos but some (!) of the new photos (and some of the older photos) did not sync.
WORK AROUND: restarted the iPhone once more.

    Summary
Photo stream IS "Recently Added" as well as "Recently Taken" combined.  If it was taken with this phone, it can be favorited.  If not, there's no favorite (heart) icon.
    Details
So I have 2 iphones I use, one for work, one personal.  I do very little with the work one and never had photo stream turned on but I use the same itunes account for both so I can share itunes match and photos and contacts if/when I chose to.
I was confused about where photo stream went as well.
So prior to turning on photo steam on my work phone, I saw that I had 4 photos (mostly screen shots) on the work phone, under "recently added".  I took a picture with the phone to be sure.  Yup, it was added to recently added but not "summarized" (not sure why it wasn't summarized but nothing else is on that phone).
I have other settings to "default" including having "summarize photos" turned on.
I then turned on "My Photo Stream" and saw photos start getting added to "Recently Added".  The count ended up being around 625 which is huge, but much less than the 1000 on my windows Photo Stream, and less than the 661 or so on my personal phone.  Not sure if this is the 30 days limitation on my personal or what the limitation is on my work phone.
FYI, did all this with wifi so the download was moderately fast.
Another thing of note.  Photos that were taken with the same phone have the favorite icon (the heart).  Photos taken on the other phone do not.  So that's how to tell if it's only on the photo stream.

  • Photo stream access?

    hi there,
i had some trouble with my iPhone 4s and got it replaced (great service, by the way!).but i lost a lot of the pictures that were on that phone.
now these pictures are all still visible on my apple tv photostream and my ipad that had photostream activated the whole time. but i would like to back up all my photo stream pictures on a local harddrive (to make a photo book for example) - and that does not seem to work. i can't download the pictures through apple tv and i can't access the photo stream pictures on my ipad through a sync with my computer...
now i upgraded my mac to lion and then snow lion because i heard i can access photo stream through the new iphoto. but the new iphoto only accesses the last 30 days of photo stream...
in the end it seems that my photos are stuck in an in-accessible cloud nirwana the good thing: they seem to be all there. the bad thing: i can't get them out of there...
is there any apple or maybe even third party app that lets me manage my full photostream? iCloud.com does not offer it (yet) and the apps do not seem to offer a solution.
any hints and help very welcome
    thanks!
p.s.: apple, pls consider an iManagement feature for the iCloud webinterface (or as an app for the desktop). I have trouble with some of my playlists in iTunes Match. the order of playlists gets messed up between computer and cloud and that's annoying, especially with DJ mixes.

Presumably, PhotoStream is syncing via iCloud  , and att servers are being used.
Well, I am assuming something like that. What I'm wondering is why? Why is Apple (PS) talking to AT&T?
Perhaps a better question is, do they need to talk to AT&T?
I realize this is a rather obscure question to be posting here. But I was hoping someone might actually know the answer.
    Thanks for replying.

  • Aperture won't update Photo Stream

I have downloaded Aperture 3.2, and have moved to iCloud.
When I take photos on my iPhone, they appear very quickly on my iPhone and iPad in the "Photo Stream" album of the Photos app.
It seems they only show up in Aperture if I go to the preferences, and disable Photo Stream.  Then when I re-enable Photo Stream through the same preference dialog it updates, and all my pictures then show up.
How often is it supposed to update in Aperture, and why does it only update when I disable and re-enable Photo Stream in the preferences?

I have the exact same issue as briansp.
To see if Photo stream really works in Aperture... I was a bit cheeky and walked into an Apple Store and set up my iCloud account on a MacBook Air...  I then launched Aperture on the Air...turned on Photo Stream... and then I took a photo on my iPhone and it worked perfectly. It appeared in Aperture like it should.
So it's either something to do with my WiFi network at home, or maybe I need to uninstall Aperture on my Mac and reinstall and see if that fixes it.
    Either way it's annoying.
But at least I saw it work in the Apple Store.

  • Mt iPads photo stream is using space on my iPad

The photo stream is taking up about 400 MB on my iPad, however there are no photos on the iPad it's self or in the photo stream. I have tried turning off my iPad all the way and turning it back on, I have tried turning off photo stream in the iCloud preferences and I have even tried to delete my whole iCloud account from my iPad temporarily, and it is still taking up about 400 MB of space on the iPad. This really annoys me because I only have 16 GB of memory on it and as you all know about 2.5 GB of that is taken up by iOS. Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Hello Phildebeldorado,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are missing the My Photo Stream album on your iPad, then you may have the iCloud Photo Library beta enabled.  When you enable this option, it removes the Camera Roll and My Photo Stream albums from your device.

  • Why are my photo stream photos not showing up in on my computer?

Only some of the pictures I take with my iPhone 4 are loading in iCloud and only some of those are showing up on my computer with iCloud operating.  Please help.

I've got the same problem.  Photos taken on my iPhone and iPad all used to appear virtually immediately on my laptop Photo Stream (so long as phone/ipad were connected to wifi) .  Since updating to ios8 ... nothing.  It's really annoying because I take loads of photos for work, and it was so easy to be able to upload them direct from the PhotoStream, now I either have to connect iPhone by USB or email them to myself.
I must say, I've never found PhotoStream the most reliable thing ever, it did used to stop working every couple of months, but nothing that logging out of my iCloud control panel and back in didn't solve.  However I've done this numerous times and even resorted to removing and reinstalling it, nothing works and I really don't know what else I can do.   Photos I take on iPhone appear on the "Recently added" photos on iPad and vice versa, but nothing on the laptop.
I did hear a "rumour" that Apple are going to reinstate the good old Camera Roll and PhotoSteam on the next update, due October 20th ... hoping this will alleviate the problem otherwise I guess I'll have to start using DropBox.

  • Photo stream

Regarding my previous question about photo stream, the answer Winston Churchill gave was that it will stream pictures that have been uploaded since it was installed. It is not doing that instead it is streaming my really old pictures, which I thought were deleted from iphoto months ago! I think I am going to remove it because it annoys me when I have to constantly delete pictures I don't want and more appear.

It's weird there is a "reset" button then. Oh well... Thanks!

  • Shared photo stream quality issue

Shared photo stream FAQ states that:
"Shared Photo Streams supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and most RAW photo formats. On your Mac or PC, your photos are downloaded and stored in full resolution. On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple TV, your Photo Stream photos are delivered in a device-optimized resolution that speeds downloads and saves storage space. While actual dimensions will vary, an optimized version of a photo taken by a standard point-and-shoot camera will have a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution when pushed to your devices. Panoramic photos can be up to 5400 pixels wide."
Since I'm a little OCD about photo organization, I collect and organize all the photos my girlfriend and I take. She shares all of her picture from her iPhone 5s on a shared photo stream and I import them to iPhoto on my MBP. However, I have just realized to my great surprise that all her picture were downgraded in 2048 x 1536, even though I have downloaded them to my Mac. Anyone has the same issue or has any idea what is going on? The FAQ clearly said that they would be downloaded in full definition, but they aren't, which is really annoying as we often do large books for which the higher resolution is necessary, not to mention my retina display screen and 4K monitor.
    the FAQ

You should double check your and your daughter's icloud ID as currently set, because what you describe happens when two people share the same icloud account  (and I assume you are talking about a "photo stream" and not a "shared photo stream").
Settings>icloud, be sure the accounts are different.

  • Photo stream different folders??

Ok, so I have an iPhone 5 and I am trying to get rid of some pictures (this is a whole other issue) but I have different amounts of pictures stored?? This is what I have:
    PC: Photostream foder (402 pics)
    iPhone 5: Albums> Photo Stream (275 pics)
iPhone 5: Photo Stream Icon (198 pics)
*** is that all about?!?! Surely Photo Stream means just that! I'm getting annoyed that Apple sell it to you that everything is soooo idiot proof, and everything is done for you 'take one photo here, and then it is here when you get home' etc etc!!!
To be fair, my pictures do tend to show up on my other devices (iPad and apple tv) but I am confused by all the different pictures in different folders.
    Phew!!

I'm fairly certain that it's an account-wide preference. You could always enable a second user account, turn on Fast User Switching, and only swap to that account to launch iPhoto and do your Photo Stream business.
