Photomerge Crashing (CS3)

I am trying to stitch a small panorama in CS3 from 4 16b ProPhoto RGB TIFs. The TIFs are simply four shots which should combined into one long horizontal shot. Unfortunately, if I merge to panorama from LR2 or just from TIFs exported from LR2, then PS3 crashes after working for about 4min or so.
I'm tempted to buy ptgui since it handles them fine and I've encountered this problem with photomerge with a number of panos I've tried to stitch. Does anyone have any advice about how I could prevent these crashes?
Thanks!

I ended up upgrading to PTgui which turns out to be much faster and completely reliable, though a bit pricey considering I was expecting Photomerge to already work. That said, it offers much more precise control in a very unobtrusive way so in the long run it was probably a good way to go.

  • Photomerge crashing in CS5, 64 bit

    Hello all.
I've seen recent posts about Photomerge crashing, I tried all the workarounds and remedies to no success. I run as Admin and still crashes, and only Photomerge is causing to crash. All other presets and automates are working just fine. I've deleted all Temp files and App Data, still nothing.
    My stats are:
    Windows 7 Professional
    Intel i7 vPro (2860Qm @ 2.5GHz)
    16GB Ram
Nvidia Quadro 2000M (lastest drivers, 266.96)
Scratch disk is 200GB and I'm using about 9GB of Ram
So I don't think it's my computer that's the problem, but either the javascript file for the automate or possible update? Any idea on what else I should check?
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • Elements 9's PhotoMerge crashes with Mac OS 10.9.2

In attempting to use any sort of PhotoMerge functions in PS Elements 9 on my Mac results in the program immediately crashing, regardless of what I attempt to do. I have successfully used PhotoMerge, but never had this happen before -- until now, after attempting to use it with Mac OS 10.9.2. All my software is up to date, and I have tried every variation on a theme to get this to work, but to no avail. It fails and crashes repeatedly and instanteously, the second I click on, and attempt to move, a photo from the project bin to the "Final" window for use as the base image. Has anyone else had this problem? It is infuriating.

    Barbara:
No, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth; it just seems that way.  Sorry about that. I'm afraid that actual work came up, and I have been sidetracked with it until this evening.
Anyway, I wasn't sure how to go about creating a new admin user, as per your suggestion, so I went back into PSE to see if somehow something had miraculously changed. And, lo and behold, it had: This time PSE allowed me to move a photo to the "Final" window to use as a base image without a hitch. But only once. The next time I tried it, it failed again. But being thick-headed, I tried again once more and it worked. And it continues to work -- knock wood. I cannot explain what happened or why it changed, but that's where it stands at the moment.
Thank you for your help and advice. I might have to seek it again if this quirk reappears. Thanks very much again.

  • Crashing CS3 after MacData delete and Bridge Rest? FW EOF error?

    Hi folks,
I am running into 3 perhaps related problems with my CS3
    suite.
I was trying to install an extension but kept getting errors,
    so I was
advised by Web Assist to delete the MacData Cache in the
    User/Configuration
    folder.
I was also having a problem with Bridge not starting up,
    which I fixed by
starting with the option key down and clearing thumbs and
    something else
    (the middle option).
I am also having problems with FW CS3 saying that it cannot
    render a file
because the file is already open in another application. The
    only
application the file is in is in Dreamweaver pages where I
    just clicked the
Edit button on the Properties panel.
What happens when I open Photoshop, I get the error saying
    that I cannot use
the clipboard because an unexpected end of file has occurred,
    so I think FW
    is screwing up big time.
However, the reason I'm writing is that after deleting my
    cache, I'm
noticing DW do 3 weird things>
    1. Pressing command F does not open the find dialog box
    consistently.
    2. After editing a page using Behaviors Panel items, the page
    becomes
unresponsive to the cursor and will not let me select items
    until I click
out of DW and then back into DW. In addition, DW seems slow
    to apply changes
to the pages made in Design view using linking in the
    properties panel.
    3. DW is crashing a lot, and it only used to do that about
    once a day.
    Any help appreciated.

Thank you for the sympathy and the information about the Adobe.com forum Michael.
I posted here because, to be honest, for a company that's acknowledged their installers and updaters and support needs some work, they seem very determined to obfuscate the means by which users can provide direct feedback to the company. Much like you, I've also noticed a trend in CS5 installations that mirrors the issues that were present in CS4. it's a sad state of affairs.
As for my installation, you are also quite right to say that a clean install would have been a lot faster than what I went through with TS and it was actually my first idea. Before calling TS I'd actually read through the forums and noticed that a large number of users who were faced with my situation had no other choice but to reformat. I was just giving Adobe the benefit of the doubt and wasted 2 and a half weeks through that course of action...
What makes this situation even more frustrating is that the installer failed on a fresh system. It was a custom-built design machine, assembled and configured by myself. The only software that had been installed on it prior to Design Premium was Firefox, an FTP client and the start of my problems, trial versions of various CS4 programs. I used trials just long enough to retire the previous design computer so that I wouldn't contravene the EULA's stipulation of not running more than one instance of software at the same time on different machines.  Turns out being honest once again penalised a legal customer.
If there is just thing users should learn from my far from unique tale of failed tech support it's that if you ever run into a problem with the installation, don't bother calling TS, just reformat and start from scratch.  It might seem like it'll take longer to get going again, but in actuality, it's the opposite. Reformatting means you'll be up and running in about 1 or 2 days rather than 2 weeks.

  • DW 8 site crashes CS3

A while back I designed a .php / MySQL site in DW8. The site
    included DW8
add, edit, and delete server behaviors.
    I've since upgraded to CS3
Today I was called on to edit the site. When I tried to open
    any page that
contained the add, edit or delete server behavior CS3
    crashes. The rest of
the pages open fine in CS3.
If I go on-line all of the pages work fine and there is no
    problem using
them. I can open them in DW8 but not CS3.
Any ideas as to the problem?
    Jeff

Worked like a charm.... Thank you Alan
So, Does this mean that I will now have to delete the
    "WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat" file twice a year?
I guess its a small annoyance for such a essential app.

  • Photomerge in CS3 - how to please!

I have Photoshop CS3 and want to photomerge a couple of images with changes. I have tried the trial version in Elements and found it quite easy and user friendly. However I cannot achieve the same in CS3 and would like some instruction. Can anyone direct me to the appropriate page to get a step by step guide please.
    Many thanks.

In Elements you can use two images very similar, as in a group photo, and then correct by selective drawing around parts of one image, that can be modified to make a more perfect final shot. In other words you are taking the best bits of each to make a more acceptable result. This is quite simple to do in Elements but I wonder as CS3 is the big brother, can you do the same? I wish ....

Fair enough.  Something's changed on your system, then.
Things that can cause Photoshop to fail:
Newly installed 3rd party plug-in, but which is incompatible or has a problem.
    Newly installed font.
Newly installed driver (e.g., for the display, by Windows Update).
    Corrupted preferences.
You should know if you installed a plug-in or font, and if a driver update caused the problem you can usually get a better driver from the web site of the maker of your display adapter (video card).
To reset Photoshop's preferences to defaults, you can press and hold Control-Shift-Alt immediately after starting Photoshop from its menu entry or shortcut.  You have to be quick.  Keep in mind you'll have to reconfigure a lot of things again if you've changed them from defaults.

  • Text Area Crashes CS3

    Hi Guys
Odd one for you here... Whenever i insert a text area into
the table here beside "comments" it crashes DW CS3 totally.
I have rebuilt the page several times and it's the same
thing.... I've googled it and got nothing. It's really odd. The
other form elements are all fine. Only the text area seems to be
    doing the damage:
    http://www.tragicallyunhip.net/contact.asp
I'm not expecting an answer, really, I'm sure it's a one in a
million thing to happen, but you never know. It's DW CS 3 on Vista,
and been perfect up till now.
    Thanks
    Andy
UPDATE: I just tried inserting a third text box and all was
fine until I made it multi-line, then it crashed....It doe NOT
crash if I place a text area on a blank page...Or repeat the page
layout on an shtm file like here:

  • Photomerge crashing Photoshop CS5

Everytime I attempt to open Photomerge, whether it's through Bridge or Photomerge, Photoshop crashes.  Everything else within Photoshop seems to be working fine. I've seen where others are having this issue, but I couldn't find if there was a fix.

Also I seem to be having troubles with the updating software stalling out.
Any help on CS5 crashing and the solution would be greatly appeciated!

  • Why is Photomerge crashing?

I have been using Photoshop CC with no problems but now I get an error message ("Windows does not have a constructor") or else PS crashes whenever I try to use Photomerge from either LR5 or Bridge. Trying to manually Auto-Align Layers if I stack the images doesn't work either. I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit. Restarting hasn't helped, nor has resetting preferences. I'd prefer not to delete and re-download PS CC due to slow DSL. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Photomerge is a Photoshop Script (javascript) and ("Windows does not have a constructor")  may be a scripting error message. Are you having problems with other Photoshop script? like (Conditional Mode Change, ContactSheetII, Delete All Empty Layers, Export Layers to Files, ExportColorLookupTables, Fit Image, Flatten All Layer Effects, Flatten All Masks, generate, Image Processor, Layer Comps To Files, Layer Comps To PDF, Lens Correct, Load DICOM, Load Files into Stack, Merge To HDR, Script Events Manager or Statistics)?  Photoshop uses its own ScriptingSupport Plug-in.

  • Using "command open" has begun to crash CS3

Has anyone else suddenly started to experience this? I can open files by double clicking the file in the Finder, but trying to use the Open command in Photoshop CS3 cause it to crash. I am running 10.10.3 Yosemite. I think it must have something to do with Java, though I downloaded the version needed when I first installed Yosemite.

No, it has to do with bugs in MacOS 10.10. Apple added a new bug in the OS open dialog in 10.10.3 that appears to be affecting some older versions of Photoshop - but we don't know the full details of the OS change yet.

  • Crashing CS3

    Hi
I have Adobe Web Premium CS3 and InDesign CS3.  I'm running them on a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.6.3
About a week ago it started. Every time I try to launch any of the CS3 applications, they crash on startup. None of them run at all. I uninstalled everything and re-installed.  No luck.  I wiped the hard drive, re-installed the operating system and all of the applications... The CS3 applications worked for one day.
Since the problem is the same with ALL of my CS3 applications, I tried the Adobe License Recovery application.  What after running that, my CS3 applications request my CD serial numbers.  After I entered those numbers, the applications crash immediately. So I'm back where I've started... No running Adobe apps.
I am at a loss as to how to get these applications up and running again. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    I found a solution.
In another post in this forum there was a discussion about some CS4 applications not running under Snow Leopard.   I formed a theory that the reason CS3 quit running on my machine was a software update on Mac OSX.
So I re-installed OSX Snow Leopard.  This changed my machine from running on version 10.6.3 to version 10.6.  Thus I'm running without the updates that Apple has added to Snow Leopard since it's release.
Now my CS3 applications are up and running.  SHEESH....
    See this page:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/512/cpsid_51215.html
Adobe should add a note on page that CS3 simply does not run on Mac OSX 10.6.3... that is to say Snow Leopard with the latest updates.

  • Photomerge crashes CS 5

When using Photoshop CS5 to create a photomerge to panorama Photoshop crashes.  If I use the Intel video driver it does not crash.
    Dell XPS
    8 GB ram
    640 GB drive
    GeForce GT550m

I am dealing with the same issue on my Dell XPS 15.
Photomerge doesn't even start with just Photoshop opened (no images), it crashes straight away...
What I managed to do, is to start Photoshop using Intel card (right click on Photoshop in Start menu) instead of using NVidia..... and it's working!
Very interesting as NVidia is supposed to be a high-end card...

  • Photomerge in CS3 and CS6

I run two versions of Photoshop on an old and a new Mac. Ihave some photos intended for a panorama, not very well matched - but in CS3 I easily get a very convincing panoramic merge, working largely by hand, it's true.
In CS6 I can't persuade it even to put the photos in a horizontal line, in puts them one above the other and doesn't make any links.
I can't see how to persusde CS6 to help me merge them by hand.
In this task, CS3 seems greatly superior to CS6 - or am I missing something?
I'd be very grateful for your help,
    Jamie.

Yes, this stuff has been rewritten in CS5 and ever since is less cooperative for many people. Nobody really knows why. Perhaps you can search the main forum for some guidance... One of the tips is to convert to anotehr image format, which often resolves the problem, even if technically the pixel data is still the same... Also metadata seems to be at play, so try to remove it.

  • CS5 Photomerge crashes

I'm using Windows 7, with 12GB's of RAM. Had same issue on my Vista, though my RAM was failing, and I thought that may have been the issue. 7 laptop is brand new, and new install of CS5. Photomerge goes through the motions, you see the photos it's working on in the right window, and then they all disappear, and there's no final photo.
If Adobe won't issue a fix/repair, is there something else I can do to attain the same results?
