Photomerge failure in CS4 (windowsXP)

The Photomerge process fails on my PC: three images are offered to the proccess (I have tried them in jpg,tif and dng) and the merging work starts OK then, without error message, drops out.
Control seems to be returned to the user OK and photoshop just waits for the next requirement to be started. CS4 does not recognise the errror and does not produce any result or error message.
I have registered a query with CS4 and have been issued with tracking number - but the first reply starts with "we understand photoshop crashes" which is not the case, it merely stops working on a proccess without error message so I wait for further advice.
It is clearly particular to my PC - the three images were given to a collegue and were stiched in the normal way.
Any ideas?

I'm astonished at the idea reducing memory percentage photoshop takes will help, I would have thought it might be the other way! However grateful for the idea and interest.
I backed down to 55% but after a short bit of work "aligning layers" the process stops as before, but still gracefully - says nothing but leaves CS4 still running OK and can be used for other tasks.
It may be worth commenting that when I first encountered the problem it got much further into the process before retireing without comment. I found the Windows swap file was limited to the "C" disk, and as I had a "D" I changed it to make use of the additional HD on the assumption performance would improve - it did too. But why should that change influence the CS4 photomerge failure? The mind boggles.

  • Photomerge problems with CS4 and CS5

I am having all kinds of sudden problems with Photomerge that I never had before (with CS4).  I do very big files and have multiprocessor MacPro and 16 gigs of RAM and whether I use CS4 interactive or CS5 with the Ul plugin in 32 bit Photoshop is just crashing half way through the operations.  I am very annoyed that the new CS5 does not have interactive in 64 bit as any automatic function almost never does the merge properly.  But at the moment nothing is working with either Photoshop.
Any ideas and will Adobe implement interactive in photomerge in 64 bit?  I am a professional doing large scale pieced-together murals and need the interactive mode and in 64 bit to utilize all the RAM and the ability of the architecture of the system.

  • Installation Failure Illustrator CS4

Hi there I just bought Adobe Illustrator CS4 and can not install it. I get the follow error. (Direct copy and paste)
"Adobe Color EU Extra Settings CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation."
I have tried rebooting, disabling Virus scanners etc, closed all programs. But no luck.
    My Specs are as follows.
    Windows Vista SP 2 32bit
    4Gb Memory
    Intel E6600 2.4Ghz CPU
    188Gb Free HDD space
    Radeon X1600/1650 Graphics (1440x900px)

I think you should try to create a new user account and log into that account giving it administrative permissions.
Then try to install from that new user.
If that does not work you might have to reinstall your OS.
However do a search for that error message and also for unable to install on vista.

  • Installation failure for CS4 Design Premium & Vista 32bit

I have tried 3 times uninstalling and reinstalling new, full Design Premium, install goes through disk 1 and then states the install failed allows to continue with disk 2 - same thing. Adobe support Advisor downloaded, run and finds no problems in the folders. Antivirus off, Antimalware/spyware off, no other files open. System requirements - great, all the latest upgrades for Vista Ultimate (SP1). Any thoughts?

Michael: I will try turning off the UAC - let you know, Thanks.
My hours make calling Adobe Support difficult to say the least.

  • Lightroom and CS4 photomerge integration problem

I've tried using the photomerge integration feature from lightroom 2.0 but seem unable to get it to work when the files to be merged do not reside on the main hard drive.
Lightroom seems to pass the information to CS4 correctly as I get the initial photomerge dialog in CS4 with the correct list of files. When I click 'OK' nothing happens.
I've done some experimenting and when the files to be merged are located on the main hard drive, it works fine.
I don't know if it makes a difference but the files are Canon RAW files.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it aside from moving the files?

  • Photomerge in bridge has disappeared

Photomerge in bridge CS4 has disappeared. I've been using the program for a few months now, nothing has changed as far as I know (no addons, deletions, new programs, etc).
I'm going to tool, but the whole menu under tool has changed since I last used the program a few weeks ago. Here's what I see. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
If you don't have 'Adobe Photoshop CS4' option,  then check to see if this file is missing:
    /Library/Application  Support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CS4/Adobe Photoshop/photoshop.jsx
See  if that's somewhere else on disk and put it back. You may also need  the localization files that nominally are next to that file.
I also notice that you don't have the 'Process Collections in Photoshop', which is a separate script that also lives in the /Library/Application  Support/Adobe/ directory. You may have a more general problem there and might consider reinstalling Ps CS4. I can't recall at the moment when that script gets installed; It may have come from the 11.0.1 update. I'll check on that and reply.
    regards,
    steve

  • No Photomerge after Snow Leopard install and several crashes!

Installed Snow Leopard (PowerMac Intel dual core 2 x 2.66, 9 Gb RAM) and no noticeable increase in speed but now Photomerge to PS CS4 no longer works. I can output a merge of two images but three or more does not work. Also, lightroom has crashed about three times since the upgrade to SL. Anyone else with the same problem?

Looks like it would be better to stay out of the Snow until Adobe is able to get their snow shoes properly fitted.
Upgrading to any new OS version on Day 1 is a risky idea. You never
know what parts might break, in your critical applications. Best to
hold off for a while, and see who gets to suffer, so you can avoid
their problems. For example, I wouldn't upgrade to Win 7 yet, even
though you can get the RTM (Release to Manufacturing) version now. Who
knows, the OS (or LR or PS or whatever) might need some small patch

  • CS5 Trial Download Problems

I used a Windows XP computer to download the CS5 Production Premium Mac trial.  This took over 12 hours on a fast broadband connection!
The 9 GB dmg file won't copy to an external drive (I get a disk full error although there is over 300 GB of free space). I also attempted to copy the file over to my networked Mac: the copy stalled at 630 KB and refused to budge.
Direct download to the Mac from the Adobe website also failed this morning.
I would love to try out the cool new CS5 features now, but I'd rather order a DVD and wait two weeks.  Tying up a computer overnight again to then have the download fail again is not a very palatable option.
This is not the first time that I've had trouble with the Akmai download manger: I experienced multiple download failures with CS4 suite.
Why is this so difficult? Please advise.

If your external drive is formatted as FAT32 then it can't have a file over 4GB.  Macs can read NTFS formatted drives so you could reformat your external drive as NTFS and copy the file.
I don't know why the networked copy would fail, I've copied much larger files from my Win7 PC to my iMac via a SMB shared drive on the PC.

  • Photoshop cs4 photomerge causes application crash

When I try to use the photomerge tool from photoshop cs4, under file->automate->photomerge, before the box appears which allows you to select the photos to use, an alert box appears saying that photoshop has stopped working, and then the application force closes.
I tried uninstalling, and then using the CC cleaner tool, then reinstalling, but I still have the same problem.
I installed it on a windows 8.1 x86-64 machine with 16GB ram.  Both the 32 bit and 64 bit photoshop applications have the same failure.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?  I haven't been able to find anyone else who has this issue.

I can't find the new thread, and I assume there is no solution yet, so I'm replying here...
I can say that I have an Alienware 18 with switchable graphics - low power, built-in Intel HD-4600, or twin nVidia 770M cards - and when running in the Intel graphics mode, photomerge works every time, but recently (AFAIK) when running the nVidia graphics mode (in single mode at least - I will try dual/SLI later), I can say photomerge crashes every time.
I'm fairly sure my PC used to to do photomerge running in nVidia mode, so it maybe the latest, or recent driver, causing the problem; I'm running drivers contained in "340.52-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe" on windows 8.1 64-bit.
My suggestion therefore is to try older drivers with nVidia cards, at least to get some data about what works/doesn't work and report it to nVidia. Even though the root cause could be in Abode software (nVidia may have tightened up on some issue that conceivably manifests an Abode bug), I'd bet money Abode no longer care about supporting you if, like me, you are running old CS4, paid for at great cost - they will likely just say buy an upgrade to the latest s/w (which may or may not work)!
    Cheers
    Steve

  • PS CS4 - photomerge

I tried 4 times consequently to stitch 4 images in Photomerge activated from Bridge - with same settings (auto and defaults i.e. blending images on, vignette removal off, distortion correction off). I was surprised of the result because each time I tried PS generated different panorama. Just to make sure I thoroughly checked if the stitch settings were really the same - they were... Am I missing something essential?

PhotoMerge appears to have been broken in the move to CS4.
Whilst I am glad that PhotoMerge in CS4 is working for SOME, on my two main, quite different, XPP/3 systems (one with supported 3D card, one without) I have been unable to get CS4 to create ANY panoramas.
In CS4, as shipped in the 'Master Collection', attempting to merge only two images that, on the same systems [right now, TODAY!] are merged by CS3 (and ptGUI, and APP) results only in a series of processing msgs during which a file named something like "unnamed_panorama1" appears as a tab. When processing stops, that tab vanishes. Sadly, no trace of this file is seen in the recent file list, nor anywhere on the hard-drive.
Yes, Default Photomerge entries are being used (as well as all possible combinations of geo-correct, vig-removal, various projections etc).
Repeating this merge attempt with 'tab view' disabled results in the same sequence (only the evanescent image is a free floating one).
Initially, my thought was that this was because I had not yet 'activated' CS4. Sadly, 'activation' produced no change: Images are energetically being processed, but the final result disappears.
Copying the 'manually align' option from CS3 into CS4 results, at the end of various processing messages, in an ErrMsg popping up saying that "CS4 was unable to automatically align 'some' images.
Um, there were only two images, and was not the point of selecting 'manually align' images to MANUALLY align images?
CS4 then displays a completely transparent "untitled_Panorama1" image and LOCKS.
Random clicking on the interface produced a "This program has ..." error (I saved the error dump, if anyone from Adobe is interested) and died.
To re-iterate, I have yet to be able to create the simplest two-image panorama with CS4 on two, quite different, XPP/3 systems.
This failure is with images that CS3 has no trouble with on these same systems, at the same time as CS4 fails.
    Something is clearly wrong here.

I was directed to adobe to download CS4 on my new iMAC after hardware failure on PC.  The valid CS4 serial number for the PC is now not recognized by Adobe, even though I downloaded all the software successfully on the new iMac..  They gave me a free 30 day trial on the new iMAC.........Does this mean I have to spend a lot of money to update and activate the latest CS release on the new machine ??????

Purple Lobster your Creative Suite 4 serial number is for Windows or Mac only.  If you were previously using it on Windows then it is likely you have a Windows license.  You can verify by checking your serial number at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find more details at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.
If you wish to run Adobe Creative software on your new iMac then I would recommend a Creative Cloud complete or single application membership.  You can find more details at https://creative.adobe.com/plans.  There is also a 30 day trial available for the Creative Cloud if you wish to evaluate the newest versions of the Adobe Creative applications.

  • Image automatically changing resolution with HDR and Photomerge in CS4

I am trying to create Hi Res Panoramas and HDR images using Photoshop CS4. It seems that the resulting image is a much lower resolution than I expected (ie the image has been downsized by 50% and changed to 240 dpi). I can do the smame thing on my laptop with no problem but can't figure out why it will not work on my desktop.

  • Issue sending Leica M9 DNGs to CS4 Photomerge

I've just attempted to send two M9 DNGs to CS4 photomerge and was asked to install Camera Raw 5.6.1 - otherwise there was a risk the program wouldn't run.  True enough - it crashed.
My problem is that I can't find Camera Raw 5.6.1 anywhere.  Is anyone able to help?
    Thanks
    C:

Thanks for your message - this is the error message.  I have 5.6 installed...
One thing that's interesting is that it shows how little I'm using Photoshop these days - Lightroom 2 does pretty well everything I need (and the print module in LR3 beta actually works!)
Still - I do want to make this panorama without having to export TIFFs, and I will need to edit Leica DNGs in CS4, so I hope someone at Adobe can advise...
    Best

  • Photomerge Scene Cleaner in PS CS4

Is there a way to get at the Photomerge Scene Cleaner functionality that is in Photoshop Elements via full Photoshop CS4?

    See a video tutorial here:
