Photo web page creation

I need some help trying to create a web page of photo thumbnails with blow-up larger images:
1) I want to create a contact sheet type of web page of multiple photo thumbnails.
2) When you click the photo it opens into a small window or "blow-up" version of the thumbnail. (Clicking the thumbnail does NOT take you to a new page with the full size image).
3) The blow-up photo has a circle and X that will close the blow-up window.
I've already figured out how create pages of thumbnails that will take you to a new page with the full size image. I'm trying to create the effect where you never leave the main page, the thumbnails just blow-up into small windows that can be closed again.
Apple uses this effect a lot with photos and movie clips on their page. An example of what I am trying to do can be found on the iLife/iPhoto/MobileMeGallery info page at Apple.
If you look to the right just under the main large banner images, there is a grey box titled "iPhoto Showcase." If you click one of the thumbnails there, the picture blows out to a larger size of the image, but doesn't take you to another page. The blow-up image has a little circle and X at the top left to close the window. Main page is still visible behind the blow-up window.
I'm using a fairly new MacBook with OS 10.5, Aperture 2.0, iWeb '08. I don't have a .Mac or MobileMe account yet. I'm a recent convert from the Darkside, so right now I use google's Picasa Web Albums and google's website creator for my site. If I can get this to work, I'll make the switch MobileMe once the early .Mac conversion kinks get worked out.

It is not like the old days where you build a site in Front Page and you assume it will only be seen on a desktop computer. If you build it yourself with a web page program, do you have the knowledge to make a site that works on all of the different web browsers and mobile devices, and is friendly to search engines and social media? If you don't have those skills, working with a website company can be a lot better, faster, and more reliable than trying to hammer all of that out yourself using code in some app.

Photo Web Pages

Hello,
I have created a welcome page and a photo page for my unpublished web site. I'd like to have several photo areas on one photo web page but I can't figure out how. So far, I've only been sucessful creating one photo page where I can drag a bunch of pics but they are all in one slideshow . I'm sure creating multiple photo sections one one page is easy to do but I am missing it somehow. Any help is appreciated...

Aperture 3.4 - screwed up web page creation?

I just opened Aperture after taking the upgrade yesterday, and attempted to build a web page form a selection of images (which I have done dozens of times before).
Now, however, when I select a Theme (any theme, it turns out) and indicate to add the selected images to the web page (or journal, for that matter), all I get is a blank page - the "teme" stuff is nonexistant. What did the gang in Cupertino do here? Is there some new setting I cannot find?

Web page creation / last edit date

Maybe this is slightly off topic, but I can't find a better forum.
All I would like to do is ask a web server the last date that a particular web page was updated/edited/written to.
anyone got any pointers?

The last-modified field isn't required; i.e. the server doesn't have to send this header. As I said, I tested the second snippet I wrote and had no problem with it. If the server doesn't send this information for your file, I'm afraid you're not going to be able to get the information you're looking for, unless you have permission access to the file via a URI (as in the first example).
Per the W3:
14.29 Last-Modified
The Last-Modified entity-header field indicates the date and time at which the origin server believes the variant was last modified.
Last-Modified = "Last-Modified" ":" HTTP-date
An example of its use is
Last-Modified: Tue, 15 Nov 1994 12:45:26 GMT
The exact meaning of this header field depends on the implementation of the origin server and the nature of the original resource. For files, it may be just the file system last-modified time. For entities with dynamically included parts, it may be the most recent of the set of last-modify times for its component parts. For database gateways, it may be the last-update time stamp of the record. For virtual objects, it may be the last time the internal state changed.
An origin server MUST NOT send a Last-Modified date which is later than the server's time of message origination. In such cases, where the resource's last modification would indicate some time in the future, the server MUST replace that date with the message origination date.
An origin server SHOULD obtain the Last-Modified value of the entity as close as possible to the time that it generates the Date value of its response. This allows a recipient to make an accurate assessment of the entity's modification time, especially if the entity changes near the time that the response is generated.
HTTP/1.1 servers SHOULD send Last-Modified whenever feasible.

KDE 4 and web page creation

The old version of KDE had the ability to create a simple web page. You could open a directory of images using konqueror, click-click-click, and you had a simple web page with thumbnails that could be clicked on to view the full image. I can't find it in KDE 4.
Any suggestions?

No luck as far as I can tell. I have several other distros with KDE 3 on them around but thats a pain. Also have MAC but I dont like the way Iphoto does it. Oh well. Maybe in the future. Thanks for your help.

Workflow to make a simple photo web page...

I need a workflow to build a basic html page with rows of 4 thumbnail picts (already created to size) and links to a larger image (already created to size too).
I have 1,243 images and I need a simple method of producing.
I can't seem to get automator to work with golive.
Any help would be appreciated.

Unless Golive has had Automator actions written for it then I fear you're out of luck. This which more or less presupposes that golive is AppleScriptable - I don't think it is.
I've just Googled golive automator actions and nothing positive came up.

I have just upgraded from CS 6 (Dreamweaver) and now when I click on a picture on a web page in Dreamweaver it doesn't go to the folder where the photo is stored anymore. If this continues I'll have to go back to CS 6 as I have to put in alot of photos.

Can't open a link in a web page, goes immediately to down load and then when opened it shows downloaded to windows photo viewer, which won't open

I open a web page, in the web page there is a link to open another link. I click on this link and the doc is 'downloaded' automatically , I click on the 'green arrow' download button at top of screen, the page opens and says 'windows photo viewer can't open the picture because photo viewer doesn't support this file format or you don't have the latest update to photo viewer'!! I just want to open the link. Grateful for advice.

The HP PhotoSmart 5514 is on Apple's list of AirPrint printers, so it should work. <iOS: AirPrint 101>
One problem might be that your WiFi router does not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint. Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update that will solve the problem.
I had a printing problem several months ago, where the WiFi had jumped to a neighbor's WiFi that happened to have the same name. There are a LOT of WiFi routers out there named "Linksys"!

How do you set up a web page on the iMac so you can upload photos and maybe even video from iPhoto to it?

You really do not need to create your own web page or site to upload photos to the web.
There are many sites that can host photos for free or very cheaply per year.
You create your own user location on these sites.
Do a search for either web hosting sites or photo hosting sites.
Here are a few you can look at to get you started.
There's Apple's own iCloud
Facebook
Image Shack
Photobucket
Picasa
Flickr
To name a few.
Do a search and see which photo uploading site works best for you .

Several spry photo galleries on a web page

I'm a bit new at this, but I have done the Don Booth tutorial on how to create a photo album using the spry framework.
It's all working fine. However, I want to place several galleries on the one web page and I'm really not sure how to go about this.
Any ideas?

The idea for this weekend of song came from my work with the Central Desert Choirs in 'Many Roads One voice'. There was a desire to follow up the project and have singers, black and white, spend more time singing together, learning repertoire and learning from each other. Morris Stuart from Asante Sana was my co – tutor and we have talked about the need to value the beautiful hymn singing and choirs from the Central desert. Many young people are not singing these days, and some of the elders had talked to us about helping the younger ones learn choir. </p>
    <p>Singers from Titjikala community, the Areyonga gospel choir and the Salvation Army choir in Alice Springs attended. The Areyonga choir are young singers taking on the choir tradition in a new way, writing their own songs and hymns. Sandra Windi taught us Nyanpi Matilda (Waltzing Matilda in Pitjantjatjarra) which just might be the next big Aussie anthem! </p>
    <p>The Salvation Army choir ladies sang some extremely beautiful hymns in the old Lutheran style of the Hermansberg Choir. They taught us hymns in Arrernte, Walpiri and English.</p>

You will have noticed that I changed the gallery name to ensure that there is a distinction between that and the second gallery name. I have also changed the id to a class because only one id with the same name is allowed per document.

Cant see my photos on web page but can on local computer

trying to put photo up in my web page...when i do and look at
my web page on www.cannz.co.nz there is no change to the photos on
the index page...
however when i go publish it says congratulations you have
succeeded...
why do you think i am seeing it on my local computer but not
on the www

Are you sure you are connected to the live host server in
Contribute?
What connection are you using? Try contacting your web
hosting people to
see if they have given you proper site url or a temporary
url.

Blocking the ability to download a photo from a web page using iWeb

You guys have been so helpful about helping me make video files and music tracks unavailable for downloading from my site by altering the javascript code on my iDisc. Now I have another problem.
The photo/pictures placeholders in iWeb permit me to place photos on my web pages. Is there a way to alter the code so that the option to drag-copy or download the picture from my site can be disabled?
