Photos App - Sharing to Flickr

I'm trying to share some photos to Flickr using this new Photos app (I used to use iPhoto) and I have the following problems:
If I select too many then the Flickr option doesn't appear.
If I reduce the number I can then see the Flickr option but sharing to Flickr just shows a progress bar saying something like 'preparing image x of y'.
If I reduce the number further (down to 20 or so) then once the progress bar disappears I'm given an option to choose which Flickr album I'd like to upload to. There's no option to create a new album so I have to log in to Flickr via a web browser first to create an album before I can select it through this Photos app.
Is there anything I can do with this app or do I just have to wait until it has been fixed? I understand it's new but couldn't they have released it through a Beta channel first?
I thought it was maybe a quirky image that was breaking it but I've managed to share an entire album by performing 10 or so small batches of uploads.

My concern is what happens when I try and share a photo to Flickr from the new Photos App - is this going to reset all my photos that have been previously shared to Flickr
It hasn't for me.

  • Photos app problem with Flickr upload

I updated to new Yosemite on mac mini.  Now with the photos app I can only upload 30 photos to my flickr account and the titles do not upload.  I never had this problem with iPhotos (I could upload hundreds of photos and all the titles uploaded)  Help

I have the same problem: The Title/Description is not uploaded/exported with my photos to the Caption field in Flickr or Facebook. I'm afraid this is a bug right now...

  • No photo titles AT ALL in Photos app shared albums

Is there some hidden setting to turn on the photo titles?

Until Photos called Titles 'titles', anyone I ever spoke to called the filename the title. My mistake in not understanding that Photos ignores the photo filename entirely and 'titles' all the photos as 'Untitled' in fuzzy light grey text, only visible when hovering over the offending item, and not permanently in a useful way.
The filenames are useless in the get info window. If you deliberately or accidentally scroll the thumbnail browser, the get info panel is entirely independent of the app interface and you have absolutely no idea to which image the get info refers to. It's terrible design.
I just want to see the filename under the photo. It's not much to ask. I can't actually see the point of the app, it's like a crappy, feature limited bad imitation of iPhoto - an Apple app that already does everything Photos does, but much better.

  • Yosemite Photos App Shared Library

Just downloaded 10.10.3 and am migrating to Photos. On iPhoto I used to have the iPhoto library in the Shared folder, and all logins pointed to that library when they opened iPhoto in their own account.
Then Apple stopped this, and I went through lots and lots of pain until I realised this, with broken permissions, rebuilding libraries, recovered photos and the like.
Now Photos is here, I would like to be able to share one library across all our accounts. This would mean that all our photos were in one place, but our own photo streams would be visible when we logged in to our account, and when we wanted to share photos to Facebook, Twitter, etc, it would do it to our own accounts linked to our login.
Does anyone know if Apple has enabled this again, or whether it is still blocked?

I have not seen any indication, that sharing the Photo Library on a Mac in a shared folder has been brought back.
The Sharing options for Photos are pretty much the same as for iPhoto and based on Shared albums.
See the Photos Help page:  https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/
And look at the section "Share your photos and videos".
To share your Photos library on the Mac, use the same cumbersome procedure as before with a sneaker drive: iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users

  • Photos app doesn't display shared iCloud albums

I've been using Aperture and iPhoto, and had a few shared albums on iCloud. The upgrade to Photos app didn't seem to go smoothly and I had some strange behavior and messages about connecting to iCloud when the app first launched. I don't recall what they were exactly.
Now I can't view any of the shared albums in Photos and when I try to share to them, they are not seen as options. I can still view the shared albums on my iPhone. And I was able to re-establish shared albums in Aperture. But I can't see any way to get Photos to see and display them.
I disabled and re-enabled iCloud sharing in Photos preferences, no effect. I am not using iCloud photo library and am not interested in upgrading.
I eventually logged out of iCloud and removed all its data locally and then logged in again. Everything was restored except the shared albums.
So far nothing I've tried has worked. Photos looks nice, but I can't access my shared albums.

This post should be under iCloud on the Mac, not icloud.com. If any moderator can move it, that would be great.

  • Sharing to flickr doesn't push the metadata of modified photos

In iPhoto 09, we can share photo on flickr.
There is a very annoying problem though. If a photo has been modified in iPhoto, the metadata is lost (well, it's not lost really, since it's kept in a database outside of the file) but the file corresponding to the working copy of the photo doesn't contain the metadata of the original file. Although this is very annoying for many reasons, I understand that one photo in iPhoto is not necessarily 1 file. Fine.
The problem is that contrary to when a photo is exported, the metadata is not added to a photo that is shared on flickr (using the new 09 "share to flickr feature").
It works correctly when sharing on facebook though.
Here is a very basic scenario:
Take a photo in "landscape" mode and another in "portrait" mode.
Import them in iPhoto. Normally, the one in "portrait" mode will be rotated automatically by iPhoto so that it is displayed as it was meant to be display (great).
Select those 2 photos and share them on flickr.
The one in portrait mode will not have a "date/time taken" so the value will be the same as for "date/time uploaded". The one in "landscape" mode should be fine.
I think this is because the file that is shared for the picture in landscape mode is still the original file while the one for the portrait photo is a working copy that doesn't contain the metadata.
Is this a bug? Any chances to get a fix?

    I believe so.
I have done some more tests and it looks like only the photos that have been rotated automatically because they were taken in portrait mode are affected.
For example, the pictures that I have modified in iphoto are exported AND shared on flickr with all the metadata. So it is not a matter of having a working copy of the original photo or having the original photo file.
It is really only for pictures that were taken in portrait mode.
I have done this simple test:
I import a photo that was taken in portrait mode, and export it with all the possible information check box checked (including location)
=> the exported photo doesn't contain the "generated date" and contains very little metadata (it does contain the location though).
I then go back to iPhoto, and "revert" the photo "to original". It doesn't appear to change, and it still is displayed in portrait mode. But now if I export it, the export contains the full metadata.
If I export a photo that got heavy modifications but that was taken in landscape mode, all the metadata is there.
So it really looks like a bug related to the "portrait" automatic orientation. The metadata is lost somehow...

Unfortunately you do not have any options, the iPad one cannot be used for mirroring.

  • Photos are cropped after being shared from Photos App

So, I wanted to share Photos from my Photos App using iCloud shared albums. I have iCloud Photo Library enabled.
All the photos I want to share are perfectly uploaded to iCloud, as I checked them on my iPhone.
But when I created the shared album, some of the photos are cropped! The lower part is just plain white.
Some of them are missing 30%, others are missing 90%. Some are even all white. This is the case for every device I access the shared album from.
But the originals are still complete and not cropped (When I access them via "Moments" for example). That is on every device!
    No matter where I access
I noticed, that when I shared the photos, the Hard drive of my iMac began to show heavy activity.
I imagine there should be no HD activity, since all my photos are in the cloud already. So when I want to share photos from my iCloud photo library, all the Photos App has to do is send the list of those photos I want to share to the iCloud servers. Not the entire (or corpped) photo.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

Must crop all pictures, or choose to print with borders.

  • Photos app doesn't show my shared albums and activity

I've just installed the new Photos App and so far so good, until I try the shared tab.
    cleanest place on my Mac.
I can still access it from iPhone but now I'm not sure whats going on.
is my iPhone late in cache?
is my Photos Mac going to overwrite my shared configurations / subscriptions, have it done it already?
is it just a bug ?
anybody else got the same issues?
    I just hope not.

What are your Preference Settings in Photos?
Is the Photos Library you are using enabled as System Photos Library in the Photos Preferences > General?
Is iCloud enabled in the Photos Preferences > iCloud? And also My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing?
And is the Shared Section of the Sidebar visible? It may be hidden using the invisible Show/Hide control to the right of the title "Shared"
If all settings are right, but still no Shared albums visible, disable  the shared streams in the System Preferences > iCloud > Photos > Options, then restart the Mac, and enable them again in the System Preferences and in Photos Preferences iCloud.
It may take a few hours for the streams to populate again after resetting them this way.

  • Photos-App: How do I find out which photos are used in a Shared Photo Stream?

    Hi folks,
I just ecountered a “problem“ using a Shared Photo Stream.
FYI: I have circa 1.200 images stored in Photos-App. About 360 of them are used in a Shared Photo Stream.
Now I'd like to delete all the fotos NOT used in said Stream.
Since the images in said Stream are not in the same order as they were originally taken, there are also many images between the ones used.
So now I am confronted with the time-consuming task of comparing and deleting the photos, switching between Stream and Album/webview all the time.
And do it all by hand. Naaaaaaaah! ):
Any ideas on how to speed up this whole process?
(I already wrote Apple to maybe add a label or icon to the photos used in a Stream (when in any other view) so it gets easier to identify the right ones.)
    Greets, Tim

Incorrect. Photos added to the Camera Roll are automatically uploaded to Photo Stream. Photos deleted from the Camera Roll are not automatically deleted from Photo Stream.

  • ICloud shared photo stream stopped working with new photo app

iCloud shared photo stream stopped working since the last OX update with the new photo app.  I don't have access anymore to the sharing albums, even those that I own

Don't the albums show at all?
Are you signed in  with the same Apple ID that you used with iCloud before?  And are you currently browsing the System Photos Library? Only one Photos library, enabled as the System Photos library can sync with iCloud.
For me it helped to disable iCloud Photo sharing in the System Preferences > iCloud > Photos > Options
and in the Photos. app Preferences < iCloud.
Then restart the Mac and enable the same Preferences again.
    And wait.
The Shared albums came slowly back and were all back after one day.

  • Flickr integration in the new Photos App in OS X 10.10.3

I had been looking forward to trying out the new Photos app with the newest version of OS X.
Now it has arrived and it is alright, for what it does, but it's not going to be taking over my photo processing.
The one bit where I feel seriously let down is the Flickr integration - in this area it seems to be a big step backwards from iPhoto.
Has anyone else though been struggling to understand how to access Flickr properly through it?
I can upload photos, but I cannot open my Flickr albums to look in there, as I could with iPhoto. Or is there a way of doing this that I am missing?
The upshot of this is that I cannot use my Flickr feed as a screensaver on my mac at the moment... There are hundreds of curated photos that make me happy, of my friends, family, nice memories, trips that I have taken, in an album on Flickr for this very purpose.
Previously I simply set my mac at work, and my one at home, to use the Flickr album as the source for my screensaver, but now that the Flickr album doesn't appear for me in iPhoto, this is not possible.
Has anyone else run across this? Has anyone else come up with a solution?
(Also did anyone else's inner cynic connect this and the screen asking them to sign up for the iCloud photos solution, and if so, did you silence that cynic or give it free reign?)
-crossposted from the Flickr support forums at the suggestion of users there

Okay, the answer for the time-being seems to be to keep using iPhoto for this task.
iPhoto is still in my applications folder (but for how long).
So, I can use iPhoto for managing my Flickr and Photos for everything else.
That's the theory anyway and I'm going to give it a go until and unless a better option presents itself, please do let me know if you have one.

  • Creating a new album on FaceBook when sharing from Photo app?

With the FaceBook camera app you can create a new album while sharing photos from their Camera app on my iPhone 5.
However, I only can see a way to upload to existing albums while sharing from the iOS 6 Photos app. Is there a way to create a new album while sharing?
    Thanks,
    doug

You need to sync all the photos that you want in one go - only the contents of the most recent sync remain on the iPad (as you've found out). If you want separate folders/albums, then the folders to sync need to be directly off the same parent folder, select that main/parent folder i iTunes, and then chose which of the folders underneath it to sync: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

I have a similar problem. I have a Mac Mini Server hooked up to my TV. I want to use Screen Sharing to control it from other Macs in my house. None of my other computers can connect to it with Screen Sharing though. It works fine over any other VNC client, from any other computer, and on my iPod and iPhone. I've tried 4 different Macs in my house and not can access it with the built in screen sharing. Any ideas?

  • I upgraded to the new photos app on my mac and don't see my shared albums

I do not see my shared albums on the new Photos app for iMacs.  Where can you find them as my shared tab just says start sharing but doesn't display the previous shared albums I create on the the old iPhoto app.

Did you reboot the router too?
