Photomerge exposure final is blurry

I've taken some photos bracketing from -1 to +1 (hold the shutter and it takes 3 photos) when I use photomerge exposure the final photo is blurry.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
That worked.

You may get better results by posting your issue in the photoshop elements forum instead of here.
With that said, When you open the raw image zoom in and verify that the image is sharp, do the same for each additional image for the merge.
I am assuming the merge will create three or how ever many layers (one for each image you selected) , There should be an eyeball or similar icon for each layer to hide the layers from view.
leave only two layers visible, then on one of the layers change the blend mode to difference, (should be top layer) If the two layers are correctly lined up you should see a black image. If they are not lined up you should see a weird color outline of the image. Moving the image until you get a pure black image will mean they are lined up. Change the top layer back to normal blend, hide it then do the next two layers, etc until you are done.
If anything moved while you shot your pictures that will show up as a difference, if everything else exept that portion of the image is black then your image is aligned.
I hope that makes sense. Whether you can do all the above or not, I don't know since I do not have elements.
Good luck

  • No controls in Photomerge exposure?

    I am on the trial of Elements 9 for Mac, and I'm trying out the Photomerge Exposure thing.  I have converted 3 CR2 files to 8 bit .tiffs in LR3 and opened them in PSE9.  I then select them all from the project bin, and click New...Photomerge Exposure.  PSE9 does some thinking, and creates an image, but the only tools I have available are zoom and hand, there are absolutely NO tools in the left panel (under edit, create, share).  I then have to force quit in order to cancel the merge, because if I close down PSE9, it starts to render a new tiff of the new default HDR image.
    Reading the help files, there should be some stuff here, is that correct?
    Is this feature disabled during trial mode?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    When you do a photomerge exposure, pse9 switches to a screen
    much like guided edit, except on the right there should be a panel
    that says Photomerge Exposure with some sliders and settings to adjust.
    (each adjustment you make previews on the screen)
    When you have made your adjustments and are ready for the final output,
    press Done at the bottom right. The render could take a few minutes sometimes.
    After the photomerge exposure completes, elements should return to the
    full edit screen with all your tools etc.

  • Photomerge Exposure for Elements 11

    I have had no success generating a new photo with Photomerge.  I would go through the steps of finalizing a picture, but when I click done it is as if nothing ever happend, and no new file is generated.  I tried this on two different computers with Elements 11with no success.  I am further frustrated that their is no phone number I can call to receive help since this was a time based project and needed to be done in that fashion.  Since we were unable to use Photoshop, it forces us to use a different source all together.  I have been very upset with how difficult photoshop is to use even though I have done in depth research on how to use the program.  I have seen that other people are having the same problems, but there was no solution that worked for me.  It seems this one is on Adobe to fix and maintain.

    First, I missed entirely that your problem was with Photomerge Exposure - most PhotoMerge questions here are about PhotoMerge Panorama and that was my immediate response . Overlaps are important in Panorama.
    Second, PhotoMerge Exposure is best on identical images with different exposures (e..g landscapes from a tripod mounted camera). From your description I think what you want is PhotoMerge Group Shot, that helps you take the best bits from multiple images to create a composite.
    Sorry to have misled you.

  • Problem with Photomerge Exposure, Photoshop Elements 13?

    Problem with Photomerge Exposure, Photoshop Elements 13?. Why does Photomerge Exposure not give me a finished DONE photo. If I open 2 photos, it will merge then, and when I press DONE I get a new photo file that I can save. However, if I open 3 photos, and go through the same process, the software analyzes the photos, I get a new image, BUT when I press DONE, the new image vanishes???? I can open the same 3 photos in Elements 8 and it works fine. any ideas please.

    I, too, am having problems in version 11 with Photomerge Exposure.  I can merge the 3 photos successfully with version 10.  In version 11 when I click done, I am taken back to the Expert mode of the Editor but the merged photo in the photo bin is not accessible.  When I first return to the editor, one of the original images (before merge) is selected.  When I double/click on the merged photo it doesn't become the active image.  In fact, any image I double click on momentarily becomes the active image and then jumps to another one.
    The merged photo is visible in the photo bin but I can't select it.
    I am running version 11 on my MacBook running OS 10.6.8

  • Problem with photomerge exposure

    I am trying out the trial version of PSE 8.  When I try to use photoexposure merge, the program will merge the two photos perfectly, but when I click the Done button, I get a Runtime error box saying the program has to close.  This has happened twice with the exposure merge, but did not happen with group picture merge (although the group merge failed to merge the pictures twice when I clicked done, then succeeded the third time I tried).  I am using Windows XP.
    Thanks, Terry

    Rebooting worked; thanks again for the suggestion.  Being new to the forums, I cannot figure out how to indicate on the discusson web page that my question has been answered.

    Photomerge Exposure has a bug with images larger than 10 megapixels, but yours are smaller than that.  The known symptoms are different too (the automatic alignment fails), but with bugs, you never know.
    Have you tried rebooting your machine?  Photomerge Panorama sometimes behaves erratically and rebooting sometimes appears to make the erratic behavior go away.

  • Photomerge: no final image after 10.6.7 with Nvidia Quadro 4000

    Hi, as it was stated in similar thread I have this issue. / http://forums.adobe.com/thread/852821?tstart=0 /
    But in tha threat mentioned above, problem was solved:
    "3. May 18, 2011 3:50 PM in response to: Chris Cox
    Re: Photomerge Crashes
    I think the problem was that there was an "ñ" in the file names. Now it works!"
    My file names are: _MG_7975_1z3.psd
    So probably it is not a problem with the name. I have:
      Model Name: Mac Pro
      Model Identifier: MacPro4,1
      Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed: 2.93 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 2
      Total Number Of Cores: 8
      Memory: 20 GB
    with Nvidia Quadro 4000 installed.
    After I downloaded 10.6.7 I had a problem with my graphic card, new mac OS version erased something but I solved it when I found on Nvidia forum solution and downloaded new Nvidia 4000 drivers. But help me now with new problem: photomerge - no final image. I have a huge project with extensive using of that tool. Thanks in advance!

    I think that it is the answer:

  • How many images in Photomerge Exposure

    What is the limit on the number of photos that can be used in Elements 11 or 12 in Photomerge Exposure?
    Mary Lou

    It depends on the lighting conditions.
    What is more relevant than number of images is camera settings e.g. plus or minus one or two stops.
    In most cases I never need more than three images.

  • Photomerge Exposure alignment in Elements 12 not working!

    I recently purchased Elements 12, specifically for the ease of the Photomerge Exposure function.  To my dismay, even tripod bracketed shots (+2, 0, -2) don't line up automatically (aperature priority in all three shots).  When I try to manually align the shots using the three point functionality, I click "align" and then "done" and nothing happens - the resulting image vanishes.  Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

    can you try again with after resetting your preferences. Ideally, if your images are shot without flash, they should come up in the automatic mode where you can easily controle the contrast and saturation of the image.
    Can you also please let us know about the file type of the image. I believe you must be using raw files. In that case, please let us know the camera model too.

  • Photomerge Exposure Problem.

    Hi, to take a photo of a room, and the view through its window, and ensure they are both correctly exposed, Im having problems in Photoshop Elements 10. When I press Done to complete the task the colour of the room walls etc all look badly colour smudged. Ive tried several times to no avail.

    I think that bug probably had to do more with some kind of exif data that pse 8 didn't like, as John mentions, rather than the actual file size.
    (they seemed to have fixed that issue in pse 10 from experimenting with the sample images in the link you posted)
    As an experiment i used three 25 mp images (6144x4085 pixel dimensions each image) in pse 8 in both photomerge panorama and photomerge exposure and
    it seemed to work ok, so maybe your either running up against the exif data bug or if your using camera raw images they may be set to output in 16 bits/channel
    which elements doesn't like. Of course ram and the amount of scratch disk you have available can also be factors.

  • PhotoMerge Exposure Alignment Problem in PSE8

    Hi,
    I've read that PSE8 has a problem with aligning photos larger than 10MP using the PhotoMerge Exposure feature.
    Does anyone know if this problem has been resolved in PSE10?
    Reducing the photos seems to help but this is very time-consuming and takes lots of disk space.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Quickest way to trim/resize after a Photomerge Exposure?

    Doing a Photomerge Exposure leaves margins where the images don't overlap 100%.
    I can do a Free Transform and stretch the image slightly to get rid of those margins (don't want to chang the image size), but perhaps there is a more convenient and automatic way to accomplish this?

    I had a problem similar. For this i created a metod that generate the html code in the String using the variables.
    For example:
    public class HTMLCreator
          private String name;
          private String html;
          public HTMLCreator()
               name = " ";
          public void HTMLCreate()
                html = "<head>" +
                             "<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;  charset=iso-8859-1\" /> " +
                             "<title> Hello World HTML</title>" +
                             "</head>" +
                             "<body>" +
                             "Hello World: <strong>" + name +
                             "</strong>" +
                            "</body>" +
                            "</html>";
                    // You can create the .html file here too
          public String getName()
               return name;
          public void setName(String name)
                this.name = name;
    }Thats it!

  • Photomerge: no final image

    I am running CS5 and CS4 on a mac OS X 10.6.7 with 147Gb of available memory. Photomerge crashes even trying a 2 picture panorama, so I don't think it is a memory issue, and it happens with both CS5 and CS4. The whole application does not crash, it's just Photomerge. After selecting the files and clicking OK, everything seems to go smoothly, until it ends "generating output panorama". At this point, when it has to display the panorama, nothing happens, and the layers from the pictures selected disappear, as if nothing had happened.

    Hi Chris,
    you're right, I guess it's not a crash, but just a "no result". I just installed all updates, but I am still having the same problem. And I am experiencing exactly the same problem with CS4, even though three months ago I had no problem creating panoramas with it. Could it be that an OS X update may be interfering with Photoshop?

  • Final output of Final Cut Express HD 3.5 is blurry and out of focus.

    Using clear/sharp '.mov' files as clips. Doing simple editing, nothing fancy. When I finally output the project using 'Export/Using QuickTime Conversion,' the final is blurry and out of focus. I've tried every compression type (H264, Animation, etc.). Same problem. Anyone know why this is happening?
    Although the specs for my computer are well within the Final Cut Express guidelines (I've even upgraded my graphics card to a Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB), I'm still thinking that perhaps the G4 I'm using doesn't have enough juice to run the FCE software. By the way, I don't have any other programs active when using FCE. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for your response.
    Here's what I'm (trying) to do:
    I'm creating short 5 minute tutorial movies that will be distributed as QuickTime movies (burned to disk) for short run distribution (college).
    Here's the process: the movie itself is a recording of monitor screen actions recorded (audio and video) using Snapz Pro movie mode. The recorded size is 800 x 600. There might be 5 such 1 or 2 minute clips. The quality is excellent. I bring them in to FCE, drop all the clips on the same track, and add simple transitions. That's it.
    Now I need to somehow get a final QuickTime movie, with close to the same quality I had in the clips.
    So... I take the FCE file, output it using 'Export>QuickTime Conversion,' using the same size I originally recorded in, 800 x 600. Tried every codec available. Every time, the end result is a very blurred version of the original Snapz Pro recordings.
    I've even tried outputting the FCE file as 'Export>QuickTime Move' (not using the conversion method). Opened that up in QuickTime Pro with the same result: blurred and out of focus.
    I'm viewing the exported file in QuickTime Pro, with the 'Movie Properties' setting of 'High Quality.'
    Any clue? This is driving me crazy. But I'm determined to get this right.

  • Photo merge blurry

    I just install Adobe Photo Shop Elements 13 for the sole purpose of dealing with HDR and other touch up issues to pictures. Well I perform a photo merge of a 3 sequence photos with different exposure, in the hope of creating a single image (Note- I also have Elements 10 witch works fine but I figure that version 13 will do a better job) to my surprise it does not work correctly.
    The result is a blurry picture like the picture is shifty this product is not working. This is a piece of Sh.... product that something that works on 10 doesn't even work on 13.
    These are the steps I did to deal with the HDR photos. Choose all 3 pictures from album, -Enhance - Photomerge - Photomerge Exposure blurry result about a 1/4 "  off.
    Any ideas other can cancel order.

    That isn't HDR, just FYI. But it's always been better at merging a single photo exposed different ways than merging bracketed shots. If that was your main reason for purchasing PSE I would suggest that you cancel the order, if possible, and invest in a true HDR program instead.

  • PSE 8 Exposure and Panoramic Merge Blur

         When I am doing Exposure and Panoramic Merges in PSE 8, or a combination of both for exposure reasons, I often get background features that are double images.  In the above merge, the leaves and some of the smaller branches in the background (look above the falls) are not sharp and some appear as double images.  The rocks and solid ground objects retain much of their sharpness.  When I use the same equipment to take single exposures, the sharpness is usually good.  Is there a solution.  Here is the process I used and a list of equipment.
    Camera: Canon 40D
    Lens: EF-S 10-22mm
    Tripod: Man. 055xwnb
    Head: 410 geared
    ISO 100
    FL: 17mm
    f: 22
    ss: 1.3 sec.
    Mode: Raw
    With the 3 adjustment on the geared head set at 0, the tripod was leveled.  The pan for the second of the two exposures taken as achieved with the use of the geared movement with no change in the leveled tripod position.
    Each of the two exposures was bracketed to achieve 3 exposures at +2/3, 0, and - 2/3.
    In PSE 8 the two sets of 3 exposures each were corrected except for sharpening, and then put through the Photo Exposure Merge process.  This produced the two exposures used for the Panoramic Merge. The Panoramic Merge was then done. Final sharpening was done using the final Panoramic Exposure.
    I have always thought that one of the reason for the blur in the trees and leaves may be due to the long exposure time required to get the flowing water look in the falls and rapids.  A shorter exposure time would be better for stopping any movement in the trees cause by any breeze that is present but the water would then have a much different look.
    Does anyone have a possible solution?
    Thanks, Bernie

    Bernie,
    There are two plausible hypotheses, both of which could be in play here:
    1. The motion of the trees caused by the wind is causing misalignment of the images during Photomerge Exposure.
    2. A bug in PSE's Photomerge Exposure causes its auto-alignment to silently fail on images 10 MP or larger (1 MP = 1024 x 1024 = 1,048,576 pixels):
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2320219#2320219
    I'm assuming your original images are at the maximum 3888 x 2592 resolution of the 40D (10.1 MP).
    (Since misalignment is occurring in the upper-left of your example, it can't be due to Photomerge Panorama, since the left and right frames only overlap in the center.)
    Closely examining the image suggests that misalignment occurs on some but not all of the branches and leaves, but not on the bigger trunks and branches, indicating that wind is likely causing at least some of it. I think that reducing the shutterspeed would help, but you'll still get some unavoidable motion due to the wind, since doing the bracketed raw exposures will take more than half a second.
    To troubleshoot whether the bug is affecting these images, try resizing the original images to be significantly less than 10 MP, e.g. 3504 x 2336, and then do Photomerge Exposure (but no Panorama).  Is the alignment any better?
