Photos app stuck on 'downloading x of y'

Hi guys, I had to restore my iPhone 4S yesterday, whilst everything seemed fine at first I noticed that in the photos app it shows 9 pictures with the message "Downloading 9 of 63" yet nothing happens, I cant take photos or screenshots as when I do I go to the app and they're not there.
I'm not sure exactly whats happened or how to fix it.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

I too ran into this problem after trying to setup a new iPad by restoring from my old iPad's iCloud backup: Photo's app said, "Syncing x of y," and was stuck for more than a month despite hard resets, killing apps, etc. After calling AppleCare, they hinted that the only way they know to solve this problem is by doing a wipe and restore which I did not want to do. So while my AppleCare representative was consulting with a colleague, I tried one last thing which ended up working for me (please keep in mind that I had not sync'd my new iPad with my computer until this point, but this may work even if you have already done so):
Open iTunes and find your Preferences, then in the "Devices" tab, make sure to check the box next to "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically".
Plug in your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch into the computer and transfer all your photo's to the computer, then remove the photo's from your iDevice (iPhoto will automatically give you the option to remove the photo's you just imported from the device). Your Camera Role Album should now be empty on your iDevice.
To be safe, since we are about to sync with iTunes, click "File" --> "Transfer Purchases from [iDevice Name]".
Now in iTunes, after clicking on the name of your iDevice in the left-hand column, click on the Photo's tab and put a checkmark next to, "Sync Photo's from [your default photo application name]" and next to "Selected albums, Events, Faces, and ...."
Now choose a small album that is not already showing up on your iDevice. This way, the computer will try to remove the presumably corrupted album and add the album you chose.
Hit Apply, and let iTunes finish syncing with your iDevice.
If the "Syncing x of y" message disappeared, congratulations and remember to restore any of your syncing preferences that you might have altered following these directions, namely whether to automatically sync your iDevice when connected to the computer and which photo albums or events you want synced.
Please reply to this post if this worked or did not work for you so that we can determine if these steps will work for others.

  • HT204655 Photos app stuck @ 12%

Photos app says it is preparing library on first use but gets stuck at 12%.  I have restarted 3 times trying to fix the problem and it doesn't work.  Any ideas?

I found that the estimated time to import a new library was quite inaccurate but I also found that in one case I had a problem with my Aperture library. So you might try repairing the Aperture library or the iPhoto library and see if that fixes your import problem.

  • IOS 7.0.3 Photo app, stuck on syncing message at bottom.

Yesterday I updated to 7.0.3 and updated all my apps as well. After opening iPhoto, it seemed stuck on a message saying my Photo library is being upgraded. After numerous closer and reopening and leaving it overnight with nothing changed, I noticed that my Photo app is showing a syncing message with a wheel at the bottom that does not go away. I tried to reset all settings, removing and putting back iPhoto, removing iCloud account and finally restoring my phone and still the problem persists.
Is there anything I can do beside setting up my phone as new which I really do not want to do at all.
    Thank you.

I too had this problem, however I am running Windows 7 on a PC. This drove me NUTS for 2 days until I finally figured it out.
Through iTunes, I was trying to sync pictures onto my iP5 from a specific folder on my desktop. It would start loading the pictures when I hit the "Apply" button in iTunes, but then the status bar would say "error" and stop the upload.
As it turns out, the folder that I was trying to upload had a sub-folder with an old iPod cache in it. This is what was causing the "Syncing..." to stay present in my Photos app on my iPhone (must be unrecognized file types?). Once I deleted the cache sub-folder, I re-synced the desired folder, and the "Syncing..." in Photos went away.
    "i" hope this helps!

  • New Photo app stuck at startup

I have a Mid 2011, 27" iMac.  With the recent update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on April 24, 2015, Apple replaced iPhoto in my Dock with the new Photo app (The original iPhoto is still in my Applications folder.).  When I opened the new Photo app [Version 1.0 (209.52.0)], it came up with a dialog box suggesting the use of the iCloud Photo Library.  I clicked on the "Use iCloud Photo Library" button and found I have too large of a photo library and there would be a cost involved to use it, so I decided to go back and select the "Not now" button.  However, that "button" is not (or no longer) a hotspot and does not work.  Finding no way out, I thought I'd close and restart Photo, but I get a dialog box that "Photos is creating or opening a library.  Cannot quit Photos while it is creating or opening a library."
    Suggestions?

I executed a Force Quit on the new Photo app, then restarted it.  At the Welcome window, I clicked on the Get Started button and a spinning gear started just below the button.  That gear is still spinning two days later.  Can I safely Force Quit the Photo app. again?  Then what?  Can I continue to use the older iPhoto app?  Thank-you for any further suggestions.

  • IMac photos app stuck when accessing icloud.

Recently updated to Yosemite 10.10.03 and enabled the iCloud photo library.  While all of my iOS devices are uploading to icloud without issues. The iMac seems to be stuck. After uploading about 1500 pictures it seems to have stopped responding. It always says that its uploading 12,635 items and never moves. Moreover, it is not downloading new pictures that are uploaded from the other devices in the iCloud photo library. So far I have tried disabling and reenabling the icloud photo library on the mac as well as multiple reboots. Any thoughts?

I Have a simolar issue where photos on my iPad did not load to the Photo cloud and ther is no indication that is uploading anything to the cloud. I have my iMac uploading to the photo cloud. The iPad show 433 photos out of thousands in the library.
CAn can we check the cloud to see what is there?
PErhaps this this will straighten out after a few days once the initial surge to photo cloud is over.
    THanks
    Jay

  • HT1933 app stuck on downloading in itunes

I am urgently trying to download the 'My Vodafone' app but while it says 'Downloading' in the iTunes app screen it is not. Can you help please as I cannot use BT Openzone without this app. Thank you.

Start over when you have the time to fully download your app without any interference from start to finish.
Go to Launchpad, click and hold an icon until they all start jiggling and an X appears in the upper left corner. Click the X on the stalled downloading app to delete the partial download. Start the download again from your Purchases list.

  • I accidentally deleted the new Photos app. Is there a standalone link to re-download it ?

I deleted the new Photos app by accident. I don't have Time Machine on, nor do I have much space left to re-download OS X. How can I re-download the new photos app again ?

Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.

  • Apps to itouch stuck in download mode - help

I have 3 or 4 apps stuck in download mode on my itouch 32gb 4th gen
I cant highlight them to delete them and in the app store it says they are uploaded
    any ideas...?

You don't have to go through the whole resetting option. Simply head to settings and sign out of the app store (I believe under the tab App Store) or open app store scroll to the bottom and sign out. This will cancel your stuck downloads. Log in again and try again. If issue repeats sign out again.
This happens to me all the time. Hope it helps

  • ICloud photos library for Photos app Yosemite sync issues

Strangely, after enabling iCloud photos library on Photos app. It does sync all the lowres image into Photos app but the downloading of hires is always stuck.
Even if I leave it to sync overnight and it just stay the same until the next morning.
Anyone has facing the same issues?
    Thanks.

After two weeks I'm on my 6th attempt (6th from-scratch library) just trying to get the download and sync features to work. As of this morning the sync appears to be working but the fact that after 12 hours of "downloading" my library of 53,000 images is only 9 gigabytes, I'd say, yes, my high-resolution images are not coming down either. I have definitely set to download originals to my Mac.

  • Photos app won't open???

I signed up for the 10.10.3 beta so I could get the Photos app. After downloading 10.10.3 and restarting, the Photos app is grayed out. When I try to launch the Photos app, I get an error message saying “You can’t use this version of the application “Photos” with this version of OS X. You have OS X 10.10.2. The application requires OS X 10.10.3 or later.
    I tried to re-download the beta....same issue.
I submitted a ticket through the Feedback Assistant that comes with the 10.10.3 beta. After 6 days I haven't received a response.
Is anyone else running into this????

Try using the Developers forum. Beta software can't be discussed in this forum.

  • I tried to download a Cisco webex application.  The app did not download and I also can't open the app.  The problem is that I can't get the webex screen to close, it is stuck open and I can't get back to the app home page!

I tried to download a Cisco website application.   The app did not download and it is stuck on the window where it has the option of open.....it will not open.  The problem is that I cannot get the window off the screen and I can't get back to the App Store home page!   Help! Thanks

    Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
