Photo Stream to PC backup

What is the best way to download (full dump) of Photo Stream to Win 7 PC and ERASE / DELETE the content appearing on Photo Stream on my iPhone 4? There are about 3000 photos on the Photo Stream that I just simply want to download on my PC so i can clear up space on my phone.
Also - wanted to know what is thfe best way to acccess and edit / delete / cut / copy the content on the iPhone, Photo Stream?  I have tried to like iTunes for many years, but I just simply dont know why Apple likes to make it "SO COMPLICATED" !!!
Cheers,
Abhi.

"My Photo Stream" is the name of the album containing your photo stream photos, and it can only have a maximum of 1000 photo stream photos on an iOS device.  Once that is reached, the oldest photos are removed as you add new ones. There is only one My Photo Stream album.  You can confirm that this is your photo stream album by taking a new photo, then seeing if the photo appears in this album after a few seconds when your phone is connected to wifi.
If you have an album called "Photo Stream" with 3000 photos in it, and your camera roll is empty, it's likely that it was either synced to your phone using iTunes from a folder on your computer named "Photo Stream", or it is a shared stream created by someone else, in which case it would appear in the "Shared" section of the Photos app.
There are only three ways to transfer photos from your phone to your computer.  One is to import them using your usb cable, which only imports camera roll photos.  Another is to stream them to your computer using photo stream, which only imports photos from the My Photo Stream album or a shared stream.  The last is to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them, which can transfer photos from any album.
If you don't want to manually save these photos to your camera roll so they can be imported using your usb cable, and they aren't in your My Photo Stream album, I don't know how you're going to transfer them without using a 3rd party app like PhotoSync.

Trying to save my videos on cloud if possible as i need to change iphones in a couple of days and don't want to lose the data?

Camera roll photos/videos are included in an iPhone backup.

  • My photo stream album (backup)

In iPhoto, when using iCloud Photo Stream, it would backup the photos from each month into a Month/Year/Photo Stream Album (event). Does Photos do the same?

No.  Each photo is added to a Moment representing the day it was taken. There's no monthly grouping like in iPhoto.
Moments are the equivalent to Events in iPhoto with the exception that they can only hold one day's photos.
However, you can create a smart album for a given month like this:
It will be like the monthly My Photo Stream Event.
Moments in Photo are the new Events.  There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder. To open the sidebar if it's not open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Album/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can be sorted manually.
Ask Apple for more sorting options in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.

Photo Stream does not "backup" your photos, you have to do that yourself on iTunes, BUT if you have the iCloud app for your PC/Mac installed, your photos will be on there

You have important information on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iCloud automatically backs up your device over Wi-Fi every day while it’s turned on, locked, and connected to a power source. When you restore from an iCloud backup, your purchased content is automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. • Iphoto uploading to photo stream frozen

    Hello,
iPhoto has recently encountered a problem. Over the holiday period I used my camera and put the memory card in my iMac. This usually imports the photos to iPhoto which it did and then imported them to my Photostream. When I go into my photostream none of the photos are there but in the top left corner it says that it's uploading the photos but has not done so.
Does anybody know a way that either I can stop this upload or get the upload going again manually?

Photos are only uploaded to iCloud after photo stream is enabled.  It's possible that you already had 300 photos in your camera roll when you turn it on so they weren't uploaded.  Also, photo stream also only maintains photos for 30 days, although earlier photos already streamed to your device from photo stream are not deleted.  If you had turned photo stream off, then back on, and the 300 photos fell outside of this 30-day window at the time, they would not be in your photo stream album.  (FYI, photo stream will also only save the last 1000 photos.)
If you delete the photos on your phone from the camera roll album, photo stream will be not be effected.  If you delete them from the photo stream album on your phone, they will be deleted from your photo stream on your phone and any other devices connected to the same iCloud account/photo stream.
To keep your camera roll photos permanently, don't rely on photo stream as a backup.  Import them to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).

  • How to re-download old photos from Photo Stream after computer stolen?

Hi, my laptop PC was stolen with several thousand of my pictures in it. Unfortunately, I hadn't kept a backup. Fortunately, iCloud Photo Stream kept a backup of the last 1,000 pictures for me. I can see those pictures in Photo Stream in my iPhone. A got a new laptop, I installed iCloud Control Panel, and it created a Photo Stream folder. It downloads the new pictures I take today. But it doesn't download the 1,000 old pictures. How can I download those old pictures?

I found a hack. Go in the My Photo Stream Album in the iPhone. Click Edit. Select the photos. Click Share to open the menu of options. Here I tried both options: Copy and Save to Camera Roll; I don't know which option is the one that actually worked. Then I went to the Camera Roll Album in my iPhone and the iPhone started copying photos from Photo Stream to the Camera Roll Album. I had to do this back and forth between Copy/Save and PhotoStream/CameraRoll a couple of times until the copying picked up; I don't know what are the distilled steps. Then I connected my iPhone to the laptop and saved the files as usual. I had to do this tedious process in chunks of hundreds as the iPhone was unable to get the 1,000 photos at once. That's how I was able to download all my photos from Photo Stream. Also, Photo Stream doesn't seem to remember the original filenames so the images are re-numbered.

  • I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. I Do Not want to Loose any photos or albums by deleting them from my phone and not backing them up correctly. My iCloud backup is only storing my "Photo Stream" and I can not locate them in iTunes after I sync/Back up.

I currently have an iPhone 5, 16gb. My storage is almost full on my phone. There are only 80 mg available. I am new to icloud and also have always had trouble navigating around iTunes. (Even after endlessly reading through support and help topics as well as calling)   My concern is about Not Losing any of my photos if I delete them from my phone. I have to delete a large portion of my camera roll as well as the Album Folders I have created. Although it would be great if there was a way to just keep my albums still. I have already backed them up to an external hard-drive, my computer and a geek stick. I'm not trying to be too paranoid about these photos, but, they are all of my 3 children. There are over 4000 pictures stored on my phone. Some photos go back as far as 2009.   Can you offer any information about backing up my Camera Roll, not just "Photo Stream", and albums I've created On my phone? I read that it's good to back photos up on both iTunes as well as icloud. I even purchased extra icloud storage to back them all up.   I do regularly back up/sync, my phone to my computers.   However, I cannot even locate where they are stored on iTunes, let alone look at them. And as far as my iCloud backup, it only stores the new pictures from "Photo Stream".   Please offer any advice you may have. I do not use up a lot of storage on my phone other than Photos and Contacts (it's a work phone).   I would definitely be able to sleep better knowing my children can one day see these pictures of themselves. I appreciate your time. Thank you,

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
    What computer do you have?

  • I had a one on one with my apple rep yesterday.  They backed up all my photos on my computer.  I was advised to delete photos from Photo stream on my iPhone and iPad and then back it up.  I did backup the iPhone, ipad back not possible not enought space

    Hello,
I had a one on one with my apple rep yesterday.  They backed up my camera roll from my iphone as well as my ipad on my computer as I was not able to backup to icloud due to lack of space.
They advised me to delete photos from my photo stream on my iphone and ipad and then do a back up.
I deleted the photos from photo stream on my iphone and ipad.
I was able to backup my iphone but NOT my ipad as it is saying that there is not enough room on icloud to do this back up.
    Any solution?

If it says Not Enough Storage Space on iCloud then you can get more Storage space for iCloud if you want to backup more Data on iCloud Storage. You will find the Pricing for Additional Storage Space and how to Buy Storage Space for iCloud from your Device in the Link below.

  • HT4847 I need to free up space in my iCloud - most of it is used by photos - if I stop backing up my camera roll will it send the photos to my photo stream?? I already backup all photos on photo stream on my macbook??

so if I stop backing up my camera roll and delete the ones stored on icloud - will it still send all new photos taken to my photostream?? I already save the photos on my macbook.
    thanks sheri

Yes, Photo Streams work independent of the iOS Backup.
But a better way to manage your photos would be best. Use Camera Roll for new photos only like we used to do with the old film cameras. Once your Photos are organized into iPhoto on your Mac sync them back to the iPhone through iTunes. The photos in the Photo Library on the iPhone are not included with the iOS Backup since they should be already backed up in the computer's backups.

  • Merging large camera rolls in photo stream for iCloud merge/backup/share

I've got some pretty large camera rolls on my iPhone, never having realized I wasn't "synching" them to my iPad. Well, I looked at them and saw some large ones, as well as 1.000 photos in my iPhone my photo stream.  I'd like iCloud to keep them sync he'd between the two, but can I do that? If I can, how do I take all the camera rolls and all those photos and get them into the my photo stream? There didn't seem to be a way to copy them, that I could see on my iPhone.
is it because the my photo stream size limit is 1,000?
and if not! how do I mass copy all those pics into the my photo stream?
and once I synch those, had do I synch them with the same iCloud account on my MacBook? That also seems like a problem, although Id ultimately like them there, because the faces, events, etc stuff in iPhoto seems really well done, plus, I've got the largest disk by far in my MacBook compared to the RAM in my iPhone & iPad.
any help would be really appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi Mike,
Something else you may want to set up. If you have the same iCloud account set up on the Mac and you have Photo Stream turned on in iCloud, then in iPhoto, under Preferences>Photo Stream, you can turn on the option to automatically import your Photo Stream into iPhoto. That way, you have a backup of your Photo Stream that is saved in iPhoto Events every Month:
I have mine set up to do this, and I find it to be a great backup to my regular imports. I leave my Photo Stream imports out there as they are generated in Events (June 2013 Photo Stream, July 2013 Photo Stream, etc.). I also then import my Camera Roll every month or so, and import it into an Album that I label as desired. Photo Stream, of course, only has photos, no videos, so importing your Camera Roll is critical if you take videos.
Post back after you have set things up if you have any questions!
    Cheers,

My iphone4 in Photo stream got 462 pcs pictures but backup to PC Windows base icloud software Photo stream just backup 262pcs pictures, How to backup full pictures to my PC?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device.

  • If I delete photo backup to icloud - does that also delete them in photo stream?

As many others, my 5GB of icloud storage doesn't allow me to do icloud backup if I include photos, so I'm about uncheck photos from backup.
I'm just a little anxious that this would also delete photos from photostream..
Can anyone say for sure that this is not gonna happen???

Turning off photos from icloud backups has no effect on photo stream.
BTW, regarding backups - always sync photos to a computer for archiving.

  • Can Photo Stream be a sort of a backup?

Can iCloud's Photo Stream feature serve as a sort of backup of the photos I take on my iPhone?
For example, I take 50 photos on my iPhone and they get uploaded to Photo Stream. Then within 30 days I turn my PC on and they get downloaded to the PC. Will they stay on my PC forever?
In other words, can Photo Stream kind of replace iCloud's Camera Roll backup for photos? Thanks.

Yes you could do that, but if ever you forget or something stops you, you may well lose some photos. Personally I'd keep the back up running.
