Photo transfer from ipod to new macbk pro gone bad

I successfully transfered my music from ipod classic (80gb) using senuti. Then did "transfer purchases" option in itunes to recover the rest. Then acquired touch copy app. to handle photos from ipod only to find out, when I started app., that all my photos on my ipod were erased! I think it happened during my sync (transfer purchases). However I did a search and found a bunch of .ipmeta files on my computer. They are not readable and I can't get them to import to iphoto. Can I recover the pics from my ipod or my comp? Thank you.

  • Transfer from iPod to New Computer

I use my iPod to listen to recordings of lectures. I do the recording using a digital recorder, then download to the PC and import into iTunes then sync to iPod.
Recently my PC crashed and the hard disk is no longer recognized. I will have to buy a new hard disk and reinstall everything to get that PC up and running. It will take a long time.
I tried to sync from iPod to another PC to continue using the iPod but it won't let me. I got a message saying that everything in my iPod will be deleted if I use it with another PC.
I can understand the copyright issue for purchased music but I don't have any -- everything in my iPod is recording of lectures.
I looked for Apple Support but all their Support web site does is refer me to this forum.
Can someone suggest a way to transfer from iPod to a new PC? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for all your help,

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • HDD failure - can you import photos & music from iPod to new HDD?

My Hardrive gave up the ghost last night (flashing folder with ?) I have taken it back today to have a replacement HDD under warranty.
The only backup I have as such is all my music and photos on the iPod. When I get my MB back with the new HDD is there a way to get iTunes to import all the music & album artwork? aslo will iPhoto be able to import the photos (which are all on the iPod at full quality)?
Needles to say I will be buying Time Capsule in the next few weeks as it's going to take me ages to redo all the speedsheets and documents that were not backed up

There are a number of programs that can transfer data from an iPod to a Mac. Senuti is free but I don't know if it does just music or can transfer other data as well. At any rate, hit your favorite Mac download site and search on iPod.

  • Copy songs from iPod to new MacBook pro

My old iBook, which my iPod was linked to, was recently stolen. I have a new MacBook pro and I would like to move my iTunes library from my iPod (which I still have) to the new machine but there are some problems with this as I can't do it the regular way (i.e. connecting my iPod to the old computer and going to preferences and effectively turning my iPod into a hard drive etc.)
Is there any way to move my music to my new computer?

You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. • Synch music from iPod to new MacBook Pro .. can't find my music in iTunes

    Hello, this is Bryan ....
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro because my old MacBook was 7 years old. All of my data was saved on external hard drive (time machine) files and apps transferred fine. ... one thing which did transfer to my new computer is my music... Perhaps I don't know how to access iTunes properly ?
I have an iPod which I use with my stereo all the time   ... it has never been synched to the New MacBook Pro.
The iPod has 4,530 songs and some playlists ... I don't want to lose this data.
    Can someone help me ???

  • Computer was stolen--how to transfer from iPod to new computer

My computer was stolen and I want to transfer my iPod library to my new computer. I know how to transfer from one computer to another using an iPod but is there a way to do it when I don't have the computer that has my iTunes library?

There are a number of third party utilities you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection.

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive posted in this thread: iPod to iTunes
If your iPod was set for automatic update change it to manual update. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.
Another way is to connect your iPod and before it starts to sync, click the little X on the right hand side of the display beside the "Do Not Disconnect" message. The display is the little window to the right of the iTunes control buttons: iPod Interface
Or you could look at the method described in this link: How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
Go with whichever method you feel most comfortable. If at any point you are asked if you want to link your iPod to a new library, click No.

How do I transfer all my apps & contacts from iphone 4 to a new MacBook Pro?

As roaming gnome noted, to copy iTunes , simply copy the entire iTunes folder.
Just backup your iPhone to the new computer (after you copy the iTunes folder).

can anyone tell me how to transfer the songs i have on my mini to a brand new Dell laptop...
can i do this or do i need some 3rd party software???

How can Stuart copy music between computers, when his original one was stolen?!<<</div>
Precisely! He can't use his iPod to transfer his libary to a new computer because his original was stolen.
In order to use your iPod to transfer songs to a new computer, you need another authorized computer. A third party app will be required if the origianl computer is unavailable. My answer simply piggy backs on yours and points him to a link to show what he apparently wants to do is impossible.
"Copying songs from your iPod to your computer
The iTunes library on your computer holds all the songs you've encoded from your CD collection or purchased from the iTunes Music Store. With default settings, iTunes automatically copies the songs in your library to your iPod. When you use your iPod as a hard disk, you can't see the songs iTunes copies to your iPod in the Finder or My Computer. This is normal. Using the Finder or My Computer, you can't copy these song files from your iPod back to iTunes or to any other computer. The synchronization between your iPod and your computer is always one way: from iTunes to iPod.
If you've erased the music library on your computer, there's no way to use the Finder or My Computer to copy the songs from your iPod to reconstitute the library on your computer. One solution is to encode the songs from your CD collection again, then sync your new library with iPod. If you purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store and didn't back them up, there's no way to download them again. You'll have to buy new copies of the songs.
So what if you have some songs on one computer and you want to--legally--copy them to another. Can you use iPod's hard disk for that? Sure.
Configure iPod as a hard disk as described above.
Locate the iTunes Music folder on your computer. Inside the iTunes Music folder are all the songs you've encoded or purchased. They're organized by artist in various folders.
Drag the song files you want to copy to the iPod disk icon in the Finder or in My Computer. The number of songs you can copy will depend on how much free space there is on your iPod's hard disk. The computer copies the songs to your iPod. Keep in mind that iPod can't play these songs. You have to copy songs with iTunes in order to listen to them with iPod.
Eject iPod before disconnecting it from the computer.
Connect your iPod to the other computer. iTunes opens and asks if you want to associate your iPod with the music library on that computer. Make sure you don't do that, unless you really want to.
Double-click the iPod icon in the Finder or My Computer. A new window appears.
Arrange the windows so you can see the contents of your iPod and the iTunes library.
Drag the songs from your iPod to the iTunes window. The computer copies the songs to the iTunes Music folder on this computer.
To free up space on your iPod, drag the songs you copied to the Trash or Recycle bin and empty it.
Eject iPod before disconnecting it from the computer."

  • Computer Hard Drive Crashed - Need to Transfer from IPod to New Computer

The hard drive died on my old PC as I was transferring files to the new PC. Most data made it but my daughter's ITunes was not one of the things that made it. Fortunately the tunes all still exist on her IPod. How do I transfer them on to the new computer and ensure the music all makes it? She has a combination of music purchased from ITunes and music from CDs. Her IPod is an older mono screen model but I believe we had ITunes 6.x or later on the old machine if that makes a difference.

  • Some purchased items won't transfer from iPod to new computer

I purchased a new iMac from the Apple Store online to replace an old iMac G4. I can't get anything to migrate using Migration Assistant. I can't get the old G4 to start as a target drive. I've tried using an ethernet cable in addition to firewire. I get indications the two computers are connected, but neither can see the other's drive. I've tried mounting the drive from the G4 to the new iMac using a temporary drive box with a USB connection. That doesn't work. Anyway, that's really not what I'm asking about here.
I've also tried backing up my entire iTunes library on the old G4 to DVD. Although I burned 13 fricking blank DVDs, and all indications were that the backup was successful, when I tried to restore to the new iMac, about half of my library didn't go across. I can't find any reason why some things went and others did not.
So now, I figured that if I could simply transfer the 591 items I've purchased over the years from iTunes, from my iPod to the new iMac, I'd be a happy man. I know it's a pain in the butt, but I can always get out my CDs and add them again to the iTunes library on the new iMac.
I authorized the new iMac to play the items I've purchased on iTunes. The new iMac and the old G4 are the only two computers I have authorized to play the purchased music.
Now, the problem is that when I try to transfer my purchased items from my iPod to the iTunes library on the new computer, I get a dialogue box that states:
"Some of the purchased items on the iPod "***'s iPod", including "Symphony No. 41 in C, "Jupiter" K. 551: II. Andante Cantibile", could not be transferred to your iTunes library because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
***!! Notice that it said "purchased itemS?" There are another 99 purchased songs that can't be transferred because I'm not authorized to play them. I paid for them! Yet the other 491 purchased songs are okay? None of this makes any sense to me. I've done everything I know to do.
I purchased an Apple Care warranty for the new iMac. I'm just wondering if I take the old G4 and the new iMac to my local Apple Store, if they will migrate this stuff over for me for free. I love Macs, and I can't believe this has become so difficult.
If anyone has any ideas on what I'm doing incorrectly or how I can make this transfer work of just my music purchased from iTunes, I would be most grateful.

    bump . . .
I'm seeing that there is a bug with iTunes 8 regarding authorization. Do you think this is the source of my problem? Thanks.
