Sure you can if you have the Retail Version of 10.8 Just remember yo use the Black Apple Upper Left and use the Software Update.  Check you nearst Apple Retailer for the 10.8   I think they are still available.

  • I just bought a new MacBook Pro and it came with the old operating system, how do I upgrade it to the latest one without having to purchase it?

    Hi,
Im a new Mac user. I currently just bought a new MacBook Pro. The first computer I got apparently had a problem with the flex, so I had to go change it for a new one. The first one had the latest operating system, the second one the store gave me didn't, yet it's still a brand new computer, so I don't see why I should have to pay for the new operating system, which should already come with my brand new computer. So I am trying to contact apple so they may give me permission to download it from the app store for free, due to this inconvenience and first bad experience. The vendor tells me that sometimes new computers may come with old operating systems because they're from an old batch of new computers. Oh and by the way, I'm from Honduras, and bought it at Jetstereo, in Tegucigalpa (the capital). This store is a licensed distributor.
    Hope someone can help me,

  • HT5624 I don't want Icloud.  I believe it drains the battery of my phone.  How do I get the old operating system back on my new iphone 4G?

I just got a new upgrade iphone from a 3G to 4G.  My son updated the software with Icloud.  I do not like it, it drains my battery.  How do I get the old operating system back (without icloud).  Also, I don't know how to close an APP anymore and I think that could be draining my battery as well.  It doesn't work the same way when I doubled click and then touch the APP it doesn't give me a dash to close it up again.

Apple does not support downgrading the iOS.
As for icloud, go to   Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account.
    As for battery drain...
    Look through this...
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/19/ios-7-battery-life-fix/
Also, Settings>General>Background App Refresh:   turn off apps you don't want refreshing data - this can preserve battery life.
Also try a reboot:  press and hold the home and power buttons until the Apple icon is displayed, then let go.

  • Want old operating system back

I have an iPad 2., which I have loved. Caused me to switch over to all Apple products. I foolishly updated to iOS 8.0.2, and have encountered constant frustrations ever since. I tried to go back to iOS 7, but it is no longer available. From what I understand, I can pay to get this.  Very frustrated with Apple.  Why should I have to pay to fix a problem they created?  Thinking so switching back to Android if this is the post Steve Jobs way of doing business. Any ideas on how to go back to old operating system withou having to pay for it?

Whoever told you you needed to pay to go back is mistaken. There is no supported way to roll back iOS updates. There never has been even if you pay.
If you are having issues with iOS 8 what have you attempted to try to fix them?
Try these basic troubleshooting steps if you haven't already:
    1. Reset the iPad.  Hold down the home and power/sleep buttons until the Apple Logo shows up.
If this does not solve the issues:
    2. Reset Settings.  Settings->General->Reset->Reset all Settings. The iPad Should reboot.
If this still does not fix the issues
    3. Restore the iPad to Factory Condition. This should refresh the iOS installation and is known to clear out many bugs and glitches.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

    What is your new System?

    How did you install it?
I don't know if you can see what's on my screen, but I definitely can't see what's on yours.

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

There is no difference, you didnt get "shorted" Mavericks is a FREE DOWNLOAD
Open the APP store and download Mavericks.
You didnt buy a "clearance" item, you just got an Air that was there at the shop before Mavericks was released.
There is no difference other than a 40 min. download.

  • What's the go with this latest update. Half my apps don't work and the iPad runs slower? How do I go back to the old operating system?

What's the go with this latest update. Half my apps don't work and the iPad runs slower? How do I go back to the old operating system?

Make sure your apps are updated.  You might try Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads - Updates = "On".
You cannot go back to an old operating system.

  • Running older software on "modern" operating systems

My computer was deemed capable of running a "modern" operating system, so I upgraded. Now, most of the older CAD/CAE applications I need to use on an almost-daily refuse to be installed. How do I run this software on my new, modern operating
system? Using the XP VM is not a workable solution...

We need a ton more information on the CAD/CAE apps before we can even venture a guess.  Are they 16 bit? What was your old OS, what version of win 7 is you new os, ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC....

    Hi,
All you need to do is reinstall your original Operating System using your set of Recovery Discs - the procedure is described in the HP document on the following link.

  • New MacBook Air with old operating system.

    Hi,
I just bought a new MacBook Air from an authorized dealer and I noticed that the operating system is the old OS X.. Isn't it too old to be offered on a new Mac? What am I missing here?

Apple gives their OS X versions big cat names, but they all fall under the OS X category.  The names make it a little easier for the public to identify them.  10.5 was Leopard, 10.6 was Snow Leopard, 10.7 is Lion, and the recently announced Snow Leopard will be 10.8.  Apple will also, from time to time, issue small updates within each version via Software Update.  These updates will be tacked on at the end of the version number.  The initial release of Lion was 10.7... it was then updated to 10.7.1, 10.7.2, and then 10.7.3.

  • Updating an old operating system

I can't update my iphone on my old macbook.  I was told at the genius bar its because my operating system is too old, I have 10.5.  How can I update my operating system?

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Other countries...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

  • Filter problem with operating system in french

    Hello,
There is a problem with the "Operating System - Windows" filter in the french version of ZCC.
If you create a bundle and go into "Requirements" and add a filter with Operating system and you set it to "Version 6.1 - Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2" you get this error
"Vos modifications ne peuvent pas tre appliques pour les raisons suivantes :
ErreurLa version doit tre sous la forme "x" "x.x.x.x". "
"You changes cannot be applied for the following reason : formatting must be x to x.x.x.x"
    The format should be "6.1 - Windows 7 /Windows Server 2008 R2 Versions".
The filter does work as intended with the english versions of ZCC. I have no problem with that but some of our admin does.
PS : I am currently unable to open an SR because our licence has not been renewed yet. So i am reporting this here.
    Thank you!

    1.Go to Server machine.
    On Windows:
    Go to
    %ZENWORKS_HOME%\resources\properties\com\novell\ze nworks\core\web\internal\resources\CoreInternal_fr .proeprties
    On Linux:
    Go to
    /opt/novell/zenworks/resources/properties\com/novell/zenworks/core/web/internal/resources/CoreInternal_fr.proeprties
    2.change the property value of windows.versions.6.1 from "Versions 6.1 Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2" to "6.1 Versions Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008R2"
3.Then Restart the server. The issue will be gone.
By the way you will see this bug reappear with every new update of ZENworks including new service packs and monthly updates. So keep this workaround at hand just in case.
    Hope it helps!

In 11.3 the value seems to be:
    windows.versions.6.1=Versions 6.1 - Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2
But should probably be set to:
    windows.versions.6.1=6.1 - Versions Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2
And the correct Linux path would be: /opt/novell/zenworks/resources/properties/com/novell/zenworks/core/web/internal/resources/CoreInternal_fr.properties.
This bug would probably take them a minute or two to fix, sad to hear that it's been there since 11.
