Photo Stream is stealing my photos!

Photos that I take on my iPhone are automatically uploaded to my Photo Stream… but then they're not available for import into Aperture!
There have been mulitple times where i've imported all my photos from my iPhone (or so I thought) and my wife asked… "Hey, where's that one picture of ____?"
So I go crazy thinking I erased it. Or imported it into another project. Etc. Spend a half-an-hour searching for it.
And it turns out it's just in the Photo Stream.
Then I have to physically go into the Photo Stream in Aperture and MANUALY COPY the iPhone photos into my desired Project.
Is this as crazy as I think it is?
Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to stop the madness?
Madness I tell you.

Why is it ruined? Seems like it's working properly.  Have you looked at the Photo Stream preferences in Aperture and on the phone? Maybe you want to set it up differently.
Yeah, I fuddle with the settings.
But it doesn't work the way it should.
It should allow you to import pictures just like you normally do… and then "automatically add them to Photo Stream."
Again, that works for my Nikon and Lumix (because they're not on iCloud, obviously). But it just confuses things with my iPhone.
The problem is that the Photo Stream only keeps the last 1000 photos. So I run the risk of missing important photos if I don't either turn OFF automatic syncing, or slavishly keep checking the Photo Stream in Aperture, and then duping the photos into other Projects.
Make sense?

    thank you

If you had Photo Stream enabled with your iCloud account settings on the iPhone, photos in the Camera Roll should have been transferred to your photo steam automatically when the iPhone was connected to an available wi-fi network.
Your photo stream is not available when logging in with your iCloud account with a browser on a computer.
Why were the photos in the Camera Roll deleted?
Photos/videos in the camera roll are included with your iPhones backup. If your iPhone's backup has not been updated since the photos were deleted from the camera roll, you can try restoring your iPhone from the backup.

    OK Vicky, good clues...
    See if this helps...
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over. See if there are duplicates, should be one for Incoming & one for Outgoing.
Resetting your keychain in Mac OS X...
If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.

  • Photo Stream not uploading unless photos app is open

I am having issues with Photo Stream. According to Apple--
"On an iOS device, new photos you take will be automatically uploaded to your Photo Stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. Note: Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections."
That is fine BUT I took 20+ pictures with my iPhone, came home and of course connected to my WiFi. None of the photos were uploaded. Several hours later I realized this and opened "photos" then they started uploading. So I hit the home button to exit photos and the upload stopped. Apparently the way this is now it is NOT HAPPENING AUTOMATICALLY I have to sit there with my photos app open and wait until it is finished.
    Not Cool! Any Ideas?

I have the same problem. I cloud is turned on on my PC. Photostream is on. I have photos in my photostream on my iphone but nothing appears in my pc, ever

  • Photo stream not putting all photos on iPhone 5

I have a imac with all my photos stored . I have just purchased a iphone 5 and also using ipad2 which i have done ios 6 update.
My photo stream shows 750 photos on imac for which that is showing them all on my ipad2 but my iphone has only downloaded 139.They say you only keep them for 30 days which must be wrong as i have them all on ipad. When i bought iphone5 i did icloud set up as i had iphone4s before.
    Any help please.

While photos in a device's photo stream album remain, the photos in the photo stream server in icloud remain for up to 30 days.  So if you recently added photo stream to a device and the stream photos in icloud are over 30 days and thus have been automatically deleted, your device won't have any stream photos synced to it.  It sounds like that is the case with your iphone.

  • TS3989 My photos on my iPhone 4 are on my camera roll and in my photo stream, but my recent photos have not moved to my photo stream folder on my computer (windows 7).  What can I do?

My photos on my iPhone 4 are on my camera roll and in my photo stream, but my recent photos have not moved to my photo stream folder on my computer (windows 7).  What can I do?

At 1.3GB available, your storage space is getting very thin no matter what you do further.  As long as you have the photo's in the camera roll saved on your computer you can delete them.  Just make sure first that they are in your photo software.  If updating in iTunes, just backup/sync first, then update, and that will save the camera roll in the backup as well.
At only 1.3GB you eventually are going to find yourself unable to install or update some app, or unable to take any new pictures, or some other limitation that will force you to free up space anyway.  So now, before updating, sounds like a good time to make sure everything is backed up or stored somewhere else, and clean house a bit, then update.

  • HT201317 Is it possible to retrieve photos once the 30 days is up or once the photo stream exceeds the 1000 photo limit?

Is it possible to retrieve photos once the 30 days is up or once the photo stream exceeds the 1000 photo limit?

No.  Photo stream photos are not backed up so there is no way to restore them.  Only camera roll photos are backed up.

  • HT201317 How come my photo stream no longer updates photos automotically?

My phone no longer updates photos which I take automotically and the settings have not changed. I've also deleted many photos in my photostream so there's definitely enough room. My phone and laptop are also connected to wifi and icloud is on.. Can't figure out why this isn't working..

You might have to go to Settings>iCloud and turn photo stream off, then back on to get it working again.  To avoid losing any photos in the process, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos you want to keep, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  When you turn photo stream back on, you will only get photos added in the last 30 days.  Older photos are removed from your photo stream (even though they will remain on your device until deleted or you turn photo stream off).
Also, photos are only added to photo stream when you are connected to wifi, the camera app is closed and you have at least 20% battery life remaining.

  • Photo Stream only Uploading Some Photos

Has anyone else noticed this?  If I take a picture on my iPhone 5, sometimes it shows in my camera roll and in Photo Stream.  Sometimes, it only shows in my camera roll.  Likewise, the Photo Stream library on my iPad 4 isn't picking up the new photos from my iPhone 5.  The problem seems a little intermittent.  Some photo upload fine, but I've had several that don't for some reason.
    Any ideas?

    Hi shorty47116,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPhone. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. I have photo stream on and took photos recently and cant find them on my computer. I tried restarting the computer but still nothing. How do I get them on photo stream?

Try the following on your MBP:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • HT201317 Shouldn't the photos on my iPhone's "My Photo Stream" be the same photos that are on my computer under "photo stream"?

Shouldn't the photos on my iPhone's "My Photo Stream" be the same photos that are on my computer under "photo stream"?

Not if you enable photo stream on your computer at a later date.  Photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, even though your last 1000 photos remain on your iOS devices until deleted.  This means that when you enable photo stream on your computer (or any other device) you only receive photo stream photos from the last 30 days, even though you may have older photos on your phone.

  • Deleted photo stream but saved the photos in a new album

hi i deleted my photo stream but saved the photos in a new album in my ipod touch but when i deleted it the photos are cannot be found! are there any chance to get those photos recovered? really need help with this. thanks!

No. Since when you create photo albums by using photos from PhotoStream the album only is a pointer to the photo ub PhotoStream
How do I delete photos from My Photo Stream?
You can delete photos from your photo stream the same way you delete other photos from your iOS device or Mac. Just select the photos you want to remove, then tap the trash icon or click Delete. On your PC, select the photos you want to remove from your photo stream, right-click, then select delete. When you delete a photo from My Photo Stream on one device, it will be removed from the Photos tab and your albums and iCloud. Photos imported from My Photo Stream to other devices won’t be deleted. Learn more about deleting photos.
What happens to my photos if I turn off My Photo Stream?
If you sign out of iCloud or turn off My Photo Stream on an iOS device, all the photos in the My Photo Stream album are removed from that device. Any photos from My Photo Stream that were imported to the Recently Added album and the Photos tab will also be removed. The photos from My Photo Stream on your other devices aren't affected. Photos from My Photo Stream are saved on the iCloud server for 30 days from the date you uploaded them to My Photo Stream. If you sign in to iCloud with the same Apple ID and turn on My Photo Stream on another device, those photos will automatically download to this device.

  • Why doesn't photo stream work?  my photos do not get uploaded?

my photos dont get uploaded to photo stream? why?it stopped uploading 2 weeks ago it is supposed to do it automatically once u have a wi fi connection ( or 3g )..

I'll assume you are talking about an iOS device that takes photos.
    Check the following:
From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, and make sure the slider is set to the ON position.  If grayed out, check Restrictions in Settings>General.
From the Home screen, tap Settings > Wi-Fi, make sure the slider is set to ON, and that your device is connected to a wireless network.
Ensure that Camera app is closed on the device where you took the photo. Photo Stream will not upload photos from an iOS device until the Camera app is closed.
Ensure your iOS device has not fallen below 20% battery power. To preserve battery life, Photo Stream downloading and uploading are disabled when the battery reaches this threshold. Downloading and uploading will resume once you charge your device, and the battery charge is greater than 20%.
Note that when photo stream is turned on, only pictures taken from that point on will go to the stream, not existing photos.  For those, sync them to a computer using itunes and USB cable.

  • Photo Stream showing not my photos

Hi! I suddenly find photos belonging to people unknown to me in my iPhone 4S Photo Stream. I do not use Photo Stream for my own photos. In iCloud on my iMac the Photo Stream option is not even tick-marked. On the iPhone though My Photo Stream, Documents & Data options and Find My iPhone are the only options under iCloud On. I have a very strong password and my home Wi-Fi is also password protected. What is going on?

If the Photo Stream photos that are missing are over a month old, or if you had more than 1000 photos, then they are no longer on the Photo Stream. The Photo Stream is not designed as a backup for your photos. It's primary purpose is to share photos among devices signed onto the same iCloud account. If the missing photos were on your Camera Roll as well, and you have an iCloud backup, you can restore to that backup.
If they were not, and you did not import your photos to your computer, then they are gone. Sorry

  • HT201317 Is there a way to "stream" older photo's to my PC stored on my Iphone before I upset up "Photo Stream?  NOTE:  My Photo Stream "pushing function is working, but I can only push "new" photos to my PC.

Is there a way to stream  "older" photos to my PC that were stored on my Iphone before I implemented "Photo Stream?  NOTE:  My Photo Stream "pushing" function is working, but I can only push "new" photos to my PC.

It might not be streaming but have you considered copying the photos directly off the iphone onto your PC?  I plug my phone in via the USB cable like usual and in Windows Explorer, navigate to Computer\Apple iPhone\Internal Storage\DCIM\860xxxx  and there they are. Copy & paste and you have pictures.
    Hope it helps.
