Photos abruptly stop during slide show

During slide show using apple tv either my music or the photos will abruptly stop.  Music stops if I start it from the photo slide show set-up.  The slide show stops if I set the music to play from the computer to my stereo house speakers.  Wireless connection works.  I removed the apple app from my ipad because that made the problem even worse.  I couldn't start the system as long as I had the app on my ipad or iPhone.  Any ideas how to fix?  It's driving me crazy.

Wendy:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Can you give us a little more info on your setup: model, RAM, HD size and free space, system version, QT version, and iPhoto version. When did this start? If recently did you run any updates shortly before it happened?

  • Stopping a slide show

I just downloaded Photos for Mac and did a test drive on the new SlideShow features.    I noticed that it is impossible to stop a slide show once it has been started.   There appear to be no keyboard keys (not escape either) or mouse movements that respond during the slide show.   The only thing that worked was shutting off the computer by holding down the power key.    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your response,
I removed the custom nav and let the slides flow into each other - and the project froze.
I can move the small group of slides in question into a blank project or a new project using our template and they play in HTML 5 without issue.
Also, if I enable the captivate playbar and skip directly to the slide right away, it will play. It is only when I let the project play as usual that it fails. I've tried hiding various slides to see if just one is causing an issue, but that wasn't able to do anything.

It looks like an unstyled background in your frameset. You'd
    be better
off ftp'ing to your .co.uk domain rather then importing the

  • Photo Quality Difference - DVD Slide Show vs iMovie

I have seen a marked difference in quality of photos in iDVD slide shows vs photos I've incorporated in iMovie. The iMovie rendered photos are very high resolution and fill the screen, whereas photos rendered as a slide show in iDVD are of poor resolution and don't fill the screen.
    Any thoughts?
    Gil

All iDVD produced videos are 'Standard Definition' - that is 640 pixels wide and 480 pixels high (give or take). Therefore, all of your megapixels are being reduced to 0.3 megapixels on the screen. There is nothing you can do about this - SD video is this size. The only thing you can do is make sure the necessary 'downscaling' is done as well as possible. For my still picture presentations on DVD, I use a program called 'Photo to Movie' (LQ Graphics), along with iDVD. It seems to do a better job of the downscaling process, along with having some neat features not in iMovie. I have produced many 'slideshows' that are certainly not HD, but are pleasing to view on an HD TV (pillarboxed). Others use 'Fotomagico' for the same purpose, but I have no experience with that program. HTH.

  • How can I make a CD full of photos play as a slide show?

    Hi all.
I hope I am posting in the right place.
On my XP machine I can insert a CD or DVD loaded with photos and without any convertions it loads and I can choose to view the photos as a slide show by clicking on an command in the left window "View as slide show".
Does the Mac OS X have a similar and simple way to view photos as an automated slide show?
If so, how would I go about working it?
    Regards

My bad, I'm thinking of 10.4 Tiger, not 10.5 Leopard.
    Try this instead:

  • **Adding different text to each photo before making a slide show.

And the top of the day to you,
Is there a way to add different text to each photo before making a slide show? I know you can do this in PS4 but it is not very easy. Any ideas?
    Al

Use the Caption metadata to add slide text then click the ABC icon in the slideshow module, followed by clicking the up/down icon, then choose Edit. Insert the Caption option from the IPTC Data box.

  • Photos open only in slide show

I recently corrected a problem I was having with iPhoto not displaying the SOURCE PANNEL by dragging com.apple.installer.plist to trash. After correcting this problem, photos in iPhoto will open "only" in the SLIDE SHOW mode. Previously the photos would open in edit mode. Is there a fix for this??
    Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Think I may have solve my problem. Apparently during my efforts to correct my iPhoto from opening in the Slide Show mode, I must have changed some settings in iPhoto Preferences. I went back to iPhoto General Preferences and changed the double-click setting from "Change to edit view" to "Opens in photo edit window." Photos now open in the edit view. I really don't have a clue why it works, but it works. So I guess I can say the problem is solved.
Regarding trashing the iPhoto preference file: com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that is the file I trashed. I don't think that I said anything in my problem statement about trashing the ...installer ...preference. I still have com.apple.iPhoto.plist in my trash. Are you telling me that I should drag program back to my Preferences folder. By removing this file my Source List was restored???

  • Two song are playing at once during slide show?

I played a slide show and music was playing. Later the same music played...along with an iTunes song I'd purchased. They played together, which wasn't too good. How did that happen and how do I enable or disable the default song?

I found the problem and just need to know more about how to work with the iPhoto program, which will happen when I receive my books and do the one-to-one lessons. Evidently someone had started my songs on iTunes running and they hadn't been stopped, although I couldn't hear them when I opened the iPhoto program to start. Hence, both the song on iPhoto and the iTunes song were playing at the same time. I simply went into iTunes and stopped the songs from playing. Duh....
I can't wait to find out how to stop the default song and choose one to play from my iTunes during the slide shows.

  • Rating During Slide Show

In iPhoto 6 I can't figure out how to rate photos as they go by in Slide Show. I have used this to good advantage in previous versions. Hope they haven't dumped that feature. Thanks

Very sorry. Got it figured out.

  • Pressing S doesn't start or stop automatic slide show in PowerPoint 2008

I have an automatic slide show created in PowerPoint 2008 which runs fine on PowerPoint 12.2.3 on a Mac running OS 10.5.8, but when running the same version of PowerPoint on 10.6.2, pressing the S and equal keys do not stop and start the presentation. The only thing that stops the automatic slideshow is control-mouse-click (which of course brings up the sub-menu). Has any one else experienced this?

    Hi Glo H,
I tried that and it didn't fix the problem...the music still starts a bit choppy (part way into the music) at the tail end of the 1st slide/beginning of second. I don't know if I mentioned earlier, that the music, when it does come in, is at the point it should be, i.e. like it started with the first slide, just not coming out of the speakers...if that makes any sense
    Thanks,
    Rob

  • Adding photo collage image to slide show in photoshop elts 9

I created a photo collage page using photoshop elements 9 and saved it as a jpg file. It looked clear and sharp on screen.   When creating slide show, I added this page but when I play the slide show full screen, the image for this page is blurer than normal.  Other regular photos I added in the slide show are ok.  Why does this happen and is there a way to overcome it?

Maybe it's me, but... scoobie... i don't think your reply has anything to do with her question lol. I believe she's saying she is having trouble figuring out how to do something, not that the program is crashing.
Anyway, I'm starting a similar slideshow project. I think it's easiest to simply edit the photos in iPhoto. Photoshop is on a different level from iPhoto and obviously has capabilities iPhoto lacks, but I think it should be fine for just editing digital photos.
One of the things you said was "how do you format... resolution"
I don't think iPhoto can change the resolution of a photo like photoshop can, but since you want to make the FINEST quality slide show I assume you'd want to scale the resolution up... and although photoshop can do that, I don't think you'll see a significant increase in quality. It won't look anything like if you had actually taken the photo at a higher resolution.
As far as importing pictures into iMovie goes, that should be pretty easy. If you click on the "media" button in iMovie, and then click on the "Photos" tab on the upper right of the window, it will display your iPhoto library the same way it would display it in iPhoto (organized by albums). You can then drag whatever photos you want to include to the "timeline" at the bottom of the screen.
I'm not sure what to tell you about pixel ratio and RGB vs. CMYK....
The last step, exporting to iDVD is just as simple as adding pictures... just click on the "Share" menu at the top of the screen and select "iDVD". What you do from there depends on what kind of final product you want... and I haven't actually used iDVD so I would just be guessing on that part lol.
Also, I suggest going here: http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/imovie/index.html and looking at the tutorial. I viewed most of the movies there and they were helpful.

  • Poor photo quality when importing slide show into Elements 10

    Hello,
I'm using Elements and Photoshop Elements 10 on Vista.
What I'm trying to do is import a slide show I made in Photoshop in to a movie I'm making so that the slide show appears as a menu item and I don't have to include a separate disk for the pictures. I've sucessfully imported it, added the menu marker and the disc works, but the photo quality is really crappy. When I play the slide show on its own, the pictures are fine. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum.
    They work on several levels:
A subscriber comes with a problem/question, and then, hopefully, someone will have an answer
A subscriber comes with a problem/question in mind, and then finds other threads, very similar, and hopefully gets the answer
A subscriber comes to read, to pick up ideas, etc.
In your case, it appears that # 2 worked, just as it should.
As for your question, PrE can produce SlideShows for display from DVD-Video, as good as it gets. Where commercial DVD-Videos enter a different realm, is with Video footage, with motion. There, Hollywood uses special Transcoding software, that allows for many, many more passes to identify the areas of motion, to Transcode at just the right Bit-Rate, for best results. PrE does that with but two passes, unlike the US $ 500,000 programs, staffed by highly-trained experts, who do nothing but Transcoding, all day long. PrE is limited in that respect, but with SlideShows, it will be able to apply the highest Bit-Rate (the DVD-specs. are strict here, so, though higher Bit-Rate = higher quality, DVD-Video can ONLY go so far.) Also, Hollywood uses DVD-9's (DL) so that more Duration can be authored to disc, at the highest-allowed Bit-Rate, for each segment of the Video. With a SlideShow, the Bit-Rate will be as high as the DVD-specs. allow, and per the Duration of the SlideShow vs the capacity of the disc.
Now, there are some other considerations, such as the limited Color Gamut (and Gamma) of DVD-Video vs display on a calibrated computer monitor, or a calibrated Broadcast monitor. One needs to study that limited and different Color Gamut, and perhaps adjust the colors first, in Photoshop. PrE is not designed for Broadcast output, so lacks many of the Tools, that PrPro has. Also, very few PrE users have a calibrated Broadcast monitor hooked up for Color Grading. Last, even if one has produced the ultimate output, with full understanding of the Color Gamut, and used a perfectly calibrated Broadcast monitor, there is no telling what the calibration of the client's monitor (computer, or TV) will be. What is perfect on a calibrated Broadcast monitor might look great on the client's setup, or perhaps not. A Broadcast Engineer can only adjust to standards, and hope for the best, when the disc hits the public. Same for Audio. Who knows what "Aunt Marge" has to play back the DVD-Video?
For ultimate results, I would create a Timeline with a few Still Images, but with each adjusted in slightly different ways in Photoshop. Add a Title, like a Lower-Third, with the Color and Gamma settings over each version, maybe 5 variations, that are slightly different. PS allows one to adjust Colors and Gamma in many ways, so explore. Then, author that Timeline to DVD-Video, using high-quality media, and test on their DVD player/TV setup. See which version looks best, and note the specifics from that Title. Use that to process the actual Still Images for the DVD SlideShow.
Also remember, if one has set things up ideally, they will have calibrated their system and Photoshop. As Photoshop is a Color Managed Workspace, things will be, as good as it gets. DVD-Video, and TV's are NOT Color Managed Workspaces, and most consumer TV's are out of general calibration, having just the generic setting from the factory. Nothing can be done about that.
As mentioned above, if the playback is for a computer (not a DVD player and TV), then better Color and Gamma might be achieved by doing an AV file, and then burning that to a DVD-Data disc, for delivery. However, one still has the variables of the client's computer, its monitor and even the software player used. All play a big role in how that AV file will play for them.
Good luck, and I wish there was an "iron-clad" answer, as to how to achieve the ultimate results, but there are so very many variables involved.

  • Black Screen during slide show

    Hi,
When I try to watch a slide show I can hear the music, but just see a black screen. Anyone know what the problem might be?
(at the beginning of the slide show, it does start off by showing the name of the Event, followed by a black screen).

Are you able to view the photos used for the slideshow in the edit mode? You might fill in some of the personal stuff like I have at the bottom of my post so we have an idea of what type of Mac you're running, what system version, etc. Also include in the post what application version so we can be assured we're all on the same page starting out.

  • Music during slide show

How do I play music during the slide show? I looked at the setting for Music and the only option available is "off" with a check mark present. There doesn't seem to be a way to uncheck this.
    Please help.
-Luck Kanthatham (Apple TV Source - http://appletvsource.com )

You have to dig into the settings. The slideshow music choices are limited if you do not have music on the actual appleTV unit. I have all my music stream from my HD. I had to go into settings and choose one album that the slideshows shuffle from all the time. From the slideshow window I have nop options or anything to choose from.

  • Display comments during slide show and/or DVD

This is a pre-sales question; I'm wanting an application to organize decades of family photos that will all be entered with location and comment about the photo since we were good about writing that on the back of the photos and slides.  Now, the more critical part, I'd like those comments to be displayed while viewing a slide show, or more importantly, if I write out a slide show to DVD.  On screen is not so important as I can always look at the comments manaully if I want but I want to create DVD's to send to family so they'll want to see the commands about each pic on screen.  I think Elements has all the organization features I need, just wondering if when you use it to create a photo dvd, the comments can be made visible as the dvd is viewed.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
In Photoshop Elements you can  create slideshows which can be exported as Videos or PDFs....
Captions can also be doiplayed with each slide....
I would suggest you to try trial version of PSE8 and decide if it fulfil your requirements.... It also facilitate to place your Photographs on Map and then locate througha Map view... Try it out before buying....
