Photodeluxe Business Edition

The time has come to upgrade an old WIndows XP machine that has been running Photodeluxe Business Edition. Unfortunately, this software has been discontinued for quite some time.
What is a good replacement for the Business Edition that will be able to read our years of stored Photodeluxe format files? Needs to be able to run on Windows 7 or 8 OS platforms.

Had to do a recovery on my Windows Xp Media Edition yesterday. Just got this message when I started up my PC today and tried to open up Adobe Photoshop Business Edition 1.0 (I know, i know, but I LIKE Photoshop Business Edition 1.0. It does everything I need it to do without all the complications): "The program you are trying to run has a plug-in to correct known issues with this version of Windows. You should install the EPS Parser plug-in for Adobe Photodeluxe Home Edition 3.x and Business Edition 1.x to insure proper operation on this version of Windows. Contact the vendor regarding upgrades that are compatible with this version of Windows."
Can someone point me to a page with this download on it, please and thank you?

Goodness, i must be braindead....i should have thought about Binging it (i don't do Google anymore...%:~}...). i had some nutskull of a tech support person convince me that i needed to do a PC Recovery a couple of nights ago, and i have been reinstalling all after market software i had on my PC.
Thank gawd i had done a backup 7 weeks earlier or i would be sending in my PC right now to the shop to "recover" most of my data from my hard drive, an expensive proposition. As it is, i'm having to reset all my previous configurations and software and it's been a real nightmare....

Any Other Dinosaurs Out There? Need PhotoDeluxe Business Edition 1.0 Help (Restore after Crash)

I'm still using BE 1.0 and very happy with it, but in rare instances it crashes. It leaves behind a file named ~PDTnnnn.tmp in my "...\Local Settings\Temp" folder. Is it possible to restore the session from this file?

I have no idea how this topic was revived - that is, procedurally. In the course of answering many posts, I started an e-mail correspondence with a guy who still uses PBE 1.0. I e-mailed him a message on a new glitch in PBE (leaving artifacts when moving text or cutting and pasting selections within an image). I haven't heard from him since I did so. Perhaps, somehow, my message to him became a new post. How that would occur is beyond me, but I've been in the computer business long enough that nothing much surprises me anymore.
I believed your assertion ("No. Trash the file. Bob") from the moment I read it because, operating in a Windows world, I knew that not many utilities are built to recover from fatal errors. I prefer the UNIX/Linux world where that's usually one of the initial design considerations.
I also prefer UNIX/Linux because things tend to work as advertised more often, and often more quickly. In the process of creating a flyer for a new restaurant in my area, I started out using PBE under WinXP Pro SP2, but it left the artifacts I mentioned above when I moved text. I switched to GIMP and, after much delay in learning it, finally produced a flyer that looked great on "print preview".
However, on printing, I got only a tiny upper-left corner, much magnified, of the flyer. I checked every setting that might even remotely affect the pixels-per-inch ratio. Tinkering with them made no difference. I salvaged the project by writing the GIMP image as a PNG file, then opening it in PBE and printing it.
When the flyer was successfully used, the restaurant owner wanted a slight modification to change it from special- to general-purpose. I booted Ubuntu Linux, ran GIMP there, opened the special-purpose PNG file, completed the edits in mere minutes, and printed in the desired "zoom" on letter-size paper using the same GIMP settings that, in the Windows version, would have produced an impressive stand-up cardboard flyer for a movie-theater lobby. (Whew! I haven't written a sentence that long since my undergraduate sixth-semester English Literature midterm paper.)
All this verbage is a way of saying that you put the original question to bed long ago in your original post. I'm learning a great deal about image processing in both the WinXP and the Ubuntu worlds, which is intellectually satisfying since I once worked two consecutive jobs where I manipulated images, both with software I wrote to convert between image formats and with a custom-written binary-file editor to convert a scanned image file to one which could be inserted into any stream to any printer.
However, I can't afford to spend that this much time on image editing because my real strength and my employment objective lies in creating special-purpose software in the UNIX-flavored world somewhere in the Florida Panhandle, near but not home (I'm the bayou variety).

What is the replacement for Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition?

It worked fine on my XP computer but won't install on 7. Right now if I want to use it, I have to copy the photos to an external hard drive, unplug the monitor, external hard drive, mouse and keyboard cables from my 7 computer and connect them to the XP computer and boot it up, use the program, copy the pictures to the EHD again, then reverse the cable swap. It's getting old to say the least. What is a compatible version that would work on 7? An older version is fine as I rather just buy it used on Ebay anyway. And I don't want to learn a new system so it must Adobe. Would any of the Photoshop Elements 3, 4, 5, etc. work?

Installation did not work. It was originally on my main computer but that computer is not working, tried to install it on this computer and it will not work. Advised to install the EPS Parser plug-in for Adobe PhotoDelux Home Edition 3.x and Photo Delux Business Edition 1.x to ensure operation.

Yes Jeff, I am using Micosoft XP Professional version 2002 Service Pack 3; does that mean I can't use this program on this computer? What is that EPS Parser Plug-in for Adobe PhotoDelus Edition 3.x and PhotoDelux Business Edition 1.x that I was referred to in the error message? Can I get that plug-in and will it allow me to use this program?
I really like this program. I have tried Elements and others but this is the best. I don't want to give it up.

Were the Office programs suddenly not working? Or it just can’t be open after you install it? Did you get any error message?

I haven't found any other limitation in the licensing part except you should install Office on one PC at a time.
If you want to purchase 50 copies, I'm pretty sure there's no problem. But you may have to maintain 50 licence keys along with boxes and invoice, be careful and don't mess them up :)

Java crash when clicking Bookmarks Unsorted Bookmarks & APC PowerChute Business Edition in a tab

So, as the question states clicked on Unsorted Bookmarks (after adding a bunch of new bookmarks), while in a tab APC PowerChute Business Edition - Quick Status was running in the background, its a dashboard that refreshes frequently displaying status of APC connected to a server.
In this context Java froze the computer, mouse moved jerkily for 10-15 seconds then froze as well. After waiting a few minutes I was forced to hard boot the laptop. After logging back in, there was a Java error log called hs_err_pid5280.log on my desktop. Here is half of the log:

Sharing files between a Windows Vista Business edition and a Mac osx 10.6.6

Is there reliable information somewhere about how to share files from a Windows Vista business edition pc to a Mac osx 10.6.6? I have googled instructions and followed the steps and still could not have sharing to happen between the Vista pc and the Mac. These are the steps I have performed, I have made sure that
o Both the Vista pc and the Mac have the same user account/password.
o The firewall from the Vista side allows file and printer sharing in the exceptions.
o Enabled sharing with a few directories on the Vista pc.
o Changed the security policy on the Vista pc to "LM and NTLM - use NTLMV2 session security if negotiated".
o On the Mac System Preferences > Sharing selected File sharing.
On the Windows Vista pc, if I click the Start menu and then Network, the Mac does not appear. On the Mac, from the Finder menu if I click Go > Connect to server and request a connection to the IP address of that Vista pc, I get an error, "Connection Failed" (could not find pc or not available at this time).
What else do I need?

That was a great tutorial / walk through.
In fact, I would say that was far easier than the entrophy route (which is good) as you can see exactly what you are doing rather than relying on an installer which has often failed in the past for me, and then just suddenly worked for no apparent reason!
Just two things to improve it for other users, and they are really VERY minor... From previous experience, I knew where to find the php.ini.default file, but you don't let people know where to find that, and the links to the MySQL downloads were broken. I guess that is because the file names have changed or because I am coming at it from a different country. I got a message stating: 'That file does not exist on our download mirrors.'
Thanks for doing that, I really appreciate you (and the likes of David Powers) taking the time to set these tutorials up for others to use.

Any suggestions on creating a new user account please? (thinpad x61 tablet, Vista Business edition)

I would appreciate any suggestions on creating/editing the user account on my second-hand thinkpad X61 tablet (running Vista Business) edition. I bought the laptop from ebay in Germany/Austria. When I switched it on, there were no options to create or edit a username. I have completed all the updates (Lenavo and Windows). I tried the following to add a new administrative account:
1, Control Panel then selecting User Accounts. A screen appears for a second and then disappears.
2. I have also tried typing in sysdm.cpl in the command prompt,
None of the above worked, as the screen does not appear at all. I have also tried allowing the automatic updates on, that does not work either. I was wondering if this is managed by the Think Vantage system. Not sure if this is relevant, the Vista Business language was set in German and I added a language pack via Vistalizator to turn it into English.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried running the Local Users and Groups Manager (filename: LUSRMGR.MSC) to create a new user? If so, were you able to create additional accounts through it?

Business Edition 6K Solution request

I have a doubt related to a solution that I want to deploy
Here is the scenario.
My company wants to offer services...communications services, and we are thinking a lot about the price of the equipments.
So, in order to avoid the clients to buy the entire solution, we are thinking about deploy a SINGLE solution on my office, and, as we have fiber connectivity to the customers, we would ONLY deploy at their end endpoints and PoE Switches (if needed).
So we are thinking about a single appliance and it is: Business Edition 6000 that is a single UCS where all communications are integrated.
Is this solution affordable for this issue??
How we can we sepate the traffic from distinct customers?
As BE6K comes with 1000 user licenses, is it possible to do somthing like this:
From 1-100 my office
From 101-500 customer A
From 501-900 customer B
From 901-1000 customer C
And, as configure partitions and CSS's in order to avoid that they (the customers) call each other and at the end, send to them only the Billing for EXTERNAL CALLS only.
Any help on this?

Hello, I'm brand new to Postalsoft Business Edition and wondering if anyone would be as kind as to give me a call and walk me through the import process?
I've been able to import files into the software but there's got to be an easier way than having to assign fields everytime. We have dbase files that can have over 100 fields and this seems really cumbersome.

When creating a new file in Postalsoft, if the data to be used is a database (.dbf) file, browse for the file to open it in the new file as follows. Importing will not be necessary.
1. Select File > New
2. Under Document Name, enter a unique name with .mdf extension
3. Under Data File, click Browse
4. Highlight the database file (.dbf extension)
5. Click Open
6. Click Use Existing Data File
7. Click Next
8. Click Finish
Note: This option cannot be used if the data is anything other than a .dbf (database file).
This should work for you.

2. Under Troubleshoot a technical problem, click u201CCreate a message/contact technical supportu201D
3. If the "Your Recently Used Systems" box displays, click the link in the System ID and Name column that corresponds to the product with which you need assistance (Proceed with Step 5)
4. If the Your Recently Used Systems box does not display, choose a system using System Search:
    a. Select the Installation from the drop-down box that corresponds to the product with which you need assistance
    b. Click Search (A table listing one or more systems appears below the System Search box.)
    c. Click the link in the System ID column that corresponds to the product with which you need assistance
5. Enter text relating to the issue into the Search term box (This is a required step. You may get an answer to your question without having to wait for a support engineer to contact you.)
6. If you do not see any SAP Notes pertaining to your question, click Create Message.
7. Choose the correct Component for the product you are creating the message for. The component is very important as it allows the support message to be directed to the correct team. Click the icon next to the Component window to see a drop down list.
8. Expand EIM - Enterprise information management solutions. By each component the names of the products are listed. For example:
u2022 EIM-COR is used for ACE, DataRight IQ, Match/Consolidate, IACE, and FirstPrep.
u2022 EIM-COM is used for: DeskTop Mailer, Business Edition, Presort, PrintForm, Postal File Preparation, and Label Studio.
9. Enter a brief description of the issue in the Short Text box
10. Enter a detailed description of the issue in the Long Text box
11. (Optional) Attach any necessary files, by browsing for the file and clicking Upload
12. Click Send Message.
