Photographic Gallery extension

Hello all. I'm very interested in producing a portfolio
website of my work. I would classify myself a very good
photographer, but a simplistic beginner in website design and
building. Mentioning that I also have a strong design sense(pro and
con), hope to make this a winter project, and have an idea of what
I want to accomplish. What I am looking for is any recommendations
on a "gallery" extension for Dreamweaver to simplify matters. I
really do like this site:
http://www.mattnighswander.com/sitefolder/chicagoland/chi9.html
I like the simplicity of it with the attention resting either
on the image or thumbnails. I also like the thumbnails being in a
vertical format and static at the same time. I like what Image
Gallery Magic has to offer, especially the fading in and fading out
of images when changed, but the thumbnails have to be a horizontal
format and I don't like that. Is it better to have the
gallery/portfolio pages dynamic? Will the extension allow me to
make the thumbnails static and in a vertical format? Will this
extension allow me to easily omit older images and add new images
even to the extent of creating new thumbnail boxes easily at a
later date? Are there any extensions suited for my requirements? Is
there a user forum were I could ask questions(sometimes not knowing
what to ask!) and have my newbieness accepted? Is there any books
dealing with these issues in particular depth? Any advice would be
extremely appreciated.

  • Need a good Photo Gallery Extension

Setting up a photo gallery with hundreds of shots. Would like
an extension that give more choices for Dreamweaver CS3. Would like
to create pop-ups from thumbnails from a folder of photos in a
batch medthod without having to do each individually.

Here is the one I have .. you can set up a gallery in about
    10 minutes.
Using Fireworks, it will even prepare the images for you in
    the process.

  • Lightbox gallery extension - upload problems!

    Hi,
I've made a small test site in Dreamweaver CS5 with a photo gallery in a Lightbox extension ( that I've added from Dreamweaver extensions ). Everything looks and works the way I want it to in Dreamweaver Safari preview...but as soon as I upload my test site, the Lightbox Gallery doesn't work anymore. I asked my webhotel support for help, but they say that I should contact the developer for an answer ???
I'm thinking that it must a very common problem, does anyone have a clue what the problem could be?
( My webhotel is an  advanced LINUX server ...as if I knew what that means ;-)
    Thanks and Merry Christmas !

    You have:
    <a href="nyhavn.jpg" title="Nyhavn, heritage harbour and a popular
place to go for dinner or a drink.">
    <img src="nyhavn_s.jpg" width="72" height="73" alt="" /> </a>
Are you not supposed to have   rel="lightbox" added to it? Such as
    <a href="nyhavn.jpg" title="Nyhavn, heritage harbour and a popular
place to go for dinner or a drink.">
    <img src="nyhavn_s.jpg" rel="lightbox" width="72" height="73" alt="" /> </a>
On closer inspection, if you look at your  "scripts/lightbox.js"
It is not a js file at all, it is an html file....what happened to your original js file?

  • Thumbnail Gallery Extension

    Hi all,
please excuse my ignorance regarding coding as I am a beginner when it comes to coding and generally use Dreamweaver on a WYSIWYG basis.
I am looking to integrate an image gallery for a portfolio page similar to the image swap behaviour found on this site, with thumbnails swapping the main image.
    http://www.west8.nl/projects/public_space/aegon_plein/
I have been able to get a general imageswap behaviour linking to individual thumbs working, but the transitions arent very smooth and there is no option to highlight the currently selected thumbnail as per the above site.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any type of DW extension that is available to create the example shown as I am not familiar with code in the slightest.. Or if anyone has any hints with regards to what Javascript was used on the page so I can have a look at how to integrate it.
    Many thanks in advance

There is no DW extension for what you are thinking of.  That website uses JS that is available free of charge from this link:
    <http://mootools.net/download>
However, there are many such scripts on the web and you just need to search for them.  They are all free to use in your project.

  • Using thickbox-gallery extension in DWCS6 for webpages sliced in fireworks CS5

After designing my webpages in Fireworks CS5, I have exported them into Dream weaver CS6 but I can't seem to place the "thickbox" extension for my gallery in an aligned manner. in order words it has refused to position itself horizontally from left to right of my page.
Please can anyone help me in this regards.
Thank you so much in anticipation.

Thank you @Ken for your info, Thank you Nancy for your info too, please how do I install the fancybox add on which you suggested into Dreamweaver?
Meanwhile I'm happy to inform you that I figured out a way to solve the problem I reported here. The process is as follows:-
When you add the "thickbox" gallery and you want to make it align horizontally from the left to the right. First off, select the "gallery" (usually the 2 default thumb nails/galleries) you added,  simply go to your "CSS Styles" panel and under "Current" tab. Add the "Display" property and then on the right, change its attribute from anything it is to "inline". At the instance, the "thickbox" gallery changes alignment in a landscape manner and positions itself from left to right. You could also try out other possible "attributes" of "Display" to see the one that could also give you what you want or same result. Once you're happy, you could go ahead to swap your thumbnail images and populating your galleries.
It took quite some time to discover this.
Thank you once again everyone for the effort.

  • Photo gallery with thumbnail and caption

    Hi,
am looking for a good photo gallery extention or application with thumbnails and captions, preferbly free or willing to pay for good working application, please help - would like to incorporate into website gallery page
    thank you

    hello,
There is a web photo gallery extension called:
Web Photo Album 2.1 for Dreamweaver MX
You will need a copy of Fireworks to run it though.
Sometimes, I use Photoshop's automate web galelry and then use that file inside of my site.
If have to incorporate it into an existing page, I just copy and paste the code.

  • Flash Image Gallery

I purchased the Flash Image Gallery Extension. Installed and
    created several beautiful working galleries.
In my image gallery (link below) there are Category titles
176, 186, etc.. When you click the titles it changes the thumbnail
pictures, while the main image remains the same.
Question: I'd like to click on a Category Title and have the
Main Fullsize image change as well. This would help visually to see
that you have in fact changed to a new category. As it is now, it
is not evident that you've changed category. You have to go to the
    tn images and click there.
Can you give me some direction on how accomplish this?
Perhaps a behavior - when category title is clicked on the main
image will appear for that category? Seems like a simple edit. Can
I do such an edit on a purchased gallery template file extension?
New to flash, quite familiar with DW CS3. Below is a link to
    my gallery:
    My
    Gallery Link

    Hi
These can be linked together - it will need you to change the
destination of the 'Front Page' link (URL) to point to the
appropriate 'Gallery', in the XML you can identify sections by
using the same 'Gallery Id' from the link (URL) in the 'Front
    Page'.
Does that make sense?, if you need more help then let me
    know

  • Cannot install extension in Dreamweaver CS3

I just purchased an image gallery extension from the exchange. The instructions say that I need to run the extension manager to install it. When I do it I get an error message saying:
"This extension cannot be installed, it requires Dreamweaver 7 or greater. To install the extension, please try to install Dreamweaver CS4 or use Adobe Extension Manager CS3 which works with Adobe CS3 and earlier products."
I've tried to find Adobe Extension Manager CS3 but only can find CS4 which is already installed in my PC
    Thanks for your help
    George

The cs3 extension manager is on your cs3 disk.
You could also try right clicking on the extension manager in the start menu and selecting, 'run as administrator'.

  • Captivate 5 swf gallery animations looping e.g. wrong mark

Hi,  I have used the wrong and correct marks from the Captivate swf animations gallery extensively in a Captivate 4 project.  I have upgraded the project and now these animations loop rather than stop once the mark is drawn.  I tried replacing them with the swf files in the Captivate 5 gallery and they have the same problem.  They are still Actionscript 2... so perhaps that is the problem?  The 'loop' checkbox in the Captivate Properties is shaded out.
Does anyone know of a fix this this?
    Thankyou.

    Hi,
So, do you mean if you use the "Wrong Mark.swf" from the following location, even that does not help:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\Gallery\SWF Animation\Others
    Thanks,

  • Flash gallery site - two gallery malfunction?

    Hello all!
Just wanted to run this by some flash pros out there. I have a flash photograph gallery but two of the galleries for some reason are not "functioning".
    Please go to http://photography.khangp.com.
When it opens, you will see "Portrait" and "Product" on top along with other galleries. But these two are the only ones that are not working.
In a local environment, they are functioning as they should but not on the web. I have no idea what is causing this.  I thought maybe it had something to do with the XML file but I've gone over it a dozen times and everything checks out! Again, the same gallery functions fully in a local environment but I don't know what is up with these two in particular.
I would appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this.  By the way, I know almost nothing about flash and this was simply a template that I bought.
    Thanks!

  • Freeware Java web gallery software released

    December 2, 2002
I'm pleased to announce that version 1.0 of B*Gallery has been
              released at http://www.brianyoung.net/b-gallery
B*Gallery is a web photo gallery solution based on Java 2, Java Server
Pages and XML technologies. The server component easily plugs in to
your existing web site running on a J2EE-compliant server. A client
application allows for complete gallery management. B*Gallery is
designed to attain a level of flexibility and ease of use that cannot
be reached by solutions which merely generate static HTML pages.
B*Gallery can harvest a photo's Exif data, which is the extended
information written to JPEG files by digital cameras. Panoramic
images created with photo stitching applications are handled
intelligently and automatically by the gallery. Also, a useful file
renaming feature is included to turn generic filenames produced by
digital cameras into meaningful names based on data elements like the
date and time the photo was taken.
Visit http://www.brianyoung.net/b-gallery to view a sample gallery and
download an installer for Linux or Windows.
              Brian W. Young

The ability to produce web galleries is not a central function of LR and as you say there is better software around if this is your main requirement. The limit of 500 can  be over written, usually in the galleryInfo.lrweb file for a gallery, the line is maximumGallerySize = xxxx , but the web gallery generation is designed for professional photographers to create quick galleries for client usage...500 images would be more than enough for the vast majority of users! It is after all, more photographs than on display in the National Photographic Gallery.
As far as the different sizes of images go, this is really dependent on which particular galleries you choose to use (or create for yourself is you wish). The sizes you mention may be the ones that come pre installed with LR (I have never used these so don't know) but there are hundreds of other available, some free, some paid for, or create your own.
The copyright is a small text marking and in relation to any sensible size likely to be used on the web works perfectly fine. If you want to actually watermark an image, rather than just a simple text label, then you require LR2/ Mogrify plug in with LR 2 or use LR 3 Beta which does this natively as part of the export process.
By the way, LR runs perfectly well as a 62 bit application. You may well be missing something...particularity if "every time you click a mouse it redoes every single image you have loaded" as this is not a problem that I associate with LR on systems with far less power than yours.

  • Gallery image disappears when not hovering

I am adding a thumbnail scroller to my image gallery. Here's
the site I am cutting from:
