Photo stream is not uploading to laptop

Photos are not appearing on my laptop from photostream that were taken on my iphone. I have cycled both devices off. I have repaired permissions on the laptop. Both have icloud turned on. Where are the pictures I took yesterday?

Are you using iPhoto?

  • HT201077 Shared Photo Streams do not upload full sized photos!

Oh boy, so it seems that Apple's "optimized for your device" policy with photos has reared its ugly head again (PLEASE, just give us an option for optimizing the size or leaving it the original size like you do for compressing songs to 128kps on our devices!!!!)!  The addition of Shared Photo Streams seemed a godsend to me, as prior to iOS 6, my wife's iPhone was stuck in this iCloud ID ghetto, where her device's main account was mine so that we shared the same Photo Stream.  This way, when I went into Aperture on the Mac to process and import photos to our home library, all of our mobile pictures were in one place.  This came with the consequence that the other "main" iCloud features, such as (inexplicably) Safari syncing, were unusable to her as they were from my personal settings.  So once shared Photo Streams came about, I thought "Perfect!  Now I can just share all of my photos to her iCloud ID, and then all of our combined pictures will show up in Aperture!"  The problem is that, when I looked at the pictures on the Mac from the shared photo stream, they only were available at the "optimized" 3 megapixel resolution for iPhone, not the original 8 megapixel pictures are the photos from the main iCloud ID ones are.  This is a huge deal for two reasons, 1.  I can't import and process these pictures for saving permanently they're more than HALF the original resolution, 2. Anyone that I share photos to, friends, family, who want to maybe save those to their computer for printing and whatnot, are ALSO stuck with a halfbaked low resolution file!
I did have the a-ha idea, that perhaps if I shared photos from Aperture on my mac to my wife's Photo Stream, perhaps it would then share the full resolution photo as that's what Aperture gets from iCloud's servers.  Alas, no, still the shared photo stream only gets the compromised file.  There has GOT to be a way for the full resolution pics to be shared, otherwise the service is nearly useless to me!  As far as I knew, shared photostreams just link to the original files, so it's not like this will take up any more space on Apple's servers.  If someone has a solution, let me know!
The only other solution is to allow the use of more than one Photostream account on a Mac with Aperture.  I feel that this is a no-brainer, and a little silly.  Either you provide family style iCloud accounts for uses like Photo Stream, or you accept that every iOS user in a family will have their own Photo Stream.  This means that they need to be able to be accessed on the same family computer.

I have this same issue except with iPhoto.  We each have our own computers and I thought the shared photostream would allow us to each have all the photos, but they aren't full sized.

  • Shared photo stream is not showing up in settings for iPhone 5 or ipad

    Hi there
I am trying to set up a shared photo stream however the option is not coming up on either my iPhone 5 or my iPad (3).
I have tried adjusting the settings (Settings/Photos&Camera/Shared Photo Stream), switching it on & off as well as switching on iCloud again to see if new T&Cs pop up as suggested in other posts - no joy!
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

On your device using iOS 6, try quitting and re-opening the Photos app:
    Quit Photos.
From your Home screen, click your Home button twice. Your open applications should appear in a row at the bottom of your screen.
Scroll to find the Photos icon. Press the icon until the icons jiggle.
Tap the red circle in the upper-left corner of the Photos icon. The icon should disappear from the list.
Tap the Home button again to return to normal operations.
    Also check the following:
From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, and make sure the slider is set to the ON position.
From the Home screen, tap Settings > Wi-Fi, make sure the slider is set to ON, and that your device is connected to a wireless network.
Ensure that Camera app is closed on the device where you took the photo. Photo Stream will not upload photos from an iOS device until the Camera app is closed.
Ensure your iOS device has not fallen below 20% battery power. To preserve battery life, Photo Stream downloading and uploading are disabled when the battery reaches this threshold. Downloading and uploading will resume once you charge your device, and the battery charge is greater than 20%.

  • Shared Photo Stream pics not showing in iPhoto

I have an iPhone 4s running iOS6 and my wife has a new Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion and the latest version of iPhoto.
I created a shared photo stream on my iPhone and sent her the invitation to subscribe.  I also added about 6 photos to the photo stream.  On her mac, she accepts the invitation to the shared photo stream.  Now when she opens iPhoto she sees the photo stream itself but there are 0 pictures in it and even when I add more pictures she never sees them.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

  • My iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 8.1 laptop or my Windows 7 PC.

I have been going through the forums for the last few weeks and nothing has helped.  Both computers are x64 bit.
    Problems I am experiencing
    A. Windows 7 PC has not synced photo stream since September 25
    B. Windows 8.1 laptop has not synced since a little before that.
    C. I can't upload any photos (.jpegs) to the photo stream.  An error pops up saying that they cann't be uploaded as they are not in a format supported by iCloud, even though they are jpegs.
    D. Photos are syncing ti my ipad 3 perfectly fine, so clearly there is a problem with my computers but I am totally stumped.
I have un-installed, deleted all icloud photo stream folders, restarted and then re-installed the iCloud control panel on both computers, and it has created new folders and re-synced maybe 30 photos before it stopped again.
I have uninstalled every single Apple program on my Windows 8.1 laptop and reinstalled iTunes, iCloud and Quicktime and that didn't help.
I have toggled the Photo Stream on/off button in setting on my iphone, and that seemed to kick start the sync on my Windows 7 PC this morning, so far I've got 70 photos on my Windows 7 PC and that's where it has stopped but its a really random selection, and doesn't include the photos I took yesterday or today.
Two of my colleagues at work where my Windows 7 PC is located - their photo streams are working fine, both using ios7 and icloud control panel, however their computers are x32 bit.
I have also simply logged out and signed in again multiple times, however that doesn't do anything.
I have unticked the "read-Only" permissions on my photo icloud stream folder, but that didn't help either.
I have followed the troubleshooting from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989 - however that also did not help.
I have tried changing the folder path for iCloud photo stream, however that did not help either.
I tried the steps from someone who said they spoke to an Apple rep (steps copied from forum and I put them in italic) on this forum: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5381738
Anyway, the Apple rep had me sign out of iCloud CC on my PC.
Then on each iOS devices Settings/iCloud/Delete Account.
    Confirmed all the warnings.
Then re-entered my iCloud id and password on the iOS device.
Things restarted and the iOS Photo Streams got loaded with the number of photos that
    iCloud has.
Signed in on iCloud on the PC. It synced the same way.
Tried taking pictures on the iPhone and iPad. They synced everywhere.
    So I'm back in business.
I just deleted everything on my iOS devices when I exited iCloud.
My interest is the PC syncing when I take a photo on my iPhone.
ME: Okay so these steps again refreshed the photostream on my iPhone 5.  I can see that the photos I took yesterday and today have been uploaded to the photo stream as I can see them there on my device.  I have also now signed back into iCloud on my Windows 7 PC and it is slowly syncing again, but just recognising the same photos it downloaded previously as per Step 3 which I did just earlier this morning.
I have also just tried uploading photos via the upload folder from my windows 7 PC, and they uploaded perfectly.
This is really, really frustrating.  I've tried everything I can find on these forums but nothing has helped fix the issue 100%.
Can anyone offer something else I can try to reslove this issue?

Hi all.  I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
    Good luck…

Has anybody any idea, why my jpeg-picture upoaded to Photo Stream does not appear on my iPhone S4 like all the other pictures before?
Ok, it's a 4 year old picture, but taken with a digital camera as jpeg...! This cannot be the problem really, but I'm despaired after trying since days...! Thank you all for any hint you've got for me!

If you asking me, I would suggest to additonally use a second storage service which also allows you to store your pictures over the 30 days period. I personally use Dropbox with automatic upload for that (https://db.tt/cMEgDUFZ), but there are also other storage services like Flickr for example.

  • My photo stream does not seem to be working as before with the new PHOTOS update. some of my devices are not getting the uploads/downloads

  • TS3989 photos in my photo stream do not show up on my windows computer

    Hello All,
I have an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and a Windows laptop. The photos in my Photo Stream are the same on all of the iOS devices but not on my laptop. I have made a Shared Photo Stream to try an upload pictures from my phone to my laptop and still cannot see that. The strange thing is that one or two of the recent photos taken on the same days as the ones in my iOS photo stream are on my laptop photo stream, but not all of them. So it is not a connection or setup problem. Any help?

Do they play in iTunes on the computer?
Are they from a different source or format that the ones that do sync?

  • My photos in Photo Stream do not download to my iPad 3.

My photos in Photo Stream do not download to my iPad 3 using iOS 7.  The photos are in Photo Stream on all other devices.  I've toggled the settings & reset the iPad but it does not resolve.  I can take a photo with my iPad 3 & it moves to Photo Stream & to all of my other devices but no photos download to the iPad.

Try quitting the Camera app or restarting the iPhone. Do they upload to the Photo Steam after that?
Take a look at Apple's Photo Stream FAQ.
On an iOS device, new photos you take will be automatically uploaded to your Photo Stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. Note: Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.

  • Photo stream is not enabled

    Problem:
My photo stream on my PC is not uploading photos from my iPad and iPod.
I get the message "Photo Stream is not enabled. Sign into iCloud to view Photo Stream"
When i go to iCloud in Control Panel, I am signed into iCloud on my PC (with Windows 7).
When i click on Photo Stream, and click on Options, I am not given any choices with the Options, even after  i click Apply.
My iCloud Photo Stream was working a month ago!
    Help!

First make sure iCloud and Photo Stream are installed on your PC. Connect the iPad (or iPhone) to your PC with the USB cable and start iTunes on your PC. Once your iPad/iPhone shows up under "Devices" in the sidebar (which you may have to enable), click it. Then click "Photos" at the top of the iTunes screen on your PC. Check the "Sync Photos from" box, and then under that, click "Selected folders." (Ignore the pulldown menu to the right of "Sync Photos from" -- the important thing is to tick "Selected folders.")  A pane should open up below that with a list of folders including "Photo Stream." Choose that and then at the bottom of the screen click Sync. This worked for my Windows 7 box.

  • Why are photos showing on my iPad and iPhone photo streams but not my mac's photo stream

I've taken a load of photos on my phone and have placed them in an album within my photo stream, they are now showing up on my iPad but not on my mac which is where i really want them. I've tried turning the wifi on and off again, I've tried turn the devices off and on again. nothing is working! all i want is my work backed up! can anyone help me please?!

    Hello BeccaBatte,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please follow the troubleshooting steps in the article below to help resolve this issue with Photo Stream.
I don't see any photos in the My Photo Stream view of iPhoto or Aperture.
Make sure your Mac has an active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. If you can't connect to the Internet, updates to My Photo Stream won't appear in iPhoto or Aperture. You can use these steps to troubleshoot your Internet connection on your Mac.
From your Mac, choose System Preferences > iCloud.
Make sure that the Photo Stream checkbox is selected and you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
Open iPhoto or Aperture, then choose Preferences > iCloud (or Photo Stream).
If you're using iPhoto 9.4 or later or Aperture 3.4 or later, make sure that My Photo Stream is selected. If you want all new photos that you upload to your iPhoto or Aperture library to upload to My Photo Stream, select Automatic Upload.
If you're using iPhoto 9.2.2 through 9.3.2, or Aperture 3.2.3 through 3.3.2, select Enable Photo Stream and Automatic Import.
I see different photos in My Photo Stream on each of my devices.
Your device will keep up to 1000 photos, even if they're older than 30 days. Photos older than 30 days are removed from the iCloud server, so your devices might not have the same photos, depending on when you enabled My Photo Stream. Due to storage limitations, your Apple TV might display only your most recent photos. If you want to have the most current photos in My Photo Stream on each of your devices and delete the older photos:
If there are any photos in My Photo Stream that you want to keep, save them to your Camera Roll, then back up your Camera Roll and other data using iCloud or iTunes.
Turn My Photo Stream off in Settings > iCloud > Photos (or Photo Stream in iOS 6).
Confirm that you wish to Delete Photos.
Turn My Photo Stream back on. iCloud will automatically push your stored photos to your device.
Repeat these steps for each device.

I have a different Apple id on my PowerBook from that on my iMac and iPad. Photo Stream does not connect to my Powerbook. How do I change the Apple id in iCloud on my PowerBook? Will this link all 3 machines to PhotoStream?

You can't simply change the details.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

  • HT201317 why the last photos in photo stream are not sync with my iPad?

why the last photos in photo stream are not sync with my iPad?

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.
