Photobooth, iPhoto and facebook

I recently got a macbook pro and don't know how to use everything yet.
When I try to upload pictures from the photobooth folder to facebook, for some reason pictures I took recently don't show up in the uploader. They are still in photobooth but I can't see the ones I took yesterday in the uploader. I thought I could fix this by moving them to iPhoto and uploading to facebook from there but I don't know how to move more than one at a time. Also, the pictures that are 4 in one (I don't know what they're called) go to iPhoto only as the first frame. Is there a way to move many pictures at once from photobooth to iPhoto and get the 4-in-1 pictures to transfer all 4 frames? Or is there a reason my new photobooth pictures don't show up in the facebook uploader?

HI,
You need the Facebook iPhoto Exporter available here.

  • Iphoto and Facebook aren't communicating. I'm unable to post pictures to FB from iPhoto. Any suggestions?

IPhoto and Facebook not communicating. Pics won't upload from iPhoto to Facebook.

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • How to unsync iphoto and facebook

I have successfully unsynced my iphoto and facebook, which allows me to delete photos/edit photos from iphoto without affecting my facebook pictures and albums.  Here's how it's done.
    Go to iphoto.
Click on "iphoto" in top left of your screen (in the tool bar)
    Click on "preferences"
    Click on "accounts"
Highlight your facebook account and hit the minus sign below.
Check the box that appears, and away you go.
Your facebook will now be disabled from your iphoto and your f/b pics will be safe.
I would advise not re-syncing, as I don't know what will happen if you do.  Now that I've come this far, I'm not going to bother finding out!
I safely emptied my iphoto trash, which held 4600 deleted pictures in it.  Many of these pics were posted on my facebook.  Once emptied, my facebook pictures were still safely showing on f/b.  (when you empty your iphoto trash, you must then go to the trash can on your dock as the photos have been moved to a folder there.  Delete that folder to permanently delete your trashed pics).

Larry, you have posted on every thread regarding people wanting iPhoto and Facebook to stop synchronizing changes and you actually sound like a Microsoft Windows fanatic as you explain why the hundreds of people that all want to do the same thing -- disable future changes to a Facebook album from 5 days/months/years ago -- just need to understand that the product works exactly as the manual describes and go away. Specifically, they should never have used the capability in the first place (i.e. they should travel back in time and alter their decision to use iPhoto's Facebook upload capability).
This is not at all in the spirit of how most Apple products work. Their products are generally quite intuitive. In this case, all users of Facebook have experienced album uploads as a one-time event (perhaps with a few additional tweaks immediately after the initial upload). Therefore, this idea of life-long synchronization is completely counterintuitive. Further, iPhoto allows the capability to configure a preference for manually syncing changes (and adds a sync button next to the album), yet continues to automatically sync certain types of changes even when said button is not pressed.
I don't think you've yet added any value to the discussion by implying that the typical and expected user experience is invalid -- especially when one cannot retroactively change a past decision to use iPhoto to upload photos to Facebook.
A simple "Disable future synchronization of this album with Facebook" checkbox makes a lot of sense. Yes, I submitted a feature request.

  • Iphoto and facebook - most recent photos not showing up in file upload!!

on iphoto, all the photos are fine and the most recent photos i import are in the recent import folder like they should be. i'm trying to upload a new profile picture to facebook but when i go to file upload and then click on iphoto to find the picture, it's not there, along with the rest of the recently imported photos. the most "recent photos" when i go to file upload are photos i imported from september 24, 2009 and i have imported a bunch of pictures after that date that aren't showing up when i go to file upload. i already tried rebuilding my library and all that but it didn't do anything. help?

I just started having this same problem. New events are not appearing in the media browser section of the file upload window. The last event to show up is from October 12th. I tried several different websites and browsers.
They are fine in iPhoto and the files show up in the "All Images" section of the Finder.

  • Issues tagging faces in iphoto and Facebook

    Hi
I have iPhoto 11 (v9.4.3 720.91) and have been using faces on it for the last 4 months or so.
I linked my facebook account with my iPhoto and have been sharing albums on facebook happily, assuming the faces I tagged were tagging on facebook too.
However, when I shared an album yesterday I realised the tags on facebook are just names, not links to the facebook pages.
I have spent ages reading posts and other questions like this but have had no luck... When I type a name, I see loads of names with the facebook symbol and those presumably tag correctly in facebook, however both mine and my partner's don't have that icon and aren't tagging correctly.
The full name of both of our 'faces' is correct, as were our email addresses. I tried changing the email addresses to the @facebook.com ones but that made no difference.
I have tried sharing a photo that iPhoto recognises as having two faces but kept them as 'unamed' and then tagged them in facebook instead. When I update my facebook album containing that photo in iPhoto, the photo has both of our names tagged, but in the info bar on the right, neither name appears in the 'faces' section; and both my partner and my 'faces' show one unconfirmed face on that particular photo. I am unable to confirm the faces though, it just keeps saying they are unconfirmed once I have confirmed them.
It is really annoying me, as I don't want to have to upload photos to facebook before tagging faces and tagging them on facebook and then on iPhoto AS WELL!
Anyone have any idea or any help here?
    Thanks,
    Jen

    Ok, thanks.
I think the issues I have are only with people whose faces I tagged in iPhoto before I linked to facebook...
Ill try contacting facebook and see if they can help. Will post any solution I get here for others.

  • Syncing multiple iPhoto and Facebook albums

    Hallo everyone...
I'm using iPhoto '09 on 3 Macs under the same LAN. Every Mac is set to login to same Facebook account and post photos. In this scenario I have:
    • Mac A created a album and shared to Facebook
    • Mac B created a album and shared to Facebook
    • Mac C created a album and shared to Facebook
When I check Facebook, I correctly see the three album posted, but every Mac "sees" in its library only the album published and not the other two from other Macs...
Is there a way to see on each Mac all the albums posted in Facebook from the others? Since they "share" the same Facebook account, I suppose it would be a great option!
Thanks in advance for your great job!
    Raf

Are you going to continue using iPhoto on yoru old Mac? As documented changes made to the ihoto library are synced to Facebook  --  if you simply trash the iPhoto library on the old mac then nothing will be changed in FB - if you delete them using iPhoto then then changes will be synced

  • Iphoto and facebook issues

My Iphoto library is showing exclamation marks where pictures once existed. These exclamation marks are all my Facebook albums. How do I make the pictures re-appear in my library?

where do you see these? When viewing events? when en=larging a single photo? What version of iPhoto? What has recently changed? Have you cleaned your disk or run any cleanup software like CleanMyMac2 or KacKeeper (Hint - Never use those programs - they are not needed and often damage the iPhoto library and the system)

  • IPhoto and Facebook - Syncing issues with publication error

I am having trouble with the syncing function using the facebook icon at the bottom right of iPhoto '09. I create a facebook album with several photos, and it seems to take the appropriate time to upload the photos. But when I go to Facebook, there is only a few, if any photos in the album. It did create the album, however. I delete the album and repeat the same steps, and a different amount of photos would upload this time, but nowhere near the correct amount. Also when i try to sync the albums again, usually an error message comes up saying...
"An error occurred with the publication of album "(Album Name)." Do you want to remove the album from your library?
    And then in small print
"The feed could not be found or is invalid."
And then the option to remove or keep the album.
Why am I having syncing problems?
For now I am using the Export function and a facebook plugin which works fine, but I want the ability to add photos to libraries and sync rather than using the export function.

Same problems here, multiple albums. It will upload a couple photos, then say it can't find the album.
(then Keep or Remove Album blah blah, because that's a good feature. oh wait, we couldn't find your photos, so we'll just throw em all out, cool?)

  • Iphoto and Facebook tagging (or retagging)

I've tagged about 1200 photos as Charlotte Rose but her Facebook name is Charlotte Smith. Is there anything I can do on my end to link them up when i post them on Facebook?

How do i edit photos and such without them going to facebook???
    You do not
That is how the iPhoto/FaceBook works - if you do not want your face book albums linked to iPhoto, then export the photos and upload them to FaceBook directly via the web upload
One of the major features of the iPhoto/FaceBook interface is two way syncing of albums

  • IPhoto and Facebook issue

I cannot get an album to upload to Facebook.  I just uploaded an album last Sunday.  Yesterday and today no luck.  I may get 1 or two photos up but most of the time it just says pending or publishing thumbnails and hangs there.  HELP  (Using 9.1.3 version of iPhoto 11)  Published to Flickr with no issues.

    Geoff
There have been loads of problem the last week with Facebook photos. Google Facebook photo upload.
In my case, Sunday Facebook deleted all my photos from recent albums uploaded via iPhoto. Had been working fine. Album uploaded yesterday works fine.
Anyway it appears the problem is a Facebook server snafu that may have occurred during Facebook system maintenance. Facebook hasn't said when or how it will be fixed.

  • Iphoto and facebook

I've uploaded albums to facebook, and want those photos to stay on facebook. However, I'm running out of space on my computer, and want to backup my photos. Is there a way to do that without losing all the photos from my facebook account?

Backing up your photos does not affect the iPhoto library or facebook any any way - a backup is simply a copy of the contents to protect you against loss due to computer, software or human failure - and you should be backing up often if your photos (and other date) have any value to you - things do happen
If you delete photos from iPhoto then the deletions will be synced to facebook and delete there too
If that is not what you want then you need to export the photos and upload directly to facebook rather than use iPhoto to upload - one of the features of the iPhoto interface is syncing

  • How does iPhoto references Facebook photos

Just wondering, I have many Facebook albums that I uploaded using Facebook online
I have just synced my account with iPhoto and its downloading all of my Facebook albums to my library
Is it actually making copies of the files to my library, or just referencing the photos from Facebook, because I really don't want it to download copies to my library
    Cheers

I'm having the exact same issue as FBC_21CA (the 1st response to andy.lawrence). I want to remove my Facebook account from iPhoto but the confusing warning message has me completely stumped.
As I've learned from reading a heap of forum posts on this topic, I too am a Facebook/iPhoto album upload user who did not realise the convenient upload function meant permanent syncing between the two.
In January this year [2013], when I unwittingly started making a mess of my FB albums by deleting pictures from my iPhoto library, I stopped using iPhoto to upload pics to FB. Well, I THOUGHT I did, which I've only just NOW realised was still happening! What I started doing to "get around it" (so I thought) was copying/dragging pictures from iPhoto to Finder (my desktop) then opening my FB account > upload new pics > browse to image location, etc. Perhaps stupidly on my part, I never thought to investigate the "WEB" sidebar menu item in iPhoto, which is where I've just found all the "Facebook Albums" that were being created 'behind my back'.
It was only today I looked into this again because I was editing some image descriptions on a Facebook Page (totally unrelated to my personal FB profile) that I manage and noticed a bunch of pics had the description "posted". This is a note-to-self I write in the image description field in iPhoto so I know which images I have published on my website (a Tumblr) versus those I have not. What!?!
Note: Every picture I've uploaded to my FB PAGE has been done using my same "workaround" (which actually didn't work) mentioned above. That is, copying/dragging pictures from iPhoto to Finder (my desktop) then opening my FB account > upload new pics > browse to image location, etc.
So now that this annoying sync function is screwing with my work-related photo albums (on my FB Page), something finally had to be done. I researched the forums and found this post from "jackiefromport hope" - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3514110 - which explained how to unsync iphoto and facebook. BUT when I go to do that, I get:
Are you sure you want to remove [your] Facebook account?
54 albums will be removed from your iPhoto library. They will still be visible on Facebook. Photos downloaded from Facebook that have not been imported will be moved to the iPhoto trash unless you choose to import them.
    QUESTIONS:
Is this going to remove the original, high res images or just the "Facebook Albums" I discovered today under the "WEB" menu in iPhoto's left sidebar?
Why would they still be preserved on FB? I don't want that either but if anything they should be preserved in their original location (iPhoto). NB: These are all pics I've taken on my iPhone and imported directly to iPhoto.
Re: "Photos downloaded from Facebook that have not been imported will be moved to the iPhoto trash unless you choose to import them." I don't want to download ANYTHING from FB. I already have the images in iPhoto. Will proceeding with the unsync create hundreds of duplicates?
    Please help.

  • ALL pictures in iPhoto *and* PhotoBooth are gone :(  please help

    Hello,
I have a bit of a dilema here. On 6-27-07 (actually 6-28 cause it was after midnight), my daughter and I were taking pictures in photobooth. I selected the iPhoto icon from the PhotoBooth picture to send a copy of those pictures to iPhoto.
PhotoBooth froze up after doing several of them and wouldn't work. I am trying to remember from memory (which is swiss cheese from the MS), but I think I had to do a hard shut down. When I tried to go to iPhoto, it acted like it was my 1st time using it and it began asking me questions as if I was setting it up for the 1st time. ALL pictures are GONE. Everything in iPhoto and PhotoBooth are GONE I don't know what I did or how (if I can) to fix it.
Can anyone possibly help me? Lots of precious memories gone. I was recently going to read how to do a back-up right before this happened. Now I wish I hadn't gone to sleep that night until I learned how to do it and actually did make a back-up
My husband called Apple and they told him to do something and now that has created approximately 3 copies of random pics and not all of them, or I would just delete the extras. My husband may have done something wrong to have it make extra copies of the pictures it has now, I don't know.
My husband didn't seem like he was happy with the help that he was getting at the time. So, I found my way here again!!! I have been to the discussions boards once before, but I forgot how to get here (serious swiss cheese memory from MS). I have to save ALL websites that I like to my favorites or I should say 'Bookmarks' or I will probably never find it again. <embarassed>
**I will tell you a little about me and the use of my mac....... I have Multiple Sclerosis so my husband purchased the lap top to make it easier for me to get online and not be stuck to one chair which makes me hurt bad. I am new to Mac and have always used a PC.
Anyway, when we purchased it we explained that I would mainly be using it for Internet use and for the pictures that I take (I am disabled, so that is about all I can do but I thoroughly enjoy it), which happens to be more than the average person since I have a new Grandson
Any help that anyone can give me, I would TRULY APPRECIATE!!!!!!
    Thanks,
    New2Him

    Brenda,
    You're quite welcome.
That does sound like your original library. It makes sense to me; your husband was probably told to drag it to the Desktop by the Apple help desk person. Look inside your Pictures folder for the other two iPhoto Library folders. If you don't find them there, do another Finder Search. Click once on a found item in the Search window to see its path at the bottom of that window. That should help you locate those folders.
After you find and rename or delete the other libraries, you will be ready to create a new library. (You might not want to delete those other folders yet - in case some photos are missing from your main library. But if you are sure that nothing in them is original, go ahead and Trash them to free up the space.)
To create a new library, Option-launch iPhoto and click "Create Library." By default it will be located in your Pictures folder and named "iPhoto Library." You can change the name if you want - say, "iPhoto Library New" before you click "Save." A new, empty library will open. Drag the right corner of the window up so that it fills only about half of your screen. Do iPhoto > Preferences > Advanced and make sure that there IS a check in the boxes beside "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when importing to library" and "Add ColorSync Profile".
On the other half of your screen, open a Finder window. Set it to column view and navigate this path: Desktop/ iPhoto Library/ Originals/ 2007/ (Film Roll folders). It is these Film Roll folders that contain your photos. Select all of the Roll folders and drag them as a group over the iPhoto window until the cursor shows you a green plus symbol. Drop them in the main viewing area of the iPhoto window. iPhoto will indicate to you that it is importing. A film roll will be created for each folder that you dragged. [Tip: if you want an Album to represent each film roll, then drag them to the Source Pane (left column) instead of the main viewing window. This will create an Album and a film roll, both with the same name as the imported folder.]
I have read that the film roll date can be wrong after importing, so you may want to check the dates as you go. Open the Info Pane in the lower left corner of the iPhoto window (click the little i). When you select a Roll, its info will display in the Info Pane. You can edit the Roll's title and date, if you wish.
When the 2007 rolls have all been imported, switch to the Originals/ 2006 folder, select the roll folders, and drag to your iPhoto window. Repeat for each year in your Desktop library.
This will recover your Original, unedited photos in the same film rolls as before. What cannot be saved is your Albums, Slideshows, Books, titles, keywords, ratings, and other metadata. These were contained in the database file that was damaged during the iPhoto hang or subsequent hard shut down.
If you had spent significant time editing your photos, then you may want to have a look in Desktop/ iPhoto Library/ Modified to see if you wish to save any of the edited versions. There is no way to reconnect the edits with their Originals; that info was also stored in the database file. But if you want to import them to your library you may. Be aware that this will cause the appearance of duplication, much like you had in the library your husband created. If you can part with your edited versions, then it is much easier to discard them. (If not, be selective.)
I'll look forward to hearing your progress. Regards,
    Shelly

I'm having problems with iPhoto and the facebook set-up.  Every time I attempt to do so it says an error has occured and try again later.  I have not seen a solution posted.  Therefore, how does one contact Apple to solve the problem?  I'm new to the world of iMac but I find it a bit frustrating trying to solve basic issues/problems:(

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa
