Photos appear in random order?

When I upload photos via the iPhoto Slideshow wizard, and then create a new photo page via .Mac, the photos are all in random order and I have to reorder them all.
Why is this the default behavior and how do I correct this?
The way it should work is that they should be arranged in order that they were taken and let you rearrange from there.

captkurt:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I'm guessing that the order up on .Mac is alphanumerical as that's the default sorting order for computers so you must rename the files before uploading. To get the renamed in the correct order assemble them in an album, sort as you'd like and the use the .File->Export->File Export menu option and select the "Use Album Name" option. Export to a folder on the desktop and then either reimport into iPhoto to upload or manually upload to your iDisk and access thru the .Mac page if you can create the slideshow online. If not then you'll have to reimport and go thru iPhoto.
The User Album Name option will give you the following file names: AlbumName-01.jpg, AlbumName-02.jpg, etc. That might just do it for you. Check your uploads to see if they truly in alphanumerical order before going to all this work.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

    I transferred my iPhoto library from my old Mac G5 to my new Mac, and the photos are in random order.  The dates on some photos are wrong and I can't change them.  Any ideas?

  • Photo Albums in Random Order

    I have recently moved from Aperture to Lightroom because Apple are no longer going to develop Aperture. Needless to say I have to create new photo albums to be able to view on ATV, which I've done.
    Now when I point iTunes to the folders of albums they appear in chronological order in iTunes (my files are names by year/month - album name   e.g.. 2014/08 - Vacation)
    When I view the photo album list on ATV they are in a random order. Does anyone know a work around that I am not seeing. I do remember some years ago this happened and then an update happened and it seemed to rectify it. And yes my ATV's are up to date.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Before going into any depth about this have you checked that you aren't simply using the shuffle option in the slideshow settings.

  • Photos open in random order in CS3

    When I open a folder of photos in CS3 they open in completely random order. Is there some way in which I can persuade them to open in numerical order?
    Any help much appreciated.

    DYP - thanks for response. However, if I select all files in Finder they open in Preview not PS. If I want to open them in PS I have to drag them to the PS icon when they open in random order. The problem has been solved by using Bridge but I would be interested to know more details of your solution.

  • Photos Sometimes in Random Order

    I'm trying to upload certain photos from iPhoto to a website.  When the website goes to my iPhoto to get the certain photos, they are completely in random order.  If I click on iPhoto, my photos are in the order taken.  I have OS X Yosemite, 10.10.2 (14C1514).  This has not always been the case but has occurred after one of the system updates.  What can I do to keep the photos in date order?

    Perhaps the website or the browser window that is accessing your photos is looking at them alphabetically and that's different from chronologically.  May sites sort alphanumerically so you'll need to rename the photos so when exported to the Desktop for upload to the website they will be in the correct order. You can do that by selecting the photos and using this option in the Export window:

  • Photos open in random order from bridge

    Hi all,
    This issue has been bugging me, trying to open the image in sequence from Bridge CS3 to Photoshop CS3.
    The images in bridge is in sequence and all I did was select all and double click. My iMac at home works fine but my iMac at studio don't seems to like the sequence at all.
    Hope there is a solution to it.
    Regards,
    Hart

  • Events appear in random order in Photos iOS app.

    Since updating to iOS 8, my photo events are no longer in chronological order. They appear to be completely random (not sorted by title or size or anything).
    iOS 8.0.2
    Mac OS X 9.5
    No iCloud or other external syncing.

    Thisseems to be a common problem after the upgrade to iOS 8 upgrade., for example: Re: Problems with events in Photo app on upgrading to iOS8
    There is nothing that can be done about it. Sorting of albums is not supported in the Photos.app.

  • Selected rows appear in random order when selected from ADF Table

    Hi All,
    I am working in ADF 10.1.3
    I have a ADF Table with a multi select option associated with a DataBean, My requirement is when I select multiple rows from the table and click on some button to goto next page, the selected rows are not getting populated as per the selection order.
    Example: If I select 1st,3rd,5th,7th,9th rows from the ADF Table then in the next page I see the results as 3rd,1st,5th,9th,7th. - Randomly it is getting displayed.
    I am using the following code to get the records from Multi select ADF Table.
    I am adding the selected records to a List.
    selectedRowSet = this.getTable1().getSelectionState().getKeySet();
    rowSetIter = selectedRowSet.iterator();
    if (selectedRowSet.size() > 0)
    Integer index = Integer.parseInt((String) rowSetIter.next());
    Object rowData = this.getTable1().getRowData(index.intValue());
    The order is getting jumbled when I see the final list.
    Pls help me in this.
    Thanks

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the update.
    We are using 10.1.3.3 and already our application in QA Testing. User need this to be fixed. Is there any work around for this problem?

  • When i scrolled down, the photos disapper in random order

    in iphoto i can't see all the photos when i view into the folder, some of them are appearing while some are not and vice versa when i scrolled down,

    nercv:
    It's not a but but probably a problem with ownership and permissions on the image files. Try the following: download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.

  • Timestamp of videos not consistent with photos - appear out of order - bug or user error?

    We just returned from Hawaii and, of course, we have a mix of photos and videos.  However, subsequent photos and videos taken about the same time, which should have timestamps minutes apart, have timestamps that differ by 4 hours.  As I dig into this deeper, it seems all the videos have timestamps 4 hours from what they should be(my view).  At a minimum, I believe the photo and video timestamp should be set per a consistent definition.
    I am determining this after I imported the pictures into iPhoto.  I have done the import several times and the results are consisent.
    Example:
    IMG_0233.JPG - April 6, 2013 6:14:46 PM
    IMG_0234.MOV - April 6, 2013 11:15:08 PM <----This should be 6:15:46 PM
    Tried to verify the timestamp of the video and photo while the picture is on the iPhone…had to buy iPhoto for IOS for $5. The photo timestamp is the same as stated in iPhoto(IOW, IMG_0233.JPG is 6:14), but the video timestamp is just April 6, 2013…no exact time. Guess I wasted $5.
    Computer Data:Mac Mini 2.3Ghz Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - OS X 10.8.3
    Iphoto 11 9.4.3
    Phone Data:
    iPhone 5
    iOS 6.1.3
    Date & Time preference:  'Set Automatically'=ON
    Travel Timezone where pics taken: Hawaii - GMT-10
    Home Timezone: Chicago - normally GMT-6(4 hour difference from Hawaii), but right now Chicago is GMT-5 due to daylight savings.
    My theory is that there is a bug that sets the video timestamp to the 'home timezone', potentially only when 'automatic timezone is set.
    This seems easily fixed by doing a batch change to adjust the timestamp on all videos
    Any other explanations?  I am hoping I am doing something wrong.

    2 things...
    1) my opening paragraph says 4 hours, but it should be 5. DOH
    2) i just imported a bunch of pictures and videos from an android phone.  Same issues.  The Android photos seem to be perfectly aligned with the photos from the iphone 5, but the videos are 5 hours off the mark(later).  Of course, I want to view the pictures with the time in Hawaii, not Central Time, so the videos are definitely in the wrong from an intuitive standpoint...as I see it.
    2013-04-09 11.14.25.jpg - Taken at 11:14am in Hawaii.  This data is per the file as it sits in dropbox and viewed by my mac mini Finder.  Android puts the file on drop box from the phone, and I imported to iphoto from dropbox.  Despite the filename indicating 11:14am, finder says the file was created at 4:14pm.  However, iPhoto, correctly puts a timestamp of 11:14am and picture is where I expect it from a time standpoint at 11:14am.
    2013-04-09 11.15.05.mp4 - Taken at 11:15am in Hawaii.  This was imported into iPhoto via dropbox at the same time, but it is showing up in iPhoto at 4:15pm, throwing off the sorting.
    So, now I believe I have an iPhoto issue and probably brought this question to the wrong forum?
    I have fixed the problem by doing a 'adjust time and date' to all videos, both from iphone and android, to be 5 hours earlier in time.  Now everything lines up, but I am scratching my head why this isn't done consisently between photo and video in iPhoto, and why I have not run into this before.....

  • Photos in random order

    After I upload photos to iphoto 09, they appear in random order, not at all according to date. I can't use "split event" because alike photos are not even next to each other... How do I fix this or move photos into some order that makes sense? Or must I always upload photos after every single day/ event during the day to avoid the scramble??

    View menu  ==> sort events?
    Alternatively you could provide enough information that someone can actully help - like what version of iPhnoto - what the source of the photos is - what order they are in - if the dates in the EXIF info of the photo are correct - etc

  • Photos uploaded are in random order in my flickr photostream

    When I use flickr feature to upload multiple photos, upload starts in parallel and results is that those photos showing in random order in my flickr photostream. How can I line up my photos in photostream in the same way I arranged photos in iPhoto? They are ordered as expected within flickr "sets" but I want to have my photos also arranged in expected order in photostream. Both Flickr Uploadr and jUploadr are capable of doing this so I expect the same with iPhoto.

    I have the same problem too. In iPhoto '09 the built in export to flickr feature results in my flickr photostream appearing random.
    Dear iPhoto '09 Product Managers-- *For users posting group events this is not the expected outcome at all.*
    Very bad bug, Apple needs to fix this error.
    It's almost false advertising that this '09 feature is helpful at all, it's actually worse than tools that have been around since 2007.
    I'm going back to using the stand alone application from Flickr: Flickr Uploadr.

    Apple, please fix this major bug!

  • Create random order slideshow and burn to dvd

    I am trying to create a random order slideshow and burn it to a dvd playable on a dvd player. I tried creating the slideshow in iphoto using the album mode, and was successful in creating the slideshow, but cannot save, export or burn. Would appreciate any help.

    Thanks for your help!
    I am trying to make a slide show of 900+ photos. I moved the photos from a CD into iPhoto. Originally I tried Magic iDVD, dropped the photos from the Event zone into the drop zones in Magic iDVD, chose a theme and previewed. The slides were shuffled from the beginning, and at first I thought that some of the themes allowed the shuffling of the slides as an effect. However, I did notice that the slides remained in the same order regardless of the theme chosen, but wasn't sure why this was the case. I then made the mistake of trying to eliminate a few of the slides and divide the slides more evenly between the two drop zones. I went back to the Event, opened the folder and selected the photos to be included and moved them to a new folder. From that point on the "shuffle" of the photos was gone and the photos appeared in the order in which they were taken. I spent several hours of trial and error trying to reinstate the shuffle, called Apple, talked with various Apple help and more expert users and finally ended up seeking help from the discussion boards where I found the post explaining how to create the shuffled slideshow in the Albums area of iPhoto . This is exactly what I am looking for--shuffled photos and random transitions! Unfortunately, it seems as though you can only view this slideshow from the computer. Now I am looking for another way to do the same thing. I am new to Apple, and trial and error is extremely time consuming and in this case not very productive. If there is a software program which will create a random shuffle (either Mac or Win) I can always create the shuffle and then import the photos back into the Events folder and create the DVD. Any help/ideas for a successful completion of this project are welcome! Thanks.

  • To-Do Printing in random order!?!?

    I've organized my to do list exactly how i want it (by calendar) and when i go to print, they all appear in random order!
    All i want is the title of the to-do and the calander it belongs in.
    Can anyone help me out?

    Be more specific. What are you printing? How much information? Where from (a GUI or not)? Where to? What os?
    What does "flexibility" mean?
    You can search for "print Java reports" and find a number of 3rd-party products that print reports.
