these are in my iphoto library and most of them in 4912x3264 resolution (raw format) but i have same problem with jpeg ones.

  • Shared photo stream quality issue

Shared photo stream FAQ states that:
"Shared Photo Streams supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and most RAW photo formats. On your Mac or PC, your photos are downloaded and stored in full resolution. On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple TV, your Photo Stream photos are delivered in a device-optimized resolution that speeds downloads and saves storage space. While actual dimensions will vary, an optimized version of a photo taken by a standard point-and-shoot camera will have a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution when pushed to your devices. Panoramic photos can be up to 5400 pixels wide."
Since I'm a little OCD about photo organization, I collect and organize all the photos my girlfriend and I take. She shares all of her picture from her iPhone 5s on a shared photo stream and I import them to iPhoto on my MBP. However, I have just realized to my great surprise that all her picture were downgraded in 2048 x 1536, even though I have downloaded them to my Mac. Anyone has the same issue or has any idea what is going on? The FAQ clearly said that they would be downloaded in full definition, but they aren't, which is really annoying as we often do large books for which the higher resolution is necessary, not to mention my retina display screen and 4K monitor.
    the FAQ

You should double check your and your daughter's icloud ID as currently set, because what you describe happens when two people share the same icloud account  (and I assume you are talking about a "photo stream" and not a "shared photo stream").
Settings>icloud, be sure the accounts are different.

  • HT5903 Are photos stored in Shared Photo Streams in full quality?

Does anyone know whether photos uploaded to Shared Photo Streams are stored in full (original) quality?
I'm interested to know whether Photo Streams can be relied upon for backing up photo collections (i.e. they can be downloaded again in original quality in case of loss from the computer/phone/iPad they were taken with), or whether it is only really for sharing.
    Thanks

    No. Not for shared streams

My photo stream keeps photos at full quality in the cloud, although it only syncs lower resolution photos to an iOS device, but full resolution to your computer.

  • Photo Quality - Shared Photo Streams

Is there any method of changing the quality of photos within shared Photo Streams?
For example, there's a massive drop from 8MP to 3.1MP for photos taken with an iPhone 4S then added to a shared Photo Stream. This makes it pretty much useless if I want to easily share original quality photos with other family members.

Photos stored in 'Photo Stream' are uploaded to the server with the original photo quality (Apple: "On your Mac or PC, your photos are downloaded and stored in full resolution. On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple TV, your Photo Stream photos are delivered in a device-optimized resolution that speeds downloads and saves storage space.")
When you access the photo stream with a Mac/PC, the photos will be at the same original quality, but on a device like the iPhone 3GS, however, the photos will be at a 'device optimized' resolution. So if you access the photo stream with an iPhone 3GS the photos will be a lower quality, but the photos on the server will still be at the original quality, which means you can retrieve the full quality photos if you have a Mac/PC.
With shared photo streams, however, the situation is a bit different. Apple states that "Shared Photo Streams deliver photos in a device-optimized resolution that speeds upload and downloads and saves storage space", and therefore the photos are not uploaded to the server in the original resolution.

  • Quality of photos to PSE10 through Apple photo stream

I have recently bought an imac and also have an iphone and ipad.  I am trying to improve the way I use photo stream.  When I travel I like to upload my images from my DSLR to the ipad and do some quick editing and this also gives me a second copy in case I lose my camera.  If I upload to my mac and then PSE10 direct from the ipad via the photostream, will I get the same quality images as I would if I loaded the images direct to my computer from the SDHC card?

additional information to my post above.  This morning I went in to the Icloud control center and found that it will not hold the checked box for photos.  I had done all of the above last night.  Today I went in and it was unchecked.  Re-checked and applied.  Don't know why it is not holding.

  • Does "My Photo Stream" feature preserves the full quality of the original photos taken?

I use my iphone's camera almost exclusively in taking pictures. I find the photo stream feature quite handy because unlike in the past, i don't need to manually back up my photos to my PC. But as I saw the size of my camera roll and photo stream in the Usage section in my settings, I found out that the size of each "album" is different.

Photostream photos are NOT the original size.   The originals go into your camera roll, and can be deleted once you transfer to your PC/Mac.

  • Photo Stream PC-error message "applephotostreams.exe has stopped working" and now additional photos that I want to upload is not uploading.

I sync my devices with a PC running windows.  I have turned on Photo Stream on my PC, iPhone4S & iPad2.
On my PC it creates two default folders in Pictures called "My Photo Stream" and "Upload".
Instructions says that you can add photos to the "Upload" folder and it will automatically upload to your "My Photo Stream" folder and when your devices are connected to wi-fi they will upload to each device and show up in the "Photo Stream" section of Photos.
I was able to upload 50 photos but then I got an error message that applephotostreams.exe has stopped working.
    How do I fix?

I was having the same problem.  Earlier in the week, I was able to drag a few photos to the upload folder and they synced correctly.  Yesteday, I dragged different photos, and I got the "applephotostream.exe has stopped working" error.
The solution - for me, at least! - was to reduce the size of the pictures being uploaded to the photostream.  While all of the pictures were jpegs, the first set were ca. 800K (3800 x 2500), and the second set were ca. 2.5 MB (4000 x 2000).  When I reduced the resolution of the last set by a factor of 4 (ca. 600 K, 2000 x 1500), they uploaded without a hitch.
Based on this admittedly sketchy experiment, it looks like Apple has a max picture size limit, apparently based on file size rather than picture resolution).  Perhaps < 1 MB?  To be rigorous, I should complete the experiment - leave the resolution of the second set of pictures alone and reduce file size by reducing jpeg quality.
Has anyone heard about a picture file size limit?

  • I imported 635 images into an iPhoto album so that I can share them via a photo-stream. However, iPhoto says there are only 600. When I try to add the missing images it says they are already there. Why can i not see these images in iPhoto?

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
    1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
    2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
    1. Right click images you want to share.
    2. Select Export version.
    3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
    4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
    See how you go.

  • HT201077 The photos I have transferred to my PC via Photo Stream are too large for me to share with friends.  How do I reduce the size and how do I share them with friends and family only?

I have the latest iPad update on my Ipad 3 as of September 23, 2012.
I havejust  taken a series of photographs with my iPad that I would like to share with family and specific friends ONLY.  I have set up the photos I want to share in Photo Stream.  I have synced them to my PC via iCloud.  Everything is fine except, the pictures are far too large to share ... and I don't know what exactly I am supposed to do in order to give my family access to these Photo Stream pictures.
How do I reduce the size of photo stream pictures once they are on my PC via iCloud?
What exactly do I do to give access to the photos on Photo Stream to specific people?
How can I share the videos I have taken with my iPad?
Many thanks for your attention.  I look forward to your reply.

    Select your photo/s.
    File menu > Export..
    Kind: JPEG
    JPEG Quality: Maximum
    Include: [√] Title and keywords
                [√] Location information
    Size: Full Size
    File Name: Use filename
Select one of the photos and open in with Preview.
    Tools menu > Show Inspector
Under the second button choose IPTC and it is all there.
    Sorry for all the confusion.

  • Photo Streaming stopped at photo 523

    Hi guys,
I just purchased an AppleTV and apparently everything's working just fine, except for photo streaming. I updated to the latest AppleTV software and I was very happy to see my streaming photos on iCloud appearing on my flatscreen. But then after a while the photos stopped loading. Aren't there supposed to be 1000 of your latest uploaded iPhotos? Mine stopped at photo number 523. Is there a way to "force" the device to continue loading the rest of the pictures?
    Thanks a lot in advance

Odd.   I don't actually use Photostream as I wouldn't want my content being automatically available on AppleTV as my recent photos may contain a mixture of family/personal/business content I wouldn't want aired to anyone.
Does AppleTV present all photos as options to view in a grid/slideshow to you - it does have finite memory which can be allocated to Photostream - I don't know if Photostream uploads full res versions or lower quality lower res like MobileMe galleries tends to, but if you have large original files it might be too much for the unit.  More likely it's a glitch or software bug.
    Sorry I can't give a concrete answer.

  • Are shared photo streams permenant?

I realize photos on photo stream only last 30 days and holds your most recent 1000 photos.
In order to organize my photos I have made "shared photo streams" that are stored on the icloud.  Are these going to go away at 30 days or can I use this as a system for backing up my pictures. I am assuming these "shared photo streams" count towards my total iCloud storage.
    Thank you.

The shared photo streams don't expire, but they are not suitable as a backup, they are meant for sharing photos with friends and family. Photos are only stored in a reduced size. You cannot restore your photos in a full quality from the shared streams.

  • How do I enable shared photo stream to subscribers without iCloud

I started a shared Photo Stream today using iOS 6 and invited my family members to subscribe to it.
They do not have iCloud accounts and were prompted to enter their iCloud accounts in order to access the Photo Stream.
It says that subscribers can access the stream online without an iCloud account but I cannot find a way to enable this.  I would prefer not having my family members sign up to iCloud or download the iCloud control panel for their PCs.  Is there an easy fix so that I can update the stream and they will receive a email with a link to the stream online for viewing?
    Thanks
    k

You are not alone. I've got the "iCloud can't find the page" problem as well.
Short summary: It seems that iPhoto/iCloud uses the same URL when you delete a Stream and then create a new one. The new one can then not be found.
    Long story:
Also set up a shared stream yesterday for testing, got the invitation email, clicked the link, browsed the page successfully. All fine - not as nice or useful as MobileMe galery, but at last something that is again usable to share to my parents AppleTV.
    - got rid of the first shared photo stream, confirmed the message the stream+files will be deleted
    - checked on icloud.com (original share email), yep it's gone
    - selected some images, clicked share, to PhotoStream, new
    - readded emails of people to invite, renamed stream to Friends+Familly
    - clicked on View website -> error message! ARRRGH!
    - disabled and re-enable public website, click on View website -> error.
    - called Apple Support: "Yes, some users are seeing problems, please try again later".
The link looks terribly familiar. Checked my Safari History. And yes it seems that iPhoto re-used the same link as for the original Photo Stream I deleted.
    So:
    - made a new Stream, check website -> works.
    - remember URL
    - delete Stream
    - create a new one, check website -> broken.
Apple: We love you, but your quality control, arrgh! Especially when it comes to iCloud.

    From another forum:
You can go to any picture in your Camera Roll, select it and then copy it by pressing the Home button and the Sleep button. This will make a copy of the picture in your Camera Roll and send a copy up to iCloud.
Note that "send a copy up to iCloud" = add it to Photo Stream. I would further add that you will want to tap the screen of your ios device to make the "black navigation bars" at the top and bottom of the screen disappear before copying the photo or they will be copied also. Picture resolution may be less than the original.

  • Retrieving photographs from camera roll before photo stream - usb not working

    Hi,
I have downloaded iCloud and I'm now using photostream. I can retrieve all pictures taken after I have done this but I cannot get the pictures off my camera roll before I started using photo stream. When I plug my iPhone into my laptop auto play does not open even though the phone will charge through the laptop. When I looked into this further it is coming up code 19 and my device in incomplete or damaged.
Can anyone advise me on how to get my pictures taken before photo stream was enabled off the camera roll without auto play? I have read discussions saying to take screen shots so the photos go into photo stream but this will take forever and loose the quality.

Remove and reinstall iTunes, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
