Photo Transfer PC to IMAC

Just purchased an imac running Mountain Lion OSX 8.3 and am trying to dowload photos from Elements 7 that are on my previous PC running Win XP.  Have just dowloaded Elements 11 on the imac and would appreciate any advice on getting my7000+ photos onto the imac and into Elements for storage?  What I'm looking for is practical advice as my current knowledge of imacs and downloading on them is pretty basic.

You can also email the photos to yourself.

  • Windows iPod Photo Transfer to new iMac G5 Query

    Hi,
I have a 40 GB iPod Photo that is fortmated for use with a PC using Windows Pro.
I have over 28 GB data or tracks on it, and i now wish to use it with my new iMac G5 that I have just purchased.
The thing is I dont know how to go about doing this, because I am concerned that if I copnnect it to my iMac G5, iTunes will remove all of the music that is already on my iPod, and I cannot have that happen, as It would take me forever to copy them to CDrom and then timport them into the iMac, I gues it would probably take me all of the Christmas and new year that way, and I have no idea if that would work poperly anyway.
Can anyone advise me how I can achieve my move over to the Apple computer please, without loosing my music. Once this is done I will not be wanting to connect it to my PC again. My iPod Photo is also set to 'Disc Mode' in iTunes so that I can see it as a drive in Windows if this is of any help.
Hope someone here can help or advise me.
    Thanks In Advance

    Nick,
As far as the Maxtor drive is concerned, I have kept it formatted as a NTFS Windows drive because OS X can read it without any problems at all, and apparently, according to Maxtor's web-site, if I format it as a Mac drive then it will not be recognised by the Windows system, and that I would have to partition it above 32MB!
So, I have purchased a Belkin Wireless Cable Router (it works with ADSL as well) for about 40 UK pounds. This I have connected to my Win XP machine with an Ethernet cable, and I now access both my 10MB Broadband cable connection and my Win XP machine on the iMac via the Airport Extreme wireless connection.
It was extremely (forgive the pun) easy to set-up, and took about 40 minutes from start to finish and that's only because the Windows machine crashed once, but after that it was just fine.
If you can, I would consider going for the Ethernet/Router way because it gives you access to both machines and Internet connections as well as printer and scanner sharing.
So if you wan't to know anything else, just let me know and I will do my best to explain.
Hope you had a good Christmas and Happy New year!

  • Photo transfer sync?

Purchased photo transfer app on Imac while iPad was plugged in. App shows up on iMac but will not transfer to iPad? Any ideas? Thank you, John

    Hi John,
Did you purchase 'Photo Transfer App' from ERCLab? If yes, I'm the developer of the app and I will be happy to provide any assistance.
If you already purchased the app on iTunes then you can download it again directly on your iPad using the 'App Store' app. You need to find the app and download it again - don't worry you will not be charged again if you are using the same iTunes account.
Another way is to connect your iPad again to your computer and go to the 'Apps' section on iTunes and make sure that 'Transfer' (our app) is selected from the list of apps that are synched with iTunes.
I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to email us at: support [at] phototransferapp [dot] com, we'll be glad to help.
    Kind regards,
    Enrique

If the photos are the photos from the camera roll, you can import them using iPhoto or Image Capture on your Mac. You can read about it here.

You can also use a third party WiFi app like this one.

How do I transfer photos from macbook to imac?

There are serveral ways.  Depending on how many there are you can email them to yourself.  You could also put them on a flash drive and download them onto your iMac.  Another way could be to Airdrop them (I suggest putting them all in a folder or compressing them to a .zip if you do this) from one to another.  Those would be the most simple ways to do it.

  • Photo transfer IMac to IPad

When syncing my photo albums from the IMac to the IPad, the vertical photos rotate to the horizontal. I had 260 photos on the album. I also have 17000 photos on the IPad, but I have 11.1 gb space remaining. How do I prevent this from happening?

With iTunes. Go to your iPad>Photos and check "Sync Photos" and either select all or select the ones you want.

  • Transfering photo library from old iMac to new iMac

I just got a new 24" iMac and want to transfer my photo library (~2000 photos) from my older iMac. Is there an easy way for me to do this which will keep all my photos still organized in albums? Or is there no way around it and I will have to reorganize them into albums again?
    Any help is appreciated!

    Pierre C:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes, there's a very easy way. Connect the two computers together so you can copy from one to the other and then copy the iPhoto Library folder from the older iMac into the Pictures folder of the new iMac. After the copy is complete I suggest you download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. This will make sure the ownership and access permissions are correct for the new library.
One way to connect the two is to connect them with an ethernet cable and create a mini network. Or you can connect the two together with a Firewire cable and boot the old iMac into Target Disk Mode and then do the copy with the new iMac.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Blog photo transfer for Mac

On the Google blog site there is offered a free download enabling transfer of photos to a URL, from which it can then be placed in a blog. As per usual, it works for Windows only.
Does anybody know if there is such a "service" offered anywhere for blogs on a Mac using Safari?

How do I transfer an album or set of Favorite photos from iPad (IOS7) to Mac (Mavericks)? All the photos transfer just fine, but the categorization seems to be lost.

    No backup?
Get an external drive and turn on Time Machine.
Now im trying to find the way to transfer all photos I have on my iPad and Iphone to the new iMac I have....
You will need a third party app.
Note that the photos are downsized from the original. They are optimized by iTunes and not the same as the original photos on yoru computer.

  • I can't open photo transfer from icon

I purchased the photo transfer app but it won't open from the icon on the desktop

    You are welcome.
Another way to do the transfer is to simply enable Photostream on your iMac and iPad.  Photostream does the sync without any input from you.  It's almost too easy.

  • Transferring old photos from Ipad to Imac using usb cable or local wifi?

Can anyone tell me how I transfer old photos from Ipad to Imac?  These were originally on a PC (now disposed of).  I can see how to transfer new photos from Camera Roll using Iphoto, but my 10 year archive with 1000s of photos appears stuck on my Ipad.  I have a very slow internet connection, so I can't send them across by email and would like a solution involving the usb cable if possible.
Worryingly this question appears several times in old threads but appears to be unanswered, but I will be pleased to be referred to the right thread with all the answers - if it exists!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Connect the iPad (USB) to your Mac then launch the Image Capture app. It's located in your Applications folder.
You can import photos from the iPad using that application.
You can even designate where you want to the photos stored on your Mac and which app you want to use for editing from the bottom of the Image Capture window.

  • How do I control photo streaming from my iMac to my IOS devices?

I have an iPhone 4, iPad 2, and iMac running latest versions of Lion and iPhoto.  I had photo streaming in the on position for each machine, and recently I downloaded over 1500 high res Nikon photo's from a vacation into iPhoto on the Mac.  I wasn't really thinking about the background activity with iCloud, but later I found that my memory was used up on the iPad.  When checking further, I found that all the vacation photo's loaded to iPhoto had photo streamed to the iCloud and been copied onto my iPhone and iPad.  Okay like duhh.....this is how it works, I get it now, very cool, now I have no memory left.  To make matters worse, there was no easy way to delete pictures from the photo stream on the IOS devices.....you have to individually check each pic to delete.  Lesson learned...I turned off the photo streaming from my iMac.
But, the way I really would like to use this is to have all photo's and/or video's taken with my iPhone or iPad to be streamed into the iCloud and copied automatically to my iMac.....but I don't want the opposite to happen....ie, when I download pics from my Nikon onto my iMac into iPhoto, I don't want those to stream to the IOS devices.  Basically my iMac is the major long term storage device (with backup hard drive)...I view my IOS devices as just short term storage devices, and if something needs to be saved it should up load to my iMac.
Is it possible to set up the devices this way with iCloud, ie, one way photo streaming?
    thanks ahead!

  • HT4597 Can I just choose which apps or photos to sync via iCloud since I don't want all of them in all my devices?  I have all photos & apps in my iMac but only sync manually some of them to my iPad and to my iPhone. Can I still do this with iCloud?

I have 3 Apple devices - iMac, iPhone, and iPad.  I am planning to move to iCloud from MobileMe.  In iTunes, I just choose to sync whatever files I want my iPhone and iPad to have since they don't have sufficient disk space as my iMac.
Can I just choose which apps or photos to sync via iCloud since I don't want all of them in my iPhone and iPad?  I have all photos & apps in my iMac but only sync manually some of them to my iPad and to my iPhone. Can I still do this with iCloud?
Calendars, emails, contacts, are fine since files are small.  What I'm afraid of are the apps and photos.
    Any reply will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not.
