Photos and iCloud
I am getting a new phone and want to back up my phone to iCloud, but it looks like my photos are not being saved on iCloud. I know that new photos are kept when I turn on photo stream, but what about my old photos that are not on photo stream?
The best way to ensure you photos are backed up are to make sure they are all in your camera roll, then import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. To same photo stream photo to your camera roll open the My Photo Stream alburm, tap Edit, tap the photos to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll. Then can then be imported to your computer as explained in the article.

Since the NEW Photos is out and my new subscription to iCloud storage increase I an not clear(or feel safe yet) what happens to my images when deleted from my iPhone5 to clear up space. Yes your iMac is a device. If you are using iCloud Photo Library on both your iMac and in Photos on your iMac, if you delete a photo on either it will be deleted from both and from iCloud. If it is iCloud it is also on both devices. You save storage on your iPhone by setting it to optimize storage. See the quote below from iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support

Escuse me I'm an italian boy. I've installed ios 6 yesterday on my iPhone 4 and on my iPod Touch 4g. In my iPod i can't find the tabs in the icloud tabs (safari). In my iPhone 4 i can't find shared photo stream and also the tabs in the iCloud tabs. i've surfed in internet with the two devices but the folder of the iCloud tabs remains empty . why? please help me.
For iCloud tabs be sure that both devices are signed into the same iCloud account, and that you have opened multiple web pages rather than always opening new sites in the same web page.
Shared photo streams are inititiated by opening the camera roll in the thumbnail (grid) view, then tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to share, tap the Share button, tap Photo Stream, select the email address of the people you want to share these photos with, fill in a name for it, turn on Public if you want them to be able to view it on icloud.com, type Next, fill in comments if you want, the tap Post. -

i have iphone5s it not working properly
icloud and system not goodI have something similar. But when I click on Revert to Server, it goes away and immediately comes back with the same alert. If I click on Go off line, the alert dissappears, but a short while later it returns with the original alert. This is a pain because I am off line most of the time, or busy getting the icon ical in the dock to stop jumping.
So I reentered the event using different wording and deleted the original event. All that happened was the alert returned but using a different alert.

On the iMac, open System Preferences > iCloud. Make sure Photo Stream is selected.

2. Easiest thing: just move your iPhoto Library to the external
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

I recently had to swap out my iphone 4s and I am having problems restoring photos and videos from icloud. When I restored my phone from icloud, half of my pics and videos have been deleted, the pics that were restored on my phone are very blurry, and the videos won't play. I get a message on my phone that says " the URL you are requesting is not found on this server". I have erased and reset my phone twice, but every time I do it, more pics and videos are deleted. I have backed up to icloud and iphoto, however, some of the pics are no longer on iphoto either. Is there someway to get the videos to play on my phone again? Make the photos not as blurry as they are now and to restore the pics and videos that have been lost? I really would love to have them back, this phone is supposed to be the best and right now it doesn't seem to be. Please help if you can.
I too have noticed that once i restored from iCloud. Pictures blurry and videos wont play!

Basically headline says it all, my phone is in recovery mode following a failed update through the phone and I want all my photos back. I have already read the "iOS: Unable to Update or Restore" and it indicates that when restoring through iTunes, you lose all data on the phone. I have checked my iCloud (I am a Windows7 user so uploading does not happen automatically, as I unfortunately just figured out) and it only will upload my past 30 days of photos and contacts, inline with what I've read about the cloud only storing 30 days of your past data. I really would like to get all of my photos off of my phone, I had photostream activated and most were in that stream. Is there anything I can do? I don't know what operating system is on there currently, but I have always updated my phone succesfully until today when this happened, so I'm assuming whatever is most up to date until today is the OS it has. Thank you!
When your phone is in recovery mode, it's like it crashed. The only way that you can get it out of recovery mode is by restoring, and this erases all your data as well.
You can believe what you wish by "reading all over the internet". This is Apple's technical support forum. We do know what we're talking about.
since you have very important photos on your phone, why haven't you been importing them to your computer as soon as possible after taking them? This is how the phone is meant to be used. Keeping critical data on only a device which can be easily stolen, dropped and broken is just plain foolish. Also, did you not back up your phone (as you should be doing with any computer) before attempting any operating system update? As you've now just painfully learned, updates do not always go as planned.
I'm sorry for your data loss, but let this be a very important lesson. BTW, when was the last time you backed up your computer? I'm sure you have important data on your computer. Hard drives WILL fail. -
I purchased extra icloud storage to back up my phone and phots. Purchased a new phone and went to pull my photos from icloud and only a portion trasferred to my new phone. How do I get all of the photos moved to my new phone?
Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud. If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now). Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier. -

We are running yosemite OS X 10.10 and iOS 8.0.2... Is there any way to do this?

How can I organize my photos in icloud by album as they are on my Mac in iphoto? I want to see more than just a sort by Collection/Event/year.
You'll need to wait for all these things to come out to beta testing for that kind if detailed help. But at the moment it seems that you make the Albums in your Photos.app on the Mac or iOS device and these then turn up on the Library in the Cloud. I can see no way to create albums in a web browser, and iPhoto doesn't communicate with the Library.

I upgraded from a 4s to a 5s. I backed up my icloud and in the Apple store they helped me transfer. I didn't wait in the store for all my information to download and when I got home later that night the apps all downloaded and were good. I didn't check the photos and videos though. I think I may have stopped the icloud retoration and maybe that is why not all my photos are on my new iphone. Now in the camera roll it shows slots for photos, but they are not there. When I tap on the photo, it just shows "Loading" and is working, but the photo doesn't appear. Any assistance would be helpful

I had iCloud photo libraey turned on on both my iPad and iPhone. As said by the feature, photos and videos were being transferred automatically from each device to each other. I have a 64GB iPad Air 2 and my iPhone 5 only has 16GB of storage so I am lacking much more space on my iPhone than my iPad. I was wondering if there was a way to transfer photos only from my iPhone to my iPad but not from my iPad to my iPhone. Would turning off iCloud Photo library on my iPad do the trick? Thanks hope someone can help me out.
iCloud Photo Library keeps all of your photos in the Cloud which you then can selectively download. So, unless you download the iPad photos, they are not going to be taking up any room on your iPhone:
