  • C8180 On Off error msg and Photo Tray Error msg

I have a C8180 AIO printer with the two problems above. Upon turning the printer on the LCD announces that I should always use the on off button and not unplug it even tho It's always been plugged in.  After I press OK the photo paper tray msg states the tray is not pushed in all the way so I push the tray in to no effect. The printer recycles and displays the same  error msg again and again and again.
This is a show stopper. As long as this error msg is displayed I can't print.  I've seen these error msgs in the forums for other models in the 8100 series but I've never run aross a solution.  This printer was used with XP Sp3 and Vista.  However, the problems exist even when not connected to the PC in any way. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Removing all the cartridges, power cycling from the wall, and replacing them did the trick for my C6140. Great solution!!!
I feared I had broken it by using the main tray instead of the smaller photo tray for 4x6 paper, which resulted in grinding noises. As soon as the cartridges were removed, it was able to suck in and push back out the photo tray.

    4. Lower the output tray, and then press the OK button on the control panel

    6. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet

    9. Wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the product

  • How can I print from my ipad to the plain paper tray not the photo tray?

    I have a new
    HP Photosmart Plus All-in-One Printer - B209a
and an ipad on my showroom floor.
I let my customers use the ipad to browse through photos of items that are not on display, then print some of the photos. Right now the print job always goes to the photo tray - but I want it to print on plain letter size paper.  If there is no photo paper in the tray, the print job fails with an out of paper error.
Is there a way to get this printer to print photos from the ipad photos app onto the standard paper tray?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.
    Richard

Photos will always print from the photo tray, if the printer has one. This cannot be configured by the user currently.

  • HP 7260: Photo tray = color issues (pink photos)

    Hi,
I have a 7260 and it's working fine, as long as you don't use the photo tray.
Today I tried to print a couple of photos on advanced hp photo paper.
No problems at all, except that the picture is completely... pink.
So I tried to mangle with the color settings (in windows) and eventually ended up with 6 pink pictures.
Since I thought this was a settings error, I tried printing straight from the SD memory card.
I figured that if there was no computer involved, there wouldn't be any setting issues either.
And thus I ended up with 7 pink pictures.
I finally decided this would probably be an ink issue, but to make sure I tried to print the same photo on a regular A4 sheet.
And... no color issues there! Printing on regular A4 sheets works just fine!
Any idea how I could make the printer print the right colors on the right paper?

I suggest opening the Print & Scan System Preferences, then highlight your HP Photosmart printer in the printers list and delete it by pressing the minus sign. Now, re-add the printer by clicking on the plus sign and select the printer. Make sure that the 'Print Using:' pull down aut selects the correct driver for your printer. If it doesn't, pull down the list and manually select the correct driver using the 'Select Printer Software' option. Hopefully that will resolve your issue.

  • Help - photos are not printing from photo tray uToshiba Laptop

    Hello,
I just got a new toshiba satellite laptop and when I try to print photos using the glossy photo paper in the photo tray, it keeps pulling from the regular paper tray. I have tried selecting all kinds of the HP paper, but it still prints out on regular paper.  I also have a desktop and I have the exact same settings as that and the desktop pulls from the photo tray but the laptop doesn't. Can anyone help?
    Thanks so much,
    Shelly

If you are unable to print photos, the first thing that comes to mind is that you have the wrong tray selected.  I would start with Solution 4 of this document for a walk-through on how to setup the photo tray.   I know you are not experiencing an out of paper error message but it covers all of the steps you would take to print to the photo tray.  This printer has ePrint.  Have you set that up yet?  I am curious because I want you to try to email the printer an attachment of your photo because ePrint photos default to 4x6 and go straight to the paper tray.  This test will narrow down to if this is a printer problem or a setting in your computer.  Read through that link and let me know if it helps or not.  If not, how is the printer connected to the computer and what kind of computer are you using?

  • My printer has stop printing from the photo tray. I need to place the photo stock in the main tray

I've a HP PhotoSmart Plus printer B210a.  The printer will no longer print from the photo tray.  I'm still able to get prints; but I must place the photo stock in the main tray.  It becomes a problem, because I sometimes forget the photo stock is the main tray and I waste photo stock when I do my regular printing and only get part it because the photo was still in the tray.  Anyway to fix this?

    Hi there wmcook,
Could you provide the community with a little more information to help narrow troubleshooting? What operating system are you using and are there any errors when attempting to print from the photo tray?

  • 7520 not printing from photo tray

Brand New 7520 is not printing from the photo tray.  I am printing from photoshop CS5 and I do not see where I can select the photo tray.  In this instance, I am selecting 4x6 paper, but then it tries to print from the main tray, which I have emptied so I do not continue to print on plain paper. I have browsed some of the previous posts, but I have not been able to find a solution. It there a way that I can tell it to always print photos or a certain size paper from the photo tray? The reason I bought this printer was to be able to print small photos. Any assistance would be greatly apprecaited! Ciao!

I understand now.  I want to provide a document on how to print photos in version 10.6 which should be relatively close to your settings.  If this doesn't help you, let me know and I will gladly hand-write individual steps for you, this is just a little easier at this time.   I have learned from personal experience that the main tray will not even register the photos, as I had a customer one day kept getting an out-of-paper error message during ePrint and he did not know you had to lift up the see-through tray to put photos in there.  That isn't to say it is not possible through a Mac program.  ePrint is really basic so it likes everything to be perfect.   Tell me if the above link helps you.  If not, I have your version of Mac (I believe) and this printer. I will see if I can recreate this if you need me. PS- Thank you so much for providing this picture for me for troubleshooting purposes.  Might I add, that is a beautifully artistic photo.

  • Reinsert photo tray

I have a Photosmart Premium c309a. It will not print and the error message says"Re-insert or lower the Photo Tray".
I have done this numerous times, push it all the way in, turn it off, reboot, unplug it to no avail. If somebody can help me, I certainly would appreciate it.

What is the operating system of the computer that you are using with the printer? I am sorry that you are having that issue with the printer. Here is a link to a document that addresses that issue that you are having with the printer. Some of the steps listed are ones that you mentioned in the post that you have already tried, but there are some in there that where not mentioned. I hope that this helps.
If you are still in warranty, HP may replace the printer at no cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link will take you to a form to fill out. • 7520won't choose photo tray

Whenever I try to print a photo from my iMac desktop to my 7520, even though I go through all of the options and choose the photo tray, it will not print a photo from the tray but instead will print on ordinary A4.
I've tried removing the paper from the bottom tray and printing with photo paper in the main tray and I get an error message saying it is jammed.
This is extremely frustrating and annoying. I choose everything pointing to printing to the photo tray and I've wasted so much paper and ink
I'm about to put my foot through the printer
Now it won't even connect wirelessly.
    Help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Try going to System Preferences > Print & Scan / Printers & Scanners.
Click the plus sign to add a printer.
Select the listed printer, then click the Use drop-down menu and select the HP Photosmart 7520 rather than the default AirPrint option.
Add the printer and try pringin usin the newly created print queue. may you see any difference?

  • HP Envy 7645 won't print from photo tray

FIXED my own problem!Never thought to try setting the paper size to 4x6 in/10x25 cm! That's apparently what I get for being metric-phobic (or ignorant). But really, why provide a 4x6 option in the first place?  I can't get my Envy 7645 printer to print from the photo tray.  I'm specifically trying to print from the Photos app. I select the print option, set the printer, paper size (4x6), and paper options to "print from photo tray." I select print, and the HP print dialog appears and from there I am unable to set the photo tray as the paper source. The dialog comes up with "Default Settings" as the Presets option and when I scroll down through the dialog to select the Paper Type/Quality option, it shows paper type as HP Photo Papers, Quality is set to Normal, and the Source is set to Automatic (which fails to print from the photo tray; it defaults to the main tray). When I try to shift from Automatic to Photo Tray, I get an error message that says "The paper size selected is not supported by the Photo Tray. To print with the Photo Tray, go to the Page Setup dialog, choose a paper size supported by this tray, and then return to the Print dialog." At this point, I have no idea where to find the Page Setup dialog (it's not immediately apparent in the avialable options and I can't seem to find it under any of the Photos print options). Further, I don't understand why I'm getting the error in the first place as the paper installed in the tray is, indeed, 4x6 (as set in the original Photos dialog). I've tried playing with any number of varities of options (e.g, changing from HP Photo Papers to the generic other photo papers option, not specifying size of photo paper) and any time I select the photo tray option, I get the error message.

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  Did you still need assistance?  I see that you have some interface questions about printing photos from a Yosemite Mac using your HP ENVY 7645 e-All-in-One Printer.  I would like to help.  Have you installed your printer's full-feature driver on the Mac?  If not, click here to install. Also, for your information, your printer's specifications re: supported photo paper sizes is available here.       When I tried printing a photo from my Yosemite machine (albeit with a different printer) this is how I configured the print job:   If I had the option I would also recommend setting the paper type to correspond with whatever kind of photo paper you're using.  If this approach doesn't help try the following steps:  Uninstall your printer - click here for instructions.  Repair disk permissions on your Mac - click here for instructions.  Once you've finished running the above-noted utility, restart your computer. Lastly, click here to reinstall your printer.  Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!
