Photo stream keeps on desactivating itself in iPhoto

Hi,
I use iPhoto as a Photo software and am having the following issue : pretty much every time I launch iPhoto, it seems that Photo stream has desactivated itself. I turn it back on and wait for the Photo stream tab to refresh the data. Next time I'll open iPhoto, Photo stream will be desactivated...
Any one having this issue ? I've read tons of topics regarding this issue, and Apple hasn't come with a fix yet.
Thanks

Upgrade iPhoto to iPhoto '22 version 9.2.2 or later

What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later
Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
PC with Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel 2.1 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.1 or later
You can still use Photo Stream without Shared Photo Streams if your devices meet these requirements:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.1 or later
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or Aperture 3.2.3 or later
PC with Windows 7 or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel v2.0 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.0 or later
For complete iCloud setup instructions, visit How to set up iCloud.
On a Mac, you can also choose where you want your photo stream to appear (in either iPhoto 9.3.2 or later or Aperture 3.3.2 or later), and your upload and import preferences. To use Shared Photo Streams, you need iPhoto 9.4 or later or Aperture 3.4 or later.
And note that PhotoStream is under Web - not recent

  • TS4108 how do I transfer photos in photo stream to a different file in iPhoto to clear up space in iCloud?

Hw do I transfer photos from photo stream to a different file in iphoto so I can clear up space in icloud?

Photo stream photos don't use your personal iCloud account storage so deleting or moving them will not free up any space in your account.
That said, if you still want to move them from photo stream in iPhoto, import them to your library by control-clicking on the photo and choosing Import.  You can set iPhoto to automatically import photo stream photos to your library by going to iPhoto>Preferneces>iCloud and checking Automatic Import:

  • Photo Stream keeps turning off in Aperture

I have Aperture 3.2 and have enabled Photo Stream, several times.  It syncs all of my photos with my iPhone 4 and imports the new ones in a project.  I close Aperture and reopen it several days later, go to the Photo Stream library and Photo Stream is asking if I want to turn Photo Stream on.  All of the pictures are gone.  I turn it back on and it spends the better part of a hour updating.  I am using a newer MacBook Pro and sometime I power it completely down if it will be in the case for awhile.  When this happens I have checked the iCloud settings in the System Preferences and Photo Stream is checked.  Anyone else haveing this problem?  I seen some people are having the same trouble with iPhoto.
    Thanks,
    Mike

No, I am not trying to use them both at the same time with Photo Stream.  I have not had iPhoto opened in long time and I'm not sure if I have ever opened iPhoto since iCloud went active.  I only use iPhoto when I want to make a greeting or post card.  I just opened iPhoto and clicked on Photo Stream (on the left) and it asks if I want to turn it on.  I just noticed that there is a option to click that says "No Thanks".  I never turned Photo Stream on in iPhoto, but never said no thanks either.  After clicking the "No Thanks" button, Photo Stream disappears from the left.  Maybe that will solve the problem.  I will need to give it some time to see, because it does not happen right away.

  • My Photo Stream keeps turning off in my iCloud Control Panel on my Windows 7 PC.

I have an HP Pavilion g6 and it runs on Windows 7. iCloud is already set up on it, as well as on my iPhone, but when I go to use the computer, I find the Photo Stream turned off (I am still logged into iCloud Control Panel.)

  • Why does Photo Stream keeps switching itself off?

    Hello
I use Photo Stream, but I sometimes wonder what the point is as I have found it to be extremely temperamental. Probably 90 per cent of the time I start up iPhoto, I find that Photo Stream has switched off on its own and of course I then have to spend a valuable minute or two switching it back on again. Sometimes new photos do not sync to Photo Stream as a result. This odd glitch has gotten increasingly irritating with time and I would love to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in anticipation!
PS - I am using the latest version of iPhoto

Do you have more than one library?  If you do each time you change libraries you will need to activate PhotoStream for that library as PhotoStream can only be activated on one library at a time.
If you only have one library try the following:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Photo Stream keeps turning itself off in Aperture?

Anyone having trouble in Lion with Aperture 3.22 where, almost every time I start Aperture, I find Photo Stream has been turned off again?

There is a similar thread going on in the ApertureExpert forum. No answer as of this moment but maybe you should subscribe to it in case they find the answer. The ApertureExpert himself is looking for an answer.

  • Photo Stream is not "synced" correctly with iPhoto

I have approximately 900  photos in IPhoto but only show 300  photos in Photo Stream. how do I "sync" this? Ultimately, what I am looking to do is have my entire library, all libraries visible to AppleTV. Please assist. Thx

Cesar, see this support article:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989
(the paragraph on: "I see different photos in My Photo Stream on each of my devices")
I see different photos in My Photo Stream on each of my devices.
Your device will keep up to 1000 photos, even if they are older than 30 days. Photos older than 30 days are removed from the iCloud server, so all devices may not have the same photos, depending on when you enabled My Photo Stream.
If you prefer to have only the most current photos in My Photo Stream on each of your devices, and delete the older photos:
If there are any photos in My Photo Stream that you want to keep, save them to your Camera Roll, then back up your Camera Roll and other data using iCloud or iTunes.
Turn My Photo Stream off in Settings > iCloud > Photos (on a device using iOS 6, go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream). Confirm that you wish to Delete Photos.
Turn My Photo Stream back on. iCloud will automatically push your stored photos to your device.
Repeat these steps for each device.

  • PHOTO STREAM KEEPS SHOWING LOADING

    Hi Everyone..
I have removed most of the pics from camera roll on iPhone and iPad, and made separate photo streams of my pictures, more like albums. For e.g. each trip photos is a photo stream. This way I reduced the space usage on iPhone and iPad. However, whenever I want to access these photo streams and open them on my iOS devices, it keeps showing loading...Do I always need net access to view these ? It just takes a lot of time to view them on my devices...
    Some one please advise

    Hello Ashishoswal,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For Photo Stream to download the photos, an active internet connection is required.
iCloud also requires an active Internet connection via Wi-Fi or cellular data, and some features work only with a Wi-Fi connection.

  • How do you sync "all" the Photo Streams from my iOS6 devices to iPhoto '11

I just purchased iPhoto 11 for my MacBook running Lion OS. I can't seem to sync all the Photo Streams from my iOS6 devices to my MacBook. I need more than 30 days.

You need to open iMovie and it will have a event library called iPhoto Videos, click on that and the videos will load in the window next to it, then you make a new project in iMovie.  Then open iDVD and make a new project then import the movies to the program then burn to a DVD..

  • Using Photo Stream from iPhone while Computer w/iPhoto is Off...

What happens if my computer is off and I take a photo with my iPhone?  Will Photo Stream still add the photo to iPhoto after the computer turns back on, even if I delete the photo from my phone to save space prior to turning on my computer?

Once the Photo is uploaded to the Stream then yes.
But remember that it can only upload to the stream via Wifi, so, if you're out and about be sure the shot is actually uploaded.
But that said, a simple test would answer that for you. Have you tried?

  • Why does photo stream keep shutting off on my pc?

When I open my iCloud control panel, at first I can see that it's checked off - then when the program is fully open and allowing me to input I notice that the photo stream box is now unchecked.  I check it (turn it on) again and click apply.  Then I click try to access my Photo Stream on PC and it tells me Photo Stream is not enabled - go turn it on in the iCloud control panel.  Been there - done that.    I'm also using the iPhoto app on my iPad - don't know if this causes conflict??

The iPhoto app on your iPad is not the cause of this problem.
Try uninstalling the iCloud application from your computer. Then reinstall it following the links provided at http://www.apple.com/ca/icloud/setup/pc.html

  • Photo Stream keeps all photos - why??

Frankly I'm getting jacked off with the dicking around I have to do, to maintain my mac and other apple products.
All the photos in my photo stream never get deleted automatically. They are supposed to last 30 days - as of today, April 2nd 2013, I have images back to August 2012. Why? Surely they are supposed to be deleted after 30 days?
This is causing me problems with my iPad for space - I have no images on the iPad but aparently 1Gb is being used. I switched off photo stream but it seems to hold a memory of these images.

With respect - read your comments.

If you switch off photostream then the images must be on the device. Hence my comment.

  • I have photo stream selected in iCloud and in iphoto and there is nothing in icloud when i sign in.  Why?

Any assistance would be appreciated.  I haven't been able to get icloud to work for me since I got my macair.  All operating systems and apps are up to date.
    Thanks.

Photo stream will only sync new photos (since it was turned on), not old photos.  Use the old USB method to sync old photos from device to the mac.
If you HAD photos in photo stream some time ago, photos are only stored on the stream for up to 30 days, so if those have been there for some time, then they are probably deleted.

  • Does photo stream keep my pictures forever?

My wife's iPhone is out of space. She has 8 gb of pictures and videos. She is signed up for extra back up storage online with apple.
If we delete photos and videos from iPhone, will they still be retained in the cloud? If not, can we make them be retained in cloud or photo stream forever?

The only photo stream photos that stay in iCloud indefinitely are photos added to a shared stream (http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99).  (Photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days.)  The only issue with this is that they will be a lower resolution than the originals in your camera roll (3.1-3.5 megapixels).
Also, adding them to photo stream or a shared stream doesn't save any room on your phone because a copy will still be on your phone.  If you delete them from your phone, they will also be deleted from iCloud.
If you want to store your photo on the internet and still have access to them to view from your phone, use a service that is designed for that such as Flikr, Smugmug, etc.  You can also consider an alternative cloud service such as Dropbox.
Whatever you do, you should back them up on your computer by importing them from the camera roll with your usb cable (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).
