Photo Viewing Question

I come from a fragmented Apple family. I have an itunes account on my computer at work. One daughter has her itunes account on her laptop and another daughter has her itunes account on family PC. We all three have Iphones. My wife would like an Ipad primarily for viewing pictures that are downloaded to the family PC. In simplest terms please tell me the best and easiest way to allow this ipad to view pictures on the PC. Should I open up a separate itunes account for my wife? Can you have more than one itunes account on the same computer?
Thanks for your help......

The first thing that I want to know is does your wife have her own Apple ID on her iPhone? You can have more than one iTunes account on a computer. you have to remember to sign out of one account and then sign into the account that you want to use and you have to authorize the computer for the other account as well.
If your wife is mainly going to be viewing photos - why don't you share an Apple ID with her. Even if she wants to download her own apps and music, she can choose to select only her content to sync to her iPad and still keep her purchases in the one iTunes account that you share.
My wife, daughter and I all share one Apple ID for purchases and we each have our own iPod Touches, iPhones, iPads and MacBook Pro laptops and it all works just fine for us.
Bottom line, if it were me, I would have my wife share the same Apple ID that you are using. If she decides that she wants to FaceTime and Message on her iPad, she can link her iPhone number to the iPad to use for those apps.
However .....Does your wife have her own Apple ID on her iPhone? If she has her own Apple ID, that puts a different spin on things.

When I click to view my photos a question mark appears and will not let me view my picture. How do I fix this?

Suggests a permissions issue in the Library.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to check and repair Library permissions

  • How can I access properties in my photo files. I uused to be able to tag my pictures in photo viewer but now it either does not come up when clicked on or it is greyed out or blocked out.

Why can't I access properties nor add to the tags in picture properties when in photo viewer or at all?

Not sure why you didn't get it when the other guys did, it seems you want to be sure to point out how stupid my question is instead of trying to make sense of it. I'll reply to clear things up also in hopes you might be a bit more corteous when replying to something you are obviously missing, as two separate individuals have already posted clear answers.
-Why would you preview in the store if the item is in your library?
Because there is no preview option in the library, thus my question
-Find the album, select the first song then press Play.
As I said in my question, I want a preview from the middle. More often than not it will take time to get to the point where the song actually starts/drops
-When you decide you like it or not, rate it/add to a playlist then skip to the next song.
-Preview All is the same as skipping thru all songs on an album.
No, Preview All is automatically scanning through each song one by one playing an excerpt, it completely different.
-Something comes up? Run to your Mac?
I can understand your confusion on this bit - when a song plays that I like, I can return my focus to my mac and rate or add that particular song. You must understand that people listen to music while doing other things, and given the MBP has speakers, it is safe to say I may not be tethered to it with headphones while listening.

  • Issue with Windows Photo Viewer: "can't save picture because an unknown error occured"

    Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). I quite often have an issue in Windows Photo Viewer when rotating an image and trying to go to the next picture. It gives me the error "Windows Photo Viewer can't save picture because an unknown error occured".
Seperate from this issue: when I delete a picture in Windows Photo Viewer, it is still in the Windows Explorer overview of files. This did not use to be the case in Windows XP?
    Kind regards,
    Frederik

    Hi
    SOSv2 ,
This should be fixed in Windows 7 RTM.
Also, you can install Windows Live Photo Gallery to view and rotate pictures as well. To download it, please click
HERE . For more information about Windows Live Photo Gallery, you can

In addition, please understand that Nikon RAW images (and most Canon) do not support rotate functionality in Windows Photo Viewer, and thus rotate is
disabled. To rotate those types of images, the user will need to use an image editing program that fully supports their RAW codec.
    Regards,
    Linda
I am using Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM and still have this problem (with JPG's dumped from my Nikon to the hard drive).  Doesn't do it on every one that I rotate, but still very annoying.  Is there a fix?

  • All Files Try to open with Photo Viewer

I was downloading some pictures and when finished ,now all files try to open with photo viewer. (ie Word,Excel,Paint, just all files lised on the menu. If someone knows how to fix this pleas reply.

    Hi ObiWanKanobe,
I recommend you check the Default Programs. Follow these steps:
    1. Click Start – input “default programs”(without quotation)
    2. Click Set your default programs.
    3. Choose Windows Photo Viewer in the left panel, then Choose defaults for this program.
    4. Make sure you don’t check other types of files, like doc and so on.
Then check if the issue persists.
    Regards,
    Miya

  • Remembering last Photo viewed in a folder

    Hello
I am searching high and low and there is probably not a solution but is there a way that lightroom remembers the last photo viewed in a particular folder. For example i am sorting to a folder with say 8000 images for a project. But then I have to stop and work in another folder for something else. When going back to the folder with thee 8000 images it starts on the first one. Now I found a small workaround (I sort my images with name) but I tried to then sort to edit time highlight the the first image then and go back to sort by name and it seems to work but sometimes I do not remember if I seen all them or if I really stopped on that image. So thats why my question is there an option for Lightroom to remember the last image which was highlighted or worked on regardless how the pictures are sorted in the folder.
it would help a lot but as I see not to many threads about that I might be in a minority here

A number of people have requested this -- please see and vote on this topic in the official feedback forum: Lightroom: Remember last image selected in each folder.  Meanwhile, the OddJobs plugin provides this functionality, and the Any Source plugin provides a "back" button that goes back to the previous source (folder, collection, etc.), selection, and filter settings (LR's back button just restores the source).

  • Iweb photo viewer

    Hi,
I made my website in Iweb 3.0.1 and want to display some photo's. Unfortunately, I don't like the theme/template of the Iweb and I would like to use another one for example something like this: http://michielbrouwer.com/index.html (click UNHEIMISCH)
I'm NOT familiar with html and java so I'm looking for a photo viewer that I can easily drag into Iweb and update my photo's onto.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Roddy,
Thank you for your patience and also your kind email.
I will ask the question on here for now, but if I need more in depth question I will email you.
    1. How do I upload my "portraits" folder to the root folder on my server at Godaddy? I went to my godaddy's account page, but couldn't locate anything where I can upload a folder... Do I simply call them and ask them? If I have to, what specifically do I have to ask for?
    2. Do I have to copy everything (even the last part where it says "Your browser does not support IFRAME...") below and change the necessary URL and height & width?
<IFRAME SRC="http://www.website.com/FAExport/index.html" WIDTH="750px" HEIGHT="750px" FRAMEBORDER="0" --if "0" no border, otherwise "1" with border MARGINWIDTH ="0px" MARGINHEIGHT="0px" SCROLLING="no" --"no" no scrolling bar, "yes" show always, "auto" showed when need > Your browser does not support IFRAME </IFRAME>
Once again, so sorry for asking so many questions... and thank you very much for taking time to help me out.

  • Windows 7, Windows Photo Viewer

When I try to open a photo attachment (jpeg), it defaults to Windows Photo Viewer, says Loading, but does nothing more than immediately freezing my HP computer. I then have to shut down and reboot my computer. All efforts to re-open the attachment has the same result. How can I solve this problem?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello michael11
In the beginning Windows Photo Viewer was part of the Operating System, but Microsoft has move it into the Windows Essentials Application. I am linking you to the site that you can go to to download and install Microsoft Windows Essentials.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials
I would download the full version of the software as an update to either the Windows Operating System you are using or to the Windows Photo Viewer could have corrupted the application or could be preventing you from utilizing the application as it is not installed as the update is expecting.
Let me know if this fix works and if you have any further comments or concerns please feel free to re-post.

  • Event vs. photo view

I am thinking about upgrading to iLife 08 (mainly for iPhoto and its sharing and editing upgrdes).
I wanted to make sure before I did that, whether all my folders and albums within my folders will remain.
I take a great number of miscellaneous pictures in a given day that are not linked to a specific event, and believe that it will be simpler to organize them in the folders and albums that I have created for these miscellaneous pictures.
So my question is: Does iPhoto 08 eliminate my folders and albums, and if not, are they simply visible in the photo view option?
If that is the case, I imagine that I would stick to photo view.
    Thanks in advance.
    Russell

Basically you will find that each roll in iPhoto 6 becomes an event in 7 and your albums will be preserved as is
IF you want to further organize things events are MUCH easier than rolls to reorganize - creating new ones, spliting existing ones and merging existings one is very simple
I like the new interface much better and find the event concept easier to navagate and organize

  • Using photo viewer as external drive

I would like to buy an external drive (for my laptop) as back up to my current DVD storage. Ideally I would like one that the photos are viewable (am I asking too much?).
    My questions are;
    1) Can a photo viewer i.e. epson p-5000, gigavupro (or hopefully the canon M80 when/if launched) be used as an external hard drive with lightroom so that the photos are linked when the device is connected?
    2) Does anyone currently do this, & if so, any problems?
    2) Could the catalogue be on the photo viewer or just the photos?
    4) Does the speed of opening or working on the photos in lightroom differ compared to a standard external hard drive?
I would preferably like answers from owners/users of such devices, but any information no matter how small will be gratefully accepted :>)
    Thanks in advance,
    Nigel.

I currently use a firewire 800 external portable drive that contains both the image files and the LR database. This setup works beautifully.
I also just received a photo storage gizmo (has SD/CF/ect ports, reads cards and stores them on 80GB drive but doesn't view). When attached to my laptop, its HD appears as a mounted drive, just like my firewire external. If the viewer you plan to get also mounts (you didn't mention your OS), then it should work just like any external drive.
Edit: Just one caution - most of these photo viewer/storage devices use USB which may provide less than acceptable speed, if you plan to use the device as your work drive for editing in LR.

  • All Photos view in full screen can't happen?

Just want to be sure I'm not missing something.  When I'm using iPhoto in full screen mode, I only have Events, Faces, Places, Albums, Projects and NO PHOTOS view.  Right?

Wrong.  This is what I get in the Photos mode with Event Titles shown:
Click on a photo and it goes full screen.
This is what it looks like without Event Titles shown:

  • Can't open a link in a web page, goes immediately to down load and then when opened it shows downloaded to windows photo viewer, which won't open

I open a web page, in the web page there is a link to open another link. I click on this link and the doc is 'downloaded' automatically , I click on the 'green arrow' download button at top of screen, the page opens and says 'windows photo viewer can't open the picture because photo viewer doesn't support this file format or you don't have the latest update to photo viewer'!! I just want to open the link. Grateful for advice.

Where is that happening? Please provide the URL.

  • No more key photos in "Photos" view?

After upgrading, I can no longer see key photos in "Photos" view. Is this a setting that I can change, or did iPhoto '11 drop this feature?

It appears that that is a change in '11

  • In new iOS 8 photos app, I am missing photos in photo view that are in album view

All my photos in the iPhoto app on my iMac appear correctly in the album view in the new Photos app on my iPhone 6.  However, not all the photos appear in the photos view.  To try and get the counts to match, in iTunes, I synced my iPhone after unchecking the syncing of photos.  I checked the Photos app on my iPhone and there were no photos.  Then I checked to sync all photos in iTunes and synced my iPhone again.  Every photo on my iMac was in the album view, but there were still missing photos in the photo view.
Anyone have this problem and a solution?

Thanks for your response.  Turns out the iPhotos database was corrupted.  I rebuilt it and now the counts match.
I do have summarize photos turned off as you suggested.
But now I have a new problem.  I have smart albums in iPhoto on my iMac that correspond to decades.  These albums and the photos they contain appear perfectly in the album view on my iPhone 6.  However, a few photos in the photos view appear with the wrong date.  So I'm working on resolving this.
