Photo stream taking all memory.

Even after deleting all photos and deactivating the photo stream, it is still taking up 6.1GB of memory on my phone. How do I fix this?

We had to replace my husbands iphone. Everything but our photos have transferred to the new phone.  I made sure that the new device is showing up in find my iphone.  I have turned on photo stream on all devices.  Why aren't they streaming to new phone?

Only photos taken in the last 30 days are transferred using Photo Stream.

  • Why is my shared photo stream taking up space on my iPhone when I have turned off photo sharing?

I have an iPhone 5c with iOS 8.3. It's only an 8GB iPhone, so I only have about 5.2GB of space to use. So I have to be very picky about what stays and what goes on my iPhone. Photos is one of those things that don't stay on my phone long. I have deleted all of my pictures out of my albums (both camera roll and recently deleted) and there can be no photos found in my library. In settings, I turned off all photo sharing capabilities, so I shouldn't be getting shared photos from family members on my phone and stuff. So why does my storage say that shared photo stream is taking up 54.6MB? I would like it to say 0MB. Am I missing something? I've included a couple screenshots to help clarify things. Thanks for your help!

This is what I mean. I'm seeing the 3.9 KB usage for Photo Stream under General>UIsage>Photos and Camera, nothing to do with the storage on iCloud and I have Photo Stream and everything to do with iCloud and photo sharing off. However, I may have had Photo Stream on before for a few weeks before I turned it off long ago. Could that data/used space just be a few photos that were once in Photo Stream before I turned it off if I've had it on before?

  • Photo Stream keeps all photos - why??

Frankly I'm getting jacked off with the dicking around I have to do, to maintain my mac and other apple products.
All the photos in my photo stream never get deleted automatically. They are supposed to last 30 days - as of today, April 2nd 2013, I have images back to August 2012. Why? Surely they are supposed to be deleted after 30 days?
This is causing me problems with my iPad for space - I have no images on the iPad but aparently 1Gb is being used. I switched off photo stream but it seems to hold a memory of these images.

With respect - read your comments.

If you switch off photostream then the images must be on the device. Hence my comment.

  • Photo stream is showing up in iphoto recent but not web and I am not able to join the shared photo stream.  all of my software is updated.  can someone tell me how to get photo stream in the web source list? thanks!

Can someone help me get Photo Stream to appear under Web in the iPhoto Source List? I have updated all my software.  iPhoto 11, Mac OS X 10.7.5  All of my preferences are checked.  I am able to see the shared Photo Stream on my iPad, but not my Mac.  The Mac iPhoto photos from the shared photo stream are appearing in the Photo Stream (under Recent), but I thought they would appear as a shared Photo Stream in its own file/album (like on the iPad and iPhone)  - labeled with the shared Photo Stream's title.  Is this supposed to happen on the Mac?  Thanks!

So you are saying for it to do what i want: shared photo stream to appear in web then i need to upgrade.
    Yes
Does that mean i purchase the new software an it's not just an update?
    Yes
Your profile indicates your running 10.7.5.  For shared Photo Streams you need to be running 10.8.2 or later: The following is from  iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:  iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
So you'll need to upgrade to Mt. Lion.
iPhoto requirements are free updates for iPhoto '11

  • My iPhone 4S was replaced yesterday due to my handset being faulty. Before I gave the faulty one back I made sure all pictures were in photo stream! All 1006 were however when I got home and set up my new handset, there's only 146. Please help??

I received my new iPhone 4S today due to the last one being faulty. I had 1006 pictures in my photo stream however on setting my new phone up I only have 146 :( please help?

Had this problem before. sometimes it's the network. downloading all the photos take time.If you r so sure 1006 pics are in the photo stream, then no need to worry. It'll come. Give it time. Good things take time! <wink*>

  • My ipad 2 under photos/ photo stream put all my pics in one folder. Now when I pull up photo stream I have to tap pic and then it opens all my pics. It use to not do that.

Ipad 2 now puts my pics under photo stream in one folder s when I open it up I have to tap the folder to open all my pics. It use to not do that?

    Hello Patrick1000,
This is expected behavior when you have "Shared Photo Streams" turned on. With Shared Photo Streams, you are able to create separate Photo Streams to share with others (notice the "+" at top left corner). If you wish to disabled this feature, please see below:
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
On your iOS devices, go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, and turn off My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Shared Photo Stream Taking Up Storage

In our family we do a shared photo stream every month. It's a great idea and I love being able to see the pictures, video, comments, etc. from all of my family members. It doesn't take up any room on iCloud which is very nice, however it does take up room on the users iPhone. I was wondering if there is a way to unsubscribe or delete the shared album without actually deleting it? I still want access to the shared albums (on the web or something), without having them be completely deleted for everyone else. If not, the albums themselves don't actually take up that much room on my iPhone, so it's okay.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and make sure the options are turned off.  If they are on, turn them off.

  • HT201317 I only have 300 photos saved on Photo Stream but all of a sudden all my photos from before March 2013 have been removed. Where did they go?

And how do I get them back? (If I can at all.)

If you're running a Mac and iPhoto that meets the requirements for iCloud and Photo Stream you can set iPhoto to automatically import all photo stream pics into the iPhoto LIbrary by setting the preferences as shown below:
The requirements for- iCloud and Photo Stream are laid out in these Apple doucments:

  • Syncing photo stream with all iOS

    Hello,
Not sure if I am doing something worong or misunderstand what photo streaming's abilities are.  I have turned on Photo Streaming with my iMac, iPhone and iPad.  When looking at the Photo Stream folder on the iPhone, how do I get that same folder synced to the iPad?

Turning on Photo Stream on your iPhone and iPad requires two distinct steps:
    1.  In Settings > iCloud, Photo Stream must be "on".
    2.  Under Settings > Photos & Camera, My Photo Stream must be "on".
Also, be certain you're using the identical Apple ID and password on all shared devices.

  • Why is Photo Stream taking up space on my iPhone? I don't even use Photo Stream?

I was just going through my pictures, seeing how much room they're taking up on my phone, ect. when I notice Photo Stream is taking up space on my phone. I don't use Photo Stream... As far as I know. It says it using 3.9 KB, but I have no idea where that number is coming from. How can I view what's taking up that space, if it's possible?

This is what I mean. I'm seeing the 3.9 KB usage for Photo Stream under General>UIsage>Photos and Camera, nothing to do with the storage on iCloud and I have Photo Stream and everything to do with iCloud and photo sharing off. I am using the IPhone 4 with ios6 version. When I go to settings and click on photo/camera it says 430mb on camera roll and  4.1kb used in photo stream. So when I go to the photo app to delete photos I click on photo stream tab it says I have no photo's in photo stream. What is going on and how can I delete those photos to create more storage?

Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and make sure the options are turned off.  If they are on, turn them off.
