Photocast Problems - IPhoto 6

I subscribed to two photocasts published from MobileMe. It gives me the names of the two albums but I get this error when trying to update:
The Photocast at http://gallery.me.com could not be found or is invalid.
However, it shows the dashed outline of the correct number of pictures in each album and has the appropriate album name listed.

The error has got no name and no number. The Apple says only, that the translation has breaked down.

What is your iPhoto version?
And what do you mean by "not responding"? Is iPhoto hanging and showing the spinning beachball?
Can you launch iPhoto, if you hold down the options key while launching and select or create a different library?

Will Photocast from iPhoto '06 make a comeback in iPhoto '11

    PhotoStream works great on my iPhone and my iMac.
   But it only works with my personal photos on my
personal devices.
Photocast was a feature from iPhoto '06 that allowed others to
   subscribe to folders on your iMac and recieve
   automatic updates just like PhotoStream.
   Now would be a great time to bring back
   PhotoCast to iPhoto '11 and include it in iOS 6!

The only Apple way to share photos are
iMessage, email and Photojournals.
Photojournal are cool, but are only viewable
through the browser when sharing.

IPhoto does not quit .PHOTOCAST PROBLEM?

I have been trying my first photocast.
I got the announce email, see the tornado -like symbol next to the album I am trying to photocast.
But I cannot quit iPhoto.
Red button (quit button) on upper left is dark,and not available
I go to the IPhoto Menu and click quit. the window closes but I can see in the Dock that iPhoto is still active.
Is this because I have published a photocast? Does this mean I can't ever quit iPhoto?
When I go to iPhoto Menu : Share and select Photocast I see the blue Publish button is pulsing.
Will this continue unending? Or is this telling me that the publishing process is not yet complete
HELP gives no real information on what I should expect when I photocast.

Photocasting in Iphoto 6

I have created an account and posted an album, but when my father tries to open the photocast on his account he gets the message: Photocast can not be found on .mac server. He has an Imac G5 with Iphoto 6.
Any suggestions???

Photocasting problem

I've been happily Photocasting for a while with no issues but now I have run into a problem. The Photocast is mine and my mother subscribes to it. Up until now my mother has had no problems downloading the photos but now she is getting an error message saying there is a problem subscribing to the Photocast. Any ideas? The photos are on my iDisk and they show up on other RSS readers (I checked on Feedreader on a PC).
The error message is 'the Photocast could not be found on .Mac server'.

A Photocast is no more than an RSS file retrieved via an HTTP request (unless I really misunderstand something). The URL it points to is usually something like http://photocast.mac.com/username/iPhoto/album/index.rss
I did kinda notice in one RSS reader on windows, the URL seemed to redirect from http://photocast.mac.com/ to http://web.mac.com/.
Well, it seems that in Safari, the photocast.mac.com URL will auto-launch iPhoto, and the web.mac.com URL will load in Safari like any other RSS feed. I haven't tried it, and I'm not for certain, but my guess is something got messed up in iPhoto, and it's looking at the web.mac.com URL.
You can check the URL of the subscribed album by viewing its info within iPhoto. I don't think you can change it if it's wrong, but you can easily re-subscribe and just move the pics out of the bad album.
Another thing to make sure of is that you didn't change the name of the album or anything, because if you did, the URL will be different, and she'll have to re-subscribe to it.

Printer selection problems iPhoto 6

Since upgrading to iPhoto 6, I have to change my default printer in the printer setup utility in order to print to the printer I want. Before the upgrade I simply selected the printer I wanted to print on in the print menu (just like in any other application!) and no problem. Now when I want to print on my Epson R300 instead of my HP3330, which is my normal default printer, I have to make the Epson the default and then switch it back when I'm done printing. If I don't do this iPhoto prints to the HP3330 even thogh I've selected the Epson in the print dialogue. This is new problem and is unique to iPhoto as all my other applications print as they should once I select the desired printer. Anybody know why this is happening or how to fix it?

I have the same problem w/ iphoto 06! I suddenly cannot print my photos to my HP photosmart unless I change it to my default printer... even if I have selected photosmart in the drop down menu... the image is still sent to my other hp printer?

Slideshow problems IPhoto 8

This is for the record...and if anyone has answers to my problems it will be appreciated. So here goes...
Created 1st slideshow with a playlist of 5 tracks customised to each event successfully and sent to iDVD to burn without any problems. It was 20mins duration with 350 photo's.
2nd slide show 500+ photo's & 45mins long with 15 tracks. Encountered problems when sent to iDVD one event coordinated with a 3min track went so fast that all the music went out of sync'. There were 66 photos in this section and had made the transitions very fast and each frame 1sec long to fit in with the bouncy music. Sent to IDVD as before but would not appear in this site but eventually found it in Movies in Applications. The IDVD went dead on me and had difficulty getting it back but did with the help of my very patient husband and lots of bad language!!
As there was just this one area holding things up I reduced the frames in this section and made the transition times longer and photo time mostly 3 secs. I then sent the slideshow to Quicktime Desktop where I checked the play back and everything was fine and in sync'. Opened IDVD and dropped the Desktop movie into the usual zones and successfully burned the slideshow.
There does seem to be a lot of probs with this slideshow lark that i am thinking of investing in a Fotomagico3 anyone got any info on this software?? Can't be any worse than Iphoto/IDVD!!!!

The problem here is that iPhoto 08 has very limited export options. Later versions have better ones. However, I smiled when I read
Mac designs these beautiful computers...they look so good and then are so stingy with the software. Why is that???
Which is amusing given that you were contemplating spending more than the cost of the entire iLife suite to replace one facet of one of the apps.
The truth is that these apps, while very capable, are aimed at folks who want to do simple things. Divide the cost of the iLife suite by the number of apps, and you can see that iPhoto is a $16 application. For that you do get a lot but you don't get everything. And as your use grows and your demands get higher you can easily outgrow them.

Problem iPhoto imports triplicates of my iPhone photos

Hello,
When i want to import my iPhone photos on my mba'2012, iPhoto wants to import 3 times each photo.
Instead of importing 1006 photos, iPhoto imports 3018 photos !! :-/
For example, for a IMG_1500.jpg, iPhoto imports IMG_1550.jpg, IMG_1500_2.jpg and IMG_1500_3.jpg. (same size for each photo)
Everything is fine in the Photos.app in my iPhone, i see the exact number of photos (1006).
HDR is OFF
So what the problem?

Colors problems - Iphoto to tv

I have a problem with colors in Iphoto when I plug my macbook 13" 08 in my tv. I use a mini-dvi to dvi, and dvi to hdmi to plug my macbook in to my 47" plasma hd tv (it's a Toshiba).
Everything look very great on my tv, but when I play slideshows, or presentation from Iphoto, all the colors goes bad. A lot of red and yellow. It's the same thing in front row. When I do exactly the same thing on my macbook, everything look very great.

I got an iMac late 2009 Model with the Mini Displayport on the back,
I upgraded to Lion when it was released...
got the Mini Displayport to HDML Adapter, got the HDMI Cable,
plugged everything in, the TV knows the HDMI Cable it in but shows No Signal,
and even though the iMac flashes the Blue Screen a few times, it still doesn't pick up the TV
:-/ very confusing.

Problem iPhoto 09 & Printing with Epson R2880

I have an Epson R2880 and I'm having print driver problems with iPhoto 09. I am using a Dual Processor G5 PowerMac running OS X 10.5.8. I've tried contacting Epson Support about this but they refuse to accept that the problem is anything to do with them. They insist that the problem is Apple's and that I should contact them about this.
The problem is this, my R2880 recently stopped working normally with iPhoto 09. It did this after a cartridge change from Photo Black to Matt black. This problem only affects iPhoto. My R2880 works normally with all the other programs that I use to edit or print images namely Lightroom 2.6, Photoshop CS3, Photoshop Elements 6, Apple Preview & Bridge CS3. I have tried connecting my R2880 to a powered USB socket on my computer and via a hub and I get the problem in both cases.
By not working properly I mean that the normal Print Settings part of the printer driver menu is now not available when I try and print from iPhoto. Instead, the printer driver now displays a menu item called Printer Features that not only appears to be incomplete, it also does not offer the functionality of the normal Print Settings menu. Actually, in addition to Print Settings, the Page Layout Settings & Paper Configuration are all now missing from the iPhoto Print Driver dialogue.
When I first installed the R2880 printer driver (back in November when I bought the printer) I also discovered that I had this problem with iPhoto. After installation, the R2880 worked with all my programs except iPhoto.
I contacted Epson support about this. They advised that I re-install the driver after downloading it from the Epson website. I did this. It did not solve the problem. In the end I found that I needed to reinstall iPhoto 09. Once I had done that, it too then worked properly with the R2880 ie the Print Settings part of the printer driver menu was now present. This was the case until I changed cartridges as described above.
Strangely, I have also found that I can get iPhoto to display the normal Print Settings part of the menu but only if I do not select the R2880 as the printer when I first select Print from the File Menu in iPhoto. When you select Print from the File Menu it brings up an additional Menu that asks you to select the printer you want to use. I have three printers, an Epson D120, an Epson R2880 and a Dymo Labelwriter 450.
If I select the R2880 and then press the Print Button , the Print Driver that is then displayed contains the non functioning Printer Features as described above. Strangely, if I select the D120 and then press the Print Button and then change the printer selection to the R2880 when the Print Driver is displayed, the Printer Driver then displays the normal Print Settings.
I'm be interested to know if any other R2880 users have experienced this problem with iPhoto 09. As I said above, Epson insist that as the driver works normally with other programs the problem is with iPhoto and therefore I should contact Apple. This isn't really a practical: I have no Apple care as my machine is five years old and Apple only give 90 days telephone support with software.
I maintain that as the driver isn't installing properly with iPhoto 09 that the problem is an Epson one.
Has anyone else experienced this?

If you run CS5 or LR as a 32bit application you will have all these option available to you. You can then save these options as presets that can then be applied when you are running the applications in 64bit mode even if you can not access them individually.
Also you might want to check Epson's download site especially the European site to see if there are newer drivers or updates for your printer. The newest drivers for other printers like the 7600/9600 support application running in 64bit mode.

Iphoto upgrader has caused a problem, iPhoto will no longer open its library

I had an old dvd of iphoto pictures which I wanted to bring into my current version of iphoto, I downloaded the iphoto upgrader and did as the instructions indicated but it seemed like I was in a loop, when I selected the library from the saved photos, the imac would indicate that I had to download the uopgrader (which I had, this is were it kept looping) So after several attempts I gave up, but when I treid to open my existing iphoto it came back with the same mesage saying
To open your library with this version of iphoto, it first needs to be prepared.
to prepare the library, use the iphoto library upgrader avaialble from Apple
So now it seems I cant access my existing iphotos ( I cant even tell you what version of iphoto I have as I cannot look at the "About iphoto" as it is greyed out) My imac is 2 years old.
Any help would be appreciated as I seem to have gotten myself into a hole and have no idea how I got there and more importantly how to get out.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you get when you launch iPhoto?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

Import problems iPhoto and other Photo software

Hi there,
I am a new MacBook Pro owner with Leopard 10.5.1 and iLife 08. Absolutely impressed by the system, but a bit disappointed that importing JPEG formatted photos from files sometimes results in garbled photos in iPhoto and Aperture, even though the originals are simply fine. Tried to used other software like GIMP, but the issue remains.
Is this a known Mac OS X problem? If so, does anyone have a solution for it?
I would be eternally grateful for any help I can get on the issue.

Thanks for answering. The photos have all been stored on my FAT32 formatted external USB 2.0 harddrive that I used with my old XP system. And the majority was taken with a variety of digital cameras (Toshiba, HP and Sony) and some were scanned in with a HP flatbed scanner.
I do not know how to check the color profile of the photos on the Apple system (I am still a newbie) and I did not look at them yet on my old XP system (but I will, but I am not near the system at the moment).
Would the color profile have anything to do with the problem?

I have a big problem. iphoto started deleting albums from my facebook. How can I stop it from deleting my fb albums? Why is it doing this?

I uploaded a few photos from a memory card and went on iphoto to crop a few. When I finished a message box popped up stating Your album titled " ____" was deleted from facebook. The photos are still in your iphoto library. The only choice that you have is OK. I did a option command escape and forced quit out of iphotos. I thought this might stop the fb album from being deleted...but it didnt! The album was deleted from my facebook page! The next time that I opened iphoto a message box popped up and again another facebook album was deleted. I am now afraid to open iphoto! How do I make this stop? Note; I do have a lot of photos on my macbook pro and they are all backed up on an external drive. I like keeping the pictures on my mac but if it comes down to it I would rather delete files from my laptop than lose them on fb. HELP!!!!
