Photo stream taking up storage but no photos in photo stream , so confused

I am using the IPhone 4 with ios6 version. When I go to settings and click on photo/camera it says 430mb on camera roll and  4.1kb used in photo stream. So when I go to the photo app to delete photos I click on photo stream tab it says I have no photo's in photo stream. What is going on and how can I delete those photos to create more storage?

Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and make sure the options are turned off.  If they are on, turn them off.

  • Photo stream taking up storage but I'm my even using it?

I don't have enough storage on my phone anymore. It says it's coming from my photo stream but I don't use photo stream.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and make sure the options are turned off.  If they are on, turn them off.

  • TS3989 all my pictures are in the photo stream on my phone but not in my photo stream on my computer

i have to get a new iphone because my speakers are blown and i was double checking to make sure all my stuff was backed up on my icloud and i noticed that all my pictures show up in the photostream album on my phone but the last 20 pictures are nowhere to be found in the photostream folder on my computer.

If older photos are missing it may be because photo stream photos are only held in iCloud for 30 days.  After that they are removed from iCloud but will remain (up to 1000 photos) on your device until deleted.  Also, only photos taken after enabling photo stream are added to your photo stream, and only when the camera is closed, your device is connected to wifi and you have at least 20% battery life remaining.
To transfer the missing photos you can either create a shared photo stream containing them and invite yourself to it (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99), import the photos to your computer and sync them to your iPad, or use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your iPad over wifi.

  • How to fix photos from taking up space when there are no photos

So I have an Iphone 6 16g. It says storage full and my photos are taking up the most space with 2.4gb. The thing is I have around 7 photos on my phone. I am not sure what the problem is. Could the photos be from an old iphone through icloud or something? Not sure.

With CS5 and above, there are two main avenues of decreasing export times.  One, get a faster CPU.  Two, get an nVidia graphics card with CUDA capabilities.
Note that the first will speed up all exports, while the second will only speed up exporting under certain conditions.

  • I have photos with the same numer but they are different photos how can I fix that?

I have photos with same names but they are different photos. Can I rename these photos ? How can I do this?

you can save a file with the same name by dragging and dropping from iphoto to a Finder folder
but (and there are always buts) you can only do up to 4 photos at a time
any more and you are not given the option
This is the error message you get:
An item named “IMG_8770.JPG” already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you’re moving?
4 or lesss  your options are:
    Keep Both       Stop       Replace
5 or more your options change
    Skip     Stop    Replace
it will add a space and a 2 to the name
    IMG_8816.JPG  turns to IMG_8816 2.JPG
this is the solution I was looking for; let the computer do the name change
    Cheers!

  • Shared Photo Stream Taking Up Storage

In our family we do a shared photo stream every month. It's a great idea and I love being able to see the pictures, video, comments, etc. from all of my family members. It doesn't take up any room on iCloud which is very nice, however it does take up room on the users iPhone. I was wondering if there is a way to unsubscribe or delete the shared album without actually deleting it? I still want access to the shared albums (on the web or something), without having them be completely deleted for everyone else. If not, the albums themselves don't actually take up that much room on my iPhone, so it's okay.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and make sure the options are turned off.  If they are on, turn them off.

  • Photo consuming hard drive storage but cannot be found.

My wife's 4s claims to have 5.0 GB of storage consumed by photos although the photos cannot be accessed from the phone or from a PC.  This happened after having a broken screen replaced although I do not see how the two are related. The company that replaced the screen (CPR) said "tough luck".  The phone's usage says the photos are there but as you can see the photos are clearly not.  I am assuming they are on the hard drive but the file path is interupted somehow.  We have already accepted the fact that photos of our family are lost but is there a way to regain the storage or by some miracle retrieve the photos.   Any input or assistance is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Try restoring the iPhone with iTunes.
Whatever photos/videos that were in the Camera Roll with the last backup should be restored.
If no change after doing that, restore as a new iPhone or not from the backup.
A good idea to use photo stream and/or regularly import the Camera Roll contents with your computer as with any other digital camera.

  • Can stream movies and music, but have to sync photos?

I can stream movies and music without taking up space on the AppleTV. I can't seem to figure out how to stream my photo library instead of sync it. Is that possible? Or must I sync the photo library to be able to browse it the AppleTV?

    a brody,
Per knowledge base article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305139, photos must be synced and cannot be streamed.

Did you restore to factory settings?new iPod via iTunes on this computer?
What happens when you try to sync?

  • I downloaded my photos from my Hp laptop, but all of the photos are in negative format - how do I fix this?

Do I have to remove all photos from my ipad now and try to download again?  Can I not change the view from negative to normal on the ipad?  Can I delete photos on the ipad?  Why did this happen?  Do I need a photo app on the ipad?

Can you see other pictures like wallpaper in normal mode?
Did you check the format of the photos you synced through iTunes?
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos via iTunes
On a Mac, these file formats will sync from your iPhoto Library to your device: JPG, JPEG, TIFF, PICT, GIF, PNG, JPG2000 or JP2, PSD, SGI, and BMP.
On Windows, these file formats will sync to your device: JPG , JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIF, TIFF, PSD, SGI, and PNG.
Did you check the settings for black&white in Settings/General/Accessibility/ "White on Black" ---> "OFF"

  • Photo Stream photos taking up storage on iPhone 4S

Today my 16 GB iPhone 4S told me that I didn't have sufficient storage and had to clear up some space. I plugged it into iTunes because I thought it was strange it would say that since I remember it having at least a couple of gigabytes free. It then showed that my photos are taking up 3.4GB of space, when I only have 67 in Camera Roll, and no videos. I then clicked on the bar so it would give me details about it, and it says I have 1067 photos, or in other words, my Camera Roll AND Photo Stream! This is very strange as the whole point of Photo Stream is so that your photos will be in the cloud and not take up valuable storage space.
I thought it could be that my iCloud backup is full so the photos don't go to the cloud, but then I remembered that it's the 5GB plus 1000 photos, so that can't be it. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix it?

It says 11.7GB is used, 978 MB left.  I
but according to Usage the photos are only taking up 2.7GB.
What is shown in usage as taking up the storage? Is it listed as "Other"?

  • Why is Photo Stream taking up space on my iPhone? I don't even use Photo Stream?

I was just going through my pictures, seeing how much room they're taking up on my phone, ect. when I notice Photo Stream is taking up space on my phone. I don't use Photo Stream... As far as I know. It says it using 3.9 KB, but I have no idea where that number is coming from. How can I view what's taking up that space, if it's possible?

This is what I mean. I'm seeing the 3.9 KB usage for Photo Stream under General>UIsage>Photos and Camera, nothing to do with the storage on iCloud and I have Photo Stream and everything to do with iCloud and photo sharing off. However, I may have had Photo Stream on before for a few weeks before I turned it off long ago. Could that data/used space just be a few photos that were once in Photo Stream before I turned it off if I've had it on before?

  • Why is my shared photo stream taking up space on my iPhone when I have turned off photo sharing?

I have an iPhone 5c with iOS 8.3. It's only an 8GB iPhone, so I only have about 5.2GB of space to use. So I have to be very picky about what stays and what goes on my iPhone. Photos is one of those things that don't stay on my phone long. I have deleted all of my pictures out of my albums (both camera roll and recently deleted) and there can be no photos found in my library. In settings, I turned off all photo sharing capabilities, so I shouldn't be getting shared photos from family members on my phone and stuff. So why does my storage say that shared photo stream is taking up 54.6MB? I would like it to say 0MB. Am I missing something? I've included a couple screenshots to help clarify things. Thanks for your help!

  • My iphone storage is full due to my large photo library. As I want to go on taking more photos, if I back up my phone to icloud, can I then delete all my photos from my iphone to make room for new photos?

My iphone storage is full due to my large photo library. As I want to go on taking more photos, if I back up my phone to icloud, can I then delete all my photos from my iphone to make room for new photos? Or will the next time I back up lose all those previously backed up as it is a 'new' set of data?
I just want to find the easiest and safest way of not losing all my photos while being able to take more than my iPhones storage worth as it is already full - can someone help me please? I thought icloud was the solution to not uploading my photos to the mac but I'm not sure if the way it's going is working and don't want to delete photos or lose my phone and then find out what I'm doing isn't actually storing my photos permanently. Thanks

    Hey EmilyEliza,
As you are clearly aware, it is important for you to have backups of your important data, including all of these photos you are currently keeping on your iPhone. While it is possible to use iTunes or iCloud to do backups of your iPhone, the problem becomes how to access those backups if you have deleted the photos from your iPhone. Once you have done the backup and then removed the photos from the iPhone, the only way to access the photos is by restoring the backups to the phone. See this article for information about backups made from the iPhone -
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
If you want to easily access the photos once they are off of the iPhone, another approach to this would be to import your photos from the iPhone into an application on your Mac, such as iPhoto. To learn how to do this, use the steps in this article -
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support
Once those photos are on your computer, it is still important to back up those photos to somewhere else, so you can be sure of their safety before removing them from the iPhone. Your Mac’s Time Machine application is one method of doing this -
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Happy computing,
