Photo sync to iPhoto on Mac

Hello. I have an iMac running Leopard.
I have a BlackBerry Curve 8330 with a 4gb data card installed.
Since adding the data card, new photo's that I take, are automatically
recorded on the data card.
When I run PocketMac SyncManager, to sync the photo's, only those
new photo's (recorded on the data card) transfer to iPhoto on my Mac.
I can no longer see my old photo's on the BlackBerry unless I navigate to
the BlackBerry Photo icon, hit menu, hit explore, and then naviagate to the
place where the old photo's are.
With the USB cable between devices, I am able to see the new photo's that
are recorded on the data card. I am unable to navigate (from the Mac) to
the section where my old photo's are.
I want to:
Combine all photo's together onto the data card so that I can import
them into iPhoto.
Can you please help me on this?
Thank you,
Tony

  • Select key photo for iOS albums synced with iPhoto on Mac

In iOS 7, if a user was syncing photos from iPhoto on a Mac to an iOS device, it was possible to choose what key photo would be displayed for each synced album in the Photos app on the iOS device.  In iOS 8, this seems to have been removed, and when syncing, a random photo is now selected for each album instead, which doesn't seem possible to change.
Has anyone been able to find a solution/workaround to this?
I'm guessing/hoping control will be restored to the user when the new Photos app is released for Mac OS X Yosemite, but any feedback will be useful.
    Thank you.

Same issue. Ever since upgrading to iPhoto on my retina MBP to 9.4.2. Problem seen with BOTH my iPhone 5 on iOS 6.0.1 AND iPhone 4S on 5.1.1, so not an iOS issue. For me, it impacts both albums and events. In fact, sometimes you can't even see the event under iTunes->device->photo tab, until you exit iPhoto & iTunes and restart both with phone plugged in. There is a workaround for the album's mis-order: by manually sorting photos through dragging a photo to a new location within the album and then placing it back. However, this doesn't work for mis-ordered photos under events.  Right now, I just have to live with it....  I have even tried removing all photos, deleting iPod photo cache, and starting anew. Even 1 event with 30 photos have the same problem.....
Really annoying as I like to see my event photos sorted by date.
Somehow, such syncing problems always seem to occur EVERYTIME there's an iPhoto upgrade. Are apple's departments so siloed? Do they not work with one another to test a software before releasing it?
Apple, please investigate and fix the issue ASAP!

  • Photo journals on iPhoto for Mac

    Hi,
Will Photo Journals be added to iPhoto for Mac (and not only an IOS iPhoto feature)?
I used to use a lot the mobileme gallery, and the photo journals could be a great alternative.
    Thanks

    Antoine,
since we are only users here like you, we can only guess. Please send feedback to Apple, that you want journals.

  • Photos synced with iPhoto (through iTunes) ignore edits (syncs original)

Not sure if this should go here, or in the iPhoto forum...
I edited a batch of photos in iPhoto and put them in an Album. I setup iTunes to sync that Album with my iPhone. All the photos now appear on the phone, however the images on the phone are the "original" photos, not the edited versions that appear in the Album when viewing in iPhoto.
So, the photos in the iPhoto Album are not the photos that get synched to my iPhone.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Can I sync both photos that are stored in a mac folder and my iphoto photos at the same time?
I don't want my work photos imported to the iphoto library but I'd like to have them on my ipad.

iTunes is set up to sync photos from one source at a time.

  • Issue with Photo Sharing on iPhoto on Mac

Hellp everyone, this is my first time posting on the Apple Support communities. I have been having issues with my Photo Sharing on my Mac (Iphoto 11). I recently was on vacation and wanted to share the photos with my girlfriend and a few family members. I uploaded my photos to Iphoto on my mac and then went to Share, Photo Stream, and then crated a Photo Stream of our vacation. It asks me to name the photo stream and invite people. When I click on ok it creats the photo stream and the people I invited get invitations to join the photo stream, however, when I go to look at the photo stream there is no photos in it and none of the people i invited see any of the photos either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

    SOLVED!
I had the same question.  Visited this thread and was disappointed to hear the feature was gone.
Then I thought it just COULDN'T be.  So I kept tapping.  AND FOUND IT!
Basically, when you are in your Photos App, as a previous poster said, it now divides your photos into "Moments".  These moments are arragned by Place and Date.
Wherever it says the name of a place, just tap the name of the place (above the tiled thumbnails of the pics taken in that place) and you will be taken to a map, centered on the Moment in question.  Use finger gestures to zoom in and out, and you will see the pics you have taken, georeferenced and tagged to the locations you took them, as before (except now in IOS7 it uses Apple Maps, not Google).

  • I do not see all photos exist inside a shared photo stream using iPhoto on Mac

There is a shared photo stream among 5 different users with 125 photos and videos inside. For my account I use 3 different devices to access this photo stream, an iMac, an iPad and an iPhone. All 125 photos appear ok on my iPad and my iPhone. However when I access this stream from iPhoto on my iMac I only see 69 of them. None of the photos I have shared using my accound are there plus some other photos and videos shared by other users. Other users can see all 125 photos in their mobile devices. What is wrong with iPhoto on my iMac?
    Thanks in advance,

    OSX version 10.8.5
    iPhoto version: 9.4.3
With these versions you cannot see the contents posted on IOS 7.0.4 devices by the persons invited to the stream. You will only be able to see the photos streamed by the owner.
If you want to see the photos added by the subscribers to the stream, you need to upgrade to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1. Mt. Lion does not support the new shared photo streams of IOS 7.0.4 fully.

  • How do I import photos import from iPhoto on Mac Os 10X yosemite?

unable to access photos and about ready to give up on lightroom. Need help please.

iPhoto stores photos in a hidden folder which makes for a challenge.
Easiest thing to do is to use the export function in iPhoto and select the
export original photo option. Export to a folder on your desktop to make it
easy to locate. You will lose any edits this way but is the only way to get
at your original RAW photos (I am assuming you are working with RAW images).
Once the export is complete, use LR Import function to either the COPY
option your photos to a new LR-managed folder of your choice, the ADD
option to add the photos to LR but leave them the photos where they
currently reside or the DNG option to copy them to a new folder and convert
your RAW images to DNG files. If you use the copy or DNG options, you can
delete the folder you used when you exported the photos from iPhoto but
don't delete the folder if you go with the add option.

  • How can I change the time of photos in info in iPhoto for iOS. I've done it in iPhoto for Mac but when I sync to my ipad the info field goes back to the camera time ignoring "modify original files" in iPhoto for Mac?

I used "adjust date and time" and"modify original files" to correct the time of photos taken on a camera used in Peru which was set to UK rather than local time. which is 6 hours  behind. This was to bring them into line with shots taken with other cameras set to local time. This was using iphoto 08 on a Mac. I then synced to my iPad. The photos stayed in the correct order in photos but in iphoto (iOS version) the original dates appear (the camera dates) and so the photos are out of chronological order again. This looks like a bug but is there a fix?

don't know what you mean by "write to master" but speculate that it means modify the original times, in which case the taken times on the camera should no longer be present
No,I meant your using the option "modify original files" will do exactly that - change the capture date original master files stored in the iPhoto library. Only when you do that, the "date modified" of your original files will be changed as well, and it will now be the date of your manipulation of the capture date.
Oh - I hadnt considered that possibility - but of that were the case, why don't my manipulated photos go to the end of the sequence as I have done all the manipulation after the end of the holiday??
In photos the synced album maintains the chronological order which I set up on the mac by modifying the originals, as you said,
That is what the linked article is describing: "some apps may sort your photos in the order you specify in the app (such as iPhoto or Aperture"
The problem I have is that, in the album, iphoto (ipad) sorts them differently to both iphoto (Mac) and the photos tab on the ipad
In addition to albums and events, synced photos appear in a unified category called Photo Library (on iPad, this is the Photos tab). Photos are not duplicated. This category will also sort photos in ascending order by the date modified.
"on ipad this is the Photos tab" - but this displays as per the original sequence ignoring time adjustments - the manipulations seem to be ignored (but are reflected in the album in the photos tab) and the photos tahat have been modified stay in their original positiom - they don't get put the end
Because the library uses a different date - the date modified - the date of the last time the file has been changed in any way - any editing you do to your image, including adjust date and time will change the "date modified"
This may change the sorting of the database but it appears not to influence the order in the albums
In addition to albums and events, synced photos appear in a unified category called Photo Library (on iPad, this is the Photos tab). Photos are not duplicated. This category will also sort photos in ascending order by the date modified.
So how can i get my photos in date and time order in an album in iphoto for ipad?
    Thanks for your help

  • I made a photo book in iPhoto and would like to transfer the book to my iPhoto on other macs and iPad.   How is this done and can it be synced between devices like photo stream.

I made a photo book in iPhoto and would like to transfer the book to my iPhoto on other macs and iPad.   How is this done and can it be synced between devices like photo stream?

You can create a Quicktime movie slideshow of the book's pages and share that. Here's how to get your book into an iPhoto slideshow and then export as a Quicktime video:
1 - While viewing the book type Command+P to start the print process.
2  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
3 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
4 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. Immediately select all of the photos in the new album and sequentially renumber them as "Page  " using the Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with the option to add a sequential number to each title.  This is to let you put the pages back in the correct order in the event they get sorted incorrectly.
Now you can proceed as follows: create the slideshow in iPhoto and export it out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large (480p with iPhoto 9),
    Happy New Year

  • I replaced the hard drive on my Mac, and when I sync my iPhone, only the recent photos will sync, not all of my photos. How can I get my old photos to sync in iPhoto?

I have just downloaded the latest version of Lion, and I have iCloud.

Photo sync is 1 way. You can purchase 3rd party software to extract the photos, but be warned, the photos stored on the phone are NOT full resolution. They are reduced in resolution and optimized for the screen on the phone.
Did you have a Time Machine backup? You can restore them from there.
The iPhone is NOT intended to be a backup device.

  • How can i sync my iPhoto Library to 2 macs using the same Apple ID?

    Hi,
I have 2 mac book pros (1 in the office and 1 at home) and I have all my photos saved on my office mac iPhoto Library. Is there a way I can sync both iPhoto Libraries? I will be using 1 Apple ID or account for both macs.
    Thanks

What do you mean by "Sync".
The general term means when two Libraries (A and B) are compared and files in Library A are copied to Library B, while files in Library B are also copied to Library A so that both Libraries are identical.
This is bi-directional copying and you cannot do this automatically with iPhoto. No Syncing software is capable of parsing the iPhoto Library in this manner. One or both of your Libraries will be damaged if you try this.
You can have uni-directional copying - files in Library A are copied to Library B - this is essentially backing up. Obviously you can also copy from Library B to Library A. So, if all your Photos are on Machine A then just back it up to machine B.
The nearest you can get to syncing is to use iPhoto Library Manager to move files/Albums/Events plus associated metadata between Libraries. This process cannot be automated.

  • Upgraded OS: How Can I Get iCloud Photo Library or Photostream to Sync to a Dedicated Mac Folder?

I'm totally frustrated and confused even after Googling. Hopefully someone can help me understand what it is Apple wants me to do.
As of yesterday, when I took a photo or uploaded a photo to any of my devices, it would transmit via Photostream to all my other Apple devices (iPad, another iPhone, Windows PC, and MBP).
Now I found it infinitely frustrating that while the photos would neatly deposit themselves in a specific Photostream folder on each device, even my PC has a dedicated Photostream folder provided by Apple's iCloud app for PC, there was no such folder or provision for Macs!
In order to access my Photostream on my MBP, I either had to open Aperture or iPhoto, or go to iCloud.com and then import the photo.
I upgraded to iOS8 on my primary phone to finally to take advantage of iCloud Photo Library and have the photos sent directly to my Mac's (running Yose) iCloud Drive folder --- or so I thought. Not only do I not get photos on my Mac's iCloud Drive Folder, it seems to have broken the link between my other devices!
To add injury to insult, my Phone sent me a "Could not back up - iCloud Storage almost full" message. Considering I had 2GB of iCloud storage available, I was shocked to read the fine print on iCloud Photo Library ... it uses your iCloud's storage, unlike Photostream which is totally free.
Is there any way or program anyone has found to deliver a seamless and intelligent Photostream folder on a Mac that behaves seamlessly and intelligently as it does with Apple's PC iCloud App and iOS native Photostream?

That's correct but your 10.6.8 machine has no way to put it there unless you manually enter it on the website.
That to sync data from iCal and Address Book in Snow Leopard to the iCloud server you must manually register and connect to the iCloud.com website which I have done.
You can't sync from Address Book or iCal in Snow Leopard.

The syncing to the same data in Mountain Lion is done via the System Preferences > iCloud, which I have done.
Supposedly that means the data on the iCloud server is then shared between the iPod Touch, SL and ML, but it is not.
Because data entered on the SL machine never makes it from iCal or AB to iCloud or from iCloud to AB or iCal, the link breaks there.. You can use a 3rd party app (Soho) and use it instead of AB and iCal.
But the problem exists on ML as well.
I get only some Contacts and iCal events transferring.
What you are seeing is probably from SL account which I use 95% of the time. Particularly my Address Book entries. I hardly entered any of those in ML, they virtually all come from SL and seem to have transferred previously. Possibly before the latest iOS updates, but I can't swear to that as I didn't check before/after.
The vast majority of my Address Book entries appear in both iCloud.com and my iPod Touch, but not my latest changes.
This is far from the "It just happens!" promised by Apple.

  • Saved Photos on iPad won't sync to iPhoto

I have something like 10,000 photos in the 'Saved Photos' section on my iPad (1st gen, 5.0.1). When I connect the iPad to my computer iTunes will open and sync, but when I open iPhoto the iPad does not show up as a device and I can't sync the saved photos. I'm not sure if Photo Stream would work, because I'm not sure the photos are saved in Photo Stream (there are just so many).

Read this for information on how to import photos to the Mac. It is really and easy process, but you can only import the photos in the camera roll - the photos that you took with the iPad or saved from emails and websites.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT408
Photos synced to the iPad do not sync back to the computer. They are already on the computer, so there is no reason to sync them back. You can import photos from the camera roll into iPhoto, but not synced photos.
When you create albums in the Photos app on the iPad, the albums are for local organization of the photos only. They do not contain copies of the actual photos either but merely pointers to those photos so that the photos will "appear" in those albums. Consequently there is no photo or any album to import back to the Mac.
If you created the albums in iPhoto on the Mac, reorganize them in albums that you want to send to a website for printing.
